Hello. Hi. I miss the typical greeting we do all the time. Why is that, Mons? I don't know. I think we're missing someone. Someone who has fled the country to gallop around Europe, it feels. Yeah, she's living her fabulous life right now. I feel like she's prepping to start in the upcoming reality season three of The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives featuring Covey in Europe. That would be amazing if she did that. do that. It'll be great because we'll go and see Shalini Pasi. Can you imagine Kavi and Shalini Pasi hanging out? Yeah, I think so. I wonder if she'll touch her skin like butter and come back and tell us like it's butter. Yeah, but we're gonna miss her for this week. This week is gonna be just the two of us. Hopefully people enjoy this episode.

So

SPEAKER_02

So what have you been doing this week? So what's funny is you're actually 10 feet away from me right now because I'm back in D.C. Yes, yes, you are back in D.C. and I am like about 10 feet away from you. Except you did kick me out from the first floor and sent me upstairs. So there's that. But I am off to New York for a few days. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't been back in about five or six years now. Oh, wow. Great for all the food and definitely going to recreate the Shah Rukh Khan scene from Galhona Hole because go that movie. I love it. Brooklyn Bridge, here I come. All right. Well, I hope you do that and send us lots of snaps and pictures of you doing that particular shot. I will. I will. What are you up to? I just got back from Jersey. I'll be going back again this weekend. So it'll just be a lot more family time for me right now. So that's all I'll be doing. Not much else going Yeah, summer. Summer is that to just catch up and be around family. And it's been so crazy with the news lately, right? Like with everything going on and just a lot of chaos, I think. I mean, I think we all know the Air India flight crash that just happened, unfortunately. I know. Do you know like what the issue was or like what actually happened with that? I still don't know. I just know that it took off and within 30 seconds in Ahmedabad, it crashed right after taking off. And it was on the way to London and the former CM who's what's chief minister. So the former chief minister of Gujarat was on that flight as well. So not only it was over 250 people, but there were a lot of, you know, well-known folks with very heart-wrenching stories coming out. And I don't know, stories like that always just really make me sad. But yeah. Yeah, that was a sad, sad incident. Another shocking story is that Sanjay Kapoor, did you hear what happened with him? That's Karishma's ex-husband. Yes, they were married for like over a decade. They have two children together. Yeah. Yeah. So he was playing polo, I think, in England somewhere. And he was in a polo match. And in that polo match, a bee flew into his mouth and he started choking. And then people were saying, oh, that they heard him say, oh, something went inside my mouth. And within minutes, he had a heart attack and passed away. Right there. I know. Like, I know you said shocking. And that's exactly what it was. Because, I mean, he's still relevant in the Bollywood community. And because not only is a successful businessman, but like you said, married to Karishma Kapoor, but now remarried. And he's also, I didn't know this, good friends with the royal family as well. Prince William. I think that's who he is. That's one of his friends. Because that's what I was hearing at the local news that Prince William's friend that passed away. Right. it showed it was showing Karishma going for the funeral I think to the house and then it showed like other celebrities like giving her support and stuff like that but they didn't have like the greatest marriage I think it was no no I think the divorce they say was amicable but like afterwards she like Karishma filed I think filed a case against him for domestic violence and like other things came out came up from their marriage too where he didn't treat her well and things like that so I wonder how like how she's feeling right now with like everything I know. I'm sure it's a mixture of complex emotions all over because, you know, relationships are complicated and then death and grief is complicated and then combined, it's just, I feel for her and I definitely feel for the two kids. I hope they, you know, work through this. Yeah, I hope so. And speaking of, I know we're kind of on a tragic update of updates in this