Yes, this is our Thanksgiving episode, I don't know if you're listening to it on Thanksgiving, but if you are, merry fucking turkey day, alright? Yay! Eat some taters. And pie. Merry Thanksgiving, people. And stuff. Yes. What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish? Dressing. I love dressing. Wait. Dressing. No. Stuffing? I think that's what, yeah. I think some people call it stuffing. But we call it dressing. I think it's a black people thing. I was like, dressing like on the salad. I was debating. Should I just keep going and pretend like I knew what you're talking about? I love a combo of things, I like to take a bite of turkey with mashed potatoes with gravy on it. Yes. When I was little, nothing would touch, I would have to eat everything separately. Yeah. And I would watch my parents just mix everything together and be like, Oh, that's disgusting. And now. Yeah. So when I used to eat red meat, I used to love when my grandma made the ham with pineapple juice and pineapples. I used to tear that up. But I don't eat red meat anymore. So I just settle for the smoked turkey still delicious. It is so good. Oh my gosh. Last year, our friends giving, we got smoked turkey from the honey baked ham and we cooked everything ourselves other than the turkey. And it was so good. So yeah, it was, Oh my God, I forgot about that. I can't wait for friends. Well, I don't have a real Thanksgiving now that, my husband's a coach and he only gets Thanksgiving day off. So he can never go visit family. So friends giving is like, The replacement of that holiday for me because me and Weston will just go to like fucking Cracker Barrel. It's depressing. Yeah drink of the pod i'm having water in my Red Cup Starbucks I'm drinking water today. I'm really basic. I don't have juice. Cameron drank all the juice, so I'm stuck with water. We're 54 days away from Onyx Storm. It's getting closer, y'all. Countdown continues. Yes. I literally just saw a TikTok and it was this girl and she was like, what I'm going to be doing for the next nine weeks and some days. And it was just her reading, Fourth Wing and Iron Flame and her Fourth Wing blanket. Yes. I mean, accurate. I feel like a lot of us are there. We're, I keep seeing a lot of TikToks that are like about, they're starting their reread because It's almost that time. So listen to our podcast. Yes. So you can get prepared for Onyx Storm. So now it's time to cross the parapet while Kena gives us her shadow and select synopsis aka her unhinged summary detailing the events of these chapters. Thanks to Andarna's stopping time, Violet is able to escape near death. Zayden appears, chokes out all the little murderers with his shadows, inspects her wounds, and shows us all how well he knows his way around a corset. On the walk to the flight field, Violet is in immense pain. But, she Zayden like a tree. Same girl, same. Up on the fight field, a rather ballsy wing leader addresses Taryn directly and Violet figures out that this little quartet can all communicate mind to mind. Thanks, mating bond! We also learn here that feathertails can gift their powers directly to humans, which explains the whole time stopping shibbusiness. On the way back to the quadrant, Violet confides in Zayden about who unlocked her door while she was sleeping. We all collectively cheer as Oren Seifert's name is read off the death roll at Morning Formation. He will not be missed. Violet is assigned a tall blonde and handsome bodyguard, and Zayden takes to the dais to right a wrong. Despite the penalty for a false accusation against another wing leader being deaf, this man calls Amber Mavis to answer for her crimes. And of course, Dane wastes no time in calling Violet a liar, trying to look in her memories without her permission, and offending his ex lover. Thanks to the dragon's ability to share memories, everyone gets cold hard proof that Amber is a lying snake, an accomplice to murder, and breaker of the oh so sacred codex. Despite Violet begging for mercy, Amber is a liar. Torched by Taryn In the next chapter, Violet and her babysitter head to archives duty. While she still does object to Liam's general presence, she can't help but start to like the golden boy who has been the cause of way too many of our tears. And as the two get to know each other, a seamless friendship begins and Violet learns the cruel reality of life for the Marked Ones. On their way back, they accidentally get a sneak peek of a document intended for Professor Markham describing an attack on a village located on the southern border. Violet suddenly wants to eat an entire flock of sheep. Nope, that's Taryn. he's woken up and it's time for breakfast and he's flooding Violet with his hangriness. In Battle Brief later, Markham lies with ease about the frontlines being quiet and the plot thickens. During squad hand to hand practice, Violet lets her rage, AKA her mounting sexual frustration out on Rihanna, but they're both promptly distracted by the sight of two shirtless hotties. Getting it on. I mean sparring. I mean, I'd watch that tape. No better than a man. The girls continue ogling the wing leader and Garak before Liam tells them to stop objectifying them. When Viola is knocked on her ass, motherfucking jack butt faced Barlow uses the opportunity to provoke her, but violence controls her temper and picks up a key piece of information and unseen that will help her later. Casually brushing her hair later, Violet is struck with an overwhelming sense to bang someone. As Terran's power fills her body, she avoids the embarrassment of rubbing up against Liam, and flees with the raging tempest of utter horniness that can only come from mated dragons. Trying to get some fresh air, she finds the object of her desire, Zayden Ireson, smoking some churrum to mentally cock block Sagale. Violet tries to figure out whether Zayden is just that hot, or if it's Taryn's lust guiding her thoughts. The benevolent wing leader gives her a crash course on mental shields, which, for Violet, she finally takes first in something. Fortunately for us, our wing leader isn't as in control of his faculties as he thinks, and just as the two agree kissing would be a cataclysmic calamitous mistake, we are treated to our first bit of spice that rocks my fucking socks off. Until the honorable Zayden breaks it off at the clap of lightning, pausing the moment until they aren't so influenced by dragon boning. Fair. Violet fills Rhiannon in on the latest tea the next morning and Rhi shows off her new summoning skills, badass. On the way to Karr's wielding class, fuckin Father Dane, not Daddy Dane, we all know who the daddy is in this story, asks for a chat. The audacity of this man. Ugh, he's butt hurt that she wouldn't share her memories with him, to which Violet and I say, bitch excuse me? What makes you think you are entitled to my memories after your behavior lately? After an ultimatum is issued, Dane agrees to respect her request. For now. Finally in class, the worst professor in the world not only calls violence fragile, he also calls the loss of her brother's signet tragic, and applies more pressure on her to form a powerful signet. January swings around to Bazgayeth, and Jack Barlow has finally got his wish. He can challenge Violet. Once again, showing his true colors as a whiny little bitch with a fragile ego, Jack cheats not once, but twice, using his powers and throwing a dagger into her forearm. Violet comes close to the brink of death, but she uses her secret weapon, oranges. Recovering in the infirmary, Zayden informs Violet that her failure on the mat has prompted him to take over all areas of her training, and boy oh boy, this man is going to be very thorough in the way he handles her. Time continues to pass, and one particular day, Violet and Zayden run into Mean Mommy, Dane's father, and Commandant Panchak on the way up to the fight field. These idiots ask Violet for information on Andarna, if they can study her, and also if she knows where Papasaur and Gale's research is, and of course, Violet's lips are sealed to protect her baby dragon. Next chapter, it is time for the squad battle. With Imogen taking the lead, brilliant fucking Violet comes up with an idea to take the cake. Breaking into Mummy's office. Using all of their relevant signets in tandem, they succeed. In the General's office, Violet finds more evidence of frequent border attacks, conscription protests, and a funny looking dagger slash letter opener. After their high risk and high reward escapade, Violet presents an up to date Navarrean military map, while leadership tries to pick their jaws up off the floor, and Zayden bows his head in respect of her brilliant idea. The reward for winning the squad battle is a