You Don't Need an Astrology Reading

So astrology with Claire is, um, boring and Uranus on the ascendant can't do boring. So we're going with, I talk to planets because, hello? That's weird and intriguing. Don't you wanna know more about that? I do. Anyway. Hi, it's Claire. I hope you're doing well out there. And today we're gonna talk all about why you don't need an astrology reading.

I know that's kind of wild for me to say as an astrologer, but [00:01:00] there are a lot of reasons why astrology readings fall. And even though you think you might need one and you might be shopping for one, I want you to listen to this podcast episode first because there might be something else you can try instead.

All right, let's get into it. Why would we not want an astrology reading? Well, just as a refresher, I am an astrologer and I've been a professional astrologer who has supported herself through astrology readings for over 10 years now. So I'm gonna go ahead and say out loud, there's nothing wrong with astrology readings.

There's nothing bad about doing them, giving them, or receiving them. [00:03:00] But there are other options, and I just want you to understand the limits of an astrology reading and that there are other things you can do that fill in those gaps. 

Astrology readings excel at giving you lots of information, and sometimes they're a little too good at giving you too much information. It can be really overwhelming. It can be overstimulating. Even for me as the reader, when I'm preparing for an astrology reading, it's like, oh my gosh, this is too much information.

The thing that astrology readings fall short at is now that you have all this information, you're just left with it. Usually, unless the astrologer is also a therapist or a counselor, or a really high level coach, usually ethically, an astrologer can only interpret the chart and give you the information.

They cannot help [00:04:00] you. Act from that information or do something with that information. Typically, that's kind of where their skillset ends and another, uh, professional skillset begins. And so if you're coming to an astrologer, most astrologers for. Not just information, but you want step-by-step guidance and you want someone to hold your hand and tell you what to do next.

That is not what an astrology reading is for. And so if you're craving that handholding, which is totally fine, I crave it all the time. If you're craving that, if you're craving someone to help you figure out what to do, your next step and the action steps to actually take an astrology reading is probably gonna feel unsatisfying to you, because typically it's not going to deliver those really succinct action items.

It's gonna give you a lot of [00:05:00] the context, a lot of information about why life is. The way it is, but it's not necessarily going to help you change the way life is, if that makes sense.

 Another area where astrology readings tend to fall flat is in resonance. So astrologers work really hard to create interpretations that land with you, and a good astrologer will have a discussion with you during the reading until you land on an interpretation that matches your lived experience.

That's a, that's what an astrologer ideally would do. But a lot of times you will receive interpretations, especially if you're reading like interpretations online or in an app, but a lot of times you'll receive interpretations that just don't sit right with you. There's something missing about them.

They don't quite fit in the puzzle piece, like the perfect piece. They just don't quite fit [00:06:00] in there. And you can make it work and you can twist it around and all of that stuff. But there's something a little bit off about it. And you know, again, this is because astrologers are humans and we, unless we are, are not psychic.

We're not clairvoyant, we're not all of those things unless we are. And so we don't have like that. Pristine clarity with the perfect. We don't know all the perfect details. We don't have all of the back, the backstory or the history, and so the interpretation is just the best we can do with what tiny information you might have given us in an intake form.

We're not guessing, but we are making an estimation based on what we know about you and also what we know about the astrological placement. For most people that we see. Another area where I find astrology readings to be very unsatisfying is [00:07:00] when we identify a quote, bad or negative placement, and that's the end of the story.

This used to be really hard for me when I was a medical astrologer. I'm kind of excellent at finding what's wrong with an astrology chart, but then again, unless you're a physician or something like that, you ethically and legally have to stop there. You can't say, you should take this or you should take that.

I'm sure astrologers do that. Ideally, they wouldn't, unless they're also a doctor. Yeah. Anyway, that's a whole nother ball of wax, but from my perspective, it's really unsatisfying to tell someone, Hey, this planet is, is in a tough spot. It's troubled. It's, you know, having challenges, but then it feels kinda like a dead end.

