We are continuing our celebration of PRIDE month by looking at a time when the US government was so concerned about Communist infiltrating the government, they went after queer folks.
We can see a direct link between the actions taken by the government, and the way people view the queer community today. Lesbians and gay men were seen as a possible threat to national security and were fired for it.
Today we are still seen as immoral and a threat to the American way of life. McCarthy has a lot to do with that as his ideals from this time are still alive and well.
