We will be back in one week with our continuance of our look at the Crusades but this week we are going to look at an event that took place over a hundred years ago, but changed the way people did business forever.

At the turn of the century it was common to find sweatshops that employed hundreds of immigrants to make products; for little pay in terrible conditions.

At the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory they took things a step further and locked the doors leaving only one exit so that they could inspect bags as employees were leaving for the day.

And so, on March 25th 1911, over 400 workers found themselves in these conditions when a fire broke out on the 8th floor. With no fire alarms, smoke detectors, or sprinklers the employees were trapped high above the street with no way to escape.
