It's Time to Rise Up
Keys to Healing and Wholeness with Seantell Coffey Pt 1 - 41
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Healing is one of those topics that can stir up hope and heartbreak at the same time, especially if you have prayed for a long time and nothing seems to change. We sit down with returning guest Seantell Coffey to slow things down and to rebuild a biblical view of Christian healing rooted in God’s character, not hype, guilt, or formulas. If you or someone you love is dealing with chronic illness, pain, or a scary diagnosis, this conversation is meant to bring clarity, courage, and a steady place to stand.
We start with the foundations: prayer is not just asking God to “make me well,” it is a relationship, listening, waiting, and learning to trust Him in hard seasons. We talk about why we get sick, what Scripture says about sickness after the fall, and why it is dangerous to assume every illness is directly caused by a person’s sin. At the same time, we make room for honest self-examination by inviting God to reveal deeper roots, including the spiritual weight of unforgiveness, without slipping into condemnation.
Then we unpack one of the most encouraging word studies for anyone seeking healing: the New Testament word sozo. You may read it as “saved,” but it also means delivered, protected, healed, preserved, and made whole. That changes how you see salvation, how you read healing passages, and how you approach God as Jehovah Rapha, the Lord your healer. We also wrestle with why we do not see more miracles, how people explain them away, and what humility, desperation, and persistent prayer can look like in real life.

She's a previous guest, so be sure to listen to her testimony from episode 37. Seantell, thank you for your time. Thank you. You're welcome. You're here to walk us through a series of your teaching on healing, and I've had a front row seat to what the Lord has done in your life. Over the past several years, I've witnessed you grow into a walking miracle through God's grace. I just want to say to listeners, if you or someone you know needs healing, this is the episode for you. So I just want to begin by saying one reason we want to do this series, Amber and I and Seantell, is because there can be a lot of doubt, confusion, and questions about the healing and what the Bible actually says about healing. Our hope is that in the upcoming episodes, there will be clarity given to questions and confusion and doubts. So with that being said, Seantell, where would you like to begin?
Prayer First And Scripture Keys
Seantell CoffeyWell, my story of healing is long and involved. So there's pieces of it like Kim had referenced in the podcast. So I would encourage you to go back there. But in a nutshell, what I've come to believe about healing is that God is a healer. And if we are in Jesus, we will be healed either instantly over time. And I like to call it a walkout because it sort of is, or in heaven. But one way or the other, God is gonna heal us. Amen. Amen. So just a reminder as we get started, um, there's a ton of scripture that I wanted to share, and defining biblical words is very helpful. It's been helpful for me. So you might want to grab some paper and grab your Bible because we can't have this conversation without God's word for sure. But what I want to share with you is what has come out of this journey. And it's been an incredible walk with the Lord. So just a few little pointers as we get started here, but prayer is premier. You know, when I got saved as a kid and even in my earlier years with Jesus, I had sort of a servant mentality that that was what I was to focus on. And it really wasn't, I didn't focus on relationship with the Lord. And that was a key component that I was missing. So your relationship with Jesus is the number one thing. And although I had a relationship with Jesus, I had not learned to listen to him through prayer. I hadn't learned to wait on him, and I hadn't learned to trust in hard seasons. And so prayer is essential. And I'm not talking about God just asking God to make me well, but I'm talking about patiently and persistently talking to him about all of it and listening and watching for how he's going to instruct. Another key component for me was really digging into the Bible. I've always been a student of the word. I've loved the word, but I wasn't applying it in my healing journey. And so the Bible is full of practical life guidance. And in the realm of healing, I like to call these keys that help unlock what we're trying to understand. The Bible is full of keys to health and healing. We can have a Bible, we can read it, which is what I did for years. But if you don't invite Jesus in to give you the revelation you're needing, you're going to miss things. And every bit of the Bible is best read as a conversation between you and the Father. So turn those pages into questions, prayers, confessions, and talk with him all the way through. Walking through a healing journey is not a clear-cut formula. It wasn't for me, and it hasn't been for a lot of people that I know that I talk to and walk with. But we can glean insight from others as we're going through this, but everything we put into practice needs to be discussed with the Father and backed by Scripture. Our life is in God alone, and He knows how to deliver His children from anything we face. So get your directions from Him. Jesus healed in many ways. And when you're reading the Bible, look all through the Gospels, mark all the healings, study them because there's great insights to be discovered. Ask God to reveal truths to you through those stories and read through the whole Bible with healing and health in mind. It is very eye-opening. And the last thing I want to say as we're getting started is belief is very important. Coming to understand that God desires our wholeness was a game changer for me. 3 John 2, I love this verse. Beloved, I pray that you prosper and be in health, just as your soul prospers. And in Isaiah 53, 4, we read that he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities. Upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and by his wounds we are healed. And this passage tells us that we are healed body, soul, and spirit. And that's a beautiful thing because Jesus paid the price for our complete wholeness.
