Speaker 3What's going on? This is Scalarius, I am John Olson and with me, as always, is DW, the diseased waterfowl serene.
Speaker 4Seriously.
Speaker 3What you sturdy duck you.
Speaker 4Yeah, diseased.
Speaker 1I'm sure people love that so I am drinking because I I'm not.
Speaker 3I found it best just not to embellish on whatever you but you actually acknowledge that one, so I I'm going to call it a win. Yeah, okay All right.
Speaker 4So today is the Mountain Dew, the hard Mountain Dew, baja Blast, nice, and I'm pretty sure I've had this flavor before. I think I can't remember yeah you have.
Speaker 3We're not going to talk about the other stuff that you drink. Not quite yet. We're going to wait for a little while to discuss the other stuff that you drink.
Speaker 1And there's reasons why.
Speaker 3But yeah, we're going to wait for a little bit.
Speaker 4The thing is I usually get a variety pack, and I don't think I so I've done this so many times. I now have a variety pack of Mountain Dew, of one brand of hard cider, another brand of hard cider, of Mountain Dew of one brand of hard cider, another brand of hard cider. I still have some. What is it Not your father's root beer, or whatever? So I've got basically I don't. I drink once a week on Mondays, pretty much, so I don't go through it very quickly, but I do have a big variety now of of various drinks so I like I like to mix it up and not do hard cider every week.
Speaker 4Today we got um mountain dew, so so is mrs serene uh, okay, so she nervous at all.
Speaker 3She's like man you're. The fridge is getting full with all this uh funky alcohol, so what no?
Speaker 4she does. I mean, I drink so infrequently that if I do have anything at all, like even a glass of wine, she's like is everything all right? Do you have a bad day at work, or something like. So she thinks it's weird and she I, I've had to start drinking on my own because she has stopped. She stopped when, um, she was pregnant with our daughter. After she was born, she was so worried that, uh, having a drink would put her in such a deep sleep that she wouldn't hear the baby crying. So she didn't even drink after our daughter was born and she just never got back into the habit of it and so she's had. I think the last thing she had was, um, at Christmas time someone made a hard uh apple cider.
Speaker 1Um not.
Speaker 4Not like a hard cider from the, the orchard type of thing, like someone made a hard, uh, apple cider, um, not not like a hard cider from the, the orchard type of thing, like someone made a hot, a hot hard cider and she tried a bit of that, um. But other than that she has not been drinking a lot in the last 10 years and you know she just she just doesn't miss it, so you know she'll be. I am usually driving us, I'll drive her somewhere and she still has no interest in drinking.
Speaker 4So but whatever you know that's, that's fine.
Speaker 3So and you don't drink anywhere other than home.
Speaker 4I mean, I I know it's very rarely unless very rarely, well, because hotel gig or something.
Speaker 3Then you might have a couple, but and again it's. It's very rarely, very rarely.
Speaker 4Well, because hotel gig or something, then you might have a couple, but and again it's, it's partly because I don't want to drink and drive, and usually I'm the one driving my place myself places so I can't have anything then.
Speaker 3So yeah it's my responsibility of you, dubs.
Speaker 4I know that that's something you should look into. Yeah, just responsibility.
Speaker 3So I don't know, I, I, that's what I've heard, and this, yeah, that's what I've heard. So, hey, uh, there's a lot of really cool things happening in the world of scolarius, and I feel that we should discuss at least a couple of them number one um. We have two new countries, france and japan. So I'm going to take this time to say domo arigato um you know, yeah, yeah konnichiwa, konnichiwa as well, but Domo Arigato obviously means thank you.
Speaker 3In a way, you are very whatever it may be, I don't know, but it worked for Mr Roboto, so we're going to say it like that. Like I said, france I don't know how much they're going to listen, especially if they go back into our backlogs. They might hear a couple things, including an apology letter for me to the French people, which might give them a laugh or two, which would be fine. But yeah, so france, uh paris specifically, and japan, are now uh listeners of scolarius, which was pretty badass.
Speaker 4I, I might, I might add and if anyone from not not just these countries, but anywhere outside the u S?
American Dream and Caps Guest Interview
Speaker 4Canada and can't, or or Canada, if you're listening. We want to know how this came about. Like, are you an English speaking person in that country? Like, did you originate from the U? S and you move there? Are you there for work? Are you there temporarily, do you? Do you have someone translating this? We're we're baffled. We don't know what it is and I would love to find out what the deal is we just want you to.
Speaker 3we want you to reach out. See, reach out, baby. Reach out to us, say hey, dw. And reach out to us, baby, say here's the thing. We want you to hold out your hand and say listen, listen, we want to know, we want to know what it is that you, how you listen to us, you know the American dream, you know that's the rules, baby, that's right.
Speaker 4So was that your Eddie Murphy or SpongeBob?
Speaker 3Eddie Murphy would be way better. Listen, listen, listen. This is more like Eddie Murphy right here. Listen up.
Speaker 4No, it's not. It's just as much, eddie. No.
Speaker 3See Eddie Murphy would be like. And tomorrow morning we're having waffles. See that, that's more Eddie Murphy. So okay, anyways, we want you to reach out and let us know and do that. You can do that by well, maybe you should. Possibly, if you want to, you can reach out to DW, DW Serene Comedian on Facebook. You can find me at John Olson Comedian 2.0 on Facebook.
Speaker 4You can find us both together on.
Speaker 3Facebook. We're not a couple. No, we're not a couple. You can find us right there on the Scolari's page on Facebook. We do still, surprisingly enough, have a tick tock page. I don't know how much we're going to use it, though, but we do have it. I'm just throwing it out there.
Speaker 4We have it for now. We don't know what will happen tomorrow.
