Exes Texting & Walls Crumbling: It's Retrograde Season!
Ready to huff and puff and blow the house down? This week's cosmic weather brings a powerful retrograde season that will have us dismantling structures before rebuilding them in more authentic ways. And stay until the end because...Venus!
Saturn retrograde in Aries begins July 13th, inviting us to examine our personal boundaries with fresh eyes. Where have we drawn lines too rigidly, building walls instead of healthy boundaries? Where have we been too permissive, allowing others to encroach on our sacred space? With Neptune traveling alongside Saturn, we may find it challenging to see these boundaries clearly – but this retrograde period offers the perfect opportunity to make necessary adjustments.
What makes this Saturn retrograde particularly significant is its harmonious aspects to both Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. These connections create a unified cosmic message about authenticity and personal power. Uranus supports breaking free from societal expectations that don't serve your true self, while Pluto deepens your connection to genuine personal authority. The message is clear: restructure your life to support who you truly are, not who others expect you to be.
Mercury joins the retrograde party on July 18th in Leo, bringing its familiar communication challenges. But with Mercury forming an exact sextile to Venus in Gemini at the station point, expect a wave of nostalgia – and possibly messages from ex-lovers! Be cautious about rose-colored glasses that make you forget why relationships ended. With Venus simultaneously squaring Mars, these blasts from the past could quickly transform from sweet reminiscence to heated confrontation.
By month's end, we'll have five planets retrograde – Neptune, Pluto, Saturn, Mercury, and Chiron – creating an intensive period of cosmic review. Check where Aries falls in your natal chart to identify which specific life areas need restructuring during this time. Remember that while these retrogrades encourage immediate awareness, they reward thoughtful, deliberate action rather than hasty decisions.

Hello and welcome to Pisces Moon Astrology. I'm your astrologer, kate Leonard, and I'm excited to explore the stars with you. Hi everyone, welcome to the week of July 13th through July 19th. Are you ready to huff and puff and blow the house down? Well, you might want to get ready, because we've got a lot of retrograde and that's going to bring a lot of taking things apart before we put them back together again this week. I am talking about Saturn in Aries turning retrograde on July 13th and, oh my gosh, that is such a big, big deal because he's going to aspect both Uranus the rebel, and Pluto, the powerful, huge, gigantic thing. All right, and then on the 18th, mercury goes retrograde. Yee-haw, I know we're all looking forward to yet another Mercury retrograde, and I mean, the big thing this month is it's like who's not in retrograde Right now? What do we have? We've got Neptune, pluto, already in retrograde, right? Saturn turns retrograde this week. Saturn turns retrograde this week, mercury turns retrograde this week, and then, at the end of the month, chiron goes retrograde. Wow, I mean, get ready. This is going to be a big, big, giant deal. So let's break it down one step at a time, and there's really not a whole lot else going on. You know how we just do that little section of like the other stuff going on in the sky. There's not a whole lot, so we're just going to get right into the big events.
Speaker 1:I do want to thank you all. My numbers have gone up for the podcast, which is awesome. The only reason that matters you guys is one I'd love to have a really thriving community here and two, it helps other people find the podcast and find my work, which is really awesome. So I just want to thank you all. Thank you for being here, liking, sharing, rating the podcast in the apps and doing all this stuff. And yeah, thank you. All, right, oh, and welcome if you're new. I forgot to say that. Lots of new people Welcome.
Speaker 1:Okay, now I'm for real, getting into it. Okay, let's just start with Saturn. Right, that's where the week starts, on the 13th. We've got Saturn turning retrograde. Saturn rules structure, boundaries. He rules a lot of things. You know ambition, hard work, the ability to stick to goals. He rules age in general and old age specifically, and you know things like death, duty, responsibility. Saturn rules a lot, but in this case, I think what we're really looking at is boundaries and kind of how we have our life structured. So turning retrograde means we're supposed to go back.
Speaker 1:I know we've been talking about the Saturn movement into Aries and sort of really building structures that suit us for us, putting ourselves first. But now that he's going retrograde he wants us to take a look. Where have our boundaries loosened up? Where have we let them go a little bit slack? Remember, he's traveling with Neptune. They're almost conjunct, right, they're within, I think, like a degree of each other. They'll hit their exact conjunction next year.
Speaker 1:But Neptune makes it hard to see these things, right, it's confusion and cloudy vision and things like that. So, as we've been already for a while now working on our boundaries and setting them, you know, really so that they serve us and suit us, we may not have seen it perfectly, we may not have gotten it exactly right. So Saturn going retrograde says two things right, look at where we need to firm up the boundaries and really draw clear lines so that we're protecting ourselves and what matters to us, because Saturn's still in Aries. On the other hand, it is possible that we've drawn them in way too tight or that maybe these are walls that we built in the past that we can lighten up a little bit. Neptune being with Saturn is really good for that, because while Saturn builds walls and sets boundaries, neptune is the dissolver, and so he can really help us when we see that we need to either lighten something up a little bit we've been too hardcore or maybe we need to tear that wall down altogether.
