Hey guys. Alright, so today we have an amazing special guest, my daughter, Caroline Cobb.
SPEAKER_00Hi.
SPEAKER_01Um, so guys, I wanted to share a topic today that me and her talk about a lot. Um, we talk about the spirit of fear. There's, you know, as kids, we have those moments where we are scared of the dark or we're laying in our bed, you know, and um I remember as a kid, you know, we watched movies and things like that, and I had older brothers, so they always kind of messed with me as the younger sibling and the only girl. But, you know, it's like, oh, there's a monster under the bed or or whatever, you know, something in your closet. You see um all these kid movies that actually they don't really help with the spirit of fear. Um, they actually um amplified in in our lives as children. But um in our household, we try to eliminate as much as we can just to keep that from happening. However, it still does happen. And um, we were actually studying last night as a family um the story of Jacob and how he wrestled with God. And so it was just a such a beautiful time because we talked about, you know, instances when when God actually allows us to struggle, he allows us to wrestle with certain things, not because he can't get rid of it in an instant, not because he can't save us instantly, or he can't um fulfill the purpose instantly, but because the process of actually learning to fight is how we gain wisdom, how we gain knowledge and understanding, and how we actually learn to partner with God to confront some of these things that are spiritual. Um, we do have to battle them. Every single person has to confront fear in some form or fashion. And so today we're gonna talk about some ways that me and my husband, as parents, help our children confront some of these things. You know, um there will come a day when they don't have us around, and we have to make sure that they are fully equipped and that they have tools in their tool belt on how to actually fight when we're not around. So it's really important that as parents, we build a foundation in our children how to actually partner with God. We should be teaching them how to do that. Um, and we should be teaching them how to fight because there will be times where we're not around. Maybe they're at a friend's house, maybe they're, you know, on a field trip at school and they encounter certain things, and you're not there, you're not able to literally walk with them hand in hand on how to do it. So it's very important that you teach your children how to war. You know, you should be raising warriors at even a young age. I remember when my children were five and six, seven and eight years old in that young um stage. The Lord said, train them now, train them up now. And I knew that I had to teach them how to fight um with God, for God, you know, for themselves and uh through the word of God. So we are going to go. My daughter has made a list, and she has about 10 ways that she fights when she is confronted with fear, which is the most common one. Um, there are other things that they have to battle, but I would say fear is probably the number one and the most foundational one that if you can learn how to conquer fear, then everything else um will bow after that. So fear is usually the door to every other um fight, every other, you know, spirit that you're gonna have to deal with. Fear is usually the open door. So I'm gonna have her read these. We'll go through a few of them on, you know, in a little bit more description. And um, yeah, I'm excited. So tell us your list. Tell us um how do you fight when you get that fear? And uh sometimes, you know, it maybe she wakes up in the middle of the night and she's scared. Like, what is your first response? These are some of the ways that she chooses to respond first. Alright, go down your list. Let's hear it.
SPEAKER_00Number one, I read my Bible. I read my Bible. Okay. Number two, I pray to Jesus. Number three, I speak in tongues. Number four, memorize verses. Number five, think of heaven. Number six, put on worship music. Number seven, use my worship flag. Number eight, plead thee blood over my house. Number nine, tell fear to leave. Number ten, think how it will be in heaven to see with Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so those are powerful tools. If your children don't have a list that they can go to and reference, I would encourage you to have your children make a list of steps to take because sometimes when you're under that spirit of fear, you actually don't know what to do. You can't think of anything to do. But it's just so good for them to have a list that they can have by their bed, or you know, maybe um, I know in our family we write on the mirrors, you know, scriptures and things like that, so that they can constantly see it and do it. So of course, we all know that reading the Bible, um, that's a little bit for older kids, you know, who can actually read. Um, pray to Jesus, we all can do that. We that's usually probably our first step, I would say, is to call on the name of Jesus. Um, speaking in tongues, now you know not every children, um, not every child does that, I don't believe, at a young age. I I believe that they should. Um, we should be baptizing our children in the Holy Spirit at as early as possible so that they are able to use that weapon against the enemy. It's a very powerful weapon, and um, it's a secret um your secret love language with God. And so you're literally calling on heaven from a heavenly language, and you're able to um counteract those spirits in a lot stronger way than um just through you know English. Not saying that English doesn't work, it does, but I just believe that's another deeper um level when you can when your children have been baptized in the Holy Spirit and they can use their prayer language and pray in tongues. Memorize a verse. This is very good. Obviously, we do this a lot in church. We teach kids, you know, to memorize verses. Um, you know, one of the verses that we um we teach our kid to to remember is the one about God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind. And so that is a really powerful one. Um, that's 2 Timothy 1.7, because fear is not our portion, power is. So I try to tell my daughter, you know, if fear's in the room, you need to get this fight in you that is like, um, excuse me, why are you in my room? Like this is my room, not yours. And um, so anyways, it's just a powerful tool for us to be able to kind of confront that spirit. We need to, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to raise up that power, that boldness in us to to really just take authority over that spirit. Um, number five, think of heaven. So, Caroline, tell me a little bit about the last time that you were scared, what you did and and what you started, um, how you how you were thinking of heaven. Like, we can think of heaven, but tell us exactly what you did and how that brought peace to you.