Speaker 3We don't know how long it's going to be around. Yeah, but you know Instagram is, you know we are scolarius there and you know, if you want to listen to every single episode that we've ever done, you can do that at scolariaspodbuzzsproutcom. And there's more stuff, there's more stuff and this is the cool stuff. I am excited about this stuff right here. If you go to crowdmade slash collections, slash ScolariusPod, and you know what you're going to find, do you know? Do you know what you're going to find? Dw? I know, yes.
Speaker 4You're going to find. Well, here, I'm not going to be able to remember all of them, but you'll be able to be able to find Scolarius, but you'll be able to find Scleria's shirts.
Speaker 3Yep.
Speaker 4We have coffee mugs, we have Hellhound's dog collars. Yep. And I'm sure there's more, but we also have I believe you put that one up on the website, the one that you showed me recently. Yep, we now have a quote that apparently I say um and and scolarius 316, which I don't know what you're supposed to, scolari. How is that? I?
Speaker 3I don't know, I don't know what scolarius 316 is supposed to mean. Back in good old 1996, there was a pretty famous professional wrestler who once said Austin 316 says I just whooped your ass and I thought that maybe you know, we should say Scalarius 316, we just entertained your ass. So that's what Scalarius 316 is. Is that Scalarius 316, we just entertained your ass. So that's what scolarius 316 is. Is that scolarius 316? We just entertained your ass.
Speaker 4So if you want a shirt that's going to make people say what does that mean? Or who is dw?
Speaker 3yep, then we have shirts yeah, and they're, they're not expensive, like everything's under 30 bucks. So, um, I will say this uh, we do have scolarius ghosters, not coasters ghosters, uh, which is pretty awesome. Like you said, we have the here's the thing, uh, dw. Serene t-shirt. Also the here's the thing dw. Serene. Scalarius 316 t-shirt and hoodie the Scalarius logo. Beanie the real logo. We also had the alternative, but one of the coolest things is not only can you find a leash for your hellhounds, a collar for your hellhounds, but you can also get the scolarius hellhounds pet bowl. That's right, yep, it's just. Basically it's a bowl that says the hellhounds. People will know, you will know, and it'll be a lot of fun. So, like I said, just go to crowdmadecom, forward slash collections, forward slash scolarius pod, and you can order up all of that stuff or if you go to crowd made and just search for a scolarius, you should be able to find it.
Speaker 4So yeah, I suppose you could do that too, yeah, so I think I think we should start now, while his dog is licking his face that this would have been the perfect time to start that was just to catch him off guard, like here he is like oh crap well, you know, that's the funniest thing.
Speaker 3I know this is audio only, but we can see what's going on. You guys, uh, and, and that was a a perfect, perfect, uh, I guess, segue in a way to um, our guest this evening. Uh, he is part of caps in appleton, wisconsin, which, but, but they go all over, they go all over wisconsin and cap starts for, starts for no, it stands for, uh, cryptids, anomalies and paranormal society, and this is rez from caps, rez. How's it going tonight?
Speaker 5oh yeah, thank you for bringing me aboard tonight. I'd like to say thank you to the american Dream people.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's right baby. The American Dream here. The American Dream is running this show tonight. That's right.
Speaker 5Oh yeah, see the American Dream. He knows what he's doing behind that keyboard there. He's going to teach you a thing or two about this podcasting world, thanks. How are we all doing tonight?
Speaker 4So, first off, who was the pooch that we saw sneak onto your camera there?
Speaker 5That's my little hellhound. That's Robbie.
Speaker 4Seems like a sweet little pup.
Speaker 5Can be until you make him upset and you know he's all 90 pounds of pit bull yeah.
Speaker 3All right, I see how that could work. So, all right, Rez, you got a dish man. We kind of connected. We connected way back we're going to talk about this a little bit we connected way back at Pararock, the Annex yeah, Pretty cool little shindig. I wish it would have done a lot better than what it did. I feel it had more potential than anything. I mean it was amazing. A lot of people, really cool people there. A lot of people, really cool people there. It kind of I was very upset by the lack of people that showed up Because I feel they would have. They really would have really, really enjoyed that, that Paracon.
Speaker 5Oh yeah.
Speaker 3But you know, we kind of you know, we talked there and said, hey, you know we do this podcast and you're like, yeah, we could do something. And there's been a few things that have happened over the last what six or eight months but we finally got together.
Speaker 5Yep, it takes time. You know we're always on the road doing something, investigating or doing Paracons, plus having a family. You know it's kind of hard to get nailed down to one spot for an hour or two.
Speaker 3Ah well, I mean, I wish we could say the same, but I, you know, we, I mean, yeah, we go everywhere and do this, things and everything else, but we always have uh, we always have our recording time. We carve that stuff out Sometimes, you know, there have been moments where we can't get it done, but we always end up getting an episode or two out, right Dubs. Yep. Yeah, yeah, we always do that, all right, so tell us about it.
Speaker 5I want to say something to Dubs over here. You got one kid, only one kid, right? Yes?
Speaker 1I'm taking it.
Speaker 5Have some more, she'll start drinking again, trust me. Okay, I have four biological children altogether. I got seven with the wife, along with grandchildren and everything else. Believe me, pop a few more of them out, she'll start drinking. She won't care if she sleeps through the night, it'll be all right at that point you care about anything.
Wisconsin Cryptids and Paranormal Investigations
Speaker 3I mean honestly not really you. Just as the time goes by, just minute by minute, yep, that's day by by day. That's that's how it goes. So tell us a little bit about, about caps either. There's a good. You know you said cryptids in there and immediately my yeah, you got my attention. So tell us about caps.