episode, but it was actually the 50th death anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput this month, I think June 14th. So of course, a few other interviews with Ankita Lokhande and Rhea Chakraborty, they're kind of resurfacing right around this time. So yeah, I think that event itself, that incident five years ago, definitely kickstarted that nepotism focus and battle and everything that came right after that, right? did start off the nepotism part of it because I think it was during COVID this happened. June 2020, yeah. And he was a rising star. And the fact that they were calling it suicide, but they couldn't find anything. And his family was like, it can't be suicide. It doesn't make any sense. But what is interesting is that recently I found this reel that showed that Sushant was replaced in multiple movies. Like he was replaced in the movie... Half Girlfriend by Arjun Kapoor. Apparently, Sushant was supposed to do that. I swear that movie would have been so much better if it was Sushant. It's so funny. I was thinking the same thing. And the same thing with Befikre. Apparently, Sushant was supposed to be in it and Ranveer got that one. Likewise, I think it would have been much more natural and believable if Sushant was there. Not saying that I don't like Ranveer, but Ranveer being in that movie just made it very comical And that's why maybe it flopped. And I feel like maybe if Sushant was there, it would have added some seriousness to that rom-com. I didn't see that one. Another one was apparently he was supposed to do Fitur. That was with Aditya Roy Kapoor. I didn't see that movie either. Nor did I see Befikre. So I'm not sure about those movies. Did you see Fitur? I did not see Fitur. Is that the movie where Katrina had red hair? I don't know. I don't watch Katrina movies. You know that. Well, I knew that. But imagine I didn't watch it even though she was in it. Like it must have been that bad. But yeah, he just had such a, I don't know, sweet face for him. And I just like liked him in all the movies. Yeah. And I was shocked that there were so many movies that he was replaced for. So it makes me sad that he didn't get to live out his true potential and got placed on so many of these movies because of like connections. And basically all of this is nepotism that I'm looking at, like somehow, some way with nepotism. So he didn't make it. I feel bad. Well, with all of the heavy news, I have a fun segue for an update. Did you catch Shilpa Shetty's latest clip that she made news for? No, I did not. What is it? So supposedly it was her 50th birthday and she was in Croatia and her husband had reserved this restaurant for over a year, but she was caught yelling and just causing a ruckus talking to like a 25-year-old hostess at a restaurant because they didn't have the table ready or the reservation ready. So she was definitely like, do you know who I am type vibes? And just, ew, ugly. Oh, jinx. Like, I just find that type of behavior so unattractive. It is so unattractive. I didn't see the video, but like, why would you do something like that? Why do you think you're privileged to behave that way? Why do you think that you have the right to behave with someone like that. Not only that, she came with her whole family. So she was like making a scene in front of them, in front of everyone. And after she got mocked and told, her husband had to post a story clarifying like, oh, actually, we had waited so long to reserve and blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, stop it. There's no recovery with that couple, actually. No, there is not. Wasn't he like in some type of scandal a couple of years ago? Yeah, like a pornography scandal. Oh my God. And she stuck by him throughout the whole thing. So, you know, some cringe couples just work together. Some cringe couples do work together. Ew. I haven't watched any Bollywood movies lately, but I'm kind of excited about some of the releases that are coming out. I know. I think the summer is really bringing back the like fresh romance, comedy, light movies. And I am so ready. Yes. You know, like our 90s movies that we like we always talk about romance. We're like kind of missing that. And then like we talked about how like YRF doesn't do those type of movies anymore. But I think they somehow heard the universe heard it and now This whole summer, I think they'd have like multiple releases, different releases of like romance movies that we kind of like enjoy watching. Do you have a list ready? Yeah. So number one on the list