SPEAKER_00I just made like I decorated my room in heaven, because I feel like we'll have a room, and I just decorate it however I would like it.
SPEAKER_01So, like, what did you decorate? Like, talk about some of the things that you imagined being in your room because I mean that helps you get that peace and stay at that place.
SPEAKER_00In my room, I like in my room right now, I have a Jesus, like a stuffed animal Jesus, and I like would like to have that in my room too. And I would like my room to be like right next to Jesus' throne too, and just like everything about Jesus in my room.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and so so she even was telling me, you know, that next morning that, you know, she was scared, and and I said, Well, what did you do? And she said, Well, I just started decorating my room in heaven. And she said, you know, I was picking out like my my bed sheets and my comforter, and I wanted to have a comforter with roses on it, and you know, it's like paint your room and and pick out your light fixtures and your lamps and what kind of decorations and you know, all the things, and so it was so beautiful because in that moment she encountered a spirit of fear, but then she elevated her spirit and her mind to a higher level than the spirit of fear could actually um be. And so actually, that spirit of fear bowed because really fear is just an imagination in our mind. So when she shifted her mind and took her um, took the fear literally higher, it actually had the bow. I think about um the eagle, and you've seen the videos of where the eagle grabs the snake, and they have the whole word about, you know, if you take the snake higher, it actually can't breathe because of the atmosphere. The eagle's the only one that can um go to that height um and still breathe with that um that atmosphere. And so it's really cool because that's basically what she did in the spiritual realm was she took that imagination of fear and she just took it to heaven with her, and it was immediately conquered through the place in which she took her mindset to a higher level. Um, that was number five. Number six, put on worship music. You know, we constantly listen to worship music, we do not listen to any secular music. Um, we we just constantly have that on. So she knows how to do that. Um, you know, we can uh she they use my YouTube channel and and I have all the music saved, and so they just literally click on the the music and worship. Um number seven, use my worship flag. So we have bought her a worship flag, and that is just really powerful for deliverance and healing, and um just encountering the Holy Spirit in our household. Um, there are times where, you know, if she's just having a rough day, she comes home from school, maybe she's frustrated or angry, and you know, there's been times where she's just gotten her flag and she just goes out in the backyard and just starts waving it around and turns on worship music. Sometimes she uses music, sometimes it's just you know, just waving the flag and and just praying and speaking the word of God. And that's been really powerful. Um, it shifts atmospheres, it shifts your room, it shifts your household, it shifts um your land, your property. So I would encourage um everyone, even adults, to use that tactic. If you don't have a worship flag, I don't know, get some toilet paper, you know, wave it around. You can use anything, a towel. I know she's looking at me crazy, but you know, it's really powerful. God doesn't care about the item that you have, um, he just cares about the posture of your heart. So uh use whatever you got. Um plead the blood of Jesus over my house. We do that constantly in our household. Um, we do take communion daily. The Bible says that the um disciples broke bread daily. So we do still implement that. Um, I know a lot of people do it once a year, maybe once every three years, but I feel like if the word of God said that they did it daily, I'm gonna do it daily. And that's been huge in our household, um, in conquering sickness, in conquering um health, um, fear, all kinds of things. So we see that a lot. We plead the blood. Anytime we feel like something is off in the spiritual realm, guys, use the blood. It is a tool, it has been paid for. Jesus poured it out on the cross, and it's freely yours. You just have to actually use it, and you have to actually take authority, okay? Number nine, uh, tell fear to leave. That is how Jesus did it. He simply said, go leave, get out, um, be healed. So he just gave commands. You can also do that. Make sure that you use in Jesus' name. If you tell fear to leave, it's just gonna stand there and wait because it it doesn't have to listen to you, it has to listen to the name of Jesus, okay? So if it doesn't leave with the name of Jesus, another tactic I use is use the name Yeshua. Because the name Yeshua um incorporates salvation. Yeshua actually means salvation. So that is declaring the price that he paid on the cross, okay? Use that. Um, fear leave in Jesus' name. If you still feel it there or it comes right back, fear leave in the name of Yeshua. Okay. That's just another kind of like double punch in the in the face to the devil. Think how it will be in heaven with Jesus. That's again um just elevating your mindset to a higher, higher realm. Um, and that that fear cannot stay, okay? All right, let's read some other scriptures on fear that you can use with your children or even yourself, okay. And remember, God's presence drives out fear, okay? Isaiah 41, 10. So do not fear, for I am with you. