President Nixon resigned and left his personally appointed, non-elected vice president to take over as President in 1974. His name was Gerald Ford and he was the only president we’ve had from Michigan (my home state). Let’s look at how he handled the job and what else was happening in the United States during his short term. Why was it short and why didn’t he win his own election in 1976 is also worth a look.

If you want to have a fuller background to the material in our series, please consider purchasing the workbook I wrote for my high school history classes, Modern United States History, published by Canon Press, in Moscow, Idaho. But whether you get the workbook or just listen, I think you will enjoy the stories and hopefully gain some insights into U.S. history, which is indeed His story!
