SPEAKER_00

The following podcast is intended for mature audiences. Discretion is advised. We are two idiots, so please take everything we say with a interesting. Where we discuss festivals, games, music, and everything else in between. I'm here with my co-host Damon. That's me. And I'm, of course, Neil. So firstly, dude, how's things been? Not too bad. Not too bad. Not too bad. Yourself? Yeah. Not bad, not bad. Just chilling. Work's coming back in now finally. It's been dead the past few weeks, so it's uh kind of starting to slowly roll back in and get back to some sense of normality for the back end of the year, but uh yes. Nearly there, it's not too far now until my buff day. So not too bad. I think there's a fly in here. There's a fly in here. La fly! Alright, well. No, it should be fine. It's fine. So yeah, that's kind of what's been guaning with me.

SPEAKER_01

Cool.

SPEAKER_00

So, anything else you would like to add, or would you just want to get straight into the filth?

SPEAKER_01

Um let's jump in the deep end. Let's get some let's get filthy.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so as we said we would do, uh, we're gonna discuss uh potential line-ups, what we reckon should be at download for next year. So each of us have kind of gone for what we think the vibe is gonna be like, um, and what we think the bands are gonna be. Mine's more of a what I want to think. Yeah, yours is what I want, mine's more of a tactical what they probably will put on, or what it might look like.

SPEAKER_01

Mine was half past four in the morning. Yeah, that that's my vibe.

SPEAKER_00

Let's yeah, let's add that to the list. To be fair, the fact that I got two of the headliners correct for last year, you know, I'm quite I I think I've got some pretty strong headliners. You reckon that they might pick them or just strong in general?

SPEAKER_01

Especially because it's like anniversaries.

SPEAKER_00

Good good point, yeah. It's your anniversaries. It's it's very I've got a couple based off of anniversaries as well. So two two in particular. Um but I will let Damon take the reins on this one. And this is the first time, by the way, that I've seen or heard what he's picked. Yeah, I've not even showed him yet. So do you want to start from the bottom stage or do you want to start straight at the top?

SPEAKER_01

Um up to you.

SPEAKER_00

I reckon go straight at the top first. Are we going hit by day or hit by the day? Hit me by day. Hit me by day. So start on a Friday and work through.

SPEAKER_01

So you say top or bottom? Top. Top. Straight top headliner go. Friday, main stage, green day. Ooh, okay. That was the that's anniversary. That's what I'm talking about. See, Nikki said this as well. Yeah, because we were wrecking Green Day. Because we thought these might have been the secret set. We did actually, we did say it might be green day. But in the like in the last podcast, you were saying that don't tend to be on the main stage.

SPEAKER_02

No, they don't.

SPEAKER_01

So that's kind of a kick to the balls. So that's who I've got for my uh main. Followed by Disturbed. Because I feel like disturbed need needs something because they haven't.

SPEAKER_00

Disturbed were at 23 and they were fucking sick. There you go. Let's bring her back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that'd be nice.

SPEAKER_00

Bring up disturbed.

SPEAKER_01

Then I've got a day to remember.

SPEAKER_00

Interesting. Yeah. Interesting because I got them online as well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I wasn't sure if I was gonna put main stage or second stage. I feel like they're uh they're not as heavy, so they're gonna be possibly main stage because they have more of a following.

SPEAKER_00

I think I think you pretty much bob on with that. I would have put them on main.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Followed by one of your favourites, Van Halen.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, actual Van Halen. Yeah, actual Van Halen. I don't know how they're gonna do that though, because Wolfe could do it, but I don't think he will. I think they'll just leave that where it was. Yeah. I don't know if they do, and plus if it's Van Halen, it's got a headline not being funny.

SPEAKER_01

And then we go to a bit more of um bit more nostalgia of simple plan.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh, I'd be there for that.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Good Charlotte.

unknown

Oh yes.

SPEAKER_01

Then Paramour. Ooh. Is this along the main stage? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

That is my Friday main stage.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like that is pretty much a solid lineup. That does sound tasty. Because you've got your new stuff with a bit of old and a bit of nostalgia.

SPEAKER_00

Shall I do my main stage? Yeah, let's do your main stage. So on the Friday, my headliner is Death Leopard. Interesting, yes. I've said Death Leopard because bear in mind mine's less what I would want to see, what I think they probably will book it like. Yeah. Death Leopard haven't done it for a while. And I feel like because Avenged were the band who weren't the new headliner last year, they were one of the older bands, but I think they would go for a band who hasn't done it for a while that would keep the old guard happy. No, I'm gonna probably get slanked for this, but I don't like Iron Maiden. I'm not keen on that band. I've tried, but to me, once you've heard one maiden song, you've kinda heard them all. Yeah, yeah. They're all very similar, samey same. I'd see them once. Uh yeah, I'd like if they were on, I'd see them, but I wouldn't stay for the whole set. I'd go for maybe a couple songs and then leave. Yeah. Because I'd just be like, yeah, I'm not really that keen on them. It depends on who's Yeah, like don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against anyone in the band. Like Bruce Dickinson absolutely kicked cancer's ass fair play. Yeah. Just not my thing. Yeah. Just not my thing. I'm not keen on him. So to fill that void, I would say Def Leopard, because it's a classic. I could imagine everyone singing pour some sugar on me, as I'm sure they did in the past when they've had like before. Bring them back, it makes sense. And I've gone for more of a isn't that White Snake or Martin Craig? No, that's Def Leopard, mate.