trip to the frontlines. During their tour around Montserrat, Mira and Violet share a touching moment as they are unexpectedly reunited. Later, Big Sis catches two sneaky little first years slicking out of a heavily fortified military position, and after a verbal ass whippin she joins them to visit Rhiannon's family. After enjoying a relaxing evening and Violet getting a much needed dose of Big Sister advice, Zayden appears in the shadows. Apparently, Taryn and Sigail can't go more than three days without boning. I'm so happy that we got to this part of the story because, when I was working at a certain bookstore, one of my coworkers was contemplating, reading Fourth Wing. And, me and one of my, managers was talking about it. We were talking about This part where Taryn and Sigil get it on and trying to block them off. He was like, wait, is it like dragon six? And he was like, I was like, it's just this one scene. He was like, nope, not reading that. And I was like, it's not even detailed, like it's just a little, like, you know what's going on. They don't tell you, you know, but you know what's going on. Yeah. They're making dragon babies. I, yeah, I feel like if I explain that to someone, they would be like, what the fuck are you reading? You know, you gotta be there. You gotta read it. You'll understand. All right. Time for Battle Brief! Now that we have crossed the parapet, yay! Time to head into our Battle Brief section where we will discuss all notable things in this stretch of chapters, including foreshadowing, theories, and our favorite parts. Yes, so we're going to talk a little bit about Zay Xaden's secret missions outside of Bazgayeth, because we do get to see them. Even more foreshadowing. So after Violet was nearly slaughtered by a bunch of these unbonded cadets, thanks to Amber Mavis, Zayden leads her to the flight fields, but he does so through a secret tunnel. Why do you have a secret passageway to the flight field, sir? And this isn't the first time she's noticed Zayden coming from the flight field after hours. Just last episode, she saw him, Bodhi, and Garrick returning from a mysterious night flight. And on a reread, we know that this is when the Marked Ones are actually making their supply runs to help the Gryphon Flyers fight the Venon. So we know that they need the alloy. But on a real note, how did the Marked Ones, find the time for all these extracurricular activities? especially Zayden, he's running his survival club, being a third year, being a wing leader, training Violet, doing the supply runs. Like, do you ever sleep? but this does really go to show how much Aiden cares about the cause and the lengths he will go and protecting the people outside the wards. So it's very noble of him. Which is why he is. Daddy Zayden and Dane. It's just a scum on the bottom of a shoe. He's giving like father Dane, he's like trying to be her father and protect her. Speaking of Dane, there's actually our next topic for our foreshadowing section. This is the only portion of this episode that I have planned to talk shit about Dane, okay? I'm not even giving him the time of day today. Shocking. So for sure, he was going to be in her favorite moments again. No, I'm not dedicating any more of my time to him in my favorite moments. I'm saving that portion for people I actually care about. Good. I love that for you. Some might call it mature. Look at that growth in three episodes, or two episodes. All right. So as we just discussed, Violet was attacked in her sleep by, um, bonded cadets, but there was a writer, a miss them who unlocked her door and allowed them entry into her room. Amber freaking Mavis. This is why you got scorched to death. And you and Dane absolutely deserve each other. Speaking of Dane, we have not one, but two other moments to stretch of chapters where Dane either attempts to, or actually touches, Violet's face. So in chapter 20, in Formation, when Zayden stands in front of everyone and accuses wing leader Mavis for breaking into Violet's room, Dane just cannot believe a leader would break the codex. What world do you think that we're living in? Okay. Anyways. It's rich that he's so quick to defend Amber Mavis because she's a wing leader. And then Violet's like, well, so is Zayden. So what's your problem? And then he's speechless. Literally, Anyways, believe it pal because your so called friend or lover or whatever you guys are Supposed to be I don't really care because you guys don't really matter She almost got violet killed your best friend your supposed best friend and you're so quick to defend her anyways In an attempt to prove violet wrong he went to grab her face And after Violet finally threatened him, he thought better of it. In an attempt to not spend too much time talking about rats on this podcast, we're going to briefly discuss the next attempt in chapter 23, quote, he reaches up to cup my cheek and I hold his gaze end quote. Now, I believe this is the moment when he, accidentally steals valuable memories from, Violet, but don't get a description of his physical reaction after he actually came in contact with her. But I think up until this point, Violet is, carrying and hiding a lot of classified info. And we also know the chapter is that his father and her mother, traveled to Bez Gayath, and as soon as they saw her, they started questioning her about Andorna and her father's research, and I think this is interesting because, why are you guys asking questions, about the Feathertail and his research when, everybody was iffy about her bonding a Feathertail, but I just, I thought at the time, mom was really weird. Yeah, I never put together them asking about Feathertails after he touched her face. Yeah. I just thought the father, father was just a nosy little bastard who was, wanting to know whatever Violet's father was working on. In my brain, it was like, now that she has a feather tail, that reminds father, father, father of papa, sore and gales research. Well, I feel like if it was anybody else other than father, father, a toast, I wouldn't have really been like, Hmm, interesting. But since Dane did touch her face and she had no reaction to it, like she kind of thought it was like them making up and him just showing compassion towards her. Yeah. Yeah. And shortly after that, his father shows up and starts asking her questions. It's kind of weird. I want to know more about how Dane Signet works. How easy is it to like, just touch someone's face and accidentally pull the memories? Does he always have to have a shield up so he doesn't take their memories? Yeah. There's so much we don't know about how it works, it bothers me. Yeah, I think you mentioned this in our first episode of 4th Wing, how he accidentally stole her memories, but at this point he's still learning how to control his Signet, and he's slowly learning as he's going. So I think that in this case, maybe he, it was a very vulnerable conversation, so you wouldn't imagine his potential. Like shields being up in this instance, cause he's felt a lot of emotions and they're making up and, you know, he's just trying to be nice. So in this moment, I feel like his shields were down. So I think he's just like slowly learning as he's gone. But then when this happened and he saw what he saw, then after that, it was just all intentional, you know? Yeah. Well also we have to talk about the iron flame interrogation when she's able to choose what she's thinking about or recalling at that moment and that's how she's able to make Dane see all the shit that Varys is lying about so I'm like is that just like a one time thing or is it whatever she's currently thinking about? I don't know. Maybe he's able to just rifle through them. It could be a combination of both because he did say it was an accident. So it was like, yeah, how did he accidentally pulled that specific memory? And it might be that was like the most prominent one. Cause they were talking about her memories and that. In that moment and she was panicking because she was hiding so much. When he does pull the Athbane memory where he sees Zayden say that they were in Athbane that's when he tells his dad about it. I don't think she was thinking about that in that moment. So I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. I don't trust this mofo. Hopefully we get more information about him. No, not hopefully, but I hope we get more information on his. Thickening. Treacherous. You're like, I don't want to learn a fact about this man. It's not relevant to the story. No. Alright, next we're going to get into the secret attacks and the, I was going to say thickening conspiracy, but that just sounds like. It sounds sexual, I don't know. I'm in the gutter. But anyways, by this point, we