Speaker 5You know when you guys were established, who's all in the group and uh, I mean, yeah, well, start with that barnaby jones is lead investigator and founder of caps um five years ago. We just celebrated this summer fifth year anniversary of caps. I've been part of the team a little over three years now. Um, I am pretty much an investigator, a psychic medium. I'm more of an investigator first. That's why, if you ever watch any of our shows, underneath my title says investigator. But I also use my abilities also during my investigations to figure things out. We have two full-time mediums, stephanie Lynn and Ellie Weisenhall. We have two full-time mediums, stephanie Lynn and Ellie Weisenhall. Then we have a handful of investigators that are part of the team. We have Ma, who's Barnaby's mother. We have Derek, who also is a medium, let's see. We have Ethan's, our skeptic, which you got to have one of them because everyone's got to learn to debunk things and look at all sides of the coin, not just go in with the one side, otherwise everything's haunted. So you know there's a couple of members out there, you know. So we're a closely knit group. We put on documentaries on YouTube all the time and definitely have our own shows. You can find us right on YouTube Wisconsin Caps if you put that in. Or you can go us right on youtube, wisconsin caps, if you put that in or you can go to the website, wisconsincapscom.
Speaker 5Um, I've joined the team fires to be working with the paranormal being native american. Um, I never really put much into cryptids right away and when I joined the team like, hey, you want, want to go look for Bigfoot and I go a day in the woods? Sure, why not? I love being in the woods, as you can tell by my backdrop. That's where I'm at peace. So I went out there and Barnaby's showing me all these different things here and there about what to watch for, for signs of Sasquatch or Bigfoot, and I go hmm, I've been seeing these on my reservation for years, never put two and two together. So that kind of opened it up for me. Okay, let's take a look at this. Because when I was growing up, you know, yeah, we had the legends and the lores talking about Bigfoot with the natives, but the only evidence we ever had was the, the patty film, and that was like to me. That wasn't enough for me to go.
Speaker 3Let's go looking for it you're talking about the patterson gimley, right? Yeah, um. So I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt you, but I have to go ahead and ask you this Where's your reservation?
Speaker 5at Bowler Wisconsin.
Speaker 3Okay, and where's?
Speaker 5the Central Stockton, Virginia reservation.
Speaker 3Okay, is that Central or is that more West?
Speaker 5Northwoods.
Speaker 3Oh okay, way up there. Like kind of by UP up in there.
Speaker 5About an hour away from the UP.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 5You know, right off Highway 29. There, uh, about an hour away from the up, okay, you know, right off highway 29. Those that don't know the reservation, a lot of them know the casino. We have north star casino right off of highway 29. We're right in between green bay and wausau okay, very, very cool.
Speaker 3So you said that you seen the bigfoot on your reservation.
Speaker 5I've seen signs of them. I haven't actually seen bigfoot themselves. Um, I've seen tree stuffings, axes, things like that that they say are you know signs of where they've come through? Trees bent completely over, pointing in one direction, things like that.
Speaker 3Okay, so I don't want to be this guy, like you know, Mr Skeptic here, but I'm just going to say, like could that be wind and things like that?
Speaker 5Yep, Now there's a lot of times it can be wind and straight straight wind storms, stuff like that. But when you have some of the stuff where the branches are interwoven with each other, it takes thumbs to do that. It just doesn't fall naturally that way. So it's things to look for.
Speaker 4Wow. So what makes you think that that's Bigfoot and not just someone who's in the woods, bored and made a structure out of sticks?
Speaker 5um public lands. I could say, yeah, it could be someone being bored making a structure, um, but you look, gotta look at it. Um, being up here on a reservation out in the depths of the woods. The only people that go out there are hunters or those that are working in the woods. They're not going to sit there and play tiddlywinks and build structures you know, fair enough.
Speaker 3So since we're on the cryptids, we might as well stay on there for just a little bit, right? Oh, I, I know that you know, you know me and the doves. We live in the great state of Minnesota and I mean I say that, sure, great. Anyway, we live in the state.
Speaker 5I always had a good time out there. I've been out there for a few conventions and a couple of fundraisers. It's a good state, come on.
Speaker 3It's an okay state, moving on All state, come on, it's an okay state. Moving on All right, come on, all right. You obviously are neighbor to the east and Minnesotans usually have a little problem with Wisconsin.
Speaker 5I'm a Wisconsin transplant. I wasn't born and raised here. Where? Were you born? I'm a Chicagoan. I'm born down in Oregon. Oh okay, so I'm a fib. Can'm born down in the Florida, so I'm a fib. Can't help it but go Bears okay, I got you.
Speaker 3I'm also. That's what I was going to say. I don't have that, I guess, dislike or whatever for Wisconsin because I'm from Iowa, even though Wisconsin don't like the Iowans just about as much as they don't like the Minnesotans. I'm just saying it doesn't go both ways, like I really don't mind Wisconsin whatsoever. I feel Iowa is like Wisconsin light. You guys are the Miller and we're the Miller light.
Speaker 1You understand, that's kind of how that worked.
Speaker 3Miller Lite. You understand that's how that worked. Yeah, so that's kind of Anyway. So what other cryptids are in the great state of Wisconsin? Oh, you're back. We've been here.
Speaker 5You froze up on me.
Speaker 3Oh, okay, I get you.
Speaker 5So I hear a word you just said, but okay, whatever you say.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, okay, I'll just. It's okay, I could go through that whole diatribe again, that's fine. So what cryptids other than Bigfoot are in the great state of Wisconsin?
Speaker 5Dogmen. So werewolf. Some consider him a werewolf, some consider him, you know, literally a dogman. I kind of have a theory that maybe he is a skinwalker or a medicine man that's turned evil, that's been able to shapeshift and has done so much time on that side of the coin that he's not able to shape back into human form so consistently dog not, yeah, okay, so not transforming at night, yeah this is the creature okay, um, I've said this numerous times on this podcast and I'll say it again if there is one creature, one quote-unquote monster that scares the living hell out of me, it's a werewolf.
Speaker 3And because of the fact of the dog man or skin walker or things like that, where people have said that these things exist, like dracula okay, we've heard of vampires, but they're not like that. Uh, the mummy okay, mummies do exist, but they're not out walking around you know, right, you know, whatever the creature of the black lagoon yeah no, because if there was one down there, the gators would have got it a long time ago.
