Greetings and welcome to the broadcast. As always, it's my extreme pleasure to spend time with you. So, for those of you watching the video, if it looks like I'm in a hotel room, possibly at a resort in Las Vegas, which, if you can tell all that, you are amazing, even more than usual. That's actually the case. I'm here at the Red Rock Resort. Uh, it's actually in Summerlin, Nevada, which is about a half hour from the strip in Las Vegas. And uh we're having a very nice time. And I thought I would share a few moments with you on our on my podcast. So welcome. Uh today I'm going to take a little departure from our theme. Uh, I've been running several episodes about suffragettes and the men and women, the brave men and women who have uh pioneered uh ways of business. They've opened doors of opportunity, they've shattered glass ceilings, and they've made many, many, many things possible. In fact, a life that I'm sure our great-grandmothers never could have imagined uh today. And so uh of most of these people are gone, although there are some living examples of pioneers. Uh we've talked about um Marlo Thomas, and uh we've talked about Rita Moreno and uh many others that I can't list right now, who are still alive and well in now, May 2026. So I'm gonna take a little departure from that, and just for this morning, I'm gonna talk briefly about something that I would encourage you to think a lot about because it uh can affect very much the quality of our life, and that's really what I'm interested in as a coach, a life coach, is that people enjoy, including me, I'm a people, uh enjoy your best life. And how would you do that? So the question I'm posing is what makes a person rich? So this week the power word is rich. And so I would like all of us, and especially myself, to think about what really makes my life rich? What makes me rich? Well, as of this recording, just for a little informational, Elon Musk is the richest man in the world, and he's clocking in at 800 billion, and he is slated to be, of course, the first trillionaire in the not so distant future as he continues to accumulate wealth. And uh, love him or hate him, Elon Musk, uh he is an innovator. So uh I don't agree with Mr. Musk on a lot of stuff, but I do salute his innovativeness. And uh if you hear some of his interviews, there was one interview I found very compelling uh where he talked about how you risked everything to get where he is, and everything meant millions and millions of dollars. And to, it's really to explore a dream. So there are some admirable qualities of Mr. Musk, and uh there's many things that we enjoy today, no doubt, that are associated with some of the innovations that he pioneered. So anyway, uh the richest man in the world, almost a trillion dollars. And now we're gonna contrast that with uh a very unfortunate fact is that right now almost half, not quite half, but almost half of the world's population lives on less than seven dollars a day. Let that sink in. Almost half, not quite half, of the world's population lives on seven dollars a day. Okay, if you were I don't think of myself as wealthy, but I know I live on a lot more than seven dollars. And most of us live on way more than that. In fact, seven dollars won't buy you lunch pretty much here. So that's a sobering thought, and that's almost half of the world's population. So you're talking about billions of people. And then something that's also I find also compelling as I read my notes over two billion is right now two point two billion people, which represents about a quarter of the world's population does not have drinkable water. About a quarter of the world's population does not have drinkable water. So they spend their days are spent trying to find water to drink. Okay, which is ludicrous when you figure how much we spend this country, for example, on space programs and on super luxuries. Those things are not bad. But if you consider that a quarter of the world's population doesn't have water to drink, and they spend all of their time the lion's share of their time trying to conserve the water that they get and trying to find water that they can use. That's terrible. So returning back to my question, what makes a person rich? Well, if we're following this theme, if you have drinkable water at the ready, if you can turn on your faucet, or if you have bottles of water, which most Americans have cases of water, thank you, Costco, or Sam's Club, or somewhere somewhere where you get bottles and bottle cases and cases of bottled water, uh, you're rich. In terms of water, you are water rich. And of course, when you don't have water to drink, we know all of the powerful and terrible um things that happen to the human body when you don't, when you're not properly hydrated. It's not a glamour thing. It's not about um, you know, what's cool, we are what 60 something percent water. So you need water. You know, if you don't have anything else, milk, juice, sodas, coffee. Oh, did