know that Bazgayeth and his leadership are keeping some heavy hitting secrets. So while Liam and Violet are on their daily archives run, they get that peek at the scroll that's intended for Professor Markham, and it's not classified. It reads as follows, the conditions at Somerton are of particular concern. A village was ransacked and a supply convoy looted last night. The pair expected to hear about this in battle brief and they were both shocked and exchanged glances when Markham came in and was like, yeah, the front lines are pretty chill. Let's talk about a battle that happened years ago. And then later the stretch during squad battles, Violet stumbles across similar scrolls in her mother's office. So all describing attacks and weakened wards. So she's like, Okay, so this is happening all the time and we're not learning about it. So the attacks have only increased over time and yet the cadets It's not learning about him and some of the missives on Lilith's desk were requesting her reinforcements and saying they don't know how much longer they can keep their position and specifically the one in Athbane, In hindsight, we do know that the increasing frequency of attacks directly reflects the desperation of the Griffin Flyers to defend themselves against the threat of Bennett outside the wards because in Iron Flame, Brennan tells Violet that he estimates they have like six months until they're Totally fucked basically. And in the end of iron flame, the Vennon breached the wards actually way sooner than that. So this is giving some foreshadowing to exactly how dire the situation is outside the wards. Cause we really don't know, but we know that the wards and the outposts are being attacked even more. And that's just because the Griffin flyers are so desperate to get their hands on the only material that can kill Bennett. Yeah. So wait, I'm confused a little bit. I have questions. Yeah. I'm thinking So, okay. The wards weakening, is that because of the bending? Are they weakening the wards with, are they like sucking all the magic out the wards and that's how they're weakening? Or is it the Gryphon Riders? I think it's the griffin riders because the alloy in the outpost is what powers the wards and then the griffin flyers keep stealing it and I'm guessing they can't make it fast enough to keep them at full strength but also I'm not 100 percent I feel like it could be something else too. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Maybe we should read it. Look it up later. Right. I trust Reddit with my life. I feel like this stretch of chapters raises a lot of questions for the readers obviously. Navar's leadership is hiding something. And what is it? And I feel like it's funny because when she went to Montserrat, after winning the squad battle, she like tells her sister, I thought everything was okay. We're not learning about this and better brief. Well, it would take literally all day to just break down every single battle that happens. So I feel like that was kind of a deflect from Rebecca yarrows. And I feel like at this point, like, yeah, I feel like at this point, like we got some red flags going up and then later on we get like, Oh, it's nothing. Just, you know, don't worry about it. Like it just happens all the time. Yeah. But this is definitely a deflect and. We're like, okay, everything's cool. And then big plot twist. So yeah, I was like, obviously they're not going to tell you everything. Violet. Right. Yeah. So, yeah, I feel like the questions that we get this stretch are really important as far as like the foreshadowing for what's to come because yeah, big plot twist Next we're going to talk about Liam and his oath to Zayden and Zayden's responsibility for the Mark ones after the big attack Zayden assigns Violet a bodyguard or as she refers to him as A babysitter, because if she dies, Zayden dies, and he cannot risk his life. So Liam, the babysitter, is very dedicated to his job and mentions several times that he owes Zayden his life. Quote, all I can say is that your survival is essential to Ryerson's and I owe him everything. Everything. End quote. Now we do learn some interesting things from Liam. One, Zayden is the oldest, Marked one, or ALDIS marked one, correct grammar, whatever. Two, there are That's on the last of our priority list. We can't pronounce shit, why are we even worried about grammar? I know. It just sounded weird. As soon as I said it, I was like, okay, maybe I should just change this to Eldest, but yeah. I feel like it sounded fine, but I could tell that you didn't like the way it sounded. And the second thing that we learned is that there are 107 marked ones in total. Zayden being the oldest and then the youngest being about six years old at this point. We as the readers, Obviously, we've read the whole series so far. We know that General Sword Girl whipped Zayden 107 times, one for each mark one. quote, my quiet gasp is uncontrollable and Zayden tenses for a second before taking his shirt from Garrick's outstretched hand and tugging it over his head, covering the navy blue relic of the dragon that sweeps from his waist to over both shoulders, textured intricately with raised silver lines, I couldn't see from across the gem. Silver lines I instantly recognized as scars. End quote. We already know that Zayden feels very protective over the Mark Ones, and he cares about their survival, hence the assemblies and him just always looking out for them. and we know that the Mark Ones have an unusual sense of undying loyalty to the Wing Leader. They always, have his back, always defending him. And this is probably, Essentially because of those scars, basically he is responsible for them because he, you know, took responsibility for all the lives of the Mark Ones. And he's in charge of making sure that they stay in line while they are under the Varian leadership. And this is why the Mark Ones feel so. Indebted to him. And as if they owe him everything because he bared the punishment for their survival. Yeah, it's just like, so wild that even if just one betrays the bar, His life is forfeit. It's so fucked up. It is, so bad. What the hell? I have beef with the bar. All right, let's dig into Zayden the Intenzic. So up to this point, We know that Violet has had many scalp prickling experiences, which is Zayden reading her intentions with his intrinsic ability. and I wanted to wait to discuss it until we got to a little later, so at this point, we have a little more like concrete pieces of foreshadowing to this being his second signet. So, I want to talk about when Zayden's basically interrogating Taryn to find out how Violet was almost murdered, he glares right at Taryn, to which the dragon responds, Do not dare to try and read me, human, or you'll regret it. So, I feel like this is foreshadowing but also, it It isn't because on a reread, I thought this was like Taron. He knew about Zayden being an intrinsic and he was warning him, like, don't try and read my intentions, but it's confirmed in iron flame. That's the Gail actually kept the secret from her mate. So it's interesting. We actually know that Terran doesn't know about his abilities, but it does still feel like foreshadowing because it kind of gets our minds thinking that way. And then later in the scene, Zayden also tells Violet that hidden abilities could be the most important currency they possess, which is a huge clue, So we know that his, Biggest hidden ability is that he can constantly read people's intentions and it's giving him so much information about everyone around him and we do get other clues in addition to just these ones about his intrinsic abilities. So, The knowledge of Sigeil bonding one of Zayden's ancestors. Also, I don't think it's in this stretch, it might have been the one before, but this is how he ended up getting the second segment in the first place, because it's technically forbidden so that is a big one. And I also love how Zayden and Violet have both have two signets, even though he doesn't have two dragons, but it's like total power couple vibes. They love it. And then this stretch of chapters also marks the infamous evidence of Violet thinking something in italics and Zayden responding out loud to her thoughts. And she's like, wait, what? I said that out loud, bitch. He's reading your mind. side note, I am wondering how much of his immense well of knowledge about everyone is from reading people's intentions or his shadows. Cause he does tell Violet. Earlier that he knows everything basically because he's a shadow wielder, which I'm like, I guess so Is it like an azureal akatar situation where his shadows like whisper shit back at him or he can hear through them? but I also feel like that may just be a deflect