Are you walking in your purpose—or have you overlooked the purpose God has already placed right in front of you?

In this episode, Codie speaks directly to wives, mothers, mothers-to-be, and women who may be wrestling with the feeling that they aren’t “doing enough” for God. In a generation that celebrates movement, platforms, ministry titles, and visible impact, it can be easy to mistake stillness for idleness and the hidden place for a lack of purpose.

But what if God isn’t holding you back? What if He’s preparing you?

From pregnancy and motherhood to cooking dinner, folding laundry, serving your family, and stewarding the atmosphere of your home, this episode challenges women to recognize the Kingdom significance of what can easily feel mundane. Your home can be a place of ministry. Your children are disciples you’ve been entrusted to raise. Your marriage is worth stewarding. And the quiet seasons at the feet of Jesus may be where God gives you the extra oil you’ll need for what comes next.

Before asking, “What is my purpose in the nations?” perhaps we first need to ask:

Am I embracing the purpose God has already entrusted to me at home?

It may feel hidden. It may feel ordinary. But it is not insignificant.

Hey guys, alright, so I want to touch on a topic today that I truly believe uh I have seen a lot of people wrestling with um mostly women, I will say that, but I've seen a lot of women lately who are wrestling with the idea of am I in purpose? Am I fulfilling my purpose? Am I where I'm supposed to be? Am I doing um enough for God? A lot of these women um that I hear these questions from are young mothers or maybe mothers to be. Um, it's very much the younger generation. And I just wanted to bring some encouragement and some hope to some of you women who are asking yourself this question. Um, am I doing enough for God? Am I walking in purpose? It's almost like you feel like you're in a season where you're um you're what maybe looks like from the external view of of laziness, or you know, you're not doing enough, or you just feel you feel like you're in this place of um really you're so used to just the go go go and the do-do-do that God has actually um shifted you in this season into a a stillness and a a sitting at his feet and learning a new season that you've never learned before. Um, you know, the younger generation, I would say in the early 20s, you know, it's very much this high-paced. Um, you got social media, you got everything is quick, you got AI, you got quick responses, you got quick outcomes, you got everything is quick, quick, quick, um, fast food, you know, all of this very quick. And I think that this generation is great for that because I do believe that Jesus is coming back soon, and we don't have time to be sitting around and doing nothing. But I do believe that there are those who are in a season of uh quickness, and then there are those who are in a season of learning kind of how to sit back, be still, and wait upon the Lord and um get more oil. You know, I love the story about the five bridesmaids or the ten bridesmaids, five bridesmaids had oil. The other five actually had oil too. Uh, they all had oil. The difference was five of them had extra oil, and so I believe we're in a a season and a time where we we are seeing the ten bridesmaids, and everybody has oil, but there are those five who actually are he's calling to a season of of stillness, he's calling to a season of sitting at his feet, and that doesn't mean doing nothing, it just means your spiritual state is at a stillness. Um, you are you're not you're not overcome by all the busyness anymore. You are you are in this place of learning how to actually steward zeal. Um at first, when we get that zeal, we get baptized, we get saved, you know, everybody's an evangelist, everybody go preach the gospel, make disciples, let's go to the downtown, you know, area and tell everybody about Jesus, and we're, you know, we're it's like everybody's evangelist, right, when they get saved and baptized. And then um we get so zealous in that, and that is a good thing, but there is a time where God says, Hey, I actually need you to pull back, I actually need you to surrender your purpose to me, like surrender preaching the gospel to me, and actually sit with me and let me give you some wisdom and knowledge and understanding on um how to carry the weight that I want to bring you in later, but I need to teach you right now how to actually carry it, and I've got to do some some uh heart surgery, I've got to do some things within you so that you are ready to take um that second uh wind of zeal to the nations and and to do all of these different things uh for my kingdom. The God really has to kind of almost let you go, and then he pulls you back just so that he could relaunch you. Um, I think about a slingshot, you know, you have to actually pull it back for it to have a greater impact and a greater capacity um to make uh a more to make an impact, to make a bigger impact um for the target that it's going after. And so I see that a lot right now. I see a lot of women who are um maybe about to have children, or they have just had children, or maybe they're in a breastfeeding season, and I will tell you all of these areas will refine you. Um being pregnant will refine you, having a baby for the first time will refine you, breastfeeding, you know, for two or three years, however long you do it, um, that will refine you, but it's actually such a beautiful refinement because it gives you um it gives you the opportunity to