I say coffee? Uh-oh. Um we need water, right? So one quarter of the population doesn't have ready drinkable water. They have to seek out, they have to buy, they have to try to get water, which is it at this day in time is absolutely ridiculous. Another sobering figure is almost half of the world's population, again, just just short of half, almost half of the world's population does not have proper ready sanitation. That means flushing toilets, uh, water to wash your hands with, water to wash your body with, uh proper disposal of garbage. This is not available. That's almost half of the world's population. So here's your here's the question. Do you have trash pickup? I do. Do you have uh like water uh in like a shower, a bathtub apparatus to clean things with? I do. Um, in fact, I would say the vast majority of Americans have that available. So what makes you rich? Well, so far, I'll use myself as an example. I've got lots of water. I have several bottles here, and I've got lots of running clean water actually here in the hotel room, and we actually have great big pools to swim in. Uh I wouldn't recommend drinking it, but but we have water. And the second thing is sanitation. Uh we have a flushing commode, and we have uh soap and water to wash our hands with, and then we have a shower to cleanse our body with. So so far, and most likely my you, my listener, is uh probably in the same boat, so to speak, that I am in where I had those things. So so far you and I are very rich. And do you live on more than $7 a day? Most likely, uh multiples of seven. So so far we're extremely rich. And of course, then there's the the topic of family and friends and health care. If you're hurt, can you go to the doctor? Can you go to a hospital? Can you go to the grocery store? And maybe it might be something not so serious like a head, you know, maybe a headache or you got muscle muscle soreness or something. Can you go and get medication? Most likely the answer is yes. Again, a lot of people can't do that. They don't have that available. Uh dentistry, I just got a new dentist. There's a lot that we have. And those are just the material things. As I mentioned, I got off a little bit. But we're talking about family and friends. I'm blessed with a lot of friends and people that I consider family. Do you have a lot of friends? I'm sure you do. Are you feeling blessed and special? You should, because you are. But as we think about what makes us rich or the abundance in our life, it's good to think about what really makes us rich. Is that we have water to drink, we have a place to bathe, we have a place to recreate, we have all kinds. I mean, the list goes, this this podcast episode would be hours long if I was to list all the things that we enjoy. But we have proper health care and we have dear friends, and we have loving family, and we have people that we can turn to for support. That is what makes us rich, according to me. And if you start researching and reading, there have been a lot of people with a lot of actual money, so they were rich, who weren't particularly happy. And to me, it's kind of like, well, what's the point? Is that you know, people knock themselves out trying to get lots of money. If you're still not happy, what's what's the point? You know, it didn't bring you happiness. So having uh a pet or furry friends, loving family, a hot cup of joe, yay. Um we want to share those, show, share those moments and then sometimes have some solitude where we reflect on how blessed and fortunate we truly are, regardless of your religious or political stance. We're blessed. If you have water to drink, you have loving family, and you can be comfortable and you can take care of your health, you're rich. You really are rich. So take some time today or tonight, sometime soon, and reflect about a beautiful sunset, how great it is to go where you want to go, meet up with friends, and have fun, and then do something kind for someone else. Do something nice, and you will see the shock and awe, which is really sad. Um, yesterday I was in a situation where my friend and I, we did uh we paid it forward, and it was there were two ladies, and you would have thought they won the lottery, and it wasn't much. It really wasn't much, but they were just so surprised at the kindness. So you buy someone a cup of coffee, let someone go ahead of you in line, do something nice and see the surprise and the the admiration they have for you, and it makes you feel good. Do do something nice because you are rich in every way. So that's my lecture for the day. She says, Can we go back to talking to suffragettes, please? Yes, we'll do that too. But from our hey, that's funny file, I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it. That was anonymous, and that was hilarious. So, my friend, have a great day, have a great week, and I will look forward to seeing you next time here on the podcast. Okay? Take care, because you deserve it.