Okay, so now that I know that my Venus is afflicted, what do I [00:08:00] do with that information? Again, it's very similar to what I said at the beginning. It's like, now they know this. What is that therapeutic? To know that what? What do I do with that? What do I do knowing that my Venus is afflicted by Saturn or something like that?

Astrology readings are also finite and. This is by design. They have to be to protect the astrologers energy, but there's only so much time in a reading. There's only so much you can cover. And so in that way, they're unsatisfying because you have to just return over and over again to get your next question answered or to go one layer deeper.

And so there's gotta be a way without having to become a full fledged astrologer on your own for you to access cosmic information and insight without constantly having to go see an astrologer every week, although. That would be a dream, I guess as an [00:09:00] astrologer, really great job security, but that's not typically how it works.

Typically in astrology, a person might see their astrologer once a year or once every six months. So it's very finite in that way. And there's a lot of dissatisfaction on both ends because there's so much material that wasn't able to, um, be addressed, and so many questions that weren't able to be answered in just a small session.

So ultimately, if we like zoom out, you think you're hungry for an astrology session, but what you're actually hungry for, in most cases, an astrology reading will not deliver. It might give you a taste, it might give you an appetizer, but it's not gonna satiate you.

But there is something else that might, and this something else is called Planet Channeling. And Planet channeling is a journaling technique that I have refined and [00:10:00] developed over the last five years where you. Get to interact with your natal planets directly one-to-one. You get to receive direct insight from your chart without having to be a full fledged astrologer and without having to go to an astrologer and potentially have kind of a mediocre experience.

Again, astrology readings are awesome and they have a place, but they also have limitations. And so what I'm offering today via planet channeling this journaling technique that I've created is like a bridge where you can take what you've learned in your astrology reading and, and jump to the next level, take it deeper, take it farther, and really make it supportive for you.

I just wanna hit the concept home that if you are thinking you need an astrology reading, I want you to pause and ask if maybe you just need to learn to planet channel first or instead, because there's a lot that planet channeling can do that astrology readings cannot do.

The first reason I prefer planet channeling over a classic astrology reading is agency. So when you go to an [00:12:00] astrologer, you're actually putting a lot of power in that person's hands, whether they like it or not. And I typically don't like it at all. You are asking someone else for guidance, for answers, for insight that you think you can't access on your own.

And by design, you know, astrologers have we have the curse of knowledge. And so, um, you're coming to an astrologer typically because they have a body of knowledge that you just don't, you just don't have. And so there is this. Innate power dynamic between an astrologer and a client that can be very uncomfortable and in the wrong hands can be really damaging.

Planet channeling, on the other hand, puts the power firmly into your hands. Now, an astrologer like me can teach you how to planet channel can help you. Planet Channel can suggest, uh, questions to ask planets and like ways to connect with planets, but. [00:13:00] You are the one receiving the guidance and receiving the answers, and you are the one interpreting the planetary voice to the page, to the paper.

And so I love planet channeling because I'm putting the keys to the castle back into your hands, and I no longer have them. And that, in my opinion, is how it should be. I don't. Like having, um, people come to me asking, am I ever going to get married? Am I ever gonna have a baby? What should I do about my job?

Should I do this? Should I do that? That's a lot of pressure, especially if you're just meeting someone for the first time. So planet channeling alleviates that pressure for both parties, for the astrologer, but also for the person asking the question. It allows them to really. Access their intuition and their own inner knowing and puts that in first place instead of somebody else's information in first [00:14:00] place.

So essentially, planet channeling amplifies your voice, not the astrologers voice. And I think that's really, really important because astrologers mean well, most of us. There are some out there that really love the power trip, but um. It's still by design in reading where the astrologers voice is the one that gets heard more than the clients.

Planet Channeling also takes astrological info and turns it into Inspo. So instead of just saying, Hey, this planet means this, the end planet channeling is like, Hey, this planet means this, and. It's giving you these action steps to take to help it express itself more fully, authentically, and positively.

