welcome to Mystic Mom, where we dive into the extraordinary spiritual bond between parent and child. I'm your host, krystie Izzo, and today's episode is all about spiritually protecting your intuitive child.
Do you ever feel like your child might be psychic or spiritually gifted? Some signs that you may have an intuitive child are they are deeply feeling the big feelings kids, they have vivid dreams and maybe frequent night terrors. They also seem to be able to pick up on energies of people being either immediately drawn to some while shying away from others for no obvious reason, they are imaginative and creative. They may even see things like loved ones that have passed on, or imaginary friends. We hear this all the time, where a child knows about a grandparent that passed or they may seem to know things that they can't possibly know from this lifetime, those strange, unexplainable experiences that can only really come from spirit. Children naturally are more connected to spirit than most adults. This could be for a number of reasons, but some theories include that children are born with an innate spiritual connection and an intuitive knowing. Others believe it's because their souls just recently came into this lifetime. So may have a connection and memories of the other side or even past lives. I remember as a child knowing things about time period that was impossible for me to know at the time. I've also seen it with my own children. At three years old, my daughter started using the phrase Mano Po, and when I asked her about it. She said it was what you say to parents and grandparents. Now I had no idea what this phrase meant. I thought maybe she made it up. And then when I Googled it, it turns out that Mano PO is a Filipino term used to show respect to elders. Now no one in my family speaks Filipino. It felt like the most random thing when she was saying this, but when she kept on with it, we really realized that this was validated in a way, that this could have been from a past life, or something of that sort. It was also around this time that she shared about an imaginary friend called Dan Joe, who lived in a small city in South America who drove a red car and lived with his grandma. Remember, this was at three years old. How she even knew what South America was is beyond me. She would describe the city, and she would give it so much detail at school, she would include danjo in family pictures, and she would also tell her teachers about it, where her school actually thought that we had a cousin living with us named donjo, and would ask us about him. Now, I'm not gonna lie, when this first happened, I got totally spooked. I felt concerned and worried, and I didn't know what to do, but I didn't want to scare her or overreact, so I didn't blow it off, and I came from a more curious place and questioned her on it by not reacting and asking questions, I was able to discern what felt spiritually safe and what didn't. Often, those of us with strong intuitions and who are strongly connected to spirit have children with similar gifts. If you come from a family of psychics, witches, mediums and other gifted individuals, your child may be similar, so we want to acknowledge it and guide them through with us, and not just say that's not real or assume it's just their imagination. Now, when things didn't feel spiritually safe, for example, night terrors has always been frequent with both my children. They would have bad dreams that sometimes were past life memories or really graphic in ways that felt concerning. I would then do my same spiritual protection tricks that I use for myself with them. Here's a few that has worked with myself that I also use with my kids. First off, I would cleanse the space with sage. If you've never cleansed with sage, here is the process. You start with opening the door and window to the room. I always start at one side of the window, so I end at the window. The purpose is to cleanse and guide the negative energy out of the space. So I burnt sage start on one side of the window and go in a circle around the room, letting the smoke cleanse the energy while praying. Spend a little extra time near corners, closets and mirrors, then end the process by the open window or door to your home.
So it guides the energy out during your cleansing you want to pray or speak with the intention of something along the lines of, I cleanse the space of anything negative or dark, only what is in the best interest of my family is permitted to stay. You could say your own version, but the most important part is to acknowledge it and ask it to leave. This can also look like I feel you here and ask you to leave. I've also added a few drops of sage oil to my daughter's stuffed animals that they sleep with as an extra precaution. Cleansing the space is a first step, and then you utilize ways to keep the negative energy out. White Candles are always my go to having a white candle burning attracts positive energy and repels negative. I only light candles when kids are out of the house to avoid any danger. So when your kids are not there, open the window to their bedroom and light a white candle, get that good energy in. There. Others I know use Florida Water, which you could purchase on Amazon. It's a cologne that has spiritual healing properties. You could use it to make the sign of a cross on your child's forehead, or add a few drops to your bath or their bath. Others use holy water. Protective tools can be crystals, such as Amethyst near their bed. My kids call an amethyst Krystal that I have in their room, the magic stone that keeps monsters away. All of these spiritually protective measures that you use in your life can be applied or modified with your child no matter what you use. The most important thing is intention. Before bedtime, I visualize a safe, protective aura around my children's bedroom and say a prayer for them. There's nothing more protective than a mother's love. So visualize them having that protection even when you're not physically next to them. You could even do this when they start going to school or when you head to work. Set that protective intention to them. Our words, thoughts and actions all have power. I also find this very empowering as a mom to tap into that protective Mama Bear energy. We do it in the physical world all the time, but we can even do it spiritually as well, where we visualize ourselves as our child's protectors, and how we're able to visualize that aura or armor around them and give them that protection. And while some of this stuff may feel a little bit scary, we know from our own spiritual experiences, as long as we are grounded and we are protecting ourselves and cleansing spaces, and that these energies really cannot cause harm, and we could teach our children the same thing. So until next time love, heal and live, Mystic, Mom, you.