SPEAKER_01

Eh. Yeah. Okay. That's Def Leopard, bro. Um speaking of that, is two good bands.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I don't think Whitesnake will, because David Coverdale's like Mesozoic at this point.

SPEAKER_01

So sticking with some drugs who you're on.

SPEAKER_00

Just pump him full of ketamine. That's it. Put him on the top.

SPEAKER_01

It's more tranquiling.

SPEAKER_00

So the next band that I've got supporting Deflected is Ghost. Yes. No, the reason why I put Ghost as a support headliner is because they haven't released a new album. They have done that film thing that they did recently and it was teased at download.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Now, the last time they teased a band at download, it was Queens of the Stone Age, and they ended up headlining. So they could potentially headline, but I know that the download guys look for a new album or sold-out stadium shows, and those two right there would definitely sell out. So I think Ghost. I have Ghost on my list. Oh yeah. And I do mainstage. Okay. We'll get to where because we've both got one of each other's at this point. So Ghost is the band that I've put before them because I feel like they would be a good hype up to Steel Panther. Um, sorry, to Def Leopard. Yeah. I've just spoiled it. The band before Ghost would be Steel Panther because it'd be fucking hilarious. And I've seen them before. Excellent. Great Mind Stinker like. I've put them on before Ghost. Purely because I think the humour would lead quite well into the whole show. So the vibe that I've got for the first day, if you haven't picked it out already, is old school vibe. So the main stage is very like old school bands that are very, you know, what with the time. But the only band that I've got for the fourth spot, because I couldn't think of any others to follow, is Mammoth. Now Mammoth did play in 2023, and it's Eddie Van Halen's son. So again, similar thought process. Yeah. But if he absolutely killed it, absolutely killed it on that day, like that first day when I because I hadn't really heard of who it was, and then Chris was like, Oh, it's Eddie's son. So I was like, right, I'm going immediately. Jesus Christ. Like, you know, I love Mammoth. Like one of my favourite bands now, off the back of scene of a download, but great band, great musician, humble dude. I think that would be a nice warm-up to get into Steel Panther, who funnily enough started as a Van Halen cover band. Not many people know that though. That's how they started. So that is my Friday main stage so far. So basically, as I mentioned, just I haven't filled it all the way back down because I kind of run out of where I thought it would go. So I kind of was like, this is where it can kind of go. So I might update this closer to the festival being announced, just as a little reminder, I'll hearken back to this and kind of keep an eye on what's going on. So with that, I'm gonna hand back over to Damon for his second stage headliners and whatnot. Okay. Let's get disgusting. Oh god, here we go.

SPEAKER_01

Number one. Mastodon. Ooh. Good show. I don't know if I call them. I don't think they're gonna go main stage. No, they wouldn't go main. So I'm thinking second stage because I don't want them in the dog tails, but it's gonna be too small. And like I said in the last um episode, that's that needs to be larger. So that's where I'm putting them. It would be so good. Then followed by Steel Panther.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

That is where I'm putting put them over there. Followed by Jimmy E Twell. Good shame. And the Return of Hanabi. The return of Hannibal on the second stage. Yeah. Okay. And then L'Episte de la Resistance.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Hawthorne Highlights.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Interesting. Okay, I could see that kind of working. Mmm.

SPEAKER_02

Hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Brings a tear to my eye. Any more on that list? That is what I've got for that stage. There is no extra option to add onto this poster.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna. You're gonna see what I've done here. So the main stage for this is more classic 80s theatrical rock. Yeah. Now the second stage, I've gone for Megadeth as the headliner for the second stage, Megadave. Because he hasn't done it for a while. Yeah. Followed by Trivium as a support for Megadave. I have Trivium in mind somewhere. Yeah. Then followed by Anthrax. Yeah. And before that, Silosis. Yeah. Coming into that because I know Josh has gone back to Silosis and has left um architects. So I think that would round out quite a nice heavy thrashy. Yep. To study. To split the crowds. So you can go, you can either go for your 80s hairmel theatrical stuff, or you can come get your balls blown off by a shitload of thrash metal. Now that might be more of a bloodstock lineup, but I think that would quell the people moaning heavier in the it would kind of kill that dead because it goes right. You wanted heavy bouncer, you fucking go. Yeah. Take them. So that makes sense to me as the second. So who's your headliner for the third and the fourth stage as we'll do these two together?

SPEAKER_01

So for the Krang stage Rage Against.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. They were there this year on second.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'll put them over there.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, interesting.

SPEAKER_01

With uh while she's uh sleeping the sirens. Because I was trying to think what who a Krang gonna wanna Signor Squeak, as I used to call it. And hailstorm. You put hailstorm in a tent. Yeah, I know. I know. That's what they put busted in the tent. Well, yeah, I can't really argue without they did. And then you're gonna love this.

