I am the American Dream: Be Brave to Be Different
We want to hear from you. Send us a message.
In this episode, I have a conversation with Chu Tang, author of "I am the American Dream: Be Brave to Be Different".
Chu shares her extraordinary journey of surviving three communist countries. She recounts her childhood in Cambodia, the traumatic separation from her parents during the Khmer Rouge regime, and her harrowing escape from Vietnam as a boat refugee. She discusses her eventual reunification with her mother after 14 years, her pursuit of the American dream through education at UC Berkeley, graduating in four years, and becoming the first college graduate in the 19 generations of her family tree. We also discuss her career in visual effects at Pixar. Throughout the conversation, Chu emphasizes the importance of freedom, resilience, and never giving up on one's dreams despite overwhelming adversity.