to i'm an intrinsic and I have to Find another way to explain how I know so much about everybody. What do you think? Well, we know Zayden is infamous for skirting around the truth. So yes, we'll probably never find out. I love how she planned this dialogue because I love how he's telling her like, your secrets are going to be your biggest, most powerful weapon. And we know that. People with intrinsic abilities, like the price for that is death. So obviously he's keeping it so he can stay alive, but it is also his most powerful weapon because he knows so much and nobody knows like that. He just, he's, he got his information and he has to keep it to himself. Yeah. Or he'll die. Okay Though violet was lucky enough to bond two glorious dragons Her largest one is made it to none other than the infamous winged leaders dragon segil and given their age difference a problem arises is Zayden being a third year, Violet being a first year. We, you know, so made of dragons cannot stand to be away from one another. And this is where the age gap comes into play. So inevitably next year, their dragon's tolerance will be tested because they have to be separated due to Zayden graduating soon. And so when Violet and her squad wins the squad battle, the stretch and they fly to Montserrat, to tour the outpost. Sigil and Tarin, they're separated and we find out that they can't last longer than three days without being in close proximity from each other. And I think this is important to highlight because this is just a glimpse of the struggles not only that the dragons will face in book two, but Violet and Zayden will face too, given that by then they will be all close and cuddly. So I feel it, I'm just in the gutter, but like they're, they have to have proximity to each other. I'm like, does that mean they need to get their Fuck on, it might just be like separation anxiety. I mean, that's probably it for sure. Yeah. But in my brain, they just, they can't stay away from, we know the dragons have like a very low tolerance for anything. Low tolerance for being away from their mate and low tolerance for bullshit. Yes, for sure. Especially Taryn. It's too old to deal with that shit. No. All right. We're going to talk about our first glimpse of a dark wielder. So thanks to Butt Face Barlow, Venon have officially entered our story. Ding, ding, ding. Red Rim dies. Pay attention. But I stay on my feet until his hands clasp my face. Agony fills every cell in my body as violent, vibrating energy rips through me with an intensity that makes me feel like he's cleaving ligament from bone, muscle from tendon. I scream as I'm shaken by an internal force I don't understand, as though he's forcing his own power into my body, shocking me with a thousand stings of vibrating energy. End quote. So people were originally theorizing that this was his signet and that it was pain projection. I've seen that a lot. But actually, Rebecca did confirm in an interview that what he did on the mat in this specific scene is actually have been an ability. So, my first thought, that he was channeling from the source and forcing all that power from Violet into that moment, giving her, like, that pain reaction. But I, I feel like if he was channeling in that moment, we know that it, physically drains the area and the people around them. So I feel like that would have been noticeable if he was actually channeling in front of everybody. So I actually don't think that maybe was what happened. I think he was probably been in before the sparring and I think he used the residual power he was carrying to harm Violet in the scene, which is interesting. I actually wonder If it wasn't Violet, if this would have killed somebody, because we've theorized before that Violet is maybe like immune or an antidote to Venon, or she somehow connected them in a special way, but maybe that's how she survived like that much dark power being forced into her, because I'm wondering like if it was just any other cadet, not Violet, would they have died? We know how much Jack loves to murder people, but yeah, that's interesting. Imagine wanting something so bad that you just, you become a dark wielder. He's like, I want to win. I wonder at what point he decided this, like part of me wants to believe it's Jack, but he probably knew this from the job, but another part of me thinks it was after threshing when Violet Bundy, Two dragons. And he bonded a smaller one and he's like, I need to be on top. I can't stand being at the bottom. Like I got pushed away from my table. I was eating it. Like people made me move. This is not, this is not it. And violent soaring girl. She's on top. No, absolutely not. Yeah. Well, yeah, we talked to the first episode, how ambitious for power he is and he was like, I want to, I'm going to be wing later. So I think when he first came by his guy, that was his plan. He was like, I'm going to be this. I'm going to get the biggest fucking dragon. I'm going to become wing leader. And then when all this shit happens and his. Mortal enemy that he's, announced. He's going to kill repeatedly. And then she hands him his ass repeatedly. He's like, okay, might as well become a dark wielder. I don't know. I do think that he was probably recruited. I think that the men were maybe sneaking into Bazgayath and recruiting people like Jack. Most definitely. Yeah. I wonder if there's someone in leadership. Of the military that's not a Venon but is feeding information to the Venon like who should they recruit like if they see Jack and they know he's this sadistic psycho and they're like you should recruit him he'd probably do it. Well I definitely think there is somebody on the inside that's Helping them because I don't know how they would do it all by themselves. There's always an inside man, I feel like. And we know that at some point they disguise as scrap. So it just kind of questions who's the snake here. Yeah. Alright, we're getting into our theory section. I have a couple I want to talk about because Kenzie's allergic to the theory section. I texted her because the past three episodes she hasn't put any theories down and I was like, you know, are you allergic? She was like, yeah. I was like, all right. I love this section. So I'm cool with it. Yeah. Anyways, okay. My first theory is actually about Bodhi. and I got this, supporting evidence and everything from maestra PNW on Reddit. So thanks whoever you are. In this stretch of chapter is something that happens multiple times, does happen again, so Violet is struck by just how much Bodhi and Zayden look alike. Quote, The similarity between the cousins still gives me pause. Bodhi has the same bronze skin and strong brow line, but his features aren't as angular as Zayden's, and his eyes are a lighter shade of brown. He looks like a softer, more approachable version of his older cousin. So yeah, they're cousins, but she notes this over and over and over again, throughout the series. And she almost ends up mistaking one for the other, like when they first walk into the room. And I just feel like that's notable and it seems like it maybe could be foreshadowing something. So let's dig into this theory. I'm theorizing that sometime in the future, maybe in Onyx Storm, Zayden will have to disappear to either hide his venomous or go on some side quest. I don't know, but I feel like Bodhi could Possibly impersonate him like most likely I feel like if it's gonna happen he would be impersonating him as like the leader of Arisha I feel like it would be harder for him to pretend to be Zayden at Bats Gaiath because there's so many Complications there like Sigeil for one the fact that everyone knows and sees Both Bodhi and Zayden daily and can probably tell them apart at this point. But I feel like at Baz Gayle, he could impersonate Zayden from a distance if he needed. But I just feel like, I don't know, that comparison is mentioned too much and like how similar, it's not just, Oh, they look like. I feel like if it was just that she would probably say it once and be done with it, but she says it multiple times. That's weird because I overlooked it all the times I've come back and reread this book, the fact that they look almost mistakable. Like, I don't know. And now that you say that. I do remember like constantly reading that. She points it out. Yeah. That's I mean, it's like three or four times probably, but still that's the lot for Rebecca Yaros because she writes everything with intention. Right. Yeah. My next theory is about Papa Sorengale and his research and how it's driving me crazy, but it really is driving me insane that Violet knows where his research is because she says she does. In the stretch of chapters, but she just doesn't feel inclined to go get