Brittany:Today's podcast is Ladies Behind Fearlessly Female, and why Are we Uncensored?
Meghan:So a little introduction to us. We are ex-Californians, we are grad graduates and we have wine filled systems. Why should you listen to us?
Brittany:So I think we should probably give them a little background. What do you think?
Meghan:Yeah, I think you're right. So see, what had happened was we were chilling in a pool. Brittany, why don't you tell us about your Latinx husband and why this all came about?
Brittany:So my Latinx here decided that we should have a podcast and it really just kind of unfolded just like that. We like to call him our idea incubator. So he just kind of spitballs all these random ideas and one of them eventually just kind of sticks and we just roll with it and keep going.
Meghan:You think it was a little bit longer than that, but it wasn't. We're both entrepreneurs at heart and I find Brittany's energy infectious, so we made it happen. Let's talk a little bit about us, our friendship, and maybe a little bit about our background and get into why they should be listening to us. So we met in grad school, but, brittany, the details are a bit fuzzy for me. Do you remember how we became friends?
Brittany:I think it started not to quote George Strait here, but when you passed me a note in class and it was like oh yeah, I want to be your friend or you're going to be my friend. You know, check yes or no, but no was not an option. So I tend to make a lot of my friends that way. I tend to be introverted and these extroverts just kind of latch on.
Meghan:It's like you over there, we're going to be friends, you're mine now that sounds pretty much like me, but it's been incredible to think about us in grad school versus where we're at now starting this podcast together and really just getting a deeper bond that's developed through the crazy life situations that we've both gone through. Crazy can maybe break you apart, but I think for us it bonded us.
Brittany:Oh yeah, definitely, and also to the Anais Follies when you kind of recruited me for that too. That was fun and definitely a unique experience, never a dull moment.
Meghan:I think we probably need to explain Anais Follies for our listeners. So I run a drinking club. Yes, it is a drinking club. It is not a book club. I'm not, you know, sugarcoating something. It is absolutely a drinking club called Anna's Follies. It's French for the crazy years. It's a reference to the 1920s and prohibition, but when I started it in 2020, it was kind of a happy accident of the crazy years, so it worked out. But Brittany joined Anna's Follies and really keeping that 1920s spirit alive had to do some smuggling of alcohol across state lines for me, so we definitely grew close through that as well.
Brittany:Oh my gosh, so much fun. How about do you want to give them a little bit about your background and maybe kind of what you do Like during your day job?
Meghan:Yeah for sure. So I work in human resources. I'm very passionate about career development. I've been in the utility industry a male-dominated industry, though which industry is not and it's a very risk-averse environment. So, exactly opposite of being an entrepreneur and launching a podcast, it's been a great career, and these stories are going to come out through this podcast the good, the bad, the ugly that I want to be able to share for you. For me, personally, I would say I thrive on experiences. Brittany says I'm an independent woman who bought my own house and I'm running my own ship. Um, but really, for me, what I want to share and bring to this podcast is I've tripped and fell so many times along my journey and I just want to pass along those mistakes so that others can learn from them and not make the same ones. How about you, brittany? What are your baseball card stats, as you like to call it?
Brittany:My background's in finance, so it's a heavily similar to you, a heavily dominated bro culture. So a lot of dudes, a lot of guys named Mike I mean, throw out Mike. Someone's going to answer Accounting, you know.
Meghan:I never met a bad Mike. I never met a bad Mike. There's a bad, like John's, maybe Chris's, but not a bad Mike. Don't get me started on John.
Brittany:But yeah, so it's just, it's been an interesting journey and you know I kind of pivoted a little bit away from you know, maybe climbing the corporate ladder into more of an entrepreneurial kind of mindset. I guess I'm really into investing in my personal life and, same thing with you, I've tripped and fell, made mistakes, lost a lot of money, but it's kind of what you learn along the way and it's the stuff they don't necessarily teach you in school or kind of the real world application of it that I kind of want to just, you know, share with other people. I came from like a very like modest background, risk adverse. You know you grow up, go to school, get a job, you stay there and you retire, get your pension, and you know kind of just be happy with your life. And I completely just took the opposite approach and you know I'm sure it probably scared my parents a lot, thinking like this girl is crazy, but it's been a wild ride and I guess you only get one life to live, so got to make it interesting.
Meghan:When I think of having a mentor, it's usually someone that's older than me and I know it's hard to believe but I am older than Brittany but she's absolutely my mentor, like just so driven, and definitely someone I look to for advice. So everything she said I absolutely back up. Oh, that's sweet, Thank you. Just a little bit of a happy moment, but we're mostly going to be joshing each other. So what should our listeners expect from Fearlessly Female?
Brittany:Well, I would say definitely unlicensed therapy without the $200. So you're welcome, tune in and get your favorite drink with you, and you don't have to send that in for claims for reimbursement.
Meghan:I think that would be awesome if we could just like put that as our mission statement, though we did really come up with something great. So, really, our vision is for the world to embrace women living unapologetically, and our vision is to create a network of women that empowers them to lean into their femininity, embrace their unique gifts and skill sets, to live through life their true, authentic selves unapologetically and lift other women up. But, quite frankly, brittany said it unlicensed therapy without the $200, pretty simple.
Brittany:Oh my gosh. I think we touched on a little bit earlier on how we're going to do it, so I think we'll probably just expand our experiences in the later episodes of just not conforming with normal things women tend to put up with whether it's in relationships, work environments, traditional standards of having to come home, cook clean for your husband. I don't do any of that, not that I can't I, just I'm better at running other parts of our life. So we've kind of divvied up our strengths and weaknesses accordingly.
Meghan:Well, I think, really diving into that right I feel like I do some more of those like traditional norms for women, but talking about that and what it looks like and just really diving into those experiences and how we had those conversations- yeah, I think we'll probably touch on.
Brittany:You know, like some some fun stuff, some business stuff, some personal stuff, Probably some bad stuff.
Meghan:That way y'all can learn.
Brittany:You get the real uncensored version.
Meghan:Yeah, A bit of everything to encourage you every week. So close out Brittany. How should they get a hold of us? Stay involved, talk with us, and when should they expect the next shit show?
Brittany:All right. Well, don't worry, we have an email address for all the Karens, so if you want to email us, please, we want to hear from you. Our email address is fearlesslyfemaleuncensored at gmailcom, and then we'll also link our TikTok and our Instagram, too, as a little pop-up Awesome.
Meghan:I have met some nice Karens, so I feel bad for the Karens out there that aren't tagged with that, but we really want to evolve this podcast. We'd love your input. We're looking to have guest speakers as well, but what you need to hear about and what you're struggling with, we've, between the two of us, probably tackled it. So send it our way and we'll look at trying to share our experiences and how we were able to get past it. Thank you for joining our first podcast and intro about who is fearlessly female and why you should listen.