SPEAKER_00

Please, okay, before I hear this, if it's a death metal stage, and I know you and you like to cause chaos, despite what you just said earlier in the last podcast, which was that bands like Parkway Drive and that shouldn't be on small stages. No, I'm gonna guess that you've put.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna show them why they shouldn't have such small tents.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So if you've done that then, it's gotta be. It's either gotta be Slaughter to Prevail or Lorna Shaw that you've put here. Lorna Shaw. Cool. I know I know you two fucking well. Yep. Lorna Shaw. Yep. Crystal Lake, bring them back. Oh my god, everyone's gonna die in that test, mate. Suicide silence. Holy shit, okay. Yeah, you're really going for it, bro. Nice one.

SPEAKER_01

And I think this will start at six o'clock in the morning. Jesus Christ, bro. That is what I've got. You're gonna love the day two. I just okay, fair enough. Day two's gonna be like I need more, I need copies of myself.

SPEAKER_00

So Lord of Shore are on mine. Yep. Um, so for the third stage headliner, the Kerrang, yeah, I've gone for holding absence. Yeah. Because they deserve a headliner spot, in my opinion. Agree. And for the headliner on the metal stage, Diala's Murder. Yeah. Put them on there because that's more of a nail pick, though, because they're the band over the Metallica I've seen the most. Yeah, yeah. Enjoy them. For that, if I was gonna add on to it now, I'd probably say put Suicide Silence on there as well, and maybe Whitechapel, quit chapel, just to kind of build the classic day of like the classic. So you got your classic rock stuff, your thrash metal, your poppy stuff, yeah, and you rip your fucking face off desk core stage. So that rounds out my Friday. Sweet. So, do you want to do your Saturday headliner?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you've already mentioned a couple that are in my list.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So, anyway, headliner for Saturday. Bring me. Oh, bro, we're on the same page. Bring me the rising. They're on a line. Followed by a bullet. Oh bro, what the fuck? You're literally similar to mine. Yeah, it's got to be bringing. Dude, you'll love my you'll love my Sunday. Followed by corn.

SPEAKER_00

Oh god, you put another on there as well.

SPEAKER_01

Followed by Avatar. Oh juicy. Sleep token.

SPEAKER_00

Oh bro, another one that I've put in as well.

SPEAKER_01

Death Tones. Oh bro, another one. Ghost. That is my entire list for that main stage. That is dirty.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That is dirty. That that should be made. That should be banned. That lineup right there should be banned. That's disgusting.

SPEAKER_01

Well, so you get the hexagonal stage where it's just you inside of a hexagon of stages.

SPEAKER_00

All over play at the same time. Mate, I think I would just come and die at the same time. Yeah. Shit, man. Right. That's your main stage. That is my main stage. So my main stage is you'll like this. You'll like mine. Parquet is the headliners. Nice. Because they did the secret set. Yeah. They did secret the year before. They need the main stage. They need the main stage, so give it to Parquay. Let them do it.

SPEAKER_01

I know a lot of people aren't. I mean you could argue Opus.

SPEAKER_00

No. Put them on main because they were a support last year. Okay. They supported um. Who was it? They supported Bring Me, I think they were on before Bring Me. Okay. I think, yeah. Yeah, they were on before Bring Me. Oh, were they? Yeah, they were because we went off to see Ghost. Okay. Before they finished. So put Parkway on the main stage, give them a headline slot, give them a chance. Yeah. Next, a day to remember. Nice. As their support, but this can be changed with the one below. Falling in reverse, I've put on there. Um and underneath that I've got electric callboy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Before fall in reverse, because I think that would be quite a good build-up to the headliner. I'm on a similar page. Go on.

SPEAKER_01

What's your opus? Opus cake. Falling in reverse.

SPEAKER_00

Nice.

SPEAKER_01

Electric callboy. Again, nice. For some reason they've got sleeve token again.

SPEAKER_00

Get them to play twice.

SPEAKER_01

Why not? Band Made. Which I don't think you know of. They're a Japanese band.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've not heard of that before.

SPEAKER_01

But I'll show you a bit uh they're pretty good. Check them out. Band Made. They come out dressed as uh mates.

SPEAKER_00

Is that your heavy song of the week recommendation, is it? Give them yeah, give them a go.

SPEAKER_01

They're pretty good. I'll give them a tiple. In fact, you know what? I'm gonna I'm gonna swap my second sleep token for um this band that I've been listening to called uh OK Rock, I think they're called.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've heard of them.

SPEAKER_01

Which are pretty good.

SPEAKER_00

I think you showed me that not showing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they've got like an arena vibe. Okay. And then followed by We're the Kings.

SPEAKER_00

We're the Kings.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. That's good.

SPEAKER_00

Oh so mine, I put them in the wrong order, so I'll read it in the order that I would now do it in. Yeah. Deft Tones and my headliners for the Opus Stage on the second day. Spirit Box. Yeah, I was thinking Spirit Box. Supporting them. I didn't actually put them in. Because they're quite big at the moment. Yeah, yeah. And then a classic, one of my personal favourite bands from my childhood, Alien Antfarm. Yeah. I love Alien Antfarm, so I would put them in that spot as the third.