it. And I'm like, dude, you bonded a feather tail. Maybe you should read that shit. Yeah. Anyways, we know that Papa Sauron Gale, one, knew about Venon and left violet clues, two, he also became incredibly reclusive and into his research after Brennan, you know, Died or not died, but I'm wondering what was he looking for and if it was related to something after Brennan's death, like maybe he knew Brennan was still alive and helping the revelation and was looking for something to stop the Venon and help their cause. Or maybe his research into feather tails. He came across the seventh den and learned about Antarna and possibly the first six, the seventh, then in that. And or he could have been studying just how the feather tails can give their powers directly to humans, but the timeline about this and him knowing about Venon makes me think it's something much more and possibly Venon related. And I have a prediction that in Onyx Storm or maybe further into the series that Violet is going to pull out his research and it's probably going to be like, you know, Unfinished, like it has the rough pieces put together, but she's gonna have to be the one to put the rest of the puzzle together and it's gonna be something crucial to the plot. But, because as much as our girl is a writer, I feel like Iron Flame especially highlighted her scribe side with the storyline of her, uncovering the truth and finding out different things, especially like with all the ward stones and stuff, and I don't know. I just feel like that's going to be a continuing theme and possibly Papa Sorengill's research is going to work into that mystery and her uncovering the truth. There's also a lot of theories that Papa was murdered and or may still be alive, which is interesting. So we might get into that in another episode. I kind of think I'm not on that train, but I feel like it'd be fun to discuss in a later episode. So on my first read of these two books, I was on the train of he's either still alive, now I'm more so on the side of he might've been murdered. I have some ideas about what happened, but they're not concrete yet. And they more so revolve around Onyx Storm. So I'm going to save those for later. Word. Can't wait to hear them. All right. All right. My favorite part. Our favorite inaudible moments. So I'm going to start with, of course, talking about Zayden. Okay. Obviously. So Zayden's heart and mysterious barriers. Are slowly breaking and though his conversation with violet are still very short and ineffective They have talked a lot more since threshing. He's opened up a little bit more. He's been more talkative. We love it And his need to rescue her is just so hot. Like I love how he's like anytime she is He's in trouble. He is there to save the day. Like what man just shows up and slaughters several people at once on your behalf. I'll wait. Cause I don't know anybody. I mean like, obviously we know more book boyfriends who have done it, but you know, you know. And do not, don't get me started. Cause I know Kana, I know Kana is going to talk about this. Don't get me started on the kiss scene. I guess I am. I'm gonna let, I'm gonna let Kana go into depth about that. But, boy oh boy. So, my favorite Zayden quote this stretch was quote, you are astonishing. End quote. It is very evident that Zayden is so proud of Vi and he just has a hard time expressing it. I just feel like his, His minute, expressions that he gives her when she does certain things, the like half smirk and the little wink or the head nods. It's just so cool. And for him to actually voice that he's like somewhat proud of her is really cute as well. Yes, yes. Yes, and lastly their whole sparring lesson, which is very fun to read about. I just love their banter and their attention. It was really cool about her, you know, being very timid. The tension really went up a notch. Several notches, actually, in this episode. So obviously we know the shift is when they kiss, but I feel like this is where the shift for him really locked into place of like, Oh snap, like he's realizing she's gonna be a problem. She's a distraction, like, Next, I want to discuss Liam, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome to the party, Liam, we missed you. So happy that you have you here. So aside from the dragons, Liam is definitely at the top of my character list. He is so easygoing and cheery. He reminds me of myself. And he really helps set the tone and stretch the chapters. I love how he embodies that. Violet bonded instantly and I just love him so much and I'm going to enjoy all of his moments while he's here. That's funny because you, liked Loreth from Quicksilver because he reminded you, uh, yeah, he reminded Jesus. Anyways, yes, and then you just said that about Liam and literally when you were talking, I didn't even read what you were gonna say, but I just was like, I bet it's cause he reminds her of her. So, and then he's like, I saw you nodding after I said it. I was like, yeah, something just clicked. Yes. Lastly, I want to talk about the little snippet of sister bonding we get to stretch episodes. So, welcome back to the chat Mira. We are happy to have you back. Mischa, we're not dead. Nine months later, Violet has survived. So, Violet and her big sister were reunited to stretch. And as the eldest, this just made my heart smile because I am one of three. Kids that my parents have and I'm the oldest. So this scene hit home for me. So my Mira, I don't know why I just call her Myra. Mira, the toughest rider of her class, probably generation, just couldn't hide her emotions when she saw her little sister again after nine whole months. She expressed her gratitude and sense of pride and They were able to catch up and reminisce on old times when they still had their father and Brennan, this was one of my favorite moments to stretch hands down. Cause I just thought it was so bittersweet how they got to catch up and bond. And you can just kind of see that if distance wasn't a factor, that would be super close. It would be like, that would be like her bestie for real. I was going to put this in my favorite moments. And then I saw you did, and I was like, I'll just add on top of that. I'm the youngest, so I'm not the oldest, but I do have three Well, I have four siblings, three sisters. And so it also hit home for me. When Violet hugs her and then everything from the past, however long she's been at best guys just comes flowing out of her and like all hits her and I feel like I've had those moments where Shit will be going down, life be happening. And then I just have a phone call with my sister. Like we hang out and it just all comes out. They have just like a special ability to bring everything out of you. It's great. They have such a motherly ability without being your mother. It's like you have your mother and she's there for certain things. And you have like your sister who was also a motherly figure for you. And it's just like, yeah, it's like your mother. You can do drugs with. Yeah, basically. Anyways, one of my favorite moments was once again, female fantasy friendship. So when Violet remarks that Zayden is the most powerful writer of their generation, Rhiannon reminds her, quote, for now, he's the most powerful writer in our generation for now. And this is at a point when Violet has, gone through so much, she's not able to channel while other people are getting their cygnets. And Rhiannon has watched her from the beginning, like going through all these constant struggles and battling the weakness of her body. But despite all that, Rhiannon still sees the potential in Violet and speaks it to her. And I don't think it's just because she bonded the best. Biggest, baddest dragon. I think it's because she sees how resilient Violet is and how compassionate she is and just how strong hearted she is. And this is what friendship is all about. Wanting the best for each other and speaking encouragement and empowerment. And then later when Rihanna is showing her summoning segment and she says, I can't bring it through the wall. Violet falls that up with yet. You can't go through walls yet. So I love that. It was like right back at you, girl. Like we're both bad asses. We both support each other. We want you to accomplish everything you can. And I love this for them. And it is a good book. Really good healthy role model for female friendships that build each other up because that's always the case and we have talked about this a lot in our friendship like weeding out friends that aren't really 100 percent there for you and It may not be to like Super obvious degrees, but some people don't want to see you succeed because they want to be the one that's always doing the best. Yeah. And this is perfect