 When teaching gets overwhelming, it helps to step back and focus on what’s most important. Executive functioning—the skills that help us manage daily life—comes down to four main elements: organization, time management, memory, and attention. As teachers, we use these constantly, whether it’s keeping materials in order, pacing lessons, remembering dozens of details, or staying focused in the middle of distractions.