is what I think one of your favorites is going to be Metro Indino. Yep, yep. We talked about it. I'm so excited. Yeah, that's coming out July 4th. Have you heard any of the latest audio tracks? There's like two songs that I actually really like from Metro Indino. I actually haven't. I'm too stuck on this another upcoming movie Ako Ki Gustakia Hey, stop. I slightly care for it. I told you I'll take it for the team and bring on the review. Sure. That's the movie with Shanaia Kapoor and the other guy's name. I always forget his name. Vikrant Massey? Yeah, Vikrant Massey. Which one? No, Vikrant Massey. That's coming out July 11th. I just heard a song by, actually, Today. And it's okay. I still love Sayadaw. I think Sayadaw has just gotten so much. They're killing it. YRF is killing it with the marketing for that movie. I think so. And I really like Ahan Pandey, I think his name is. Yeah, Ahan Pandey, in his scenes that I've seen of him so far, he's done better than any of the other Nepo boy kids that have come out. I think he's just done a really good job with whatever I've seen of him so far. Another one, Param Sundari. I don't know who's excited about this one. This is coming on July 25th. And if you don't know who Param Sundari is supposed to be in, it's our guy Siddharth Malhotra is going to be in it. And then John V. Kapoor as the female lead. You know what I'm about to say? I swear he signed up to do this movie because he needed baby money. Because why in the world would he star in a movie with John V. Kapoor right now? He's kind of in the up of his career. I think everyone is doing movies with her, though. You're shocked. Varun Dhawan did a movie with her. Rajkumar Rao he's also he's also saying yes to anything and everything for the baby money but so he and also she did a movie with the South actor and I forgot I forgot his name oh NTR it was NTR that she did the movie with she's in a lot of stuff so like and they're trying to call it like compare this Baram Sundari to like Janai Express and I'm like don't do that like let's not try to compare not two states no people are comparing it to Janai Express I mean that's what I've been seeing and I'm like calling it out. Like, don't do that. Don't compare it. Like, you can't compare Deepika and Shah Rukh with, like, Siddharth. As much as I like you, Siddharth, I don't think I'd compare you to Shah Rukh Khan and, you know. And I wouldn't compare Deepika to John V or John V to Deepika at all. Baram Sundari's title track came out and I think, Ridge, you've heard it and you actually really liked it. You know, initially when the movie came out, trailer, I was like, wait, I like that item song that Kurthi did back in the day. But the album for this movie, Baram Sundari, is taking me back to the like Bombay, Roja, like A.R. Rahman's best 90s time. It does sound like that. So that song was actually pretty good. So we'll see where that movie goes. And last but not least, the last movie that's coming out is Dharak 2 on August 1st. And who's starring in Dharak 2? Siddhant Chattopadhyay and Tripti Dimri. Oh, that's exciting. Well, that sounds like a great list coming up months with all the movies I'm excited about July I think I'm very excited about July I will definitely most likely watch Sayadaw I don't think I'll watch anything else until it comes on OTT but I will definitely be there for that and then not a romance movie is War 2 coming out August 14th I will be watching that one in the theaters and I'll be sitting right by you for that and so yes yes yes yes yes Speaking of good summer movies and just like not having the greatest weekend. We talked about some heavy, heavy things in the beginning. Yes, like where are some feel-good movies that you're re-watching because they just make you feel good at the moment. You just need something to like uplift your spirit and make you happy. I am so glad you asked because I am definitely doing that a lot in the last couple of weeks. You know those movies that you just hit play, it plays in the background you find so much comfort in it you know the lyrics you know the songs you know what happens next so there's always that comfort and connection that you have with some of those movies and I know recently we asked our you know listeners for some of their feedback and I was just so happy because some of the movies that they shared I'm like hey that's mine too and do you want me to start one off, Mons? Yes, yes. Give me your feel-good movie. And I feel like you will agree with this one too, but it's Ye