Speaker 3So I know that's not a thing. So that's what it's like werewolf, wolfman, whatever. If you want to say believable, it's the most believable out of any of the I guess quote-unquote monsters that they portray yeah, I can go with that.
Speaker 5You know, I'd love to get face to face with any one of them, though you know I I think that would be a good time to build, actually document it I don't think you're gonna be writing anything down during that point.
Speaker 3I I just I, that's who who writes anymore. It's all video, buddy oh yeah, that's true, I know and audio. I can see DW trying to write Hold on, hold on hold on, take notes here.
Speaker 5Hold on, don't attack.
Speaker 1Stop your attacking.
Speaker 5That's my leg.
Speaker 4That's my leg Come on, I need that to run. And then I stop and say okay, here's the thing, right, apparently, because I guess I say that it's all right's, it's the perfect, perfect thing.
Speaker 3um, and, by the way, if you want to uh have the here's the thing t-shirt, you can find that at crowdmadecom, uh, just I'll wait for you to send me one of the uh beanies oh okay. Well, yeah, we can, we could probably, uh, we could probably afford that. That that might be in this month's budget. We can see if we can figure it out Budget Exactly.
Speaker 5I'll send you one of my old sweaty cap shirts Just a fair trade. Okay, maybe it might have sleeves, it might not. Some of my additions are sleeveless. I'm a big guy.
Speaker 3No, I hear you. As long as it's been washed, that's all I care about. So, yes, it's all cool. Uh, so all right, you have dog man, you have Bigfoot. Have you guys investigated anything that's involved?
Speaker 5uh, sightings of either or oh yeah, we have people that go on our website and report encounters and everything else all the time, and when we do get that information we go through and a lot of times we'll go out and investigate it. You know we're there to help those in the community that reach out to us. So it doesn't matter if you have a cryptid sighting or if you have an issue with a paranormal in your home or at your work. We'll come out and check it out free of charge.
Speaker 3Very nice and you go all over the state of Wisconsin or you go further.
Speaker 5We go all over period. And we also do. We're in the process of setting up an affiliate program with those that we trust their work and credibility. We trust their work and credibility. So if we're not in that area or can't get to that area, we can put you in contact with someone that's reputable and trustworthy to come out and help you.
Speaker 3Very cool, that's awesome. So we were into the cryptids part of it, and then the other part is anomalies. So, anomalies, are you talking like UFOs?
Speaker 5UFOs like the Paulding Lights and anything that can be considered part of the paranormal world that isn't a ghost or isn't already defined in one of the main sections. So if you are out in the field and you're seeing orbs across your field all the time and you want someone to come out and check it out, that's where, to me, the anomalies come in. You know, document that to look at what's going on there and stuff like that.
Encounters With Paranormal Phenomena
Speaker 3Very cool. Have you ever seen an anomaly or I'm gonna even say ufo, over there, uh, over there, by lake michigan there?
Speaker 5uh, no, ufos, I know several years ago here in reservation. You look out my bathroom window at night and you can almost see a glow that's going through the field there, and that was back when my kids were just knee highs.
Speaker 3Haven't seen it recently, you know, but that was one of the things that I did witness up here um, is it fair to say, uh, that native American reservations tend to have a higher rate of paranormal activity than most places?
Speaker 5Well, that's kind of a double edged sword there. Actually, if you actually think about it, this entire continent is a Native American reservation. We were here first. So every ancient land we were already on and chances are one of the ancestors have been there or been buried there already. So you can't just say reservations, but what you're getting, what kind of what you're getting at, would be we're more open to it and acknowledge it. We're more. A lot of us are more in tune with it.
Speaker 3So it seems like there's more, but really it's no different than anywhere else I will admit this um, I seen what I thought and I said and I testified essentially not to a criminal judge or anything.
Speaker 5Testify, brother testify.
Speaker 3I was driving back from seeing a female friend I had back when I was living in Iowa Chicken, and so I'm living in Iowa Chicken.
Speaker 3And so I'm leaving that out but anyway. So I would drive up. She lived in Nebraska. I would drive up and hit Sioux City, you know, from the Nebraska side, which is easy because they're all kind of connected in a way. But the road I took was Highway 77, which ran through both, well, the Winnebago and the Wall Hill reservations. There, which is Ho-Chunk, which they also have another part in, I think, near Tomah, wisconsin, somewhere around there, right.
Speaker 5They're right up here in Wittenberg also.
Speaker 3Yep, okay, so the Winnebago Ho-Chunk Indian Reservation is right there on 77. And I'm driving and all of a sudden this thing it was big, it was hairy, shut up and it was like it was not a man and it looked like a freaking werewolf and it like kind of walked out all big gate walked, started walking towards the road and then immediately like pivoted and kind of ran parallel for a second and then into the woods and I, I, I mean it took me a minute to register what the hell just happened. But then, as soon as I did, I slammed on the brakes, I stopped and I was like what, and I was kind of looking in my rear on the brakes, I stopped and I was like what, and I was kind of looking in my rear view mirror and everything and I was like what in the world was that? And it came to my senses like, okay, if that was what I thought it was, I'm not being parked right here is probably not the smartest thing to do. And then I just continued on.
Speaker 3Um, but yeah, I, that was that's what really got me. I was like, okay, if there was a dog man, if there was a werewolf, if there wasn't anything on those Indian reservations is where I feel they would. They would be right, because shapeshifters, uh, you know, medicine men, um, um you were talking about like ancestors and elders and things like that. It just I don't know. It just made me think that and I felt that maybe all that activity in those areas, um, there was a special reason for it.
Speaker 5It's kind of where I was going with it well, one thing you got to remember when it comes to tribal lands, they're federally protected, so you don't have any hunters out there other than tribal members. It's not. The woods aren't being trampled through by every Tom, dick and Harry. So you know, we respect our woods. There's a lot of chunks of the woods that you don't go into unless you actually have to. You kind of just leave it alone because it's nature. So they would have plenty of places to thrive and to hide and to grow, you know. So that's why you might see a little bit more of that around the reservations and the surrounding communities also.
