I speak about the third series of The Mandalorian! And rate my favourite episodes!
Speaking about series three of the Mandalorian, this is the way. So the first episode is called The Apo State, I believe. This is chapter 17, Series 3 of the Mandalorian. The Armorer and a group of Mandalorians hold a ceremony to induct a young child, Ragnar, into the tribe. The ceremony is interrupted when a dinosaur turtle attacks the Mandalorians. The clan initially fail to defend themselves, but they are saved by Dinjarin and Grogu, who have been reunited. The Armorer confirms that if the mines of Mandalore still exist, Dinjarin may become a Mandalorian once more. This is because Dinjarin took off his helmet and he admitted this. I don't know why he did, to be honest, but there you go. So now he has to go on this quest to drink from the wells of Mandalore to become a Mandalorian once more. Dinjarin travels to Navarro to meet High Magistrate Grief Kaga. Dinjarin helps Kaga stave off a group of pirates led by the pirate Vane. I did like these characters, I thought they were interesting, and I was a bit surprised that you didn't see more of these pirates in that series that they did with the kids. What was that called again? Um Skeleton Crew or Skeleton Crew, it depends how you pronounce Skelington or Skeleton. Yeah, that wasn't a bad TV show actually. I wouldn't put it in the Mandalorians League, but it was aimed at kids, wasn't it? Kaga does actually offer Dinjarin the position of Marshal on Navarro, but uh Dinjarin refuses, stating that he came to rebuild IG-11. Dinjarin successfully revives IG-11, but the droid defaults to his original violent programming, which I always thought would happen eventually. Dinjaring brings the parts to a group of little alien mechanics who tell him that they need new memory core to repair the droid. As Dinjarin leaves Navarro, the pirate crew, led by Vane's Superior, attacks his ship, but Dinjarin escapes. The Mandalorian meets Bokatan Krees in the old Mandalorian castle, who reveals that after losing the Darksaber, she has abandoned her plans to reclaim Mandalore, but we all know who has the Darksabre, it is the Mandalorian Dinjarin, isn't it? But I would say Bokatan is a great character in the Mandalorian, and in Series 3 her character is really elevated. The first episode of The Mandalorian, I think I'll give it 7 out of 10. I'll rate each episode and then I'll give you my favourites in order. On to chapter 18, the second series of series 3, The Minds of Mandalore. Dinjarin then visits Meli Motto on Tatooine in search of a new memory chip for IG11. She does not have one but instead sells him R5 D4. It was great to see this droid again, wasn't it? You know, from A New Hope, the red droid. And he's a coward unlike R2 D2, but it was good to see him again. So the Mandalorian and Grogru, they fly to Mandalore, where Dinjarin orders R5 to scout ahead and ensure that the atmosphere is non-toxic. So he did have a purpose, R5d4. When R5 does not return, Dinjarin ventures after it and is attacked by several of these native troll-like alien species living in the caves. So he heads deeper into the mines and Dinjarin is captured by a cyborg creature and tells Grogu to go back for Bokatan for help. Yeah, I mean this cyborg creature at one point I thought it was General Grievous from Revenge of the Civ. I was kinda hoping that it was, but he only turned up for about ten seconds, didn't he? And then he was uh dispensed of uh by Bokatan. So Bokatan rescues Dinjarin and kills the cyborg before leading Dinjarin to the living waters. Dinjarin immerses himself to restore his status as a Mandalorian, but a sudden drop-off causes him to sink deep into the water. Bokatan dives in to save him. On the way back up, she comes face to face with a mis mythosaur, um this sort of like ancient lockless monster type alien creature thing. So the second episode of uh The Mandalorian Series 3, The Minds of Mandalore, I give this 7 out of 10 again. I did enjoy the part where the Mandalorian went in the wells and he believes that it will make him a Mandalorian again after taking his helmet off. And it's interesting that Bokatan doesn't believe this really. She's sort of um sceptical about this uh mythical ability of the creed to to reclaim yourself as a Mandalorian. I think it's because she was one in one of the houses of the best families, she knew where the worlds were because they used to go there, and maybe they just used to tell these stories and make the legend even greater than it was to the general population of Mandalore. Perhaps. We don't know, it doesn't really ever get explained. On to episode 3, chapter 19, The Convert. Dinjarin