If you've built your business on pure drive and you're starting to feel the cost — a financial ceiling you can't seem to break, or a quiet exhaustion no strategy is fixing — this episode is for you.

In this conversation, I talk about the two most underutilized nervous system capacities for ambitious women scaling — the invisible architectures that determine whether you can hold the bigness of your vision and the deliciousness of your life at the same time, without trading one for the other.

These two architectures are the difference between scaling that breaks you and scaling that fills you.

Inside this episode:

  • The difference between linear and non-linear capacity (and why most ambitious women are only working with one)
  • The wave-like force already inside you that's meant to carry your business — and what happens when you paddle against it
  • Why the very things you've been postponing until "after you scale" are actually what make scaling possible
  • The invisible capacity leaks quietly draining your time and energy at every revenue level

If you're ready to scale from a life-first place where your nervous system supports the next evolution of your vision — this is your invitation.

Welcome to the Lush Podcast. This is your host, Anna Kinkela, inviting you into your new receivership era with your money, business, and life. Let's begin. Hello, hello, beauties, and welcome back to the podcast. This is Anna Kinkilla, and today I want to talk about the unique capacity architecture for ambitious women who are scaling their business. First of all, I think nervous system capacity is an important conversation to be having at any stage of business growth. But the reason why I see capacity work being such an important lever to focus on, especially at the stage where you start to scale your business, is because you are needing to enter into a different relationship with your time and with your energy as it relates to creating money. And so when you're in a place in your business where you have a body of work that you love, you are delivering incredible transformation to the clients that you're serving and you're wanting to take your business to the next level, creating impact on an even wider scale, welcoming in millions of dollars. This is where capacity truly changes the game for women. For a lot of the ambitious women that I work with, what I notice is that they've largely built the beginning stages of their business on pure drive, right? They have a vision, they have a desire, they step into the space and they make it happen. And it creates some amazing results for them. But the minute they start to step into scaling, or even if they've scaled their business to a certain level, what inevitably starts to happen is this tension place. And the tension place can show up in any level, in any financial level of the business. It kind of just depends on the particular woman and her nervous system. But eventually you reach this tension point where, regardless of the strategies that you've used to scale, regardless of the way that you've distributed your time and energy in your business to scale the body of work that you have, there's this tension place that comes up where you either start to reach a kind of ceiling or a limit on how much presence you're able to have in your life, on how much peace, pleasure, access to the kind of life that you truly want to live, and or you get to a place where you've hit this financial ceiling that you can't seem to scale above, no matter what you do, no matter what strategy you use, no matter how you approach thinking about your business ecosystem, you keep hitting the exact same financial level. This is where capacity becomes the proverbial ace up your sleeve. I think when people traditionally think about capacity, they think about this is the finite nature of how much is available to me. And that is what I call linear capacity. And it is something that's extremely important to consider within your business ecosystem as you're scaling. And frankly, not enough people are actually looking at that. They're scaling from a money-first perspective instead of a life-first perspective. And so very rarely is linear capacity being considered inside of a scaling conversation. And this is where, you know, a lot of things can step out of resonance in your business ecosystem. But the other kind of capacity that is so pivotal to talk about and to calibrate in your body is what I call nonlinear capacity. As the name suggests, nonlinear capacity does not operate based on the rules of linear time and linear energy. If you've ever had the experience where all of a sudden time seemed to expand itself or shrink itself while you were doing something in particular. Those are small little windows into an expression of nonlinear capacity that lands into your linear world. When you're in the process of scaling a business, there is a particular kind of dance that needs to happen between linear and nonlinear capacity, and you having an understanding when it's time for you to expand your nonlinear capacity, and when it's time for you to honor your linear capacity as a way to preserve your life, preserve your body, preserve your well-being. And that kind of dance can only really unfold through you understanding the language of your body. But what I really want to talk about today and focus in on today are the nonlinear capacity aspects that you can leverage really powerfully, in particular to scale your business, that are being completely left out of the conversation in the business world. When it comes to nonlinear capacity, we typically talk about things like expanding our capacity for more money in our nervous system. And this, I have a whole body of work surrounding that. We talk about identity expansion. That's a frequent conversation and an important one. We talk about leadership, but we rarely, if ever, talk about what I call the architecture of lush and the architecture of rhythm. And I'm going to talk about what those two things mean. First off, the reason why I call this architecture is because we have internal architecture that is shaping our capacity to receive and