Speaker 3Yeah, it makes perfect sense. Uh, yeah, and then most of the time they are the wildlife and everything else is protected in in those too. So, um, if it was an animal, it had plenty of food source, and if it was a monster or, you know, a cryptid or anything like that, then it also has plenty of food source. So I can see why everyone thrive definitely, I know.
Speaker 5I actually over the weekend I heard about town azor, that's a couple miles up the road from here, up on the monomony reservation, a gentleman goes out in the woods all the time and and he's got supposedly has pictures of Sasquatch within 30, 40 feet of each other. He's an older guy, he's sick, he's not doing the greatest in health, but he goes out to the woods almost every day and he has these interactions with them and you know that's 15 minutes up the road from here. So they are around. It's just who they choose to interact with and being at the right place at the right time.
Speaker 3So why do you think that, like I would assume, they have an animal instinct, right, so they're going to? If you know somebody who's meek and mild DW was in the woods, they're going to interact in probably kind of a non-aggressive type of way, right, because they wouldn't feel like they were threatened.
Speaker 5That and I think they can basically read us, feel our hearts, what we have in our heart. If we come with love and with pureness and good intentions, that you're more apt to have the interaction. You come out there dressed like a hunter, loaded to the gills with freaking weapons and everything else they're going to see as a threat and they're also going to feel that in you because you are loaded for firing, you are loaded for taking something out that in you because you are loaded for firing, you are loaded for taking something out, so yeah.
Speaker 3So what do you think? The percentage of claims of bigfoot dogmen, things like that, with the cryptids and the anomalies? What do you think of the percentage um are legitimately seeing what they think they're seeing, or maybe something else?
Belief in Paranormal Phenomena Progression
Speaker 5Honestly, I've never really thought about the percentage. You know everyone that believes that they've seen something. It's like saying you know you've seen Jennifer Anderson, but yet DW, don't believe it. You can be like man. I've seen her walk into the mall today. I couldn't believe it. He's like, yeah, man, I seen her walking in the mall today. I couldn't believe it. He's like, yeah, bs, you're full of crap. You know what the hell is she to be doing out here. It's kind of one of them things, but in your mind you believe it. You know it's true.
Speaker 3In his mind it's like he's a joke, unless he's seen it Exactly. And see, unless he's seen it exactly and see, I feel that's that's the way it is with a lot of uh, a lot of people, especially with the cryptids, is that they're gonna immediately like it's kind of weird. Um, ghosts and things like that. People are more uh in tune to be like, okay, yeah, wow, man, you have a ghost in your house. That's crazy, right, but you're like, hey, dude, last week I was out camping and I know for a fact I seen bigfoot. They're gonna come on right, yeah, so, but if they seen it, it would experience themselves.
Speaker 5It would open a whole new thing in their mind. You know, I, I have friends of mine, you you know, because of what I do. I have business cards and everything else and they're like, um, one of them has me listed as Ghostbuster in their phone. You know, they're like yeah, you, whatever, you believe in, dude, but I don't believe in the afterlife. Well, that's your choice, that's your beliefs. I'm not here to change your beliefs. I'm here to to show the data and the evidence that I've experienced and captured over years and share my stories of what I've experienced.
Speaker 3So to each their own yeah, it is to each their own. And we we started kind of dabbling into the paranormal part of that stuff, like the ghosts and the ghoulies and whatever. So I figured I'd ask you about the caps portion of the paranormal stuff. You know what's going on over in there, is it? You get a little bit of everything? Is it most just residual stuff Like what do you have happen?
Speaker 5It's literally a little bit of everything you know. As much as we get out in the different locations that we've gone to and we get to work with. You know you do get some places that are residual. It's just a constant loop of energy doing the same thing it was doing the whole time it was here. It's just you left that behind, because everywhere you go you leave a piece of your energy behind an imprint. So someone sits there long enough doing the same thing day in and day out. That energy is still going to be there and it's going to be on that loop. Where you get some of the intelligence stuff, they'll start interacting with our equipment. They'll interact with our mediums, even with myself. You know I'll get tidbits of information just shot in my brain out of nowhere that I don't know where these answers are coming from, but they seem to come out and end up being correct oh, uh, do you?
Speaker 3I mean I'm sorry he's kind of he got me on that one. You just, I sit there and I think you know people they don't believe as much as you know they maybe should in certain situations. Right, I mean, they they just kind of dismiss it, as you know, like dw always said uh, it's the heater banging or whatever else, or it's you know this, that or the other thing. Like people dismiss that stuff. Um, I feel there are situations where there are things that are happening, legit, and people just try to dismiss it and I feel that it makes it worse and worse. As a paranormal investigator, do you think this stuff progresses if people ignore it more?
Discussion on Paranormal Phenomena and Cryptids
Speaker 5Depending on why it's what's going on. If it is someone that's trying to get a message to you and you ain't listening to them, yeah, I can definitely see it progressing and getting worse to the point where you have to pay attention to it. It's almost kind of like you know your little brother poking you over and over. Am I annoying you? Yet Are you paying attention to me? Yet, are you paying attention to me? Yet you just want to turn and backhand them. Right, because one of them things where you have to face situation head on, where you get some of the stuff that you know, when you get to the darker side of things, when you start feeding into it and you feed your fear into it, that darkness kind of grows because it feeds off of it.
Speaker 3So it's that double-edged sword again so what is your percentage and I'm gonna bring it up again, I know it's gonna get you but what? What do you think the percentage of like I'm not gonna say demonic, because it's not, you know, yeah, whatever um, bad versus good, what do you think that is like decent energy, you know just having a good time and versus like not good energy I'm gonna hurt you. Like what do you think that is in your personal experience?
Speaker 5about 85 percent of the time it's good, positive energy, but you do get that small portion of the darkness and negativity.