SPEAKER_01

So funny enough, I did not actually put them in my list.

SPEAKER_00

Did you not?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

No, fair enough. So do you want to do your third and fourth stage headliners? Yeah. Cool then. Are you ready?

SPEAKER_01

I am ready. Kids in glass houses.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, good shame.

SPEAKER_01

They're pretty reckless. Fair. Best of all.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh. I see. I see your comfort food, good sense. That's that's good. That's gonna be a juicy, juicy tent. They're not gonna draw some shot, man.

SPEAKER_01

It's almost like Krang's gone good again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Now that they've closed down the fucking channel. Can't believe they did that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Bring back scus.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, bring back screw me.

SPEAKER_01

Scuzz was I I had an idea of starting a Kickstarter of starting my own channel. Bring back SCUS. I'm just gonna literally bring back the best of it all. SCUS Reborn. Yeah. It's gonna be like old school MTV mixed with SCUS and Kerrang.

SPEAKER_00

That's dirty.

SPEAKER_01

It was so good. That was dirty. Yeah. Okay, and who's your fourth? Dog Tooth? So we're going ginger valid. I prevail. You prevail? Of mice and men.

SPEAKER_02

Nice.

SPEAKER_00

So I went third stage, Corey Taylor, because it's Kerrang.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then for my headliner for the dog 2 stage, it would be Lorna Fucking Shaw.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Again, similar vibe to what you said, but I think considering they put in stupidly heavy bands on small stages, fuck it, we'll do that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So then, sir, your Sunday headliner and main stage, if you will. Big four letter word. Corn. Tool. Ooh, okay. Tool. Tool. Interesting. Trivium. Before tool. After.

SPEAKER_01

Tool the headliner.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay, so they'd be playing before tool and uh in no order.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but other than the main being tool. Oh, you know, you could you could play around with it, but that's what I've got. Um followed by Lamb of God. Oh yeah, a little bit of log. Mm-hmm. Puppa Roach. Lacuna coil. Nice. Muse.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

The darkness.

SPEAKER_00

Nice. Right.

SPEAKER_01

So this day I want to be a bit last day, a bit more of a chill with a bit of energy somewhere in the middle.

SPEAKER_00

I like. So mine is completely the opposite to what you've done. The headliner is Bring Me the Horizon. Yeah. The support for Bring Me the Horizon is none other than Sleep Token. Yeah. The band supporting Sleep Token is Bullet from Valentine. And the next band is a band we both absolutely love. Played the second stage last year.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Soft play.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, they're in my list somewhere as well.

SPEAKER_00

Architects are following them as well. So that rounds out my final day main stage. We're not far off. Are we not?

SPEAKER_01

We're not far off. So do you want to do your second stage? Yep. Asking Alexandria. Okay. Soft play. Excellent. Neck deep.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I forgot about fucking neck deep. Oh, how could I forgot about neck deep to put them on the right? I'm going to put them on the Saturday before Alien Ant4.

SPEAKER_01

Then busted. Because they get the larger stage.

SPEAKER_00

You put busted on again. Have I put busted on?

SPEAKER_01

Did I put busted on? No, they're nowhere next. That is busted only in my list there. There's nowhere else. Yeah, that's right. Busted are only in this list. I just think the last stage of the play last in 2014 was too small. So put them on a larger stage. Then architects.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That is that. Fizz. So mine, because Andy Coppin said next time they come, they'll play as a headliner. But he didn't say if they'd play as a headliner on the main stage or the second stage. Let Biscuit. Yes. Come back again. Hang on, I've just lost the fucking thing. But the one beneath that was corn. Nice. That I had. Then Lamb of God. That's what I put. I couldn't really think of many others that I would because I was trying to think about who would be good leading into who. Yeah, yeah. Um, so do you want to do your third and four stages?

SPEAKER_01

Sure. Um, so we got August Burns Red. Nice choice. Yellow card. Okay. What if I August Burns Red again?

unknown

Double.

SPEAKER_00

So playing two sets go as well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know what happened there. So I don't know. I must have this delirious time, that's why you put them in twice. I think I put somebody there who I didn't want to put in the in the logo spot where you had to fill out text in the other boxes. So I'll put them down below and I wanted someone else to headline, but I can't remember now. Um, but for the next stage, I've got Whitechapel. Nice, Black Dahlia. Oh Sharon.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh.

