How can you recognize a true godly leader? In 2 Corinthians 1, Paul says he is an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God. His calling is demonstrated through his willingness to suffer, serve others, follow the Spirit, and remain faithful to his word.

Paul explains that God comforts us in our tribulation so that we can share that same comfort with others. The Christian life is not about using faith to make this life more comfortable. It is about denying ourselves, putting the needs of others first, and following the example of Jesus.

In this teaching from 2 Corinthians 1, David examines:

Why Paul’s suffering confirmed his calling
How God uses our tribulation to help others
Why Christian faith points toward our future hope
What Jesus teaches us about forgiveness and being unoffendable
How to recognize a true godly leader
Why believers must be led by the Spirit
The spiritual importance of keeping our word

A true godly leader is not defined by ambition, inheritance, eloquence, financial success, or personal recognition. Godly leadership is revealed through obedience to God and a willingness to suffer for the benefit of the people being served.