Kim McIntireI feel like a common question for people is why do we get sick? It may seem really simplistic, but how would you respond to that, Seantell?
Seantell CoffeySo sickness, what I read in the Bible is that sickness came in with the fall of man. And this should give us a huge clue that sin and sickness are tied together. In Scripture, sickness is linked to disobedience, it's linked to judgment. Health is linked to God's favor, obedience, and blessing. Original sin, my sin or your sin towards me, somehow sickness is tied to this. We know that sin from the very first day it entered has dramatically altered God's original design. And his original design did not include sickness and death. But thankfully, heaven does not include that either. So God made a way for us, and it's all through Jesus. As I say this, I do want to add that all sickness is not tied directly to a sin that a sick, the sick person did. Mm-hmm. That's good. And we need to be very clear about that. Right. The story of the man born blind is a good example of this in John 9. And the verse says that neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. I would say that there is a good amount of sickness that is tied to personal sin or spiritual roots. But not all, and therefore, we never want to assume this is the issue. We want to pray, we want to ask God to reveal anything behind the sickness that we need to take responsibility for. But if nothing is revealed, we don't judge or assume. So in Psalms 103, verses two through five, it says, Bless the Lord, O my soul, forget not all forget none of his benefits, who forgives all of your iniquities, heals all your diseases, and redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, and satisfies you with good, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. I want to encourage you to read this psalm and look for the blessings and your responsibilities that are listed in this whole chapter. It's a powerful chapter with great promises.
Asking God For Deeper Roots
Amber SampsonSo I feel like you said something that may be like the first time someone's ever heard this, but you'd say, you know, to pray and ask God to reveal if there's anything behind the sickness, something we need to take responsibility for. Um can you dive into that? How long should I wait? How long? Um just can you kind of dig in on that a little bit more? Because I feel like a lot of people maybe have never heard that before.
Seantell CoffeyI had never heard that before. Um I went to, I think I referenced this in the last podcast we did, but I went to a a Christian retreat for people with chronic illness. And that's the first time that I heard that I have responsibility in this. Yeah, what like why? How that happened. Yes, exactly. So there again, it's keys in scripture that we're gonna talk about more as we get into this. But if you if you're praying for God to heal you and you're not seeing movement with that, I would be asking for God to reveal if there's something deeper to that.
Amber SampsonAnd that's what what would something well maybe you can share from your own story, but like what would be some things that he might reveal, you think?
Seantell CoffeyHe might reveal that you're holding unforgiveness towards someone.
Amber SampsonYeah.
Seantell CoffeyAnd it's very clear in scripture that he wants you to be forgiving people, and that if you aren't forgiving people, there's consequences to that unforgiveness. So that's one little one little clue, but there's many that we're gonna unpack.
Kim McIntireAwesome.
Seantell CoffeyYeah, awesome.
Kim McIntireSeantell, your testimony is God is healer. And why don't you just tell us more about that? I know that there are some scriptures that Amber and I are going to um to read, but why don't you just give us a little bit of an intro with that?