SPEAKER_01

Dirty. It's gonna wreck someone's asshole that day.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna swap my two. Yeah. Because it makes more sense too. For the Kerrang stage, I'm gonna go Ice Nine Kills. And for the dog tooth, I'm gonna go testament for the last day headliner. So that's that's kind of rounds out my prediction. Okay. I do have Nikki's prediction as well. Oh yeah. The wife, which is a bit more rounded out, but I think she nicked this from somewhere, but I think she's only made one tweak to it. Okay. So for her Friday headliner, she put originally she put Fru Fighters in there, but I think she changed it to Green Day, like yourself. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then she's gone bullet and trivium, then she's gone baby metal again, yeah, airborne. I had a feeling airborne, fuzzy, bleed from within, yeah. Then on the second stage, she's got Papa Roach headlining with Askin, Skillet, and Rain City Drive. Okay. Then on the Kerrang stage, she's got Hollywood and Dead. Yeah. And then she's got Evil Scarecrow headlining the dog tooth. She's put Maiden as the headliner for the Saturday because she thinks they're gonna play. She's convinced they're gonna play. Parkway Drive as a follow-on, within Temptation, In This Moment, Body Count and Ice T. Yeah, Cold Chamber, Lord Moedeath, then for the headliner, she's gone for the second stage. She's gone Sabaton, followed by Arch Enemy, Drowning Pool, Magnolia Park. Okay. That's what she's done for second. Third, she's gone Avril Levine. Yeah, that's possible. See that. And then Behemoth as the headliner for the small stage, but I don't think that would be the case because they did play mainstage in 23. I feel like dumb bugger much show. Yeah, maybe. Ronald McDonald's Hamburg ear, as I call. Uh Saturday, sorry, Sunday, she's gone. My chemical romance is the headliner. I was thinking that, but they got booed off last time they were there, so I honestly do not think they'll come back. Then she went fall in reverse. Yeah. Then she's on Black Veil Prize. Yeah. Electric Call Boy. Slaughter to Prevail. Non-Point. Dead by April. Yeah. And then for the headliners for the next stage, I think she put two in at the same point because she's saying they could go either way. Five Finger Death Punches Headliner. Supported by In This Moment, but she put In This Moment on the Saturday. So I think she's saying they could go in either spot.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um Citizen Soldier. Sleeping with Sirens for the headliner for Kerrang. Yeah. And in Flames for the Dog Tooth. Okay. That's what she's gone for on those.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. So I was going through and I was thinking, we haven't got a lot of female bands. No. So that's why I went with saying like Paramour, Pre-Reckless.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I did this, bear mine. I did this before I had chance to think. And before I had chance to.

SPEAKER_01

Has there been any female mainstage headliners?

SPEAKER_00

Good question. There has been on the second stage. Who's there has been? I think Evanescents are the ones who are Evanescence. They're fucking heavy live, bro. Jesus Christ. I didn't think they would be, but they were. Now, knowing what I know now and collecting everybody's ideas, I've tweaked it slightly, and I want to know if you agree with the headliners. We're only going to discuss the headliners. I'm not going to go into everyone under the undercar. I'm just going to discuss headliners for second and main. Yeah. So for main stage, I think if we're not going off personal opinion and we go purely off of speculation, Green Day. I agree with you on Green Day.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like Green Day will 100% under the. Green Day should do it. Is there either going to be a Thursday? Is it Friday, Saturday or Sunday you've got? Either the second or the last day. Yeah. I don't think there'll be like first day.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

I think they're going to be in the same kind of position of avenge.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think it's got to be like a spectacle thing. So I do agree that Green Day more than likely will headline it. Because I know that Billy has been saying that he really liked the UK.

SPEAKER_01

You know who missed off? He's also having an anniversary. Slipknot.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think I'll do it.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

No. I think Slipknot will be the year after. Okay. Purely because they did last year. Yeah. Not 2024, they'll be a year before. So 2023 they did it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So they might be back for 25. Because they are 2025. 26.

SPEAKER_00

I reckon it'd be 26, they'll come back. Okay. That's what I reckon. I reckon they'll be at 26. For the rest, bring me the horizon. Definitely will do it again. Oh yeah. It makes sense to bring them back to do it again. If he comes, would Youngblood follow? That could be interesting. I would, I would don't crucify me, everyone listening. I would be open for that. If Youngblood did play, I would be open for that. That would be quite interesting because Diane would have done it before. Yeah. So there's been weird ones that you wouldn't think would work that have worked, but I think Youngblood could work quite well.

SPEAKER_01

Because if he shows up, um, if Bring shows up, Youngblood shows up, Baby Mill shows up, Electric Call Boy shows up. That is a lot of cross songs that could be potentially played.

SPEAKER_00

Speaking of cross things now, this is purely. I don't know if this is true, so you're gonna hear this here first. And I did put it in the deer download chat a few weeks ago. Probably about a few months ago now, by the time this comes out. So Fred, his brother, knows a guy who is one of the techs for Bullets from a Valentine, and apparently the bass player said to his tech that they are headlining download. Now, keep that in mind. Yeah, Andy Copping also said on another podcast for an interview, I can't remember where the source was, that he has booked a co-headliner for next year. Now, what band is doing a co-headlined tour that I'm going to see next year? Bullet and trivium because it's it's the I think it's what the 20 20-year anniversary of the poison and ascendancy. Now, if that's the case, that would be the spectacle of the weekend, so that should be on the Saturday, yeah, in my opinion. And if they are gonna do it, they could quite well pull off, but I reckon it would be a second stage thing, it wouldn't be a main stage thing. Okay, it could be a main stage thing if Bullet had more numbers to them, but Bullet doesn't have as much pull as Trivium does, yeah. So I reckon probably gonna be second stage headliner on the Saturday. So we've covered the Sunday, which is Green Day, yeah. Bring me, which I reckon will be the Saturday headliner on the main stage. Saturday, I think it's gonna be the co-headliner of Bullet Trivium.