Jovani He Diwani. Yes, I agree on that movie. That's such a good movie just to put on. Again, like what you said in the beginning, it's a movie that you already know the song lyrics to. You already know like some of the dialogues. You know what's going to happen. Are we happy with the ending? Maybe some of us aren't, but it's still a fun movie to watch. It's just like wholesome and entertaining. Not only like Are we happy with the ending? I love hating on that movie sometimes with my friends and dissect all the red flags of Bunny and what was she wearing? Why did, you know, all the memes and things that joke around. So I love doing that. But do I still play that as one of my first to-go's? Yes. And just shout out to Arthi for sending that movie in. We definitely agree. What's on your list, Munz? On my list, one of my go-to movies to watch, even though I know we did an entire breakdown of this movie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is such a fun, feel-good movie to watch for me. It's just like, again, you can hate on it and talk about how silly it is, some of these things, but you still like watching it. You just put it in the background and just watch it. I like watching it. The songs are fun. Again, one of my favorite couples to watch together is Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. And that's one of my movies that I love. watching them together it's just so good to watch them golden couple you know that if they star in something together it's guaranteed happily ever after I think so maybe that's why we like love watching them as a comfort probably and I just like the way they look together I don't know what it is maybe my 90s kids just loves seeing them together so if they come back and do another movie like now I'd absolutely go watch it again it might not be good but I'll still watch it what's another one on your list so this one just recent edition, post-2010, but I love Zindagi na Meleki Dubara. It's not only for the hot actors and, oh, Fritik, come on now, but it's also that magic Iktakapur has with the cinematography and the character development and that lifestyle. It's kind of like, hey, I want to be that, but I can also do that my way. I can go to Spain on a three-week adventure And yeah, I did show up in Costa Brava like Zendikinamele Getobara a couple of years ago. So I don't know. I just, there's comfort and fantasy like movie telling and storytelling in that Zoya hairstyle. You're right. She absolutely, that's such a good movie to rewatch. I wouldn't call all of them hot. I would just call one person hot in that. Who's not hot? I don't know. I don't think I'd consider Abedelo hot, really. Hey, he's a good actor. His personality makes him hot in that movie. I, yeah, I mean, maybe, I don't know. He's a good actor. I've said that before. Like out of the Daewoo clan, he's like the better of the actor, but didn't make enough name for himself. So talking about these movies, what makes a movie feel good to you? I think for number one, for me, has to be a happy ending. Like I can't do like sad movies and things like that. It has to be a happy ending for me. So like, that's that. Does it always have to be Romeo? romantic or just in general happy? I think Bollywood movies, I don't know if there's non-romantic movies with happy endings. Yeah, I feel like they're all romantic. I don't know what I could think of that doesn't have romance in it. But yeah, for me, that and I have to like the actor and the actresses. Like I can't not like, like I'm not a big fan of like Varun Dhawan. So like I wouldn't watch any of his movies and be like, oh, that's a feel good movie for me. Even if it's like romance and happy ending. And like, just like have good songs as well. I think another movie that part of that that fits me and i know you probably wouldn't like it is uh and me and kavi love this movie you have like a really big spot for the salman khan and karishma pairing like i do i do i do because like multiple movies on my list are of them two together because it's such i know that movie particular movie is really fun it's a fun movie their acting is funny like their their chemistry works really Salman Khan looks good and so does Karishma, right? They're good looking people. Did you ever watch that movie? I think I did, but I actually remember none of the storylines for any of the Salman Karishma movies because I think they were just so light and floofy to me that I don't really remember what made them unique. I feel the same way about Govinda movies