What's The Point Anyway?

Episode #46 - The Next Generation of Catholic Converts with Emily Torres

Luke McInnes

As is probably the case for anyone interested in Catholic or Christian content, I came across some great little videos from Emily Torres AKA Catholic.Converts in my journey to study the Catholic faith and was immediately impressed by her wisdom and intellect. I also saw that as someone in her early 20's, she was very good at using the mediums of this present age like Instagram & TikTok to present things in a way that speaks to a modern audience.

I was thrilled when I reached out to her and she was all too willing to join me on the show. This was a really fun conversation, where we spoke a lot about the youth of today and how things like AI are influencing the way we communicate and learn. She also shared her story on how she came to first believe, then later entered into the Catholic Church and what that means for her now in her day to day life which also includes working at CatholicAnswers.com.

Welcome back to what's the point anyway. I'm your host Luke. And this is my conversation with Emily Torres. Emily's a 22 year old out of California. And she's the host of the extremely popular online apologetics channel called Catholic converts. We had a really cool conversation. We spoke a lot about that sort of younger generation and even her experience with the kids another decade below her coming through school. learning through in an AI world where unfortunately that means basic things like spelling, let alone thinking about deeper questions, um, are really foreign to them. spoke about how she sort of became a Christian during her teenage years and what that meant for her. Um, and then later becoming Catholic. Um, and she's had so much experience now, sort of four or five years in the online world, sort of creating content, um, and sort of arguing in favor of. of the Catholic Church, including all the blowback that comes with that, that she had some great advice on dealing with it and how it's helped her to grow in her understanding and her own humility. So hope you enjoy it as much as I did. uh If you do enjoy the show, please do us a favor, give the show a like, a subscribe, or share it with a friend who you think might get some value from it.