Speaker 5I will never say it's demonic unless I have full-out proof. I have done a very little study into demonology and basically I look at it like this they're going to try to scare you. They're going to use the D word, they're going to use Satan's name and everything else to put that fear into you. But you got to remember when you die, the same personality you have right now is going to be the personality you have on the other side. So if you're a jerk or a real butthole, then you're going to be the same thing on the other side. So if you're one of them, ones that wants to hurt people or wants to talk trash all the time that's what you're going to do when someone comes in and tries to communicate with you. Or if you're that grumpy old guy that you know I built that nuke missile to blow them kids away, so I'm sick of listening to them play ZZ Top you're still going to be that same guy.
Speaker 3Okay so, dw, you're still going to be the same guy. Okay so, dw, do you know that you're still going to be the same guy when you die, as you are right now?
Speaker 4You're the one who should be worried about that. Why, I'll be fine, I mean he's making timid.
Speaker 5He's going to be like little Casper floating around.
Speaker 4Well, I think I've, I've often how you doing after I died. That's when I'm gonna start saying here's the thing just to mess with john oh no I I've often joked over the world.
Speaker 5You're gonna be here.
Speaker 4Here's the thing here's the thing I've often joked with my wife that, um, I would like mess with her and like put stuff up on the top shelf of the cupboard just so she can't reach it, and just like every time I can't get the coffee cup, and you know. So that that's. That's the kind of stuff I would do. I wouldn't like scare people or, you know, push things off a table. I would, you know I'd have some fun with it, you know I wouldn't have fun with it.
Speaker 3I would be the angry ghost because somebody put the coffee cups whatever too high and I couldn't get to it.
Speaker 5That's what I would be, so I'd be I gotta take all this energy to reach up there and try to get the coffee cup. You could have just left it on the counter for me, you know, then I could just scoot it over a little bit and had coffee. See. I would be that wisecracking one that's, you know, pulling punches on the spirit box. You know, oh, who said this I'd be coming back. Your mama, did your daddy tell you that?
Speaker 3Have you seen Scary Movie? You've seen. Scary Movie right. Oh yeah. When he's like father. Your mother's in here, mom get out. You know, oh, come on, I was just having an. Or your mother's in here, mom, get out.
Speaker 5Oh come on I was just having an orgy. What the heck.
Speaker 4I just remember that sketch from Saturday Night Live. It was back in the Annie Poehler days. One of them, farts, and they spend the rest of the time trying to figure out what that was like. Did you hear it? I got it on's. Listen to it again. They listen to it and yeah, that's a good one uh, that was a good one just walking around, farting on everyone that's investigating I do.
Speaker 3I do have a really a funny story about that um oh boy, I was investigating and I was letting off SBDs man, Like they were, just they were not good. And I remember one of the investigators was like what's that smell? You know, like what is that, Whatever? And I started saying it's a phantom. Smell, it's a phantom. And then it just stuck with us and it became a running joke or whatever else. But yeah, it was. Uh. If anybody's listening that was wondering what the hell that smell was, it was me the whole, the whole time it was finally the truth comes out.
Speaker 3Yeah right probably 15 years, but yeah, it's me, it's me all right. So 15 years, but yeah, it's me, it's me all right. So all right, we went through the cryptids, the anomalies and the paranormal and we obviously know what the society is. It's all you guys together uh helping people out. Uh, who are the people on your team? Again, name them off barnaby jones.
Speaker 5Stephanie lynn Jones, stephanie Lynn, ellie Wisenhall. Derek Tabo, I believe is his last name. I'm terrible at names here. Let's see, here we have Barb and Rick and then Ethan Ruby and there's a couple more in there.
Speaker 3Holy moly, that's a big team.
Speaker 5Yep, you know, each one of us has our own talents and skills, so we don't always all work together Right. Some of us, you know, get called in for the cryptic stuff, some of us get called in the paranormal. It all depends on what specifics they have. So for all of us to be in one spot at one time since I've been a member of the team, I don't think it's happened yet. It's just it's hard because everyone schedules and everyone what they do that absolutely makes sense, which kind of like?
Speaker 3you kind of answered my question for me, but I'm going to ask it anyway. So it's going to be kind of a reverse. I was going to say, like I would assume, with the team that big, you have people that are specialized in certain areas of what you have. So who I mean the Bigfoot, you know, the Bigfoot expert, the cryptids expert, who what kind of experience do they have in in that area, like especially up there?
Speaker 5barnaby, our team leader, is actually a cryptozoologist. Nice okay interesting.
Speaker 5So, yeah, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the table, years of study and you know. And he also does the paranormal, also he does. He goes both both ways there, you, you know, and I personally, like I said in my stories, I've gone, you know, both ways, with the woods or out into the paranormal field. I won't investigate anything, so it just kind of trickles down on who's available and what we're looking for, what we're doing. Who's going to get the phone call and say, hey, are you busy?
Speaker 3All right, doing who? Who's going to get the phone call and say, hey, you busy, all right. So I'm going to ask the question that my mind has wanted to know for quite a while during this podcast, and it's this what cryptid do you guys get the most? I guess sightings of, uh, bigfoot sasquatch and the follow-up to that, which I think is the best question of both. What is the weirdest cryptid case that's been brought to caps, meaning like something that maybe shouldn't even be there?
Speaker 5you know, like I really don't think I've had one one yet. That shouldn't be there. You know um a lot of the stuff that we've gotten calls on or we've gone out investigated um have been known in the areas that we've gone to okay, so like dog man sasquatch okay, beast of Bray Road, yeah, okay.
Speaker 3That one is fascinating, dw, that's something you should look up. The Beast of Bray Road, you will. Yeah, I think you'll like that.
Speaker 5Another dog man.
Speaker 3Yeah, pretty much. So okay, Very cool, I was going to say of your sightings, are more of them say UFO, cryptid, whatever?