too. Light and floofy? Floofy! of Lucy okay I got it so what what are some things that I know you saw there in the beginning like what makes it um feel good for you but is there anything else that makes resonates with you as a feel-good movie so I will do something different there's a movie that has been on my feel-good list forever and I identified with that character as like a stereotypical like Bollywood chick who's like oh that's me and I know now I don't agree with it like I I find that role very annoying. So now I have a new movie, but the first one is Job We Met. When it came out, 2007, I'm like, Geet, I am Geet. I think forever I wore those baggy trousers with the tight fitted t-shirt because again, I am Geet. I'm my favorite. I was obsessed with that movie. I was obsessed with their hyper annoying character at that time. Maybe because I resonated with myself. That movie was a very feel-good movie to me. I think still to this day, if you were to play it, I would watch it with fond memories. That is actually a movie that I have on my list too, Jab We Met. It's a fun movie. I don't feel so lonely anymore. Thanks, man. I don't think I relate to Geet at all. You definitely don't. No, I don't. But I felt like the movie was really... like fun to watch like her character was really fun and recently I saw like I think Ananya Pandey was talking about like why she loves Karina and like why she loves that particular movie of Karina and she says an interesting part it's like when she goes back and meets her boyfriend Ayushman I think his name is when she meets him Anshuman there you go when she meets him when she sees him and you don't hear the conversation between them but her facial expression from being so excited to see him to drastically changing. We could see the heartbreak on her face in that four or five seconds. I think every girl probably felt that similar devastation slash breakup once in her lifetime. Kind of that look in that four or five seconds. It was greatly captured. And she did such a good job in the beginning being this happy-go-lucky and all of a sudden becoming this completely different person. So she did such a good job. So it is one of my favorite movies to re-watch. That's a good one. Yeah. Another one of mine. I'm not sure how many people are going to like it because I've also given crap about this movie too. But again, I give crap about it, but I like watching them. Mae Hoonah. I feel like that movie would have been 10 times better if Zayed Khan, and I've said it before, if Zayed Khan and Amrita Arora, I think her last name is. Amrita Rao. Amrita Rao was not in that movie. They were both just really bad. But she... Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen were so good in that movie. I love watching their back and forth play. Shah Rukh Khan's acting with her was just so funny. And her reaction. I like watching that movie. Again, another feel-good movie. Just put it on the background. I don't need much. I just need to hear the music. Also have great music in that album. And like looking at Sushmita and Shah Rukh. And some fun dialogues too. And funny comedic characters in the university scene. And nothing beats that like that beat that they play in between scenes it's just oof yes love it music I know we're never gonna end with the list of movies that we have that make us you know give us yes endless feel good movies but let's see what you think about some of these ones that I'll just throw out alright I'm gonna give you a movie and you're gonna tell me either you're gonna rewatch or you're gonna skip it sounds good rewatch let me give you one I would skip that I would never watch it what it's it's classic okay how about this Rocky or Ronnie I know the answer oh hand down re-watch multiple times. See? Dostana. Skip. Really? I would watch Dostana. Priyanka Chopra is annoying to me now. That's true. You're right. I could see that. And Abhishek Bachchan. Wow, that's a whammy double. I forgot Abhishek was in that movie. I was just picturing John Abraham. I forgot. You're watching it for the different reasons, okay? I'm watching it for John Abraham. That's it. That's all I'm watching it for. Alright, Ban Bajabara. Oh, I'd watch that one over again. It has some good songs. Me too. And it was a It was. Oh, no. None of them. No, no. Cancel all of them. All of them. There's only two. Favorite. Ew, never. I want to unwatch it. Can I do that? You went and watched it in the theaters. No, I didn't. I didn't watch it in theaters. I watched it on Netflix. Humptum.