SPEAKER_01

There is one band that could have potentially replaced Bad Omen and so we've missed off.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, Funeral for a friend did it, didn't know it. Yeah, who's thinking, guys?

SPEAKER_01

What was that got our computer here? Anyway skindred. Yes, no, he said he really wanted to fill that spot.

SPEAKER_00

He did. Now I think Skindred might headline second, and I reckon they'd probably do it on the Friday. Possibly because, and the reason why I say the Friday is because I know Skindred do a lot of other festivals, so if they do it first on a Friday, yeah, clears them up for the rest of the weekend schedule if they've got any other festivals they need to get to. Yeah. Now we've covered the Sunday and the Saturday main stage headliners, and the Saturday and the Friday second stage headliners. So what do you think for the rest?

SPEAKER_01

The reason why I put um Steel Panther on the second stage is because it's a lot more personal, you're closer to them. True, but last time I saw them at Download, they were on Main.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but and it was it was crazy, like it went off. But the reason why I wouldn't put them as a headliner, I don't think they've got the pull for that crowd. Probably not now. Because you've got to think about who's gonna parody kind of band feel to them. Yeah, who's gonna pull it in? Now, I as much as I would love to see Corn at download, I don't think they're gonna do it purely because I know Jonathan Davis is going through a lot of shit. So I don't think they're gonna be in the running. Yep. As much as I would like them to be, they won't be. So, with that in mind, for the Sunday second stage slot, I propose Deft Tones. Yeah. That's that's what I would say is the safe bit because a lot of Gen Z are getting into Deft Tones now for some reason. I don't know where this has come from, but they are so that would pull in the younger crowd, which is what they'll want. Yeah, and if you've got Bring Me the Eyes in there as well, it's a bit of a no-brainer. You you attract in the younger kids who want to be there. So would you agree with that? Which day was this? This is the Sunday. Sunday, Deftones on the Sunday as a second stage headliner. Um because if we've got Saturdays, Bullet and Trivia. Yeah. Possibly. And that leaves the Friday. No, the Friday, who are we picking for the Friday headliner?

SPEAKER_02

Who would you say?

SPEAKER_01

Maybe see I I I could picture Rage against the machine on that stage. Yeah, but they're broke up, mate. Pulling that together. I don't think that's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_00

Um could be good. Think of a band that's not done it before and has got pull. Nick D. I don't think they could headline, mate. Muse. Muse could headline, I think they've done it before actually. Ghost. A lot of people are saying ghost now. Ghosts are the only one that I would say. Paramour. Maybe. I don't know if Paramour will do.

SPEAKER_01

It's one of them, it's hard to picture will they have enough craid on the main stage or I think ghost.

SPEAKER_00

Ghost. Ghost. Yeah. As much as I would like it to be Parkway. Ghosts headline the second stage last year in 2023. Yeah. So I think it makes sense to miss a year and bump them up. Yeah, possibly, yeah, yeah. So that could be the potential headliners. I think I think that is a safe net to cast because we covered pretty much most bases in there. Yeah. So I think that's a good shame. Now we'll carry on. We mentioned about the toilets last year and things like that. Now I wanted to talk about the actual campsite. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna quickly pull up a map um of download from last year and discuss the map itself because I think it was a bit meh in terms of how they actually did it. Like I think it was definitely very meh.

SPEAKER_01

But as a graphic designer, I couldn't redesign it to be much better.

SPEAKER_00

Well, me too, because that's what we both do, both graphic designers. But looking at this as it is right now, so one of the things that I didn't get looking at the map. Now, obviously, there's a whole parking debacle that I mentioned.

SPEAKER_01

There's no way Black Camp is half the size of the arena.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it was it was a decent size, it wasn't that big, but like literally, we're good we're nitpicking now. You're nitpicking the scales. I get why you're doing it. What I would do, okay, now this is this is for next year because what I would do with the festival is I would argue that instead of having all the bands here in the arena where we've now made it, why don't they split it? So you've got two stages here in the arena, make the arena a little bit smaller, so you cut off where the stages are here, yeah, and this will solve your stage problem. Put five stages on and put it back in the racetrack for those other stages. The smaller stages are in the racetrack, because then you've got the old download, yeah, mixed with the new download of how it was and how it is. So you've got one that's more like for your smaller bands, you're up and covers in the racetrack, and then you've got your main arena stuff in here, so you can flip between the two. So you walk in, and there's like an entrance sort of where it curves into that sort of main straight from the racetrack, where towards where the showers are, that's where everything is, and then you have like your food stores on the inside, yeah. Do it that way. That's what I think they should do in the future. But I have to say it now because if I don't say it now, not for next year, but in the future, it just makes more sense because then you can open up another walkway that then leads off into the top campsites, like your red, your purple, your orange, and your green that goes straight off up into those guys. So then anyone who's got to do that long fucking trek back, if they're already in there, they haven't got as far to go because then it's fair for both. Because at the moment, if you were like we are in black and blue and that, yeah, you ain't got far to go compared to the guys who are going to the other car park. So I think it then adds a sense of fairness to it. Where if you want to see bands in the main stage, you've got a bit of a trek if you're in red camp. If you want to see bands that are inside the racetrack, you've got a fair trek to get back to black camp or blue camp, for example. Yeah, so I think that's probably the fair solution for that idea. But what do you think to that? Because I think that would be quite cool, because then you're you're making it more of a spectacle like Glastonbury is because Glastonbury has got a lot on, was down low, it did last year, but obviously it rained. But if they're gonna ramp it up and make it bigger, they need to go extra with it. And I think that's the way around it. What do you think?