hold what we want in the external world. And then we have external architecture that is structuring and receiving that into physical form, right? And so external architecture are things like the structure of our offers, the systems, right? The structure of our business ecosystem as a whole. There's architecture on the outside that becomes the vessel for receiving clients and money into your world. And similarly, there's a mirror inside of that in your internal world, which is that internal architecture. And so today I'm really focusing on aspects of that internal architecture that falls into the nonlinear capacity realm of the ways that we are stretching, expanding, and deepening your nervous system to receive what you want to create. So this is why I call each of the nervous system capacities that I support folks with as architecture. And so when we look at the architecture of lush and the architecture of rhythm, we are looking at the often invisible levers that increase your time, that increase your energy from a nonlinear perspective. Even though there's only 24 hours in a day, even though you only have so much energy, when your body is in resonance with lushness, when your body is in resonance with your own unique rhythm in your business, this actually serves to give you capacity that on a logical linear level would not exist. I want to start with the architecture of rhythm because this will help you to ground in what I'm talking about. So when I talk about rhythm, I'm talking about what is the way that you approach creation and work inside of your business and inside of your life? What is the rhythm of your life? How are you uniquely meant to create and do inside of your business? Because that is going to look so different from one entrepreneur to the next. Every entrepreneur, every person has a different rhythm to how their creative force expresses itself. If you're familiar with human design, this is essentially what I'm talking about when we look at generator versus manifestor versus projector, right? Looking at all the different types, each one of those types is going to have a different creative rhythm inside of their business. And so if you think about it from the perspective of surfing on a wave, right? If you know how to read the language of your body, the language of how your creative force is moving uniquely, metaphorically, what you're doing is you're actually catching the wave at the exact right time and letting the creative wave carry you. So if we think about the ebbs and flows of a wave, the ebb is meant to actually retract you to gather power, right? And the wave is an expression of that power as the force translates out into the world, right? And this is a metaphor for how your creative force works. Now, most of us are conditioned into creating, creating, creating constantly, right? Pushing against the current and the rhythm inside of our own body. That is categorically conditioned into each and every one of us, despite what our body blueprint is. Even when we talk about generator types in human design who have consistent access to energy, they are also conditioned into work without connecting with their body and connecting with their actual life force. So even generators that are going to have a consistent flow of creative energy, they might not be responding to the correct energy at the right time. So if you think about it in terms of surfing, if you hit the wave at the wrong moment, you end up not being able to get up on that wave and to use the energy of that wave in the most resonant way, right? And so you either end up crashing into the ocean or you end up not even getting up on the board. Now, for ambitious women in particular, what their nervous system is conditioned to do is to actually just paddle through, get to the goal line, no matter what the waves are doing. Right. Most ambitious women have trained their nervous system to force an outcome, to just do the thing, right? And that can be very successful to a certain point until your nervous system and your body just gets to a place of, I can't do it like this anymore. This isn't sustainable. And so it's not that you can't create in that way. It's that you can do something through sheer willpower and drive, but eventually you get to the point where your body can't push anymore. Andor you just reach a certain limit, right? Because when you start to scale, you have to learn how to leverage your time and energy completely differently. And we don't typically look at the architecture of rhythm and the architecture of our work and our creative force until it becomes such a problem that we actually have to heal from it. Most of the time, what tends to happen in businesses that do scale to seven, eight figures and beyond, what tends to happen is that a lot of external shifts happen in the business in order to create the scale, but the entrepreneur themselves never gets off the proverbial hamster wheel, right? They still continue to function in many of the same ways. They just implement a lot of external structures that help them scale their time and energy. So what happens with time is they might actually be successful in scaling to, you know, seven A figures, whatever their desire is, but they start to kind of lose themselves inside of the business itself and start to disconnect and start to shut down in their nervous system because their nervous system is essentially in a pretty consistent shutdown or fight or flight mode. When we are out of coherence with our natural rhythm, the way that we're naturally meant to create and move in our business, eventually our nervous system gets to the point where it shuts down or it's in that constant fight or flight response in order to continue to drive action. A lot of scaling entrepreneurs tend to push off the way that they want to live, the way that they naturally want to be in rhythm with themselves, because they think that if they can just get to this singular goal that they have for their money or for their business, that more time and more energy is going to be created on the other side of the goal. But what's actually true is that that natural pull that you have