The Trust of Noah

Tammy Toney-Butler Season 2 Episode 39

It is easy to trust when you know God is in charge. We need only to look to scripture as a guide to all Truth.

Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, flooding, so much to cause us unease, anxiety, panic, and fear.

Perfect love casts out all fear. We do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Today's Scriptural Readings: Psalm 46 and 47 out of the Complete Jewish Bible, Acts 7 and Romans 10 out of the Life Application Study Bible, the King James Version.

Book Referenced: Foundations for Faith by Kenneth E. Hagin, Biblical Faith Simplified, Spiritual Growth Series for individual or Group Study.

About Tammy Toney-Butler: https://www.reflectivespacesministry.com/about

Welcome to today's episode of the Reflective Spaces Ministry Podcast. I'm Tammy Toney-Butler, Healing Evangelist. Holy Spirit, come have your way in this time that we have together. May they see you and not me, hear you and not me. May your light shine upon them and change them forever. May they hear your voice through the scriptures presented and know the truth and the truth shall set them free. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen. It's easy to trust when you know God is in charge. We need only to look to scripture as a guide to all truth. Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, flooding, so much to cause us unease, anxiety, panic, fear. But we know perfect love cast out all fear. And we do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The sword of truth will see us through. The scripture will guide us, guard us, and sustain us. Every battle, every storm, every hardship, we only need to be still because God fights our battles. As long as we have the light of truth in our corner, we have all that we need. So today, let's focus on the truth, the light of truth, the word that guides us, that keeps us, that sustains us. Open your Bibles and let's go to Psalm 46 and Psalm 47. Now, let's look at Psalm 46. And I am going to be reading out of the Complete Jewish Bible. And I'm going to go, and you can hear me turning my Bible, and that's okay. We're going to go to Psalm 46.

