SPEAKER_03Speaking about the new trailer for Star Wars Maw, Shadow Lord, I always think with Darth Maul that he bowed out of Star Wars far too soon. He was in episode one, of course, The Phantom Menace. I always enjoyed his character. Of course he had the double-sided lightsaber. And he always looked really evil and different. His face was painted, he had horns, and he always looked very evil. Unlike some of the other characters who have turned to the dark side in later Star Wars films, such as Kylo Wren. He looked evil to begin with, of course, with his mask, but as soon as he took the mask off, he kind of lost any sense of being evil that he had. And I try not to criticise George Lucas, because obviously he's the creator. Thank the maker, as C3PO would say. And I'm not criticising him, this is just my own opinion, but I think Darth Moore should have been in each of the prequel films. Because it would have given a lot more depth to Obi-Wan. Because obviously he's killed his master Qui-Gon. You could see them fight again in Attack of the Clones, and then you could get the finale, perhaps, in Revenge of the Sith. Of course, something else would have had to have happened, but at the same time I think it would have been a better way for Obi-Wan to get his revenge. But I do understand the argument that in the film The Phantom Menace it's called the Jewel of Fates. This is sealing Anakin's fate. And I love that theme. It's one of my favourite themes actually from John Williams. It's one of the newer ones, but I think it's a fantastic theme. It's probably one of the best newer ones that he did. Darthmore did return at the end of the solo movie. I wasn't in favour of that, because I do think you shouldn't just bring characters back to life because they're cool. But at the same time, this is a cartoon, Shadow Lord, so I can accept it completely. And he was in Star Wars Rebels. So I think it's fine, I haven't got a problem with that at all. And as I say, it's a cartoon. I think for cartoons there's different rules, but it's a very cool cartoon. I'm not I'm not disregarding it saying it's a cartoon. What I mean is I think there's different rules for cartoons and live-action movies. It is interesting from the trailer, it appears that Darthmore is taking on the Empire. I quite like this, it's very different, but I don't believe he'll be a good character in this. How can he? He's Darthmore. He'll still be evil, but he will want to overthrow them and to uh do it himself, I would imagine. And it's interesting, uh the other character in the trailer says you can't defeat the whole empire. I thought that was a really good line. And I always remember seeing Darth Moore for the first time back in '99 at the cinema. And it was so cool, even though you saw it in the trailer, you saw the double-sided lightsaber, it was so cool for the first time when he ignites it. And you haven't seen that since in a Star Wars film. He was just so cool, and I I just don't get why they killed off his character so early. I get it for the story, perhaps. But for me, Dooku was never as good as Darth Maul. He was an interesting character, Dooku. But for me it seemed like he came out of nowhere, they had to think of another character after Darth Moore, and then they came up with Dooku. Didn't dislike him, you know, he was quite a good character, but I always thought Darth Maw had a lot more legs, and that the fact that he was very acrobatic as a Sith Lord was different. We hadn't seen that before. It does make me wonder how Palpatine ever taught Darth Moore, because he's so different from Palpatine in terms of the martial arts and everything else. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but Palpatine, everything really came from his brain. That's what we all thought until Revenge of the Sith, and then you saw his um Jedi moves there, or rather his Sith moves. But still, it's quite interesting to think who taught Darth more. In terms of the new Sith Lords that they've created, I suppose they haven't created that many, considering it's been a long time, hasn't it? I think he's the best new one that they made. Because you had obviously Count Dooku and you had him, but that was it really, because you had Palpatine already. So for me, he was always the best new Sith Lord, because he was very different, as I said earlier. And he could do martial arts and he looked evil, you know, everything about him, and he looked like somebody who would do anything but to win a fight. You'll notice that I didn't mention Kylo Wren or Snoke. Well with Snoke, potentially he could have been a fantastic character. And I think he was an interesting character, but he was killed off too early again, and then it turned out he was just a puppet. So his evilness kind of diminishes, and Kylo Wren is the same. When he took that helmet off, and he kind of became a spoilt brat instead of an evil Sith Lord, it was very mad the transformation, really. I I think it was a bit too crazy. That's just my opinion of Kylo Wren. Um I think he was better with the mask on. I think the moment he took the mask off, yeah, it all went downhill for him and his character, and yeah, he became like a moody teenager in Star Wars. Yeah, we've seen that before with his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker. But with Anakin, I think, even though people criticized it at the time, I think the progression of that character was a lot better than Kylo Ren. That's just my personal opinion. And you always saw something in Anakin. He looked he had that look, he he had that attitude of perhaps turning to the dark side. He wasn't a bad person, but things transpired, things happened against him that made him turn to the dark side. With Kaido Ren, it kind of seemed like, well, I'm a I'm a moody teenager and I'm just gonna do what I want and I'm petulant and all the rest of it. And I didn't even when he turned back, I was a bit like, well, it was a bit late now, isn't it, to turn back? That was my opinion anyway. But I'm really looking forward to this. I think it'll be fantastic. I can't see it being a flop, if I'm honest. Because in terms of if you think of Rebels, that was a great TV show. I haven't watched all of it yet, I've still got to do that. I've watched parts of it. I think that works so well because you have the original music. It'd be great if they could do that in this more, but I don't think they will, Shadow Lord, but maybe they will, hopefully. They're gonna have the jewel of fates in there, surely. They have to. If they have that in a lot of the scenes, it will really add something to it. As I was saying, with Rebels, if it didn't have the original Star Wars music, I think it would have been half as good. So Shadow Lord, I'm really looking forward to it, and I think it's gonna be fantastic. And of course we've got the Mandalorian in May. I'm thinking that'll be great as well. And then we've got Starfighter as well. I think that's next year potentially or it's soon, isn't it? It's not that long away. So that's with Ryan Goslin. I heard an interview with him recently. He's always been a big Star Wars fan. He used to have um Star Wars headsheets. So did I, by the way. Nothing to be ashamed of. Used to Star Wars everything. What else am I gonna be speaking about on the podcast next? Well, definitely The Mandalorian, uh, because I haven't finished speaking about all the series of The Mandalorian. Hopefully I get to do this before the movie, and then I will be doing a preview of the movie. There will be spoilers, I'll tell you that there will be spoilers, so basically, if you listen to it, it's probably not a good idea to listen to it if you don't want to know what's gonna happen. Yeah. It's that simple. And I'm also thinking about doing a Star Wars parody, because I don't know if you know, but I do parodies as well. I do a Peaky Blinders podcast parody, something very different, where I do the voices of the actors, of the the characters rather. And I was thinking of doing a similar thing for Star Wars. I think I could do that. And that might be quite good fun reacting out the Star Wars movies, but putting a parody to it. So watch out for that as well. Shadow Lord is going to be released on Disney Plus on the 6th of April. Really looking forward to it, as I say. And if you haven't rated the Star Wars podcast yet with me, Chris Watts, please do so, because I'm now in the top hundred of uh Star Wars podcasts, which is fantastic. I haven't been doing it for that long. I was quite surprised. I know there's a lot of Star Wars podcasts out there now, I do anyway. After seeing the list, I was like, wow, so many. But yeah, if you want to rate me, if you like the podcast, that would be fantastic.