SPEAKER_01

Personally, the Kerrang stage is in a place which is very hard to access.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

So why don't they fill that up with the food stalls? Put toilets at uh behind behind that stage. Yeah. Well front in front of it, but right at the back wall. Because it's easier act easier access.

SPEAKER_00

So kind of make this sort of highway area here like a mini grill. A mini foodery area. A mini one of them. Yeah, so that you are like a second sort of district X, but it's in the actual arena. District 9. I think that's why they called it District X, they couldn't call it District 9.

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah, I'll do something like that.

SPEAKER_00

See, I agree. I think that's a good show. Because if you get rid of that stage and you get rid of the second stage here, or the third, sorry, the third, the third and fourth stage, if you remove them. I made that stage bigger. Yeah, the middle stage. Or that. Make it bigger. Yeah. Get rid of that one, and then put another two stages in the racetrack. Doesn't have to be the whole racetrack, just the half of it in that main run there. Yeah. And then you've got like area for food and stuff, just put your bars around the outside and then in fact do it that way.

SPEAKER_01

If they rotate the apex stage, so it points towards the crank.

SPEAKER_00

You've got that low channel. But there's a natural bank, isn't there? You've got to remember there's like a natural bank that runs down that side. Ah fuck the bank. Whereas in the in the actual racetrack, this part here where the old bridge used to be, the old Dunlop bridge, it's like there somewhere. I think about back by orange code. Yeah, yeah. That arc there, that goes naturally uphill. So what you would do is you'd put your stages here, so one there and one here. Yeah. And then it kind of keeps it as the old download was back in like 03, the original one. So that's my thought on that. But obviously, they're not going to do that for next year because that's way too much planning. But I think that's where it should go. They're on about expanding it and making it more family friendly. To keep it alive, they've got to do something. Because the only other alternative to keep it alive and fresh is to not have it at Darlington Park.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Which, to be fair, there isn't really any reason why they need it at Darlington Park. No. Aside from Heritage. Yeah. Which, if they're going to keep on the heritage line, bring the racetrack back in. Because then it brings it literally back to where it used to be. And then you hearkening back to where Monsters of Rock was and everything like that. It's calling back to an earlier point, but still making it new.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So you've got download as a new version, old download, but a new old download. So yeah. That's my thought anyway. But obviously they might not have permission to do that anymore on the racetrack, but yeah, maybe.

unknown

Maybe.

SPEAKER_00

But if it's smaller in there, less foot traffic. Yeah, true. So, but going back to the campsites, I think for next year looking at them, as they are now, I don't get why blue was stretched out as far as it was. I don't camp. Yeah. That long that long streak of piss that's on the side. I don't get why they did that. Because you kind of. I get why they made the car part bigger, and I'm glad they did, because it made it was a piece of piss for us to get in. Yeah, yeah. I appreciate that. However, looking at it. Why? Why? You know, there's all this stuff behind Black Camp here where they could have like expanded down behind Black Camp a little bit, made quiet camping more up to the north, bought blue down a little bit and kind of filled in the gap so it's not as piss streak like and cut off part of the car park. And so you take it down from that grey line in, and then up and do it that way. I don't get why they changed it so much. Like the rest of it, I get like for this area, like black camp was the best size because last year black camp was tiny. So it makes more sense that black was bigger. Yeah, that's what she said. Green and eco, they're fine up there. Purple is massive. Orange camp size.

SPEAKER_01

Purple's pretty much the same size as the actual arena.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it is. Purple's massive, it's the biggest one now. Whereas it used to be like blue and red that were the big ones, but you know. Looking at this, I don't see why they didn't make red more like it's got a bit cut out. Put that bit back in.

SPEAKER_01

Why can't you camp in the actual inside of the actual racetrack?

SPEAKER_00

That's a good point. I think there is actually there's camper van plus, and then there's ready to rock in the middle of the campsite, but ready to rock I think is like a I think it's like a an extra thing to do with showers and shit, and I don't know why they put it in the racetrack.

SPEAKER_01

Put it somewhere else.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean I mean, the one that gets me is Orange Camp. I don't understand what the fuck is going on with Orange Camp.