So Planet Channeling really fills that gap between astrology information and [00:15:00] action. So it turns information into inspiration for action. And I think that is so, so important because most of us, when we get astrology readings, we just. It's like wah w wah wah w. We like the information washes over us, but most people don't do anything with it.

They don't use it as a springboard, but planet channeling in your like gets in your face and is like, okay, you're connecting with Venus. Venus needs this from you. Here's steps 1, 2, 3. Or it can be like that once you learn how to do it.

The second reason I think planet channeling is so much more powerful than a typical astrology reading is accuracy. So, like I said earlier, astrologers do their best to interpret your natal planets based on what they know, uh, logically the body of knowledge they have about astrology, and through other client experiences with that same placement [00:16:00] and through what they know about you.

And a lot of times this again, fills, uh, the puzzle piece a little bit, but it's not a perfect fit. When you plan a channel, you are filtering everything you receive through your life experience, your inner knowing, your past, your dreams, your knowledge of your own life, and your self. And these are gonna create answers in planetary conversations that are gonna resonate with you and land with you way more accurately and deeply and personally than somebody else's.

And that brings me to my next point. Planet Channeling has a specificity that astrology readings just don't have nobody, no astrologer knows the in and out [00:17:00] details of your situation better than you. You know it all, you know the names of the people involved, you know the emotions that you feel, you know the thoughts that you have, you know the details of the situation.

You know it all, the astrologer doesn't have this background information and so because of that they cannot give you the specific answers or action steps that you might be craving. But you know, who can, your natal planets. Filtered through your knowledge, your inner voice, and your connection with your lived experience.

So planet channeling is able to give you very specific insight, very specific instruction for very specific problems.

I said earlier that one of the ways that astrology readings are di unsatisfying is [00:18:00] that they're finite and they're only, you know, happening usually once a year, twice a year for an hour at a time. Planet channeling flips that old model on its head, and it allows you to connect with cosmic wisdom and cosmic insight as frequently as you want.

So frequency is my next point here. You can get answers to your questions or interpretations of your natal chart whenever you want. And you do not have to wait on someone else. 

You can access cosmic insight anytime you want, as often as you want, as frequently as you want about anything you want through planet channeling. So in this way where astrology readings are finite, planet channeling is infinite. It is limitless. You can ask your chart anything. At all, and it will answer you.

Whereas you [00:19:00] can ask an astrologer the same question and maybe they don't have expertise in that area, and so they're stumped and you know, they, they wanna do the best they can to help you, but maybe their professional limits just end there. Planet channeling is infinite. It is the opposite. It is wide open.

And my last point is vitality. If you are searching for an experience that's going to turn your astrology chart into a living document, an astrology reading is not gonna do that for you. It will interpret a few pieces and you'll get some information about them, but it's not going to turn your astrology chart into something that you can use as a decision making tool, as a guide, as a gut check tool.

It's just not going to breathe life into your chart. What will bring vitality and life into your astrology chart is planet channeling. Planet channeling is an [00:20:00] embodied, direct experience between you and your planets.

Where the planets are no longer just glyphs on the page, but they become guides. They become friends, they become allies, and you can actually talk with them and have conversations with them on the page. This is not what happens in a classic astrology reading. It's still dead, right. It's just information.

It's just symbols. It's just cliffs on a page. But in planet channeling, you're actually connecting with inner parts of yourself represented by each planet, and so you can think of it as aspects of your higher self external guides. That's a whole nother podcast episode. But the point is, if you want your astrology chart to become a living resource, you're gonna want to plan a channel instead of going to an astrology reading, or in addition to going to an astrology reading, [00:21:00] because astrology readings are here to stay.

They're not going anywhere. And honestly, we always need. Interpreters and translators for foreign languages, and that's what an astrologer is ideally. But planet channeling takes it 10 steps further, and so it's a great thing to do in tandem with a reading or instead of a reading.