Seantell CoffeySure. So when I accepted Jesus as my savior and decided to follow him, I thought that getting saved, in quotes, getting saved, meant that my sins were forgiven because of what Jesus did on the cross and that I would go to heaven. And I think a lot of people f thought that or think that, you know, that that's the that's it, that's what it means to be saved. Right. But although that is true, there's so much more to salvation. I've learned that the word saved is literally one of the most wonderful truths in the scriptures. And so I want to unpack this word saved. So there's multiple scriptures that use the word saved, and in the original text, it's the word sozo. And the word means to deliver you, to protect you, to heal you, to preserve you, to save you, to do well towards you, to make whole. It's used a hundred at least a hundred times in the New Testament. But there's some scriptures here that I think could be amazing. And so would you want to share John 3.17, Kim? Yeah.
Kim McIntireJohn 3.17, for God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Seantell CoffeySo that word saved is that word so-so. And it means it's not just like saved to translate you to heaven. It's it's this whole package that we have that you're delivered, protected, healed, preserved, saved, made whole. Here's another one. Amber, would you do that one?
Amber SampsonYeah, Matthew 1, uh, verse 21. She shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
Seantell CoffeyRight. And then there's Luke 9, 56, and I'm gonna use this from an older, from a new King James version, because part of this verse is actually missing in it, and it refers to for the Son of Man has not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And that's wow, that's powerful when you think about that. And when you think in terms of save being that whole package, not just getting them to heaven, but the whole package now. And then, of course, we know James 5:15, the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. But what's really cool is when you start digging into this word, you also realize they use the same exact sozo word to translate for healed in scripture. And in the newer translations, sometimes they say made well, healed. So in Mark 523, this verse, my little girl is at the point of death. Come lay your hands on her so that she may be made well and live. Again, it's that sozo word that Jesus came to give us all of that. Kim, do you have Luke 8, 36?
Kim McIntireYes, for those who had seen it, told them how the demon-possessed man had been healed. Right.
Seantell CoffeyIsn't that interesting? They use the word healed for the demon-possessed man. He was healed, he was made whole. And then Amber, there's one more in Acts.
Amber SampsonYeah, Acts 14, verse 9. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, um, said in a loud voice, standing up straight on said in a loud voice, stand up straight on your feet, and he sprang up and began walking.
Seantell CoffeySo the beauty of this word, one one of the first times I taught this, a beautiful Christian woman that I love, she's in her eighties. She'd never put all this together before, and she said it just completely transformed her heart about seeing God as a healer. When you understand that he uses this word save and healed, you know, it it means the same thing, but they're using it in context and different stories. It's powerful and it helps you to understand the heart of God, that God wants to save, heal you in that way. So I believe that God allows a lot of things on this earth that are not his desire, right? Children are abused, marriages fall apart, people die without knowing him. I believe these things break his heart and are not his desire. We don't normally hear the question, is it God, is it God's will that children are being abused or that marriages fall apart? Because we know the answer is like, no, absolutely not. But in the realm of sickness and healing, we aren't so sure what God's heart is on the topic. So we need to get clear. I get asked sometimes, is it God's will to heal? I don't think that's really the best question. I believe God is always working in our life for our good, our wholeness, and he sent Jesus and his saving work for these things. Instead of the question, and they're talking in terms of like healing from sickness. Sure. Sure. But instead of that question, if it's his will, I believe a better statement around the topic would be I don't know the how or when of the healing, but I believe God to be a healer because he's good. He wants us living an abundant life of joy and peace and love. So I like to answer it that way. He is good and he is a healer. We don't know the how or the when, but he that is who he is. We are going to be healed one way or the other, like I said before. But until we see healing, we keep praying and we keep seeking God.