and Bokatan do return to the planet they were at earlier, where uh Bogatan was on a throne, and they are attacked by Imperial Tys Fighter squads who destroy Bogatan's home and they're forced to retreat. And now it goes to this other part of the story, which I don't find as interesting as the Mandalorians, but you have to follow it. Um, on Coruscant, Dr. Pershing receives a pardon by the New Republic, but is startled to find that Elijah Kane, a former communications officer who was part of Moff Gideon's Imperial Regiment, is actually in this programme. And she's a very evil character, I would say. Kane agrees to assist Pershing in his efforts to continue his cloning research, which has been outlawed by the Republic. I can see why they'd outlaw that, to be honest. It didn't work out too well, did it, in the pre-quel trilogy. They sneak aboard a decommissioned Imperial class Star Destroyer to steal the necessary materials, but Kane betrays Pershing to the Republic's lawmakers and later secretly sabotages the mind-wiping procedure used on him. So as I say, I'm not so excited with this story when I see it, it does feel kind of removed from the Mandalorian, but as the story progresses, it does connect. Meanwhile, Dinjarin and Bokatan arrived at the secret Mandalorian Encave, where Dinjarin presents the armorer with a sample of the living waters as proof of his redemption. So, episode three of the Mandalorian, chapter 19, the Convert. I'm gonna give this six out of ten, just because I don't particularly like the stuff on Coruscant. On to chapter twenty of The Mandalorian the Foundling. I did like the part where the Mandalorian introduced Grogu to the Mandalorian combat training. Grogu wins a training match, but his opponent is captured by a large raptor, so Bokatan gathers a hunting party which includes Injaring and Ragnar's father, and leads them to the raptor's nest on foot. The armorer forges a new piece of Mandalorian armor for Grogu. As she works, Grogu has visions of his rescue from the burning Jedi Temple by the Jedi Master and sympathetic members of the Naboo Armed Forces. Yeah, that was a really good flashback scene actually. It took you back to the prequels and you saw the Jedi protecting him to get him out of there, and it's very interesting. Uh that whole part of the story, it hasn't come up again in the Mandalorian, but that was a good flashback. And Vizla's over-eagerness to save Ragnar, his son, disrupts Bokatan's plan and leads it to a difficult aerial confrontation in which Bokatan and Dinjarin rescue the boy unharmed. They kill the Raptor, collect its chicks, and earn the clan's respect. Yeah, I really enjoyed this episode, it had a lot in it, so for me I'm going to give this one 8 out of 10. It is interesting that Bokatan tells the Anamura, she reveals that she saw the Mythosaurus on Mandalore, and the Anamurra meets her account with indifferent disbelief. Yeah, it's interesting, isn't it? Um that she just doesn't believe her. Now on to chapter 21, the Pirate, Episode 5, Series 3. In retaliation for Vane's expulsion, uh the leader of the pirates um confronts Griefkarga and uh well, his planet completely, and he asks for help from the new republic, suspecting that the attack is um, you know, something to do with the rise of the Empire. And um yeah, it's a very good episode, this one, and he tracks down the Mandalorian to convert and asks Dinjarin for help. Dinjarin convinces the covert to come to Kaga's aid despite their prior confrontations with him. And Bokatan assumes command of the attack force. As the Mandalorians overcome the invasion, Vanes flees, Shard is killed, and the remaining pirates are detained. The Mandalorians are welcomed back by Karga and the people, and uh they move back into their old encave. Clave. Enclave. Yeah, I mean, it's very interesting that he uses the Mandalorians. I mean, why wouldn't you as the defenders of his planet? And I could kind of see that arrangement working in the long run. Later the armorer meets Bokatang, acknowledging the Mythosur's reappearance as an omen that Bokatan is the one who can reunite all Mandalorians. Mandalore! And bids her to remove her helmet to symbolise this new position. Well, yeah, I mean, that's interesting, isn't it? Later, they all take off their helmets and it's a bit like, what's going on here? And as a side story, you do find that um I think his name is Teva, who is the X-Wing pilot. Um he encounters the wreckage of Moff Gideon's prison transport, which had gone missing during transit, and finds a fragment of Beskar alloy inside. So that's kind of a twist at the end of the episode. I'd give this one 7 out of 10. Episode 6 of the