I'm so grateful that my best friend and partner Shawn Buffington reached out to Royce (his former Bishop) and said "you have to be on that podcast - I want to hear your story!" Eventually we got in touch with each other - and what a cool experience for me to be able to sit down with him.
Royce specifically wanted to share the story of his daughter Brooklyn, who was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away from the disease...but he wanted to share her story through HER experience and HER words. He used her journals, cards, social media posts, iPhone notes and other documents to share her thoughts and feelings as she dealt with the tremendous weight of feeling so many emotions. It was a very tender experience to hear from him and you could feel the love that he and his family has for her.
Part 1 is a little about Royce and his upbringing and story. He was kind enough to indulge me with that.
Part 2 is about Brooklyn and her journey - shared through her words - via her father.