Slow Down, Meditate, And Listen
Amber SampsonAs I kind of that word sozo looking at it like the scripture here from you know, just if you're reading it off your page in your Bible, you automatically think saved as in going to heaven. But it's God wants to do so much more. He does. It's not just like He's He's so good. I don't even think I know I personally can't always wrap my head around it, but like He's so good. He wants to do more than just get us to heaven. He wants to deliver us, He wants to protect us, He wants to heal us, preserve us, save us, just as you were saying, like, really let that sink in. Like He wants to do a lot more than just get you to heaven and spend eternity with you. He wants to make your years, your time here on earth to be with wholeness. Right. And I just I think like, I don't know, for me, I just kind of need to sit in that for a second. Like, that's just so good. There's so much more that he wants to do. And um, you know, I know I've had friends who've been praying for healing for a long time, but I've I've thought with them, you know, and even shared with them, like uh God can heal you right now, but there's a work he wants to do in that. And if he heals you right now, you're you're gonna miss out on what he's trying to do through you to purify you of that unforgiveness and get rid of that burden that you're carrying or whatever else it might be, you know. Um, you know, some obstacles that you still are tripped up on from years and years ago. And God's so good that way. It doesn't feel good because it's hurtful, you know, it's painful, but he's so good that he wants to heal you from those past hurts and and he wants you to be released of the burdens uh that you're carrying that are perhaps attached to those to that illness. And so I think you're just I don't there's probably a few words that are being rocked because I don't think a lot of people have heard about healing in this way. So I just want to encourage the listener, don't feel like you have to rush through this push pause, sit and pray over it, pray over the things that are being said, and you know, uh write these scriptures down, pray over them, journal them. Amen. Ask the Lord to come into those scriptures as you read them for yourself, because this is, I mean, we could probably push the stop button now because this is just so it there's a lot of good stuff right here. So and meditate on it. Yeah.
Kim McIntireReally meditate. Yeah. I would say every scripture that is referenced in this episode and those to come, meditate on them. One thing I've learned about the Lord is when you read his word and you soak in a verse, he'll reveal the truth to you and confirm it in your spirit. Right. Yeah. And he will speak to you. Yeah. If we give him time and attention, the Lord will speak. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't want to give the time and attention to meditation. And meditation simply means thinking on the word of God and listening. Yeah. Because the Holy Spirit speaks. Yeah. Seantell, uh, what if we have I'm sure we have listeners who don't believe that God is a healer, what would you speak into that listener?
Jehovah Rapha And Believing God Heals
Seantell CoffeyWell, I would want to cur encourage them that we must trust that God still heals today. And not only that he can, but that he does do it. If we truly don't believe God wants to heal, then we are gonna have a really long hard struggle in this process of just even praying for healing. During my sickness, I knew God could heal, but truly had no belief that he wanted to. My thoughts around praying for healing were, well, why bother? Because he's gonna do whatever he wants to do. And my prayers don't really matter at all in this because he's sovereign, he's gonna do whatever he wants. I also discounted people who talked about healing. I believe they were wrong in their teaching because of how I had been raised. God gently took me by the hand. Oh my goodness. Praise God, he did that. And he led me to see the lies that I was believing about him and healing. I've repented and asked him to teach me. And that is when the scriptures started to really come alive. So now my stance on this is God does still heal today. He's always been a healer, he will always be a healer. The Bible tells us in Exodus 15 that God is a healer. It it talks about that I am the Lord your healer. And this is around Moses and and he reveals himself in that way. One of the interesting pause for just a moment.
Kim McIntireYeah. If you are in a place where you're feeling some conviction that you've believed some lies, I would press pause right now, and I would, well, not right now, but after I tell you what you should consider, I would consider just praying and saying, Lord, would you reveal to me. Any lies I've believed about healing, would you impress upon my heart truth and forgive me if I've been agreeing in agreement with the enemy about who you are in regard to healing? Yeah, that's good. Because that's not ours to say, that's God's to say. Right. But I believe if you pray, the Lord's gonna speak to you.
Seantell CoffeyYeah.
Kim McIntireSo please press pause and just just talk to the Lord about it and then pick it back up after you've prayed that. That's gonna open your heart, mind, and spirit to what's coming next in this in this interview right now. That's good.