Speaker 1:So I guess what I'm saying is whether, whatever it is, adjustments need to be made and Saturn, going retrograde, is really asking us to examine the structures of our lives. And that can even be things not just like the boundaries that we set with people, but it can be the literal the way we have our life structured. Are we spending too much time at work? Are we not allowing ourselves time out, you know, to walk in the sunshine? Are we not allowing ourselves enough rest? Are we putting too much into other people and not structuring enough alone time or whatever that might look like, creative time? Right, because again in Aries, it's like what works for each of us not thinking first about other people, and this is really going to be a week when we are asked to analyze it and firm it up, rebuild it, whatever that means, okay, so I hope that makes some sense.
Speaker 1:But here's the other thing this is not just Saturn turning retrograde, he is making a sextile to both Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius. This is so powerful and it tells us so much about what we're supposed to be doing. And remember he's in Aries, me first, powerful. About what we're supposed to be doing. And remember he's in Aries, me first powerful putting ourselves in the center front row of our own lives. Right, and Uranus is saying how we structure our lives, how we set our boundaries, so that we're protected, other people aren't encroaching on us in some wrong way. I hope that makes sense. Uranus is saying be authentic, don't worry about how people are going to think about this oh, my goodness, I'm going to look all selfish, whatever it is. Uranus says be authentic and with that sextile to Saturn, that energy is flowing well. And Uranus says be authentic, and with that sextile to Saturn, that energy is flowing well and Uranus is going to help us really focus on ourselves and really practice. You know, step into a space that is ours and only ours. Then we've got Pluto on the other side, in Aquarius, also making a sextile, and Pluto is about power, making a sextile to Saturn in Aries personal power. How do we step into our personal power, our authentic personal power. It's all really sort of shockingly unified this week as far as the aspects to Saturn go. It's about authenticity, personal power and really structuring our lives so that they support who we are and what we need.
Speaker 1:Saturn is also about tradition and old ways of doing things. So, again, look at traditions that you hold or the way that you've always done things. Just because you always have doesn't mean you always have to. And even if those traditions and those ways were right at some point in your time maybe they were never right, let's face it. We may have inherited them from family and all kinds of crazy stuff and they were never even right for us right. But even if they were, even if, whatever this means to you as far as traditions and old ways of doing things, that doesn't mean they're right now. And if that's the case, saturn and Aries will bring the courage to let things go and that Aries placement will really sort of empower us. Also, uranus and Pluto in the mix it's going to really empower us and give us the courage to reject what doesn't work any longer. We get to do that just because something's always been in our relationship, our family, our job or whatever it is. Look and see where Aries falls in your chart, because the house placement is going to give you a big clue about what needs restructuring right now.
Speaker 1:Oh, and, we're going to keep working on this area, restructuring whatever it is that's coming up for us this week. We're going to keep working on this. Through about, actually, the end of August, saturn will still be retrograde, but he's going to go into Pisces on September 1st. So even though he'll still be retrograde and we will still be working on restructuring and things like that, it will go into a different area of our lives at that point. So the stuff that's coming up this week when the retrograde starts, we're going to have some time to work on that. So when you start feeling it or when you know it's like oh, wow, today Saturn goes retrograde, I've got to go out and like tear the walls down, right, do it if you want to do it and for some of us it does it comes like a flash. But Saturn is pretty slow moving and really pays off to thoughtful, step-by-step action. He's the mountain goat who makes it to the top of the hill, but it's by one step at a time climbing that mountain. So don't feel like you have to run out, dismantle your entire life right this week. Just know that that energy is starting now. It's going to go through to the end of August, all right, then we'll be restructuring in a Pisces way so it becomes a totally different thing at that point.
Speaker 1:Okay, now on to the 17th and we've got Mercury turning retrograde. He'll be in Leo. And you know what? I'm not going to even go into all of the Mercury retrograde stuff. Y'all know it right. Stuff's going to go wackadoo.
Speaker 1:In fact, this pre shadow, I've been having crazy Mercury snafus the whole time he's been in pre-shadow and I know I haven't been alone because clients oh my gosh, a million clients saying you know already talking about the crazy tech stuff, car stuff, all kinds of just crazy, crazy thing. I have a really good friend who just bought a new car and it showed up and there was some kind of problem with the paint job and she had to not accept the car and they have to try to buff it out. What are you talking about? And Mercury's not even retrograde yet. So expect all of the normal stuff car trouble, email snafus, miscommunications of every conceivable kind, especially the public ones, because he's in Leo. Travel plans, delayed tech going haywire, you know All that stuff. Right, just get ready. Just get ready. This one's a big one. But remember Venus. I know you all like when I do episodes on Venus. I should have just said way up front that I would be talking about Venus, because I know a lot more people would have listened would have listened Anywho.