choose humility, to choose uh being a servant to even your children. Um, even a newborn baby, you constantly have to learn to serve. And I just really want to encourage uh some of you women that are feeling like you're not doing anything, like you feel idle, you it's it's um it's foreign to you because you you're like I've never had to do this before, and it feels like I'm doing nothing, and I feel like I'm not fulfilling purpose, but I will tell you that the very first purpose of a woman is actually to be the helper of the man, and then the second most important purpose given to women by God is to be fruitful and multiply. So motherhood is literally the second uh purpose that God gives women. Uh the first one again, he says uh to Adam, I'm gonna create a helper for you. And so he um he creates Eve as the helper, and then he says, Be fruitful and multiply. So motherhood is such a um it's it's a purpose, it's our purpose, and I think we we miss that sometimes. We think that our purpose needs to be preaching on a platform, or maybe we're the children's minister at a church, or you know, maybe we're the leader of the intercessor group or prayer team, or you know, maybe we lead the homeless shelter ministry, or you know, we you know celebrate recovery with you know or prison or or whatever we're leading in ministry, and we call that our purpose. And don't get me wrong, that's that is your purpose if that's what God has called you to, but I'm just saying, don't discount the mundane, don't discount those times of raising your children as being purpose. Um, don't discount serving your husband and fixing his dinner and keeping the house clean and doing laundry and you know um cleaning you know your house and your cars, and you know, don't don't discount those small things as fulfilling purpose. Because as a mother, uh for me, I have really just come to realization of the impact that I can make for my family, for my husband, for my children, as I serve them in housework. Um, you know, think about laundry when you're folding laundry and you're in the presence of Jesus and you're you got worship music on, and it's just you and Jesus and worship music, and yet you're touching every piece of clothing that your children will put on their body. You're literally permeating the presence of Jesus through your worship while you're doing laundry, and it's and there's um there's a story where Paul talks about, you know, they anointed the cloths and they they saw the the cloth miracle signs and waters came just because someone touched the cloth. And I think about that even with laundry, and it's like do we really understand the impact as mothers that we can make in the lives of our children, in the lives of our husbands as they go to work every day, and here we are folding their laundry, and we're prophesying over their laundry, maybe, I don't know. Um, you know, I r I remember my daughter, she loves to have her back scratched at night, you know, and and I just many times would just scratch her back and I would just begin to prophesy over her. Um, one time, you know, she wanted me to to put lotion on her feet and massage her feet, and you know, I just began to to to massage her feet and just you know declare that she would preach the gospel to all the nations that God would take her feet in places that she never imagined to go. And you know, do we take do we take advantage of that time that really is ministry? You know, um one of my ministry partner, Abigail, you know, she is um about to have a baby, and you know, we were going through all of her clothes and the socks and just like every little thing, and I just thought, wow, like to think about like you could literally just see the presence of Jesus, like everything that you touch, your child is going, it's gonna be a part of your children's lives, and you literally can just like saturate that in the presence of Jesus so that when they come into the world, they they come back into this home that has just been saturated and stewarded in the presence of Jesus with worship music and you know the atmosphere and just everything, but I I just truly feel that as women we take advantage of the time that we have to make an impact for the kingdom um and just the small things of just you know, um, when our kids go to school, you know, for me as a stay-at-home mom, my kids go to school and I come back home, I I go in their rooms, I pick up everything, I make their beds, but I'm not just doing that because I want the house to look clean, you know, or because I do it because I know my daughter loves to come home and just get in her room and get in the presence and cleanse from her daily life at school and and just sit and with Jesus, and I know she loves to do that, and so I was, you know, her first day of school, I was like, you know, I know she's gonna be stepping into a new school, a new atmosphere, you know, around a lot of people, a lot of things she discerns very well in the spiritual realm. So I knew, like, okay, she's gonna need a place to just come and cleanse when she gets home. And so, you know, I took time to just make her bed and just um really cleanse her room out and just you know, speak over it and pray over her room and and just make it a place prepared for her to come home to uh to sit with Jesus. You know, my son, I I often go in their rooms and I and I pray and I prophesy, maybe I'll just have my time with Jesus that day in their room, just to usher in the presence, you know, to just keep that atmosphere available for my children to be able to come