Slow Jam Nature Sounds

John Muthuri Season 1 Episode 23

The setting for this episode recording is Isiolo County in Kenya, located north-east of Mount Kenya. Isiolo County is actually the center-most part of the country.

The semi-desert environment has its own unique nature sounds and attractions. The recording starts mid-afternoon in a sparsely wooded dry-seasonal-river bed with scattered human settlement.

The birds are back to their roosts sheltering from the intense afternoon sunshine and heat.

Some birds sing the rhythms while others contribute to punctuating lullabies; a slow afternoon jam that can easily induce one into succumbing to the proverbial forty winks.

Other birds join in with bass, others with percussions and tambourines to compliment to the dynamic orchestra sequences. A flock of birds seem to laugh off a little dog's barking in response to their intense cadence.

The recording ends with a clip from a forest where active cicadas and forest birds join in with a venerable climax.
