We're back again with another fantastic episode. Yep. Sub cunts. Straight away, straight in there, subcons. Yeah, so we're pretty much this episode we're going to be discussing Sleep Token. Um, because I've done a massive deep dive into that band, which I did kind of hint at in the last episode. Um, a huge one. You're gonna be talking about Mr. Bill Murray. Yeah, Lord and Saviour, Mr. Murray. Yeah. Uh, we're gonna be also talking about District Exit download, which was just recently announced and sort of breaking down who's there and who we're gonna go see, what we're gonna do. And lastly, probably the Friday as well, sort of the clashes on the Friday and sort of who we're weighing up going to see. Um obviously, as we mentioned in the last one, we're planning on recording some of the festival as well, um, sort of like in a vlog format with us all. So yeah, you'll kinda get an idea of who's going where and what's what's going on, really. Um so yeah, that's kind of a a sort of a brief overview of what we're gonna be discussing in this one. Um so yeah, I guess let's start off with uh sleep token. That's sort of the go. Okay. So that's a good one that I'm gonna have to edit out with that clap. Um sleep token. Who's got the clap? My hand, son. Um so with sleep token. I remember the first time I heard them was you showing me them when you first came here. Oh yeah. Like back in 2023, you showed me the summoning, and you was like, oh look at this sex. You was like, listen to this sex song that's like a metal song that goes into like sex, and I was like, okay. At first I wasn't really that arsed about it. I was kind of like, oh, okay, that's a bit interesting, and left it there. Then they like appeared fucking everywhere all over TikTok, and I was like, okay, this is kind of getting a bit much. Anything I do goes viral. It was you single-handedly. Yep, you're welcome. Um so, and then Connor, our other friend, he was like, Oh, have you listened to sleep drone? He's obsessed with them. Um I didn't really get it at first. I was like, Well, I don't get why everyone seems to fucking love this band to the point that they do, where it's almost like borderline obsessive, but it's a cult. Now I do, and I'm fully immersed in this cult because um I guess you could say I've had my emergence. Haha. Huh. Huh. Um gay. I think fucking gay. But um yeah. So I started listening to Take Me Back to Eden at work while I was like packing down story. I just put the whole album on because I'd only ever listen to like The Summoning, Aqua Regia, Um, Chokeholder, not really listen to many songs, and I'd heard like Alkaline, and I was like, Ah, okay, this is kind of like cool. So I did a bit more of a deep dive after that because I listened to the whole album front to back, and I was like, okay, obviously, they're playing download the show, so I need to get into them because I originally was just gonna sack sleep token off and go and see CroydlaFilth. That has since changed very dramatically in the past couple of weeks. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. So um, yeah, I guess really sort of looking at the first album that I listened to, which was Take Me Back to Eden. The only thing I can say about that album is what a fucking journey that album is. It's a trip, yeah, like an emotional trip that album is because it's like I'd started listening to Ascensionism, which I'd listened to quite a lot last year on the run-up to download. Um nice, just because of what it was about, nice again, and uh yeah, I just sort of found myself like keep going back to the certain songs off like Tanya Back to Eden. Um but my god, who hurt that man? Who hurt you? Like, honestly, who hurt Vessel? He's just he's just out there just trying to do his best thing, and he's getting shot on left, right, and centre. But I don't know, man. Like that that album is probably now for me one of my top ten albums. Yep, solid. Like they've literally in my Spotify Trackify, they've jumped from like 1415 up to number one, like in the past couple of weeks. What what month does the like Spotify and all that release their their yearly update of what you've been listening to? Uh it's in December that they do it. Okay, cool. So probably when mine comes in at the end of the year, it's gonna be Sleep Token, Megadeath and Barbie Girl. No, absolutely not for me. It'll probably be Sleep Token, Megadeath, and Trivium. Cool. I reckon that'll be my top three for the end of the year. You want mine was this year? Go on. SpongeBob AI. Wow. Number one. Sleep Token and the new Lincoln Park album. Wow. Even though you've only been out a couple of months. That's got some good legs on it. I don't know if you've been listening to it that much. I mean the thing is though, what I like about Sleep Token, I think this is what more so than just the music, it's the whole vibe of it. Like, there's a story, like it's it's basically him worshipping this god or godd called Sleep, who, based off of the lyrics from the first, second, and third album, it's about an ex. It's very clear it's about an ex because it's like it reads like a sort of a an abusive relationship, but it's like a two-sided conversation in the lyrics. Funnily enough, my friend Matt, who's coming, uh he, his girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, who they've had a kid together, have broken up and I showed him sleep token, and he loves it. Yeah, that's probably why. There's probably a lot, that's probably why, because a lot of the lyrics are probably very subconsciously mean a lot, because that's that's what got me, is because a lot of it, for example, when you listen to the sort of start of Sundown, and this is one of the coolest things that I've ever heard. So each album, the way that they work, is you have the opening song, which kind of sets the