in your body to take time for yourself, the natural desire that you have to rest, to go somewhere, and you know, not post on social media all the time, those are some of the natural ways that your expanded body, the blueprint that's already inside of you that knows exactly how you are meant to receive and create the money and the business that you want. It's communicating with you all the time. And so that desire that you have to pull back or to rest or to do something different than what your nervous system was so well trained to do, it's actually a signal that's wanting to tell you, hey, like this is how you can actually gain more capacity to, you know, not just do the things that you want to do and receive the things that you want to receive externally, but for you to receive what you want for yourself internally right now, in this moment, where you don't have to wait for it, right? Where you don't have to wait to reach the next milestone. Because what inevitably ends up happening is there's always another milestone, right? Ambitious women, the bigness inside of us is taking us to the next level of whatever that vision is at every single juncture. And so the desires that you have for your life, right, that you have for how you want to feel within yourself, they keep getting postponed for the next thing. And meanwhile, those same receivership patterns that are dictating the rhythm that you have keep operating, regardless of how you structure your schedule. And, you know, more than anything else, they're actually the exact things to be focusing on in order for your capacity to increase in the most expansive ways. When I think about capacity, I think about, you know, this big jug of water. And the more we can leverage our natural rhythm, the more water gets pulled poured into the jug, right? And then the more capacity that we actually have to pull from. And what I'm talking about here is not self-care days. Don't get me wrong, self-care can be great. It's not to say that that's not part of the equation here, but there's a difference between the self-care that we check off a list because we feel like this is how we perform rest or this is how we perform, you know, working in the correct way. And you understanding the unique rhythm of what your body needs at any given time in order to create actually really incredible results in your business, but also to give you the kind of life that you truly want to live. So this is where the architecture of your rhythm can give you so much capacity to create when you learn how to leverage that within your body and your unique nervous system, and how that then wants to translate into the way you operate your business. The next capacity architecture that I want to talk about is the architecture of Lush. And I just want you to take a moment to really sink into that word, Lush. What does Lush mean to you? When I think about Lush, I just think about overflow and pleasure and the experience of having something feel good in the body. This is such a huge edge for ambitious women, because it can feel really forbidden to have an experience of something just feeling good and it being easeful and not like a struggle. What we are often taught when you know we think about like growing our business, particularly as you start to scale, is building a business is really hard. It's a huge struggle. There's gonna be so many initiations, so many tough seasons, you know, all of this kind of contraction. And you know what, that's true. Like it takes a lot to build a big vision. This isn't for everyone. But as human beings, we tend to orient towards struggle and pain. Overwhelmingly, we are wired to see the challenge and the what can go wrong. Like, when is the other shoe gonna drop? And that is a natural protective pattern in the nervous system, particularly if your nervous system is sensing that there's a pattern that's going to repeat itself and somehow harm you, right? And your nervous system will pull up, you know, incidents, circumstances from the past, from even your ancestors that are replaying themselves on a very unconscious level in the present. And so really this anchoring into how lush can I allow this to be is a consistent capacity edge for all women. But when it comes to capacity expansion in particular, when we allow ourselves to tap into pleasure, to tap into goodness, and to follow what feels most useful and most expansive in our bodies, it actually allows us to leverage an overflow of energy that's naturally going to fuel how we move inside of our business and what we create and how we serve. More often than not, I find women doing a lot of things in their business that they feel like they should because somewhere along the line, they learned a rule from some coach or some business course that told them this was how things had to look in order for them to create money, in order for them to be successful. And so without thinking about it, most women will do what they think they have to do in order to create success versus really calibrating to their body, to their pleasure, to their ease, and trying to find a pathway that that fits their unique body and their nervous system. And so the architecture of Lush, this particular capacity, is about tapping into pleasure and ease and goodness from a couple of different levels. Number one, how can I follow ease inside of my business more? How can I tap into pleasure within my business more? If I'm feeling stress and constriction around an offer, around a situation, inside of a launch, where is my opportunity to increase ease or pleasure by just one percent? If something is feeling super complex and heavy, how can I make it feel just a little bit lighter and get more innovative with how I'm approaching it? Right? How can I embed practices inside of my day that help me connect with pleasure? And even when I'm doing the things that I quote unquote have to do in my business, like managing my finances, managing my team, whatever it is, how can I allow that experience to be just 1% more pleasurable for me? I cannot even tell you how that in and of itself can be such a huge component of you gaining more capacity. The