Speaker 5are more of them towards the woods or towards the lake. A lot of the Bigfoot sightings and all that are at woods or road crossings. Okay, people just having them. We've had had hunters get a hold of us say, hey, you know, I seen this out in my backyard or I seen this out in my hunting land, stuff like that, um, ufos, uh, pretty much hit or miss. You know, there's really no rhyme or reason on where people see them and report them from.
Speaker 3You see where I was going with that, though, if it was more like other aircraft, airplanes, helicopters.
Speaker 3I'm not saying I don't believe in UFOs, yeah, just saying there's a lot more explanation than just like oh For, for instance, we get the uh minnesota state patrol helicopter that flies above us all the time. It's legitimately, every night several times, and the spotlight sometimes will come out. And when that spotlight comes out, it is legitimately a spotlight. It I mean from the area they're at, which is like 150, 200 feet in the air. This thing, it shines bright on the uh, on the ground, so sometimes they'll, they'll turn it on, you know, and all of a sudden you're seeing this light coming from whatever you know. Obviously I, I know that it's the helicopter, right, but go ahead. I was going to say like, I mean, how many of those have you looked at? You know cases or whatever?
Speaker 5and been like that that has that UFO you know, call, we bring out equipment you know, to monitor air traffic control. We have star charts, you know everything to get to show us what is in the skies at that present moment, in real time. So then, as you see something in the sky, you look down, you verify whether it's a plane, whether it's something on one of these charts, and if it's not, then you start looking okay, what is it? At that point in time you go ahead and you use the tools that are available to you to basically go through it and figure out what it is.
Speaker 3See, not everybody's going to have that stuff it's right on their phones yeah, I know my uh, lovely queen consort, she does have the star chart and she does the air traffic control. Um, I feel that'd be a good way, uh, to you know, take care of the, the stuff that you know, to take care of the stuff that isn't a UFO. Or take care of the stuff that is a UFO meaning you're going to see it other than what you have there.
Speaker 5Yep, and always be filming, document everything, because you might be able to say, okay, well, I see this light, I don't know what the heck it is. If you're filming it and you've got a good camera, you can go back later on your computer and see if it seems different on the footage versus what you see with the naked eye, so you might be able to verify what it might have been at that point in time also.
Speaker 3Yeah, I was going to say always take a picture so you can enhance it, look at it, yeah, yeah. So I mean, I was sitting there thinking you know the cryptids we got into that. That's something I've been wanting to do for a while on this show. We're going to have to do long-form cryptids, I think at some point.
Speaker 5Get all the.
Speaker 3Barnaby Jones, there's a lot of them and maybe I will. Maybe you know. I think we're friends on Facebook.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 3So I might reach out to them. Yeah, I mean, you guys seem like you have. Basically you're running the gambit on like if you were to see a cryptid. You know you're gonna call caps you know, you know, and it seems like, uh, the people that are into the, uh seeing the paranormal, they're doing the same thing. So you guys get pretty busy.
Speaker 5Huh, yeah, we do and, uh, we've worked hard to build that reputation that's trustworthy in the uh, paranormal and cryptic communities. We've done our research, so, and if we don't know, we'll do our best to find you an answer one way or another. You know, because we are connected with people all across the country and even some out of the country that are still doing the same research we are nice and you see, like I mean, when you're doing the research, you do the research, you're just not, you're not bullshitting your way through it no, you actually go out into the field and you go there and you sit, you film, you document every little thing you know.
Speaker 5It's not like, uh, we just show them, go, we look around, go. Yeah, we don't see nothing.
Speaker 3We're out of here, we're there, we're there for the night the only way that'd be beneficial is if you got paid, you know unfortunately we don't get paid.
Speaker 5Yeah, it's all free services.
Speaker 3You know there's at this time there's no money in the paranormal uh which there was well, but I feel, I don't know, like I feel if you were asking for money, people are automatically going to assume con man. You know what I mean. So the free service is the best way of doing it, because in a way, you're getting a name out there, right, yeah, these people sign off on you using their, their houses or their names or whatever you know. So they get a little bit of notoriety as well, you know. But, um, I don't know, just you know you get, your get your name out there, and then maybe you get to paracons. You start selling shirts, you know, or you're wanting to be on a tv show or you know any of that stuff.
Speaker 5That's when money starts getting made in the paranormal yeah, we have our own, uh our own site for shirts, for caps, gear. You can pretty much get our logo on anything nowadays, uh, I think I believe that's uh t republic that we go through. And then barnaby does have a book, uh fighting hiding, that he helped uh co-write with uh craig salk, and then you know it's just, you know it's everything's out there. We do do the convention scenes. You know we all get around, um, some of us also do the metaphysical events, stuff like that, those that are, you know, gifted into and that use their abilities. So our name is out there quite a bit in the communities all over.
Speaker 3That's cool. That actually leads into the very next thing I was going to say. If people wanted to find CAPS, where would they find you?
Speaker 5Oh, Facebook, Wisconsin CAPS, TikTok, Instagram, WisconsinCAPScom. Wisconsin CAPS on YouTube. Youtube, we are pretty much Every social media out there. We have a Patreon account. We're you know. Look up Wisconsincaps and you can pretty much find us anywhere.
This or That
Speaker 3That's cool Because people should find you, especially if you live in the Wisconsin area and you have anything funky happening. Yeah, you should. Uh, you should give caps a call, especially if you see listen, if you see bigfoot or dog man, yeah, give them a call most definitely them, and then your doctor, because you need up your heads a little bit but, um don't take so many hits of lsc next time yeah not so many.
Speaker 5You can watch the chocolate mushroom bars, you know you can take one hit, but you take two.
Speaker 3There's not coming back, it's just, it's just not happening all right well, I, you know res. I gotta be honest with you, man, you you have, you have the information, you have the stories. I'm I'm thrilled with it. The moment you mentioned cryptids I was like I am in. We haven't done this yet. We gotta do at least touch on them a little bit so that way when we do one long form, you know people will know a little bit of something on it.