Seantell CoffeyAnd I even want to say too, I love your encouragement to really move through this slowly. This, we're gonna give a lot of information, but this has been years in the building. Yes. So even just the word sozo, I remember when God unpacked that for me. I meditated on that for months. That alone, that one truth nourished me for months to understand the character and the heart and the will of God towards me. So that's good. Amen. I agree with that.
Kim McIntireI didn't mean to interrupt, but I just felt we should take a pause there. Go ahead, Fred.
Seantell CoffeyOne of the ways that I want to encourage you to think about God as a healer. Also, if you really struggle in this, you know, we learn in church, if you've been in church as a, you know, a kid growing up, um, and even if you've come to know the Lord as an older person, you learn things about the Lord, the character of the Lord, that God is always our shepherd. He's Jehovah Roy. These are names of God I'm going to talk about. We learn that he's our peace, Jehovah Shalom. We hear that he's our righteousness. That's Jehovah Teskenu. He's our provider, Jehovah Jira. How many times, you know, are we struggling to pray for provision and we just remember, okay, God's our provider, God's our provider? And we know that to be true. We know that he's present with us, Jehovah Shamma. We are, we don't doubt that. God is with us, he's with us. But how many times do we stop short in declaring that he is our healing God, Jehovah Rafa? And that is a name that he named himself. We diminish the fact that he heals. And that is that's sad that that happens. We should look at the overwhelming evidence in scripture and ask ourselves, why are we not seeing more people healed today when you understand the names of God?
Why We See Fewer Healings Today
Kim McIntireI feel like that's a valid question. If people are thinking that or asking themselves that question now, like, well, I maybe there are people listening that have never seen someone healed or heard of someone they know who has been healed. So why why do you think we don't see more people healed, Seantell?
Seantell CoffeyI think there's so many reasons. I bet you girls could name a bunch of them yourself. Sure. So many reasons.
Kim McIntireWell, I have a couple, but I think you because of your experience, I feel like you have more probably.
Seantell CoffeyWell, in a lot of Christian circles, people aren't praying and asking God to heal because they don't believe that God wants to. That's right. They just don't believe He wants to.
Kim McIntireRight.
Seantell CoffeySome people don't have faith in the prayers for healing because of what they are taught. That would be my situation. They're taught that healing passed away with the apostles and that it doesn't really happen today. And now I do want to say, most people will say God can heal. They I don't hear that, that God can't do it. Right. But it's more about he doesn't want to or it's not what he does today. I also see that people are wanting to protect God's reputation. I hear that a lot. If we don't ask God to heal, then no one gets hurt if it doesn't happen. And that's so sad to me because we're not asking. And the Bible's clear, ask, you know. Ask it. Yes. People want to protect the sick person or their loved ones from the disappointment if they're not healed. I think that believing traditions of men's teachings over what the scripture says is another one. I even I'm guilty of that. I had a friend early on that actually brought me a CD to listen to about healing prayer. I listened to it and to my shame, I threw it in the trash and just thought that's almost heresy. Like that's because I was taught that is not truth. And I believe that wasn't truth.
Kim McIntireAnd your proof that someone can be saved, be right in church regularly, reading the Bible, praying, and say that's not real. Right. So that what I one of the things that I love most about you is you are so honest about I believed this, but now I believe this. Right. Or I believed that, and now I believe this would be a better way to say yes. That God can change your mind. He can indeed change your heart. Exactly. He's able.
Amber SampsonAnd and it's okay. Yeah. It's okay. Give yourself permission to change the way you think right now.
Seantell CoffeyAbsolutely. Amen. And make a choice to do it. Yeah. Yes. That's good. See, I need to change the way I'm thinking. That's right. Yeah. Another thing that I see is people have seen abuse with healing prayer and healing ministry. And so there's distrust around the practice. So they just throw the baby out with the bathwater. Yeah. I think people give up too soon and they stop praying and they take a no, they take nothing happening as a no from God.