smallest shifts create the biggest breakthroughs. Number two is really about how can I actually start to calibrate my nervous system to feel safe with more ease, with more pleasure, with all the goodness that I want to be experiencing in my day-to-day. Something that we often forget is that our nervous system really determines the lens through which we see our entire experience. If you've ever had a moment, and we all have, where we've felt very dysregulated, so where we felt a lot of anxiety, right, or sadness or anger, right? You might remember how that experience in your body informed the lens through which you understood your current situation. So for instance, if I'm feeling a lot of anxiety about money, my lens and perspective is going to be looking at what are all the different ways this can go wrong, right? How is the situation that's unfolding in my external world confirming my internal state of being with anxiety? And that's ultimately what my nervous system is looking for evidence for. Versus when we are able to regulate and access a state of self that's connected to safety within us, within our ability to create, within our ability to navigate any kind of challenging situation and figure it out, then the possibilities start to open themselves up, right? Instead of just feeling the anxiety with money, you can start to identify potential pathways for how to problem solve the situation with money. And so, in that same vein, if you consider a nervous system that has normalized pressure, stress, things being hard and complicated, if that's the norm that your nervous system is normalized into, then the lens through which you see your business ecosystem, the lens through which you make decisions, through which you move, everything is being informed by that programming, by that receivership programming in your body. I've seen this happen so many times in sessions where I support women to tap into the lens of pleasure or ease or peace. And oftentimes these sensations, even if we've experienced them in different situations inside of our life, when applied to business, when applied to money, it can start to feel like almost a foreign experience because we might not have felt that a lot when we've worked or, you know, associated things with money with pleasure, right? Or business with pleasure. Those associations are not natural neural pathways in our nervous system. Those are things that we actually have to create because most of us haven't had pleasurable experiences that have taught us that money can be pleasurable or business can be pleasurable, the way that we work can be pleasurable, right? And so we have to intentionally weave those pathways in. Otherwise, the patterns that we have with stress, with overworking and overdoing, overcomplicating, right? All of the ways we overextend ourselves in different ways informs the way that we even see our possibility and what is available to us and how we choose to move in any given moment and make decisions. And so when we start to bring in the architecture of lush, it starts to open up your energetic system in a whole different kind of way. It starts to open up your body to new kinds of experiences and to creative force flowing into your body at a whole different level. If you think about moments where you've had experiences of pleasure, whether we're talking about sex or, you know, um having the most delicious meal you've ever had, or, you know, putting your feet um into the ocean and just experiencing that sensory experience of pleasure? Think about how that's impacted your body. Think about how that has shifted your capacity, not just in that particular moment, but in how you approached your entire day moving forward? What if you were to see through the lens of that pleasure, of that level of peace, when you looked at your business, when you were operating inside of your business, when you were making decisions? How different would the external architecture of your business look if that were true? And how much more creative force, life force would you have in your system if that was the kind of experience that you had more days than not? This isn't to say that you're never going to experience stress or that you're never going to extend yourself. Like stress can actually be a very healthy thing and is a healthy thing in certain amounts. But it is to say when you allow yourself to leverage higher and higher access to pleasure and goodness, that is going to reshape your capacity and give you an entirely different lens on what's possible and what you can create. This not only energizes you in the moment, but it gives you access to a vision that previously was not available to any overextended parts of yourself. And when we don't tend to this aspect, this is where a lot of invisible capacity leaks happen. What I also find to be true is that when we can start to pay attention to where does my body feel open? Where does my body feel expanded? Where does my body naturally access lushness, the yes in my system, we begin to open up the pathway for more aligned choices and decisions that are in resonance with our natural blueprint. Because if you think about creating a pathway in your business ecosystem that is most naturally aligned for you, it's going to be the pathway that feels most easeful, but that you often reject the most as an ambitious woman, because oh, it can't be that easy, right? There must be something wrong if it's that easy for me to create money that way. Because there is a receivership rule in every person's nervous system that says money means hard. I have to work hard to make a lot of money, right? This has to be hard. This has to be complicated. This has to involve more than just this. But the things that are useful for you, the places where your body naturally opens and seeks the goodness very naturally that we interrupt, that our protective parts interrupt, right, is the exact places where your pathway is telling you, go here, because this is your unique pathway to receiving the thing that you want. And so the more that you can calibrate to that, trust that, receive that in your own body, the more that pathway is going to