Speaker 5There you go. I'm glad I could help with that.
Speaker 3Yeah, you bet. So, oh, Rez, I don't know if you've heard any of our shows, and it's okay if you haven't. Most of our guests never did. But we do a little thing at the end of our show. It's called this or that, okay, and basically what that is is that we get to know you just a little bit, very superficially, just just beneath the skin.
Speaker 3Yeah, okay, just a little bit yeah, yeah, yep, we'll ask you basically two questions and you just tell us which one you like the most. Is that cool, this or that? Huh?
Speaker 5All right, this or that.
Speaker 3All right. So if you're ready for this or that, yeah, let's try it All right. Well, with that being said said, I have one more question, dw. Yeah, you want me to take the this or that, or do you have one today?
Speaker 4I think you did it last week, so I'll I'll I'll do this week all right, I've got a sheet ready here. We're gonna start rotating, so next one's mine next one's yours and I'm expecting uh, excellence, excellence, baby. Oh, we should do that sometime. Yeah, we should, and actually no more seriously what I should do no what I should do is uh, uh.
Speaker 4my daughter came up with some good ones. I keep forgetting to ask her. She has some good ones whenever we do this, but this week, here we go. So would you rather read the book or watch the movie?
Speaker 5Oh, that's a tough one. I'd have to say watch the movie, and if the movie is good enough, I'd have to read the book then.
Speaker 4Okay, watch the movie, and if the movie is good enough I have to read the book, then okay, so because of that, would you rather watch an action adventure or romantic comedy?
Speaker 5action adventure all right beach or pool the beach all right, would you rep and you're?
Speaker 4you're're from Wisconsin, so this applies. Would you rather build a snowman or build a sandcastle? Sandcastle, all right. If you could time travel. Would you rather travel back to 1825 or forward to 2225? 1825. Okay, Would you rather Ghost Hunt with the Ghostbusters or Scooby-Doo and the gang?
Speaker 5Oh no, oh, this is a tough one. I'd say Scooby-Doo. All right, kind of along those lines. Oh, this is a tough one, I'd say Scooby-Doo.
Speaker 4All right, kind of along those lines Comedy or Shaggy or Shaggy. Yeah, comedy or paranormal, paranormal. Okay, christmas or Halloween.
Speaker 5Halloween Stay spooky.
Speaker 4All right, we've got a barbecue. Would you rather have a burger or a brat?
Speaker 5A brat Okay.
Speaker 4Last one, john.
Speaker 5Olsen or Jeffrey Dahmer? Oh, I don't know, I'll go with.
Speaker 3Olsen. I don't know if that's a win or a loss on that one.
Speaker 4I don't know. You had to think about it.
Speaker 3Or Jeffrey Dahmer Dahmer knows. I don't know. I heard his taste in men was terrible, oh gosh yeah.
Speaker 1That was.
Speaker 4Well, I should say that is on par with the rest of your material.
Speaker 3Might as well throw a groaner in there.
Speaker 1Hey man.
Speaker 5We stayed away from the native jokes all night.
Speaker 4We did yes and I've got one, but I'm not going to say it yet.
Speaker 5They're going to offend me, so we're good.
Speaker 4I feel like every comedian has a groaner, you know. I feel, like, as long as you're okay with it, you should get the reaction you want. So it's okay to have a groaner, knowing that's going to be the reaction if you're hoping to write you know something with enormous laughter, and it's a groaner.
Speaker 3That's different I just write with mine, with the expectation they're all groaners and whatever I come out of it, I I get and it's great. That's the way I look at it. It's a reaction, it's something yeah. It's what we're there for. It's what we're there for. It's the reaction, I don't know. I haven't had anybody outrightly boo me. I've never had anybody.
Speaker 5Alright, so when's the next time you're going to be standing?
Speaker 4up. He's coming to your show, and just I can be the new hecklefish here.
Speaker 3I can't remember. Am I in Wisconsin? Where am I? Am I in Appleton?
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 3I think I am.
Speaker 5Last time I saw you were in Minnesota.
Speaker 4He's not far away from Appleton. He could come to that 15 minutes away.
Speaker 5There we go Great.
Speaker 4And what would be great is if it's like enormous laughter and just one lone boo from the back row and he can't see. He's like who is that? So don't tell him you're coming, I just want him to like you're recognizing my voice or something.
Speaker 5I know that voice.
Speaker 3That's that big ugly indian, damn it um, you know, I hear enormous laughter and then all of a sudden just hear boo I think that'd be a great yeah that would that would actually be funny. I don't know if I'd hold it together if I heard that. To be fair.
Speaker 5I'll be screaming in the background. Do I get ravaged by a savage? Oh, that would be good. Get your boo buddy out.
Speaker 3All right, yeah, good yeah, get your blue buddy out, all right. Yeah, we gotta go. Before talking, that's a good note to end on double teaming again, all right, uh, so bridge, he's my hetero life mate. Hetero DW's my hetero life mate. I wouldn't even say life mate.
Speaker 3So he's hetero that's it alright, anyways, hey man, I think we put together a pretty good little show here, entertaining is now towards the end. But no man, you're very informative. Very, yeah, I like it. I think people need to check out Caps and you have a YouTube right.
Speaker 5Yeah yeah, wisconsin Caps on YouTube.
Speaker 3All right, watch their stuff. Watch it Wisconsin Caps YouTube. I might even put a link in the episode description. Yeah, appreciate it. Well, like I said, you know good stuff. Glad to have you, dw.
Speaker 4Here's the thing.
Speaker 3Always, always. And, by the way, if you want to get a, here's the Thing t-shirt, crowdmadecom, just search for Squares. Always, always good seeing you, buddy, all right, anyways, whatever, All right, always always good seeing you buddy alright, anyways whatever alright. Well, you know, I think everybody knows what this means. I know what this means. It means that you guys have been amazing, we have been scolarius and we are out Later.
