Further Education Colleges are now scored by OFSTED against their employer engagement. This is designed to encourage them to bridge the gap between education and employment that their students must negotiate. It also allows employers to inform and support courses and students in which they have a vested interest. Sean Houlston, Head of Membership and Digital Services of the National Federation of Builders has been covering this area for the members of the NFB and is also a non-executive Board member of Reaseheath College in Cheshire. This has given Sean a great insight into the opportunities for employers within education, which Sean sees through the lens of an employer.
Listen to Sean to better understand the relationship between education and employment and the issues that employers of all size and trade need to resolve if they are to recruit the best and secure the future of their businesses.