Psalm 46. So, let's begin. Everybody get your Bibles, get your coffee, get your tea, and let's begin this morning's uh or evening, wherever you are in the world, uh your reading. And again, I'm reading out of the Complete Jewish Bible in English version by David H. Stern, Psalm 46. God is our refuge and strength and everpresent help in trouble. Therefore, we are unafraid. Even if the earth gives way, even if the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, even if its waters rage and foam and mountains shake at its turbulence, sail, there is a river whose streams gladden the city of God, the holy habitation of Eloine. God is in the city. It will not be moved. When daybreak comes, God will help it. Nations were in turmoil. Kingdoms were moved. His voice thundered forth. And the earth melted away. Adoni. Zepvat is with us. Our fortress, the God of Jacob, Sah. Come and see the works of Adoni, the astounding deeds he has done on the earth. To the ends of the earth. He makes wars cease. He breaks the bow, snaps the spear, burns the shields in the fire. Desist and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth. Adoni Zeva is with us. Our fortress, the God of Jacob. Sah. Now Psalm 47. Clap your hands all you peoples. Shout to God with cries of joy. For Adonai Elohim is awesome, a great king over all the earth. He makes peoples subject to us. Puts nations under our feet. He chooses our heritage for us. The pride of Jacob whom he loves. Sah God goes up to shouts of acclaim. Adi to a blast on the chauffar. Sing praises to God. Sing praises. Sing praises to our king. Sing praises for God is king of all the earth. Sing praises in a mascul. God rules the nations. God sits on his holy throne. The leaders of the people gather together. The people of the God of Abraham. For the rulers of the earth belong to God who is exalted on high. Who is exalted on high. Now, let's go to Acts 7. Acts 7. And this time, I'm going to be reading out of the Life Application Study Bible, the King James Version. So, now we are going to Acts 7. Let's get our Bibles and turn to Acts 7. And for some of you, it may take you a minute to find it. And that's okay. Um, just go slow, find it, and let's uh let's keep going. All right, here we are. Acts seven. Now, when we look at the context of Acts 7, this is where Stephen is addressing the Sanhedrin. Steven is addressing the Sanhedrin. Then said the high priest, "Are these things so?" And he said, "Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia before he dwelt in Charun and said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shoe thee. Then came he out of the land of the Chaldians, and dwelt in Charun. And from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land wherein ye now dwell. And he gave him none inheritance in it, know not so much as to set his foot on. Yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child. And God spake on this wise that his seed should sojourn in a strange land and that they should bring them into bondage and entreat them evil 400 years. And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God. And after that shall they come forth and serve me in this place. And he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham begat Isaac and circumcis circumcised him the eighth day. And Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat the 12 patriarchs. And the patriarchs moved with envy sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him and delivered him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. Look at that. God was with him. God was with him. And now the Holy Spirit led me next to a book and I want to read and give credit. It's Foundations for Faith. Kenneth Ehagen, Biblical Faith Simplified, the spiritual growth series for individual or group study, and it's foundations for faith. And I'm going to turn to page 62 and 63. And I'm going to read starting kind of at the bottom of 62. How many of us realize that our words dominate us? Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth. We read in Proverbs 6:2 and other versions says, "Thou art taken captive with the words of thy mouth." A young man once told me, "He never was defeated until he confessed that he was." One Baptist minister put it this way. You said you could not and the moment you said it, you were defeated. You said you did not have faith and doubt rose up like a giant and bound you. You are imprisoned with your own words. You talk failure and failure holds you in bondage. Defeat and failure do not belong to the child of God. God never made a failure. God made us new creatures. We are not born of the will of the flesh or the will of man but of the will of God. We are created in Christ Jesus. Failures are man-made. They are made by wrong believing and wrong thinking. First John 4:4 says, "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world." Learn to trust the greater one who is in you. He is mightier than anything in the world. God created the universe with words. Words filled with faith and the most powerful things in all the world. World, I'm sorry. Words filled with faith are the most powerful things in all the world. Wow. The key to the God kind of faith is believing with the heart and confessing with the mouth. Our lips can make us millionaires or keep us poppers. Our lips can make us victors or keep us captives. We can fill our words with faith or we can fill them with doubt. We can fill our words with love that will melt the coldest heart or we can fill them with hate and poison. We can fill our words with love that will help the discouraged and brokenhearted with faith that will stir heaven. We can make our words breathe the very atmosphere of heaven. Our faith will never rise above the words of our lips. Jesus told the woman with the issue of blood that her faith had made her whole. Thoughts may come and they may persist in staying, but if we refuse to put those thoughts into words, they die unborn. Let me read that again. Thoughts may come and they may persist in staying, but if we refuse to put those thoughts into words, they die unborn. Cultivate the habit of thinking big things. Learn to you use words that will react upon your own spirit. Fate's confessions create realities. Realization follows the confession and confession proceeds possession. Let me read it one more time. Fates confessions create realities. Realization follows the confession. Confession precedes possession. memory text. It says Romans 10:8, but what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. That is the word of faith which we preach. And again, I was reading out of foundations of faith by Kenneth Hehagen, faith volume 1, biblical faith simplified. Now, the last scripture that the Lord gave me to actually look at was indeed Romans 10. And I'm going to be reading Romans 10 out of the Life Application Study Bible, the King James Version. Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. Salvation is for everyone. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, that the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, say not in thine heart, who shall ascend into heaven, that is to bring Christ down from above, or who shall descend into the deep, that is to bring up Christ again from the dead? But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. That is the word of faith which we preach. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth that Lord Jesus, I'm sorry, that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek. For the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved or shall be delivered in other versions. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they've not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent as it is written? How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report, so then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We need to look at and have the surrendered trust of Noah. We need to realize that God's in charge. He is our deliverer, our rescuer, our everpresent help in trouble. And no matter what you face, God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. So when wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters, man-made disasters, mass shootings, all these things threaten your city, threaten your door. You turn to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our precious Lord Jesus Christ, Adoni, and he will see you through. Worship him. Praise him even in the middle of the storm, and he'll see you through. Look to Psalm 91. Remember, his angels are standing ready. ready to be deployed, ready to protect you so that you won't even dash your foot against a stone. But what does all of this speak of? What does all of this speak of? All of this speaks of faith, of relationship, of trust, of surrendered trust, of walking in obedience, not worrying about survival, but focusing on the foundation, the cornerstone, the rock, knowing he will give you sure footing. He will go before you and prepare a way. You will not dash your foot against a stone because his angels will protect you. God is with you. You need only to cultivate a relationship with him. Listen to him. Sit still and surrender trust so that he can speak to you. He can guide you through every drought in your finances. He can guide you through every drought in your ministry. He can guide you through every trial you face. Whether it's sickness, whether you're facing a diagnosis, some type of hardship, maybe your child is out there lost and on the streets, you don't know what to do. God is with you. He will guide you. He will strengthen you. You need only to be still. Seek first the kingdom of God, and all else shall be given unto you. Today, go forth. Find a quiet place to sit still before the Lord. He's waiting. He wants to speak to you. He wants to cultivate a relationship with you. It's all about heart posture. Is your heart turned to our creator? Is your heart positioned, sitting still like a ready child, ready to receive the love and the wisdom, the knowledge, the understanding that only a good father can give. Look to God this day. Seek him. Seek the truth. And you too shall be set free. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. God bless you and keep you this day and every day.