Speaker 1:When Mercury turns retrograde, he's going to be in an exact sextile with Venus in Gemini. This means a couple of things. One I think the early part of this retrograde story is going to have a weird kind of nostalgic feel to it. It's like think about looking behind us, like looking to the past, but in that sort of warm, fuzzy way, that true nostalgia where you look back and it's not regret, you know. It's not like looking behind and being filled with regret that you shoulda, woulda, coulda, or being totally sad because, oh, the glory days are over. Or is that just me, because I'm old? Anyway, you know what I'm saying. This is a true nostalgia where there's going to be some time spent, I believe for a lot of us, where we're kind of looking back with fond, sweet memories. Look at where Leo, leo and Gemini look at where they're at in your chart, because that might give you some hint about what kind of memories this could be about family members, lovers, just good times with friends. You know, though, just looking back and being like, ah, that was beautiful. I think there's going to be that feel for a lot of us at the beginning at least of this retrograde, and I kind of love that.
Speaker 1:But let's get to the kind of more obvious sort of thing that's going on here Mercury retrograde, talking to Venus, ex-lovers gonna be coming around, oh yeah, oh yeah, no doubt about it For a lot of people. Get ready to talk to the exes, right, and Venus is in Gemini. So it's definitely going to be communication, the emails, the texts, the phone calls, the whatever y'all do. Now, you know the DMs, I don't know Whatever you guys do, some old lover is going to be doing it for sure it's. Yeah, it's pretty guaranteed. Now here's the little problem with that nostalgia bit and the old lover bit. Let's jam these two things together, right. We're going to be looking back, going oh, wasn't that lovely. Yeah, old lover calls up texts, does whatever.
Speaker 1:You know those rose colored glasses, you know how, when you look back, and a lot of the like minor bad stuff is kind of faded away and you're like oh, remember when I was in college. Remember how great it was and we used to do this and that. Or remember high school and it was so much fun. Yeah, it was also torture, right, when you really stop and think about it. But you can get into that weird nostalgic mood where all you kind of remember is the hearts and flowers. Okay, we're talking about this ex-lover thing now. So this person contacts you and you kick into that nostalgia thing.
Speaker 1:Here's my little worry. Like I love the nostalgia thing. The ex-lover thing just is what it is. But smash those two together and you could get that. Oh, remember when I was with him or her, it was so good. And remember how we stayed up all night and we talked all night. You know how you do that thing and that's all true. Like it's not, like you're fantasizing. You really did do that. But then the next day you were like screaming at each other. He wasn't returning your text or you know whatever, whatever it was, but we're only remembering those late night phone calls. Yeah, I'm a little worried that the ex-lover thing is gonna coincide with the nostalgia rose colored glasses and you're gonna forget about why y'all broke up in the first place and it's going to be like we can do this again. All right, I think you get my point right, and here's what I've got to say about this thing.
Speaker 1:Venus is, at the same time that she's making this sextile to Mercury, retrograde and remember, mercury is retrograde, so keep that in context. She's also moving into an exact square with Mars. So it could be that you do the nostalgia thing you let that person back into your life a little bit, you suddenly remember why you hated them in the first place and then war erupts. You see that sequence that I'm a little bit worried about now. Does that necessarily mean that you won't be together? No, sometimes you have to fight out that thing that broke you up before, that thing. That's sort of in the way, right. Sometimes you have to have the blow up over that thing and then Mars and Venus turn into the passionate celestial lovers. That could happen. It could Do.
Speaker 1:I think that's the likely story. I wish I could wish that for you. All right, I wish I could say that everybody is going to reunite and life is going to be wonderful, but I don't think that's going to be the main story. I think it is much more likely that somebody's going to come out from under the rock they've been hiding under and contact you and you may talk a little bit, whatever. And I think that the Mercury retrograde energy of like weird communication stuff and Venus moving into that hard angle with Mars, I think that's going to be the energy that wins and I think you're probably going to like tell them to go pound rocks. That's what I think is going to happen mostly. But you never know, you never know, and sometimes it's just nice to have them come out from under the rock and grovel a little so you can look at it that way too.
Speaker 1:That was mean, I'm sorry, I don't mean to be mean. Anyway, you know, it's always open, you know, and it depends on your natal chart. If you did, if you missed that bonus episode that was not this last one but the one before where we talk about the importance of the natal chart If you missed that bonus episode, that was not this last one but the one before where we talk about the importance of the natal chart in making sense of the weekly astrology. You really need to look at that, because that could determine whether you're going to get the good play out to this relationship thing or the more you know out from under the rock thing. Get what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:Anyway, I'm wishing the best for everyone, whatever that is, and again I just want to thank you so much for being here. I can't tell you how much you mean to me. If you want to talk to me, go over to my sub stack. This is my wish for you always, and until then, bye.