SPEAKER_03

Rewatch.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Humptum is a good one to rewatch, actually. It's a good one. It's kind of sad in the middle of it, but, like, it's still a good movie to watch. Wake Up Six. I don't know if it would be a feel-good movie for me. I maybe potentially watch it with other people, but like, it wouldn't be like, I wouldn't go for it. It has a happy ending. It does, but like, I don't love the movie that much. It's a great movie to watch, but I don't think I'd re-watch. Bang Bang? I don't think I've even watched it the first time. Wow. Wow, that's your girl Katrina. That's kind of sad. And my guy Hrithik. Okay, that's not your guy. My guy Hrithik. That's why I watched it, because it's my guy. Queen. I mean, it's a good movie, but I don't I don't think I'd watch it again. I kind of find it boring. I think I've watched it three, four times. I don't think I'll watch it a fifth time again. I mean, there's plenty of movies, months that I've watched many times. But Queen is one of them. I mean, it's a good, again, it's a good movie. I just don't think I'd watch it that many times. Blind items time. Okay, usually Kavi leads this part. She's so good at it. But today we're going to give it a shot because, you know, she's gallivanting Europe. All right, I'm going to read it. And Ridge, you tell me what you think, who you think is going to be. You know I'm not going to know. Okay. This superstar, notorious for his womanizing ways, has managed to dodge public exposure during various women's rights movements by reportedly paying crores to silence women he exploited, often in exchange for acting rights. Recently, he was sent into a frenzy when a fading actress and former co-star made a subtle point remarked in media interview, hinting at how he was all over her during a shoot of a mega-budget comedy. His PR team has since been working overtime, scrambling to contain the fallout. Can you guess who that is? Ooh, is it Akshay Kumar? I don't know. With the houseful stuff, or one of the houseful actors. I think recently I heard something about it, and the commenter saying that it's Akshay and Malaika. That's the only two comments. Malaika? Malaika Sharawat. Not Malaika Aurora, Malaika Khan, whatever her last name was. Wait, what movie then? Because not Houseful. I guess, let me check what movie they did together. Recently, they've been, I know Akshay's been doing a lot of PR, but that's for the movie Houseful 5. Yeah, but like, I think someone came out and was talking about it. And I think Malaika did come out This Hindi producer-director who heads a powerful studio also runs a talent agency where he mentors a select few star kids, though unfortunately not all under his wing receive the same attention. I feel like I can guess this right now, but let me finish. Recently, for the sequel of a comedy hit where the protagonist played both a hero and a girl, he leveraged his influence to persuade the film's lady producer to cast one of his favorite talents as the lead heroine. This move resulted in the instant replacement of another female actor who had already been locked in for the role and was far more deserving, not to mention a better actor. Who is it? And did someone stick John V. Kapoor in a movie? I mean, I don't know about the second part of it, but I think the first part has to be Karan Johar, right? It has to. I mean, a Hindi producer, director with a studio and has mentors, star kids, like he's prime one. Yeah, he's that. Second part i'm unclear about because i don't know what comedy movie i'm not sure like which actress he helped to get that because i don't i mean i would say alia but like alia hasn't done a comedy movie no so comments say dream girl 2 remember dream girl came out and it was ayushman karana and um what's it wasn't nushrat yeah i think i'm butchering her last name but she was in it and i saw an interview of her recently where she was talking about a movie where she got recently replaced and how you know everyone in that movie stayed the same just her as the lead actress is not there because someone joined and of course she didn't name names but you know you get the gist so that's what the comments are saying and Nusrat is such a better actress though like it's kind of it's kind of sad they took her out and put like Ananya in it you know like I'm not a huge fan of her and I'm hopefully Ananya grows but like Nusrat is such a better actress though like in just in so many senses Right. And she is someone who appears to be hardworking. And like all the movies that she has worked on, it didn't necessarily all become hits or really big name, but she worked hard and she's a good actress. I agree. I do think so. All right. Those are the blinds for this week. All right, vow time. And this week, I will kick us off because I'm ready. Yes, let's hear it. Okay, so my song for the week is Bintere, but the reprise version from the movie I Hate Love Stories.

UNKNOWN

Bintere, Bintere, Bintere.

SPEAKER_01

I

SPEAKER_02

know, super throwback and definitely not necessarily one of my favorite movies. Sonam Kapoor is in it, so I shouldn't say much more. And Imran Khan is in it. But the song itself is very beautiful by Vishal shaker um and shaker is singing it oh nice i don't remember the song i barely remember the movie i don't know if i liked her now but i like imran khan's i always try to give his movies a shot because i don't know something soft spot about him like i'll watch him yeah he does a lot of those stuff so yeah what about humans all right for me it's a new song um called turbo so it's um um RFB and Velo Soundstation. So I've given a couple of songs from Velo Soundstation and this is a new one by Atif Aslam. I love Atif Aslam. His voice is so powerful. Yes. And is it just kind of different sounding? It's not his like romantic sounding ones. A little bit more like, I don't know, like hip hop-y, kind of like more like urban. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's a fun song. I think you'll like it. I can't wait to check it out. All right, guys. This is it for this week. Our mini- without Kavita we did it just the two of us let us know what you guys think like, share, follow

SPEAKER_00

bye

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, I can't speak. What? I know. So many words. So many letters. All jumbled up together. I know. It feels like... Hey, is your door closed? Yes. Oh, okay. I hear you again. Well, sorry. Lower your voice. Damn, my own house. Get better insulation. I gave you the better background.
