Boy do we have a sad story for yall today.

Living in the mountains we have experience with feeling safe from natural disasters. But just last year Mother Nature showed us even we are not safe from her wrath.

And that was a hard lesson residents of Galveston learned in September of 1900. After a few decades of having storms pass them by the residents of this booming island city felt that they were safe from any that might come their way.

Add to that a political pissing match between the US and Cuban governments that brought communications to a halt, Galveston was terribly unprepared for the Cat 4 hurricane that was coming their way. And due to that, this city saw one of, if not the largest lost of life within the US. Thousands of lives were lost due to mans folly.
