Our construction industry is facing many challenges in meeting its obligation to deliver economic, sustainable projects. Many of these challenges require an evolution of our culture that changes our priorities. Other challenges require a wholesale re-think of how we recruit, train and manage our human resource if we are to tackle the sustainability issues head on.
Ele George of Elevate FBE is one of the industry’s warriors, fighting on the front line to improve diversity, sustainability and social value whilst keeping construction profitable and attractive to our new entrants. Ele talks about the challenges with retro-fit (or renovation as she wishes to more accurately call it), the diversity within the industry, the application of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and leadership within the sector. Her broad experience across the sector, coupled with overseas experience makes her insights and call to arms, relevant to all of us.
