White Noise: Night Rain Symphony

During the long rains season in Kenya, the night sky gathers heavy clouds and the land settles into a quiet anticipation.

This immersive one-hour and seven minutes recording captures the living rhythm of a tropical rainstorm unfolding after dark. 

What begins as gentle showers soon grows into a powerful downpour, the rain drums steadily across the landscape.

The intensity rises and falls like a natural orchestra - sometimes roaring with force, sometimes softening into a delicate whisper.

At moments, the rain nearly fades away, leaving a hushed stillness in the night air. Then from afar, a deep thunderclap rolls across the sky, announcing the arrival of another wave.

Lightning briefly illuminates the cloud-filled heavens before the darkness returns, and the rain resumes its hypnotic cadence.

For hours the storm breathes, modulating in rhythm and tone. It is both powerful and peaceful, a meditation written in water and thunder, and lightning.

This episode invites you to relax, reflect, meditate, study or drift into sleep while listening to the timeless music of rain during Kenya's long rains season.

Poem: Rain Over the Sleeping Land

Night gathers clouds in silent might,

A darkened canopy veils the light.

Then softly first the raindrops fall,

A silver whisper over all.

The storm then finds its deeper voice, 

A rolling rhythm without a choice.

Thunder speaks across the sky,

Lightning briefly flashes by.

The rain retreats to gentler streams,

Like distant echoes of quiet dreams.

Yet soon again the heavens pour,

A swelling tide, a drumming roar.

Through hours the living waters sing,

A calm the restless night can bring.

Until the storm, both fierce and wise,

Leaves peace beneath the clearing skies.