because, Violet and Dane have been friends since, That's literally their whole lives, right? And Dane is like the example of this. And he is disguising as being her boyfriend. Like oldest and truest friend, but he is kind of like print on her downfall and just like hoping for the attentions. It's not really wanting her to succeed at all. Violet uses the amount of time they've been friends as an excuse to be like, Oh, he's Violet's friend. Like, he's just looking out for me. I feel like we find ways to make excuses for those people. And it's like, yes, yes. Yes, it's like, yes, we've been friends for this many years, but things do change. And people tend, to find themselves in two different points of their lives. Right. So at this point, you know, Dane knew Violet is this weak girl who was sick her whole life. And now she's on, a season of elevation and she's but like a bad ass dragon, two dragons. And she's doing so good. And I feel like it's hard for him to see that versus what he's seen in her whole life. And it's crazy how the friendships in this book, you can relate them. To your real life, because I feel like, again, we've both experienced these things. And I feel like personally with my experience, it was more so we were in two different places in our lives. And I think it was just hard for them to see that, you know what I'm saying? Yes. And I was in Violet's place making excuses like, Oh, we've been friends for over 10 years, like, you know, you know, well, yeah, that was one of the many reasons why Mackenzie and I bonded is we both had ex best friends that we had friendships with for many years. And eventually realized that, like, that wasn't for us to either outgrow them or we realized they were toxic. And, I actually do feel like fantasy books and like, All these books that I love have really helped me grow. Cause I feel like if you don't even realize it when you're reading it in the moment, like reading about Dane and hers whole friendship and like seeing that, like, yeah, I shouldn't excuse things just because they're my oldest friend, which is what I was actually doing at that time with a friend that I had, I was saying like, okay, I know why you are the way that you are. So I'm just going to excuse your behavior. And then also we've been friends for like, Almost 10 years. So, but don't let that stop you. If this isn't giving Violet and Rhiannon your friendship, it's not, it's not, you know, you deserve better, but I do love it. Yes. I think, I also think that this like also just. Proves the normalcy of the whole thing. Like it is normal for people to outgrow each other. It's normal for people to be into different places in their lives. It's normal for friendships to end. And though it may seem crazy after spending 10 plus years with somebody, like it's normal and you, you'll get over it eventually. Life changes, people change, like there's no need to have ill will. It is really in our human nature to adapt. All right. Let's talk about the kiss. I love how this scorching hot kiss was obviously amazing just in itself, but I loved how it was written into the story. And how it advances their relationship. So the two are clearly like not wanting to succumb to their feelings and their attraction for each other, but they're dragons. doing their thing actually weakens this resolve and causes them to collide in this super hot scene and that actually adds to the story because once they get a taste like they gotta have some more even though they try to avoid each other and not talk about it after of course like they just can't stop thinking about it but i feel like The fact that her signet was actually working to the scene is just the cherry on top. It was such great writing by Rebecca. Quote, a flash of lightning burns behind my closed eyes, followed by the boom of thunder. Thundersnow isn't uncommon around here, but damn does it summarize how this feels. Wild and out of control. End quote. There's nothing hotter than a kiss that's just like ravenous and wild and out of control. But was someone that hot? That has a dragon. Oh my god, just kill me now. I'm dead. But yeah, her signet, like literally lightning just happened while they were kissing. I was like, oh my god. Yeah, we're starting for another type of, uh, unexpecting. It just fit the whole scene so well, and the fact that she had her signet that early and didn't know it was even cooler. and somehow it's even hotter that a very morally gray person that Zayden is refuses to act on that desire and like, eventually breaks it apart and you're like, you have got to leave. Very noble of him. But yeah, it is interesting. We learned later that this is the moment that Zayden suspected that Violet was a lightning wielder. He just didn't say anything at that moment. The lightning is what jolted him out of the kiss and made him realize like what she was in that exact moment, which I feel like is really cool. And he didn't want to say anything to her. He just wanted it to develop on her own, which I think is cool as well. Cause he'd be like, you can move lightning dude, you can move there. And then she probably would've been like, what? Huh? I did that? No way. I think that is so sweet because we will get, we'll talk about more next episode, but like when she actually does wield, it's such a wholesome moment and everybody's so proud of her. I can't wait to talk about it, but yeah, one of my favorite scenes is like after she wields is so proud. He's like lightning wielding her, and I'm like, yeah! Literally when I first heard that, that was my reaction. I was like, I literally just reread that scene today and I was so tempted. I like picked up my phone to text you. Like I got to this part. I literally have chills right now. And then we were texting about something else and I got distracted. That's one of my favorite moments of the book. Yes. Queen. You kill that butt face. Barlow. Even though he's not actually dead, but whatever. Sadly. All right, folks, time to close out our better brief and move on to the book of Jessenia, where we will dive into the mythology that inspired Fourth Wing, as well as explaining a world building topic. Today, we're breaking down the gods in this world. So feel free to skip ahead to our mini series. If you feel like you're already an expert. Yes. So for the mythology, we're going to be diving into the meanings behind some of the God names. So Malik, this name primarily comes from Arabic and Persian origin during the late Bronze Age and means King. And in Hebrew, this name also carries the same meaning of sovereignty. Basically like King and sovereign, I think kind of denotes to the fact that he is a God. So I'm assuming that's maybe where she got it from, but also Could not have been. I don't know. Yeah, I also think too is because he's like the most mentioned one and there's a lot of depth in this Book and he is the god of death as we know and he's mentioned a lot So he's probably like the most popular in this world because it's literally like a death college. So Well, yeah, I really do think violet my hand might have a special connection to him, but I don't know Doon doonay doonay Doon, doon Doon, doon Is that how you say it? I'm overthinking it Yeah, it's doon Okay, D Loon comes from the Gaelic name. Dawn, D O N N, which means brown or dark. So I don't really feel like that's related, but I do have a random fun fact for you. Dune is the 27th most popular name in Ireland. Is that what popped up when you looked it up? Yeah. And then I was like, weird, but okay. I'm wrong with it. Since it doesn't have a connected meaning to the story, you know, I had to include a fun fact or something. Yeah. Cool. All right, so no, unfortunately it does not have any meaning in the real world, which was likely just Rebecca inventing a character at this point. And Amari, I'm assuming that's how you say that a name of Hebrew origin means eternal in Sanskrit, it translates to goddess in Greek. The meaning is immortal. Really cool how all these cultures overlap with similar meanings. Anyways, yeah, let's move on to our magic portion of Myths and Magic, where we're going to break down the gods that we just learned about. in this fictional world, religion is polytheistic, meaning there are several different gods to worship, and there are various temples mentioned within chapters, such as the ones of Shantara and Aresha, There are temples here where humans can visit to appeal and worship the gods. So confirmed by Taron, we know that the dragons do not worship the same gods or probably any gods at all. And they view them as quote puny. Malik, let's talk about him. So he is the God of death and also the God that we know the most about. Like we just said, he's assumed