open itself up to you. And you're going to be able to read your body's signals in a different kind of way. What also happens inside of the architecture of Lush is that you start to normalize the experience of pleasure and goodness at a completely different level. And this is what actually allows you to hold money, the bigness of your vision, right? On one side, and then also a depth of deliciousness inside of your life. This isn't just about living the kind of life on the outside that you envision for yourself, but also feeling the receivership within your life at a profound level. One of the things my clients tell me the most is I didn't even know how deeply I could receive in the moment until we did this work together. Because it wasn't just about, oh, I'm in Bali and you know, I'm working three hours a day and frolicking for the rest of the day, and it's requiring less of me in terms of time and energy. But it's also the felt experience of being able to drop in and receive from the playtime, from the moments that you have. And this is a particularly challenging piece for most ambitious women who have businesses. Because what tends to happen is even when energy and time gets freed up, there's a common experience of I'm still thinking about work. I'm still worried about the thing that I have to do tomorrow. I'm still preoccupied with the launch and with this client situation and whether my team will do this. And there are so there's so much internal noise that's happening, even in the down moments. There's so much anticipation and stress of like, well, shouldn't I be doing something in the business? Is it actually safe for me to receive this goodness for it for me to receive from my life? Right. And when you build in the architecture of lush into your nervous system, you're actually able to replenish when it's time to play and rest so that you do have the actual capacity to jump back into work and feel energized by your work when you get there. Because what tends to be true is that, you know, if you've taken time off to rest or do self-care, tap into pleasure, but you're not fully in the moment and allowing yourself to receive it, the capacity isn't actually being built because your body isn't fully there in the moment, right? And we predominantly live in a culture that's, you know, we relax by scrolling on our phone, right? We relax by watching TV. And, you know, I love to do a Netflix spinge here and there. But at the end of the day, if our nervous system hasn't built this capacity to receive the lushness of the moments that we are in and the time that we do have off, and the moments of rest that we take, the capacity building isn't happening in our body, even if we're checking it off our list. I can't remember where I read this, but it was some famous CEO that said one of the most important things that you can do as you're growing your business is having a lot of free space and time to rest. Because this is literally when your creative vision, your creative ideas ripen at the highest level. And I've found that to be true for myself. That when I try to push and create and birth the vision almost by force, and I feel the pressure of the vision pushing up against me, and I don't follow that invitation into lushness. It actually really interrupts my capacity to be able to birth it, right? And when we even think about a pregnancy, it takes nine months to birth something. It takes nine months of your body growing something, incubating something, creating space for that thing to grow, allowing yourself the time and the space to actually make that happen before it comes into physical form. And so our invitations into goodness, into pleasure, into rest, into all of those components at a level where we can actually receive that time fully, receive that energy fully, is what allows us to then step into coherent rhythm to execute on the vision that's on our heart. And so I love talking about identity work, I love talking about leadership, I love talking about strategy and the external aspects of the business ecosystem as it scales. All of that is important conversation and capacity-building work. And the thing that actually creates the capacity for you to hold your identity and your leadership and the external architecture of the business ecosystem as you scale are these two capacities: the architecture of lush and the architecture of rhythm. They replenish your energy, they generate more time and more space and more presence. And that is what ultimately influences your ability to hold both the bigness of your vision and the deliciousness of your life at the same time. This is exactly what I support you to do for your own unique nervous system, your own unique pathway in your business inside of my two-part workshop called Flush. And inside of this two-part workshop, I'm going to be talking about how to leverage capacity to scale your business in a way that's congruent for you, for your body, for the life that you want to live and for the big vision that you're here to steward in the world. And then on day two, you are going to be creating your own personalized pathway to creating that inside of your own unique business ecosystem. And we are going to be looking at some of the capacity leaks that are currently unfolding within your business and then how to really leverage those leaks and make them into your capacity expanders for the next evolution of your growth. You are going to walk away with a completely different understanding of what capacity means for you at this stage of your growth and the next best steps for you to take to shift what's going on in your business ecosystem and inside of your nervous system to hold the big vision and the lusciousness of your life at the same time. So we really get into the nitty-gritty here. It includes some really powerful somatic practices. And I really want to invite you to come. It's$27, and it is going to completely shift the lens through which you see where you're headed and what you can do now to start to shift that experience. So the link is included in the show notes, and I hope to see you there. Thank you so much for joining us inside of Lush.
