DINO HAYES
DINO HAYES and Bruce Lee's JKD
In this episode, Keith and Lee chat with Dino Hayes a respected instructor of Bruce Lee's fighting form called Jee Kune Do. While many people are familiar with Karate, Taekwondo and Judo etc, far less known is Bruce's martial art Jeet Kune Do - or JKD. When developing JKD, Bruce, guided by the influence of Taoist philosophy and the Wing Chun style of gung fu, shaped his martial art to be fluid and adaptive to the circumstances of the moment. Unlike Karate and Taekwondo, for example, which are based on set forms, JKD's openness allows the practitioner to incorporate other fighting forms into Jeet Kune Do according to whatever situation presents itself. Bruce taught Jeet Kune Do to very few. When he did, Bruce strongly emphasised that JKD's adaptive philosophy could be applied to many of life's challenges. Dino Hayes has devoted his life to teaching JKD and living it.
