Construction is a people industry, directly employing over 2M people, with many more in allied and servicing sectors. Changes in recent employment legislation, changes in employment practices and winds of change in society at large mean that employers must prepare for a changing employment environment. Indeed, as technology becomes ever more available, those who employ the doers within the industry may well hold the upper hand.
Vaughan Hart is the Director for Employment at the National Federation of Builders and a businessman. He has spent his working career in employment law and guidance, earning him the ability to foresee changes in practices and pressures to meet the changing construction landscape. He chats to Mark about solutions to the pressures on employers, the role of unions under a new Labour Government and the professionalisation of the sector.