SPEAKER_01

That's for the weirdos.

SPEAKER_00

I think TPD camp there, actually.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think.

SPEAKER_01

That explains that.

SPEAKER_00

I like TPD, that's one thing. Exactly. Um anyone else to think. But they should have made it bigger and filled that gap.

SPEAKER_01

I don't get why it's like I'll take take orange camp, put it the here, the left-hand side of the racetrack.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's on a paper.

SPEAKER_01

Bring red, bring a red in here, rearrange that so it takes more of this up to the edge of the track.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I think next year the campsites need to be a bit more thought out. Thought out because this year it kind of I get why they did it with West Car Park, but just extend it out. Like they I don't know. I'm just I'm just nitpicking. I'm nitpicking, I'm getting to that point where I'm being a miserable old fart and I'm nitpicking. But I do think though that if they put part of the festival back in the racetrack, that would elevate it again going forward.

SPEAKER_01

But the only part of the racetrack I stood on was the showers.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't go there because Black Side didn't bother with the showers, but it's well the same as Fat Franks was on it as well. Was he?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You sure? That was the racetrack, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no. District X wasn't part of the race track, mate. Oh, it was part of the old car park. It's a very wide track. That's the car park, mate, not the track. You didn't you didn't go on the track, trust me. Oh right. You'd know if he was on the track, because it'd be grandstands all around you and it's in a dip. Oh right. So it's in a dip and then it comes back up to where it's like where blue camp is and that. Okay. But yeah, I mean I don't know, I think the the prediction for the bands, we've pretty much got that spot on now. But yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We'll uh review that in six months.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, when it's coming up towards November. Well, it's not even six months, it's gonna be two months at the time of recording this before we find out two, three months when we find out the bands. Why is that they're gonna release some of them? It's always the headliners in November. That's when they announce it. So this is a headline speculation. So stay tuned for uh headline bingo. We will do another one before the headliners come out, and when the headliners do get announced, we'll do a reaction one to it. But I think after this episode, although we're only what we're just below an hour mark now. I think this one doesn't need to be a very long one because it's mostly discussing the bands and such like that. So I think there's only so much we can speculate. I mean, we could have got guests on to talk about this, but yeah, I think the next episode we're probably gonna move away from discussing download. Yeah. Because we don't want to download you all out and make you think that's all we talk about. So we're gonna move away from downloading the next one, and we will more than likely just discuss our top ten albums, top five albums, something along that line.

SPEAKER_01

I'm heading to Florida um end of September, so stay tuned for a Florida catch-up episode. I'm off to Disney and Universal, so I'll give you uh a little rundown on that. May uh maybe in a hurricane, may not be. Who knows? Christ, okay. Well, be safe. I've been in one before. Just saying as casual. Two years ago, I was in Florida in a hurricane. The hotel had put uh quilts underneath the windows to stop the rain coming in. Jesus Christ. It was that bad that we've had worse weather here on a normal day. It was not bad at all. So they basically fluffed it up. Yeah, right. Basically, they're not built for that. So basically, the the the electric was playing up a little bit, it was flashing. God, okay, not not constant, it would like do every like 10 minutes or something, like just go. It was a light breeze at most. You know, you're walking and like the breeze is strong enough to where you can put your hands out and like pretend like you're it's holding you up and falling. That's how strong the breeze was. Well, I could have gone in the pool, but said no.

SPEAKER_00

Another thing that I would like to pin onto this episode while we're just talking about download predictions, things like that. We are planning on making a Discord for this as well. And the social media pages should already be up by now. If they're not already up by now, by the time this goes out, kick my ass on the Discord because Discord will be the first thing that gets done. Because we want to hear what you guys think about the predictions, particularly the predictions for download. We want to know where you guys are at with it, if you think we're wrong, or if you think, yep, they're right on it, or whatever, or if we've not discussed a band or anything like that.

SPEAKER_01

So let me in that list you may want to rearrange something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just let us know. You know, put your own ideas in the Discord and uh we will discuss them closer to the time and kind of pull a list together of who said what and what we agree with, and kind of come up with a list that we all think is the right answer or as close to the right answer as you can, because you're never gonna keep everyone happy. But uh, as proved by the this year's download just gone. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um and if some posts something that you don't like, just ignore it, don't be a cunt.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, don't be a cunt, don't be salty, just everyone's entitled to their opinion. Let them let them lie. If you don't agree with it, cool. That's what makes us human. Yeah. Um, but yeah, that's kind of all that we've kind of got to say about coming up, like say the next episode. It's probably gonna be a top five, top ten bands, and we'll be discussing those bands and why we like them, what we like about them, recommending songs to listen to to each other as well.

SPEAKER_01

Check out some new album drops, review some albums.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, review some quality shit that's coming up, and maybe some some good shit and maybe some bad shit. Yeah, maybe good, maybe shit.

SPEAKER_01

Good, bad, runny, who knows?

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. Yes, but uh yeah, I think that's gonna wrap up the episode. So it's a goodbye from me. Bye, adios. Adios, me and me goes, take a bye bye, but I'm gonna do it.
