2 Samuel  1:14 So David said to him, "How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?"

2 Samuel 4:9-10 But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all adversity, when someone told me, saying, 'Look, Saul is dead,' thinking to have brought good news, I arrested him and had him executed in Ziklag-the one who thought I would give him a reward for his news.

And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Colliervillle Church of Christ.

There's a lesson for us in 2 Samuel, Chapter one. A man comes to David seeking a reward. He claims to have killed Saul on the battlefield.

He claims to have been the one who killed the king who was trying to kill David. And he thought David would like this... But David didn't, because we read that David will command this individual to be executed and will say,

Your blood is on your own head for your own mouth has testified against you, saying I have killed the Lord's anointed.

As far as David was concerned, it was up to God. What would happen with Saul was not up to this man who took the actions into his own hands
