Spring Homeschool Ideas: Easy Ways to Enjoy Seasonal Fun with Kids

Amy Milcic

Spring is almost here! And I’m so excited to share simple and fun ways to bring some seasonal joy into your homeschool. From outdoor learning to creative hands-on projects, I've got a variety of ideas to help you make the most of this beautiful season.

My Simple Approach to Enjoying Spring Homeschool Fun
In our homeschool, spring is a time to celebrate nature and connect with the world around us. We kick off the season with a Spring Homeschool Bucket List, where we brainstorm fun activities to do, based on our family's interests and experiences. Bucket lists are a great way to keep everyone engaged and excited about the upcoming season - and they help guide our plans for the next few months. Want to join in the fun? You can grab my free 365 Fun Days & Activities Pack filled with lots of seasonal ideas!

3 Ways to Make Spring Fun in Your Homeschool
I’m all about keeping things simple and stress-free. Here are three key ways I plan our spring homeschool activities:

  1. Outdoor Activities: Take advantage of the warmer weather! Fresh air and outdoor play can boost creativity and focus. Try outdoor math games with sidewalk chalk or go on a spring walk with my free printable scavenger hunt.
  2. Hands-On Projects: Spring is the perfect time for hands-on activities, like making lavender cloud dough, playing with slime, or creating a simple garden. Need more ideas? I’ve got a list of 20 outdoor science activities and a free printable pack for designing your own projects.
  3. Printable Fun: For when you need quick and easy activities, printables are your friend! I’ve got spring-themed coloring sheets, word searches, math coordinate graphing, and more—all designed to fit seamlessly into your day.

Spring Holidays & Fun Days
Spring brings wonderful opportunities to celebrate holidays and fun days like Easter and Earth Day. Enjoy activities like decorating Easter eggs (we've got a tie-dye coffee filter activity you'll love), making Easter surprise cards, and participating in Earth Day challenges.

Tips for Easy Spring Homeschool Days

  • Be Flexible: Embrace outdoor learning and let kids explore what interests them.
  • Keep it Light: Low-prep activities like DIY nature journals or outdoor play are a great way to keep things simple.
  • Let Kids Lead: Spring is a time to let your kids explore topics that excite them.

I hope these ideas help you add some extra joy to your homeschool this spring. Remember, it’s okay to mix things up and try new activities—especially if you haven’t tried taking your homeschool outdoors yet!