Mandalorian Guns for Hire, Bokatan, Dinjarin, and Grogu set out for an idyllic planet where Bokatan's former army, now led by Axwoves, have set themselves up as mercenaries. Before they can meet them, they are diverted by the planet's rulers who ask for their help in neutralizing several malfunctioning imperial separatist droids. Now, this episode is very different. You've got Jack Black in it, and it's a very colourful planet. It's very, very different and I'd say removed from a lot of the Mandalorian. Not saying it's bad, but different. You've also got the actor from uh Back to the Future. Great Scott! But anyway, after stopping a rogue droid, Bokatan and Jinjaring follow its trail to the resistor, a droid bar, and convince its bartender to help them. They discover that the droids were sabotaged through nano droids in the bar's maintenance fluid, which were imported by the commissioner, who uh is uh the man from Backs of the Future. And he does reveal that he was a separatist, so that's interesting. You don't always have this in Star Wars, um, and it's interesting that he said he was a separatist. You don't really get onto that topic a lot in Star Wars. It's obviously in Revenge of the Sith, and you've got the separatists uh against the Republic, but of course that's all a phony war by Palpatine, but he was saying that he was a separatist. But anyway, Bokatan knocks him out, so uh bye-bye, uh Back to the Future guy, and uh the Duchess sentences him to exile on the moon of a planet I can't pronounce. Bokatan then challenges Wolves, uh Wovs, I believe is his is his name, for leadership. Leadership of the clan, leadership of uh the Mandalorians. To help her attendants, Dinjarin admits his capture by the cyborg in the mines of Mandalore. He was rescued, of course, by Bokatan, which rightfully bestows the Dark Sabre back to her. So that's nice, isn't it? That she rescued him, so that means she gets the Dark Sabre back. And I did enjoy that fight, um, and that's interesting and exciting when you see that fight between Bokatan and um that guy I didn't like to begin with, but then you kind of get to like him a bit later on, um, and she takes him down and uh sh she's on course again. She's gonna take over Mandalore, she's got the Dark Sabre, hopefully it's gonna happen for her. So this episode I'm gonna give this six out of ten. I mean, I've voted these all very high, haven't I, to be honest? Um but this one it's not bad, it's just different. On to episode seven, series three, chapter twenty-three, The Spies. Moff Gideon is informed by Elena Kane of the Mandalorian's intent to retake their planet. Gideon relays this information to the Shadow Council, a group of Imperial Warlords. I did like this bit where you saw all the holograms, and Gideon again is at his evil best. Reassembling on Navarro, Bokatan unites the Mandalorian clans and prepares a recon party to explore the surfaces of Mandalore and locate the Great Forge. Before leaving, Griefkarga presents Dinjaring with IG 12. Not IG 11? Yeah, it was IG-11, but a rebuilt version of IG-11, IG-12, which is able to be controlled by Grogu. That's a brilliant idea, I loved that. I thought that was great, Grogu in IG-11, IG-12. On Mandalore, the group meets another surviving clan who is loyal to Bokatan. Bokatan admits that she surrendered to Gideon shortly after the Knight of a Thousand Tears, hoping that her people would be spared from further harm. That was foolish, but there you go. You do things like that, I suppose, when uh things like that happen in life. The party finds the Great Forge, but is ambushed by uh the Beskar enhanced stormtroopers, so yeah, I mean they're up against everything in this episode. Dinjarin is captured by a Beskar clad Gideon who reveals his intent to complete the Great Purge of Mandalore. Mandalore! He attempts to kill the search party, but Bokatan uses the Darksaber to make an escape for the group. And this is the really sad part. Paz Vizlar stays behind to buy time, but is killed by Gideon's guards. Yeah, that's a that's really sad that part. Because with Vizlar, he's another one of these characters to begin with. You don't like him, but then you do get to like him, and he was so brave in this moment, he took them all on with his huge blaster, and unfortunately, he's killed at the end. For this episode, yeah, I'll give this 8 out of 10. This is another great one. There's not many episodes in this series that I dislike really, I think they're all great. So the final chapter, the final episode of series 3 of the Mandalorian, the Return. Chapter 24, Episode 8. Bokatan and her squad retreat from Moff Gideon's base. Upon returning to the Mandalorian's