to be male and Bazgayeth, it's concluded with the phrase, we commend their souls to Malik. So when a human dies, their soul is basically sent to meet Malik. Who has the power to basically condemn them to torture and send them to hell, or I guess pass them on to a field of wildflowers or who the fuck knows. In terms of religious practices, it is custom to burn the belongings of the deceased in order to pass them along to the other world. And it is a grave offense to Malik to keep the belongings, which Violet actually does. So after Liam dies, she ends up keeping his letters to give to his little sister Sloane, and she's like, So, considering that we know that to be a grave offense, that's also why I think she may be connected to Malak. It's because Malak kind of let that slide. But, and then in Major Rorley's Guide to Appeasing the Gods, they claim that he who does not burn for Malak will be burned by Malak. So, sounds like this dude is pretty cool. Super serious. Yeah, basically. Yes. So Zinal is the God of luck and humans often send a prayer to this guy when they need a dose of luck on their side. We do not get many references of this guy, but Violet mentioned his hands and smile and uses male pronouns to describe him. Dune is the goddess of war and Taryn also refers to her as the goddess of strength. Like the other gods, humans make appeals to this female god in temples and prayers for strength and victory in war. At the very top of our god hierarchy, Amari stands as queen of the gods. Violet states at one point that Rhiannon's high cheekbones and oval face reminds her of Amari. At another point, Zayden describes Amari as having the ability to do this. To design a woman cherubs are usually carved at the feet of statues of Amari and it seems people pray to Amari for various reasons of aid worship and more. Yeah. So not very many gods. We don't really know much about them other than obviously Malik. Yeah. I, I don't know. I just love talking about all the parts of the world building, everything that went into her creating this world, that's what we're going to continue to do. Yeah. And I also love how consistent she was with the world building, especially with her religious system in this book. She was very consistent about mentioning the gods and talking about them and describing them. So yes, I love Rebecca's writing. So good. All right, folks, moving on, time to head to the flight field where every week, Kana and I will do two to three mini series unique to our podcast. They won't be the same every week, so keep tuning in for all of the fun. Yes, so first up is song association. So we're basically just gonna share, what song we think relates to the character or scenes in this chapter. Mine was the song troubled by Camilio. It just screams Zayden and Violet. shout out to my friend, Bebe. That also listened to this podcast for introducing me to it. And she was actually like, dude, this is the perfect Zayden song. Dude. Yes. So not only does it sound like Zayden could be singing it, I feel like it really sums up how he feels about Violet and how he views her. So quote, swear she might kill me, but at least I'll die with a smile. Never been so free as when I have her by my side, she's going to be the death of me. I call her trouble. This fits so good with how many times Zayden says Violet is going to be the death of him. Because he says that a lot. Yeah. I also don't want to talk about how that might be foreshadowing something. But we're in a happy place right now. We're going to stay there. Another one from the song, quote, The moment I met her, Oh, I cannot believe how sweet trouble could be. So coming up next episode, we're actually going to discuss how Zayden admits that he was falling for her basically as soon as he saw her on the parapet, despite what his behaviors towards her lead us to believe, like he knew that she was going to be trouble for him right from the start. He was probably like, damn, she looks good. And everything he finds out and learns about her after it just makes him fall even harder. And that's why he's trying to push her away. he's like, Oh my gosh, she's gonna get me in trouble if I'm like around her. So yeah, that's the song. It's really good. I like it. It's a banger. Check it out. I need Rebecca to publish a book of just Zayden's point of view. I need, I need that. I know I said this every book, but I need his point of view. Forget everything else, I want Zayden's point of view. As much as I love Violet, I wish the books from here on out would be like dual POV. Yes. Cause I love his bonus chapters. Yes. It's so cool to be inside his head. My song is Arsonist Lullaby by Hosier. I first picked the song because of the title, Arsonist, Dragons, Fires, like you get the picture. But I also was convinced by the first line that this was like the perfect song for Zayden's story, how he grew up, and like just his inner turmoil outside of Violet. So one of the lines, quote, when I was a child, I heard voices, some would sing and some scream, you soon find you have few choices, I learned the voices die with me, end quote. I really want to quote the whole song, but this is just enough proof for now. And I think this is Zayden's song and just in the simple fact that he has suffered through so much as an adolescent and now has the lives of 106 kids that he is responsible for. And his secrets, all the things that he's done, his history, his past, it literally all is going to die with him pretty much. Of course, Violet eventually figures everything out, but like if it wasn't for her, all these things would just die with him. Nobody would know outside of, you know, the, the other Mark ones. And another quote from the song is quote, all you have is your fire and the place you need to reach. Don't you ever tame your demons, but always keep them on a leash end quote. And this literally sounds like some advice that he would give Violet. I just, I can just see him like telling her something like this. I think this was, this was perfect about like just his inner thoughts and how he thinks. That is perfect. All right. We're gonna do Kiss, Marry, and Kill. So we've each compiled lists and we're gonna try to make the best decisions we can. Okay. Okay. My first one is General Malgren. Professor Carr and Colonel Markham. Okay. Pick your poison. Bro, what the hell? Okay. So this is actually really personal. I'm going to kill Professor Carr. And it's not even anything that has to do with the book. I have a, like a weird connection to that last name. So I'm just going to kill it off, kill it off. All right. Yeah. Um, I'm going to marry Milgren cause he has the largest dragon and I'll, uh, I'll kiss Markham. Nice, nice. Yeah, I think I would do the same thing because I really hate Professor Carr and Well, I actually was gonna switch the other two and then you reminded me that Milgrim has a super big badass dragon. So Yeah Yeah, I'll marry Milgrim as well. And then I guess I'll kiss my Wingspan Wingspan does matter guys Yes, well, Adam Melgren's old, so I'm thinking he'll probably die sooner than Markham would. Yeah, hopefully it won't be too sad in the future. Yeah. So my first is Dane Atos, Amber Mavis, and Orin. I didn't feel like looking up his last name, so I just, I just did his first name. Seafert. Yeah. Sounds like a bitch ass last name if you ask me. All of them do. Yep. Oh. Whoa. Um, well, I have said that I've forgiven Dane enough, so I guess I'll marry him. For everyone that's not watching on YouTube, you're really missing out on the facial expressions. Especially in this mini series. I was like, I'll marry Dane, and then I was like Uh, we're in Yeah, Oren's dead. Okay. Pissed me off too many times. I'm as much as I hate Amber Mavis. Auryn's much worse. So I guess I'll kiss her. I think I would marry Dane just so I can give him shit his whole life and just, just be his hate for existence, I would love that. I would be honored. Yes. I would be honored to marry Dane. I would actually kill Amber because. She just seems very whiny like I feel like she would be the bane of my existence and I would kiss orange I feel like he's a pretty decent lay. I don't know Why he would be decent I could tolerate him. I feel like anyone in the writers quadrant can probably lay it down. I Don't know. I'm not gonna say it like that Oh, you're thinking about Dane. Yeah! I love how you're like, Yeah, Orin and Jack can probably lay it down. But Dane? Nah. He had an elder. And they stopped messing with each other. It was not because of seniority, it was, we know why Amber Mavis stopped messing with Dane Atos. I know. Dude, I can't believe Was it because of the codex? Dane was so rigid on the codex, but we know, well I guess we assume that he