Amber SampsonSo how do you how do you how do you stay encouraged when you've got a loved one who's struggling with the with the diagnosis and you're not and you're not seeing it's not happening for sure as fast as you want most of the time, but how do you how would you encourage somebody who's in that right now?
Seantell CoffeyYeah, if you can continue just to lean in with relationship with the Lord, because I'm gonna talk a little bit here later about how important it is to not just seek the healing, but the healer. And once I started, once I started um grabbing hold of this information, nothing had changed in my symptoms. But I was encouraged I was encouraged, I was strengthened because now I'm seeing God in a different way. Wow. I'm seeing him as my father, I'm seeing him as present, I'm seeing him as caring. And that made me want to know him even more. So it's all it's all wrapped up in him.
Amber SampsonYeah, it's uh it's all a journey. And like we were just saying a little bit ago, he could have healed you instantly, but he wanted to teach you all this whole wealth of knowledge that you're blessed so many people with, and now you're blessing even more people with in these, you know, um, in this episode. So it's it's pretty neat.
Seantell CoffeyIf you if you can just lean into the Lord and and just keep telling him, I want to know you more, I want to know you more, I want to know you more, he will do that in you.
Kim McIntireAnd I've I and I truly believe when you're when you get to the point that you're will you are willing to believe and ask for healing, and you're in pursuit of healing. Remember, be in pursuit of the healer first. Right.
Seantell CoffeyYeah. It's okay to be in pursuit of healing. Yes, yes. But the the the relationship with him trumps everything. Amen. So you're you're running after him, amen. And the gold you're gonna get on the other side is priceless. Yeah. I mean, it's true. It's better than a he than the healing because you learn to know your father. Yeah. And so it's just it's beautiful.
Amber SampsonOur relationship, it can't be conditional. Well, I'm not gonna if you don't heal my loved one or you don't heal me, then I'm I'm out. I'm not gonna believe you. But I, you know, it's like our friendships or marriages or whatever. You love them in spite of anything, and you're you're in it for the long haul. And that's the same way with our relationship with the Lord, where it's not based on what He does for me. It's not, you know, whether this happens or this happens or this doesn't happen, but you know, I'm gonna continue in this walk with you regardless if I ever if I ever get this healed or whether you ever heal my loved one.
Seantell CoffeyRight, that's right. Well, the very first thing, honestly, that started happening for me was I started getting peace because I was resting in my father's care.
Amber SampsonWow.
Seantell CoffeyAnd that's Christ's you can go a long way with that. A long way because you start to understand his heart. One last thing I want to say about uh reasons why, you know, people don't believe that he heals. I I think that people take stories like Paul's Thorn in the Flesh or Timothy's tummy illnesses, and they they literally build a full-blown theology around why God doesn't heal people, but they don't understand the heart of God around healing. And I think it it stifles them and it keeps them stuck. I recently read a book called Lead with Prayer. I highly recommend this book. It's not about healing, but it's about prayer, and it's a powerful book. But during an interview with the author, one of the questions really stuck out to me. The interviewer asked, Why do we not see miracles happen in the US today, like other parts of the world? And boy, I really leaned it in. And they were talking about healing and deliverance in this segment. He said, We do see them, but we fail to call it a miracle because we think it's something that can be explained away by medical treatment, or that it was gonna happen anyway.