flagship, Axewolf sends the remaining Mandalorians to reinforce the planetary troops while he defends the ship from Imperial Thai squadrons. So now I'm starting to like this character. Of course, I love this part of the episode because you see Grogu inside IG-11, IG-12, and he can control him, and but you feel really scared for him. Because obviously he's more into combat now, isn't he? Because he's in this droid, and it it does help him, but at the same time it puts him in a lot of danger. And he does rescue the Mandalorian, so that's kind of a role reversal, isn't it? Because before that it was always the Mandalorian rescuing Grogu. So then of course they seek out Gideon, Dinjarin, and Grogu discover cloning tanks filled with four sensitive clones of Gideon. So he wanted them to be able to use the force. And you he also wanted them to have Mandalorian armor. This army would have been unbelievable, wouldn't it, if it ever came to fruition? But luckily Dinjarin does destroy them. After a lengthy skirmish between the Mandalorians and the Beskar enhanced stormtroopers within the base, Bokatan, Dinjarin and Grogu make a final stand against Gideon and his Petrurian guards, in which the Darksaber is destroyed. Woofs rams the Mandalorian capital ship into the Imperial base, and Gideon is consumed by the resulting blast. Grogu protects himself, Bokatan and Dinjarin from the blast with a force barrier. That's probably my favourite moment of series 3, definitely, where he uses the force to protect Bokatan and Dinjarin. I think that's brilliant. After the battle, the Mandalorians restart the Great Forge and Dinjarin formally adopts Grogu. That's a lovely moment. Afterwards, Dinjarin takes up honest contract work with Carlson Terra and moves into a cabin on the outskirts of Navarro's capital, while IG11 is rebuilt by the mechanics to serve as Navarro's new marshal. Now this is Bill Withers' last Bill Withers? This is um not Bill Withers' lovely day, Carl Withers, uh last episode sadly, because he passed away. I think he was brilliant in this series. I think he added a lot. I did say before I used to always get those two actors mixed up, uh Lando, the actor who plays Lando Carizian and the actor who plays um you know in Rocky, Apollo Creed. I always used to get them mixed up, and I'm probably the only one, but for me I always thought they were the same person, and um I always thought that Lando obviously really went to the gym after um The Empire Strikes Back, but obviously not, he was pumping iron, no he wasn't, different actors, but I thought he was great, Carl Wivers, in this series. And this episode for me, 10 out of 10. As always, I think with the Mandalorian, the last they saved the best episodes to the last two. So I'm gonna give you my top three now. I would say episode two is my third favourite, the Minds of Mandalore. I think there was a lot of action in this episode, and I did really enjoy seeing the Minds of Mandalore, and of course it gets further into it as you get into the episode, and of course, when Dinjarin is taking capture, it's great to see him rescued by Bo Katan. There's a lot of riding in this episode. Second favourite, I would say the second to last episode. I do this a lot because I think the last two episodes are normally the best of the Mandalorian, uh the spies. So for me, obviously you've got the jeopardy of Manto being captured, and also it's very sad the way Paz Vizler he takes it for the Mandalorians, doesn't he? If you know what I mean. He's there, he doesn't mind that he throws his life away in a strange way. And it's a very emotional moment. So for that alone, that's my second favourite. But at number one, of course, it's the last episode. You know me, I love the last episodes of the Mandalorian, probably the best, if we did. The top episodes, I think they the top five would all be from or the top six would all be from the the last few episodes of each series. Everything happens in this episode that you want it to happen. You want the Mandalorians to reclaim Mandalore, you want Moff Gideon to be finally defeated, you want everybody to come out of this in a good way, and they do, and I think it's a brilliant ending actually. If they weren't gonna do any more Mandalorian, it's a great ending because everybody's in a happy place, aren't they? Even the Mandalorian, at the end of the episode, you see him, he's there on that planet, he seems quite happy with Grogu, and everybody seems quite a piece in the galaxy, so I think series three is a great one. Some people criticize it, some people like oh one and two are a lot better, but I love them more, I think they're great, and I can't wait for the movie.