home to a place of peace. Um, I know that my husband doesn't like, you know, a lot of laundry piled up. So when I began to see the laundry piled up, you know, I love my husband, so I I'm like, okay, I I know he doesn't want to come home from work and you know, maybe have a stressful day or whatever. I want to make sure that the house is a place of peace and rest, and that he can come home and not have to be overwhelmed by clutter, you know, by by messiness, just all of that stuff. It just really helps um keep the atmosphere at a place of peace, and that is serving your children, that is serving your spouse, that is being a helper. That is um, you know, that's the ministry of being able to be at home as a mom, and I know some of you moms may work full-time jobs, but you know, you have the weekends, like I really just want to encourage moms, like you can make a greater impact in the spiritual state of your family than you think. I don't think women really realize how powerful they truly are in the spiritual realm, um, and the impact that just a prayer or a cry out to God or just a day of dancing in your house, or a day of you know, worship music, or singing, or um just continuing to steward that atmosphere like makes a big difference in the lives of your children and the lives of your spouse. And I just wanted to encourage women don't discount your purpose at home. Uh don't discount the way that you can minister to your family through cooking them a meal and and maybe singing or putting on worship music or washing the dishes and like just really just appreciating the ability to allow your family to step in that type of atmosphere because you have stewarded the presence of Jesus well. Because um, I think when we talk about serving people, we automatically think um we have to do something for somebody like visible, like something that somebody sees us doing, but I think um we need to go back to a deeper depth of serving and realize that if you're a mom and you hate laundry, I would challenge you to search your heart as to why you hate folding your clothes and washing the clothes of your children and your husband so that they have clothes to wear, so that they have clean clothes to wear, so that they um aren't in lack, so that they are um walking in provision through their clothes being washed and folded and put up in their closets and in their drawers. Like, why do you hate that so much? Why do you hate cooking dinner? Why do you hate actually feeding your family? That that tells me, if you hate that, that tells me that there's a place in your heart that Jesus needs to work on because you should be joyful in walking in your original purpose given by God. Everybody wants gifts, they want to prophesy, they want to be the prophet, the apostle, the evangelist, whatever. You know, everybody wants all these titles, yet they don't even appreciate the title of mom. They don't appreciate the title of wife, they don't appreciate the title of daughter or sister. Like, can we get back to original purpose? And once we have received and accepted that gift from God of being a helper to our husbands and being a mother to our children, then we can talk about purpose in the body, purpose in the church, purpose in ministry, purpose in the nations. Because I'll be honest with you, there's no way you can be a mother to nations if you don't even appreciate your purpose as a mother in your own home. You can't be a prophet or an evangelist, a preacher and a teacher, an apostle, whatever you want to call yourself in the church. If you at home don't even appreciate the first partnership between you and your husband that God gave you, if you don't have your household down bright, if you don't actually have a joy and a zeal to serve your husband and to be his partner and his helper, your very first purpose given by God, and you don't enjoy being a mom, you don't enjoy fixing food and doing laundry and cleaning the house? You don't enjoy that? Your second purpose given by God? Why in the world if you have rejected the first two purposes he gave you? Why in the world would he send you out with a purpose when you haven't even accepted the first two purposes that he gave you? So many people are walking in quote unquote what they call purpose, yet they've rejected their original ordained purpose given by God in their household. So as women, I encourage you this week do an evaluation. What do you constantly speak out of your mouth that you don't like? I hate doing laundry. I hate cleaning. I hate cooking. Why? Those are the things that provide for your children. Those are the things that feed your family so they can grow and be nourished and live. Those are the things and the areas that keep your children from getting sick when you keep your house clean. Why do you hate that so much? Why do you hate providing for your children? Why do you hate serving your spouse? Why do you hate laundry? Let's get to the root of why we continue to speak death over our purpose. And we can all laugh about it and we can post all the things on social media, you know, and everyone thinks it's funny, and you know, everyone agrees, you know, when people post stuff about how terrible doing laundry is and how terrible it is to cook every single night. But really, you're just cursing yourself, and you're really just curc cur cursing the purpose that God gave you. So I challenge you this week, evaluate what you don't like about being a wife and a mother, and let's get back to loving the purpose that God chose for us and gave to us. I love you guys.