Kim McIntireCan I interrupt for just a moment? Yeah. To that point, I'm not gonna go into the full story, but my dad had a fall, was at a local hospital, they did x-rays, said we cannot do the surgery that is required. We're gonna have to take get you to St. Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma, or Cox in Springfield, Missouri. Ended up that he ended up in at St. Mary's in St. Louis, Missouri. Somewhere between leaving the local hospital to getting to St. Mary's in St. Louis, he was healed. And I will I will stand on that all day long. Because when they did the x-ray at St. Mary's, they're like, Well, this isn't gonna require surgery. Wow. You're gonna need some physical therapy. And of course, from the time he left our local hospital and got to St. Mary's by ambulance, by the way. So that was quite a drive when you're in pain, right? But we had prayer warriors praying. Yeah. I know you, Kim, and I know you had many people praying. I'm telling you, pretty much everyone that I believed would say a prayer. I've got a mighty army of the city. Which is a key. Yes. This is a key. Get your people praying. But to the point of explaining away. So we go to dinner with friends after he comes home. He's in physical therapy, he's walking, he's walking without a cane, he's walking, I'm sorry, without a walker. The next couple weeks, he's walking without a cane. He's back to work, right? And I'm telling these friends of ours. And I'm like, so you're not gonna believe this story with my dad. And I'm telling her the story. She goes, Well, they could have read the x-rays wrong at the local hospital. So that's an example. And let me tell you, I looked at her straight in the eye and I said, I choose to believe God healed my dad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Now, is it possible they misread an x-ray? Of course it's possible. But shouldn't we be more quick to give God glory and praise and give a testimony than to excuse a possible mistake by an x-ray technician or the person who read it? Right. And so I'm just like, Lord, remind me that when people try to excuse away the work of your hand, I stand on the truth that you're the healer. Right. Amen. Amen. Because this is what I know. When we give God the credit, it honors him. Yeah. So anyway, I didn't mean to interrupt. No, but when you said perfect example. But when you said that point, I'm like, I cannot not tell that story. Yeah.
Seantell CoffeyYeah. That's a good, good story for sure. He's he also went on to say people aren't praying for miracles. Therefore, there is no expectation of seeing them. They're not looking for them. Right. They're not asking God for them. And another thing he said was people are embarrassed to share that a miracle's taken place because they're afraid of judgment. And that's sad in our Christian circles that we're going to be judged for that. Yeah. It's true. But lastly, he told a story that blew my mind. He said overseas, they have two components that we don't model well here in America. Number one, desperation, because we have a lot of money. We have medical care. We have medication. We have therapy. A lot of resources. A lot of resources. He said the other component is humility. They are desperate and they go ask. They will pray. And he went on to share a story about a little girl who was lame. And I don't know if it was from birth or she was in an accident, but a group of people gathered around that girl and prayed for 30 hours and she was healed. I've never heard of a prayer group going that long here in America. That's incredible. But wouldn't that be amazing if we did do that?
Kim McIntireThat's incredible.
Seantell CoffeySo there's lots of reasons why that's happening.
Amber SampsonWell, I think desperation, humility, how many times do I think that flow could flow into a lot of things. Why don't we see God move more just in the spirit in our serv in our church services or in our in our own prayer time? Desperation and humility. I think I mean that's I feel like that's something the Lord's really been speaking speaking to me is just to be desperate for Him. Yeah. He's gonna show up when you're desperate for Him, whether whether it's healing or you just want to move of God in your life, or the mountain needs to move. I mean, there's something to be said about desperation and humility. Yeah, it's such a good word.
Kim McIntireWell, I believe that that would be a good place for us to pause and we will pick up this conversation in our next episode. But before we close, uh I feel it would be really beneficial for our listeners, Seantell, if you would just pray over them specifically in regard to this topic of healing.
Prayer Over Listeners And Closing
Seantell CoffeyI would love that. So, Father, we come into your presence right now and we're so grateful that you hear us, that you want to be in relationship with us, that you desire us. Man, you have made a way for us to be close with you, Lord. And I just praise you for that. Father, I know that people are listening today with so many questions, concern, heartache, frustration, God, sickness, it steals a lot from a person, relationship, money, time, identity, friendship. God, would you come in like a flood with these people? Yes, Lord. Would they cry out to you? Would they cry out to you from the depths of their heart and say, Lord, show me how to know you? Show me how to get well, show me, Lord, what I am not seeing. And Lord, would you give them the faith and the trust to walk with you every step of the way? Would you bring peace into their situation? Would you stop the chaos? And would you help them to quiet and rest in you and your love? God, we love you and we trust you, and we know that you have good for us. And so, Father God, I pray blessing in the name of Jesus over every person listening today. In your mighty name we pray.