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Fear loses power when you realize you are not alone. It's not a it's not so much about getting fear to leave, but learning to usher in the presence of God, learning to shift into no, the Lord says he will never leave me nor forsake me. So he's here, and I promise you, when you come to the realization that you're not alone and Jesus is actually with you, when you believe that in your heart, fear cannot stay. Joshua 1 9, be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's movement with God. Okay. Perfect love breaks fear. We see this in 1 John 4 18. There is no fear in love. So if fear is present, love is not present, okay? But perfect love drives out fear. God has perfect love, his presence, his holy spirit, his son Jesus is perfect love. So if perfect love is there, fear cannot be there. It drives it out. Think about driving something out. That's forceful, okay? Fear and God's love can't rule in the same place. When you receive his love, fear gets evicted. Romans 12, 2. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Fear often lives in thoughts. Freedom comes by renewing them with truth. So this is what happened when she would begin to decorate her room and think about heaven. She was transforming her mind. She was renewing her mind, telling her mind, no, you don't think earthly, you think heavenly. And she forced her mind to go to heaven in her thoughts, and that is where fear lost its grip. A few more. Philippians 4, 6 through 7. Do not be anxious about anything, and the peace of God will guard your hearts and your minds. Okay, prayer replaces panic with peace that guards you. Luke 10 19. I have given you authority to overcome all the power of the enemy. That word all to overcome all the power of the enemy. The enemy does have power, but he does not have all power. That's the Holy Spirit. Fear isn't just a feeling, sometimes it's something you have authority over. Remember that. It isn't just a feeling. You have to actually shift into authority. No, you don't rule me, I rule you. That's what the word of God says. So I take authority. You bow and I rule. Psalms 34, 4. I sought the Lord and he answered me. He delivered me from all my fears. Not some. Again, there's that word again. All. All my fears. He doesn't just deliver you from some, he delivers you from all. Now that doesn't mean all at one time. That means it can be a process, but his word says all. He will deliver you from all your fears. Psalms 56, 3. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. It's talking about God. Notice it doesn't say if I am afraid. It says when. In other words, you will be afraid. You're gonna face fear. You are going to have to challenge this in your mind. It doesn't say if, it says when you will face this. Fear may come, but trust is your response. You should respond with what the word of God says and trust that over what your mind is saying. Second Timothy 1 7, this is the one we talked about before. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Pay attention, one spirit of fear takes down three things power, love, and a sound mind. So if you get rid of fear, you automatically get power. You have love, and you have a sound mind. Don't let that spirit of fear steal from you. It's a thief. It says the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Fear is coming to steal power, steal your love, and steal the soundness of your mind. Don't let that demon take what is not his. Don't let him steal from you. Okay? I promise you, if you were walking down the road and somebody grabbed your purse and you didn't even have a whole lot of money in it or anything, but you were gonna fight. You're gonna turn around and you're gonna run after him, and you're gonna be like, give me my stuff back. That's what you got to do with the spirit of fear. Don't take my power, love, and a sound mind. Don't steal from me. Don't touch my stuff. Okay? So we got to get a little bit warrior. We got to get a little bold in us with the spirit of fear. It's very confrontational. It likes a challenge. So you're gonna have to challenge it back. You're gonna have to, you know, get your big boy panties on, and um, boys don't wear panties, but you know what I'm saying? Like, get your get your big girl pants on and get get a fight in you and take that thing down. All David used was a simple little stone, so it doesn't take much, but he said, You come with me with spear and bow and arrow, but I come with you in the name of the Lord my God. So you don't need a whole lot, all you need is the backing of heaven. If you need help, guys, don't be afraid to ask God to send angels to assist you. You can ask for help, you can ask for heavenly help. Say, God, this spirit of fear is not leaving my room. Please send your angels to help me and assist me. They are for the sons and daughters of the Lord. They're for those who who are to inherit salvation. They are that it's their job to help us and assist us. They helped and assisted Jesus. So don't think, oh, well, you know, I don't know, maybe some of you don't believe in the assistance of angels, but I will tell you, if angels assisted Jesus, then I want them to assist me too. Okay. So if you ever um get to a point where you just feel like it's not breaking, you've done all these 10 steps and nothing is breaking, it's still there, call on God and ask Him to send angels to help you, okay. Guys, this was good, and I hope that this helped you in how to teach your children to have a foundation of um some things and how to fight, but other than that, um, guys, even as adults, we need to have this list, we need to have tools in our tool belt, and a lot of times we do have tools in our tool belt, we just don't use them. So don't forget to use them and um let's take down this spirit of fear, don't let it rule you, okay? I love you guys. See you next week. Um