was banging Amber. So I'm like, you clearly don't care about the rules. Only when it suits you, just like Amber did. She only cares about the roles and she agrees with them. Yeah. All right. My next one is, hmm. Taryn, Taryn, Taryn, Zayden, and Toothless. No. Where the hell did Toothless come from? Um, my brain. Oh my gosh, why? Because I knew this would be like an impossible decision for you. Well, obviously. I can't even voice this. I would cry if I have to kill one of my dragons, so Zayden has to die. I'm sorry. He's gonna become Bindin anyways at this point. There's no saving me. Somehow I knew you would do that. I was like, she's gonna kill the dragon? No, I can't. I can't. I would probably I would probably Kiss Taryn, cause Seguil actually scares the shit out of me. I feel like she would kill you just for looking at him, so you might as well just kiss him. Might as well just kiss him. And then Toothless, I would marry him, cause he's actually like my favorite dragon ever. We all know this. He's my favorite. Yeah, like you, Zayden's dead. Except for I would marry Taryn and just hope that Sigail doesn't come for me. I'm just gonna pretend she doesn't exist in this hypothetical timeline. Because I just feel like marrying Taryn and enjoying all of his humor and his quips was just, yeah, the best thing ever. And then I'll kiss Toothless because he's really cute. It's cute. Oh my God. This live action. Kena sent me the trailer for it as soon as I woke up this morning. I was like, it looks just like the animated version. I'm so excited. I actually kind of like that. A lot of people were bitching in the comments. They're like, why did you even remake it? If it's just going to be shot for shot. But I'm like, there's actual acting like, yeah. And I love how Toothless looks the exact same. Even his mannerisms in the trailer. I was like, yep, that's Toothless. I feel like. I knew that they wouldn't have a problem make matching Toothless up, because I feel like even though, um, How to Train Your Dragon came out so long ago, even then, Toothless was very detailed in the animated version. I wasn't really too surprised when they were able to really, you know, Match them up because I feel like the CGI back then was still top tier with making Toopless. So there's some old movies where the CGI is better than what we got now. Yeah, kind of sad. All right, back to fourth wing. We got a little sidetracked. It's okay. Anything for you, Toopless. My next one is Brennan, Jack, or Liam. Jack is so dead. Um. Obviously I'm going to marry Liam. Obviously. Um, I guess like as Brennan, but I really don't want to because I actually, I've been holding off on my Brennan hate, but I actually don't like him and I think he might be a traitor. Wait, no, I think I talked about that in episode one. Yeah. Yeah. I haven't been holding back. Yeah. I don't like the man. I don't trust him. Well, I haven't, I've held back on my theories about why I think he's really suspicious. That's what I thought you meant. Yeah. Which comes in the iron flame later, but yeah, Jack's dead. I'll kiss Brandon. I'll marry Liam. I would do the same. Yeah. Solid. All right. The next one is the three idiots, one brain cell, Jack, Oren, and Tynan. Okay. I feel like Tynan is so weak and just, he's dead. He's like the weakest link. I can't do that. He's dead. We already discussed that Jack would probably be a decent lane. Oh, I don't know. Cause I don't want to marry Oren. Okay, wait, orrin is dead. Okay. I'll probably marry Tynan and kiss. I hate all of those. Yeah, I know. It's a lose lose situation. I would kill Tynan, cause he's giving little bitch energy, cause he was just like going with, he was just following Jack around and like going with whatever he said, and I just hate that follower energy, like at least Jack and Orin are trying to have original thoughts. Yeah, I mean he could be submissive, so you could potentially run the marriage. Mmm, Mmm, I'd marry Tynan, I'd change my mind. Good thinking. Uh, yeah, I guess I'll kill Orin. I don't know why I hate him more than Jack. I feel like Jack did way more fucked up things. Well, I think it's just because Orin literally, like, tried to kill her in her sleep. The most offensive Yeah, true. thing to the Codex. Yeah. And he was pretty generally annoying. yeah, and I guess I'll kiss Jack, because He's probably a good kisser. I hate to say it. Yeah. laughs It feels wrong to admit anything slightly positive about Jack. Yep. My last one is Zayden, Seguil, or Andarna. Is it weird I'm still gonna kill Zayden? Damn, not really. Cause they're dragons! I know! Dude, I was, uh, nevermind I can't talk about that. It's the house of the dragon thing. Cause I was rewatching the part today where, well actually, I mean, I guess I could. It's not really a spoiler. A dragon died and I was just like on the verge of tears. Anyways, bye Zayden! I already have enough book boyfriends, I don't need you. But I love you, I'm sorry. Forgive me. Uh, I'll marry Andarna because I feel like she's super badass. And Sigail, I'll kiss you because I feel like I would kill. Yeah. She doesn't roast me on the spot. I would do the same. Cause, I'm gonna let Sigil and Taryn have it. I don't want no parts. Don't roast me, please. Alright, before we close our episode today, time to spar. So each week, Mackenzie and I will give each other and our listeners two trivia questions. At the end of our fourth wing coverage, at the end of our five episodes, we'll tally up who has the most points. Between host and loser, we'll have to do something embarrassing or funny that the winner or you guys as fans suggest. So we would love to hear your feedback, ideas, and participation in this section. And just a reminder, the current score, I have one and a half points and Mackenzie has two. So she's in the lead for now. I'm not gonna say anything because it could easily change, so I'm just gonna. Except my lips. Probably you're smart. Alright, hit me. I'm ready. Alright, how many people or cadets broke into Violet's room? Was that including Amber? I don't know. Seven? It wasn't a specific number. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Including every yes. Okay. Gotcha bitch! Okay. Alright. What is the name of the cadet who manifested his signet in the middle of Carr's class and burst into flames? Super weird name too. Freak. I don't know. Mushin Betty. Yep, nope, wasn't gonna get that. What kind of name is that, first of all? I remember that! That's like the worst name I've ever heard, actually. Yeah. Mushin what? Yeah, I would just, uh, yeah, no. What was Amber Mavis's dragon name? Klaid. Fuck, okay. I'm talking about questions pretty easy. Yeah, you went easy on me today. You've been giving me, historical questions. Did you feel bad? I was trying to get questions that were, like, hot and in plain sight. I should, I gotta stop asking you names cause you look up literally the meaning of every name. I'm pretty good with names. I'm not going to lie. Usually it's the numbers that get me or like dates or something. I don't know why I'm giving you this information. I'm definitely keeping this for future reference. You should not have said that. Okay. All right. In the squad battle, what does the squad from first wing steal and present? An egg? Well, oh wait, no, I'm thinking I'm too far ahead. I'm rereading and I was thinking about mentally I was I was thinking about the other battle the work the war games Okay, wait, what is first? Um I'm trying to remember who brought what? We're the only ones that brought the scribe out of his sleep. No, wait, wait Oh, okay. I'll give you for your second guess. You only get half a point. Okay. Okay. Um, Freak, I literally remember this. I don't remember. God, just give it to me. It was Professor Kaori's handwritten manual on the personal habits and flaws of all active dragons. I do remember that scene. I only remember the scribe from that scene. I was gonna do the scribe one, and then I was like, no, I'll do this one. Cool. Okay. Look at you coming back. Well, it's not over. There's still two more episodes, so. And I got overly confident in Quicksilver. And then he whooped my ass on the last episode. So anything. All right. So the current score after today's is I have 3. 5 and Kenzie has two. So it's still a tight race. Be prepared. That's what I'm going to say. I remember Amber's dragon's name. Cause on the dramaticized audio book, when she's about to die, she's like, ew, I thought it was more of like a cry. Yeah. She just sounds very whiny. I think I overdramaticized, yeah. I overdramaticized and romanticized the audio book. Alright. That's a wrap folks. for tuning in to our coverage of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yaros.