stage for what's to come for the album, which is a great way of starting an album. It's classic album writing at its finest. So The Night Does Not Belong to God sort of explains him forgetting himself in the day, in like when it turns to night time, he forgets who he is, and he sort of offers himself sleep, um, which is why the album's called Sundowning, which is actually a term that is what dementia patients do. So when the sun goes down, they lose their fucking minds and go nuts, they forget everything, they just go fucking ballistic, basically. Um he's doing, it's like an obsessive compulsion to be driven to this goddess. Um, which is what you're looking at? The QR, what Q oh that one, yeah, yeah. I don't know what that's for. I don't know. Sorry, we're just looking at the QR code on my laptop. I'm not sure what that's for, maybe it's like a a product service, I don't know. But um yeah, so he's like proper obsessed with this like goddess, and he just falls deeper and deeper into it, and then you get into the second album, and it just it's heartbreaking. That second album is it's so depressing, it's it's it's bad, like you're like fucking hell, dude. Um, but the cool thing is that from the start of the The Night Does Not Belong to God appears at the end of um the last song on Take Me Back to Eden. Oh yeah, and it's like it's closing the book on the whole thing, so it like reflects on all three albums. It even has the same like lyrics and the same song start as the song, and the first one it like comes back, so it's kind of like this full circle closing the um the story on those three albums. Cool. So I cannot wait for the new album to come out. I am literally check literally today they're supposed to be releasing nice, they're supposed to be releasing their set look at that fucking peaks on that man. Sick. They're supposed to be releasing their second single today. I have been checking my phone non-stop today, apart from what I was doing driving. But I checked my phone non-stop. I keep looking to see if it's come up or if there's anything. Sadly, nothing so far that I've seen. Nope. But yeah, I cannot cannot wait for even an Arcadia to come out. I'm really excited about it. Well, could it drop the whole album? Well, it's coming out on May the 9th, I think. The new album, so I've only got to wait if it's honestly that's gonna be a great month. I got Sleep Joker coming out, and then a few days later I've got Doom. Dark Age is coming out, mate. My my social life is gonna disappear when that game comes out because it's literally everything I want from a game. So yeah. Ah Says here, it update you on Monday. Oh okay. So maybe we're not getting a single today. That's depressing. Well, it was supposed to be today, that's a bit weird. Yeah. Oh well. So 31st. Okay, well, I'll be checking my phone all weekend still. Just to be sure. But um either way, I can't wait for that album. Can't wait to see them download. They're very much at the top of my ban list at the moment. So yeah. Um and I've been listening to a bit of Deftones. Good man. I've had um an 80s vibe going on, so I've been going back to like Starship and Yeah, so I've just been having like a nostalgic year. It's good, man, to be fair. I mean, it is our 30th year on the planet for us both. Yeah. So it is a time to be very nostalgic at the moment, but tell me more about Bill Murray because this is a band that you keep mentioning all the fucking time to me. I've not really listened to them. It's just sex. Just pure it's it's freedom. It's I don't I can't explain. It's just orgasm in your ear. You just listen to it and give it a go, and you won't regret it. Is that the one where they do that music video where he's like in a parking lot with a bunch of cans of monster or something like that? Yep. That music video is fucking hilarious. Day Shell's another band that I fucking adore. Nice as well. Um that man's voice, if I had that, I wouldn't leave the house. I'd just sit in bed singing to myself all day. Nice, to be honest. Um these are going in the download camp playlist. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. At least three or four albums. Right. It's it's that good. Right. Like um, he's got um once bass on like World of Warcraft. It's all animated, and the first song, the first song of the album, uh I can't remember if if the album is named the same as well, but it was um oh fuck, what's it called now? Um fucking Oh what um It's like Yeet or Yeetus or fucking Dion Yeetus or something. Hold on, I've got the album here. So the album's called Goblin Hours. Wow. And the song is Cornfed Yeetis Cornfed Yeetis. Right, okay. He's also got songs like Hogsman's Delight. Wow, okay. Oh if you go back further, the names just get worse. Or better. Look at that. Whereas obviously Sleek Token were just talking about a bit ago, that's all negative. There's not really much positivity, whereas this it's positive, but the lyrics are actually negative, yeah. So it's kind of more reflective, which to be honest, I've noticed that a lot of them bands that are really successful now are doing that. Yeah. Um, a bit of my muso coming out there, but um yeah, um I'm gonna I'm gonna start listening to this now because I like it. It's good. You you haven't heard the old stuff. Oh, it gets dirty. Fair enough. Well, I'm sold, so I'm kinda hoping they do do a secret set of download now. Well, they told us sleep token. They did, yeah, I saw that. I was like, who the fuck's Bill Murray? I was like, isn't that an actor? When I saw it, I was like, it's a bit weird. So not knowing that it was this. Hello. Um so yeah, no, I'm I'm sold on that. I would uh definitely like to go listen to and see them. Oh my god. But um secret set, confound. Hopefully. So if not, I've got to bother reading tickets. Yeah, reading tickets.
