Hello and welcome to our little corner of the I'm nail. I'm Damon. And we're back again. It's been a little while. It's been a while. But uh we're back again. And um yeah, we're uh fuck, we're close to download now, aren't we, dude? Yeah, there's only like two days to go. Well, two and a seven. Two and a seven days to go. Yeah, yeah. Um, but yeah, we're uh we're pretty much ready now to go. Um yeah, pretty much. Yeah, I mean it's just the little last odds and sods, really, but uh we do have a thing that Damon has made, which is the uh we've made some t-shirts and some stickers as well, which he's currently repping the new t-shirt. And oh there's the stickers. He's handed me the stickers, holy shit, these look amazing! Yep, and um also on the other side, those are reverse stickers, so you can stick them on the inside the glass. So if you want to stick one in uh Nikki's car, you can. I will do actually, you know. That is awesome. Yeah, how many we got of these? Uh 50. This is 50, right here. No, no, that's just one pack that I've got. So probably 10 in a pack? Five, maybe. Oh, okay. Cool. Well, we're trying out a new audio set of the Daemon is also bought, um, just to kind of see how we fare with this versus sort of the old traditional single microphone set. But so far, I've got to say I'm quite impressed with it on the testing. So yeah, yeah, sounds good. Well, uh if you uh listen to a previous episode and come back to this one, you might see a difference. I think they definitely will, especially when I start doing the editing like I normally do, because editing out all this background noise is a bit of a bitch to do, to be honest. So yeah. But uh yeah. Uh what has happened in your life since the last time we recorded, mate? Because mine's been fucking chaos. Um not much. Just working. Um yeah, working, dieting. Um and that's it really. Not doing too much. What about you? Uh well, in personal life I bought a new Xbox um so I could play the new Doom game, which came out yesterday. Yeah. Um so I've just done a bit of a punt before we started on it just to kind of get used to it. I'm still trying to get used to it because it feels very um very slow compared to Doom Eternal, and there's no platforming really in it, and it's it's good, but it's not it's not as doomy as I would like it to be. Like, I I've been hyped on this for ages, so like I mean Damon knows what I'm like with Doom, it's like my number one game, aside from like Skyrim and Jack and Daxter. Um, so for me to say that is quite a big statement to be like, I'm not sure about it. That might change as I get further in the game. I know I am only halfway through the second level, so but it looks amazing, it feels like they said it would like you driving a fucking tank through a wall. Um, yeah, that's personal life. I've started going to the gym as well. Nice. Um, started to try and work on things that aren't quite working as I want them to, like my knees and my back. Um, and I've just got done today packing four vans because we've got a shitload of shows at work to do um over the next week. So absolute bedlam at the office. Um, yeah. That's that's my personal life at the minute. Chaos is how I would describe it. Nice. So um, yeah, hopefully that settles down before download. I mean it should anyway, once this week's out of the way, coming week. Um, by this time next week, I'll be free. So I don't have another show then until after download. So you want to get loads of steps in before you go, get your uh get your legs in into uh into gear. Well it's funny you say that because I keep going on the treadmill at the gym. Yep. And the uh cross trainer as well, and I'm doing the rowing, the rowing ones I want to do the most of, to be honest. Oh nice. I like um that machine where you put your legs in the through the bars and you you do that. Oh yeah, yeah. And then you do the opposite way. Yeah, I've been using the lap pull as well for my back. Yeah. The one where you like sit forward and you've got the thing on your chest and you you pull back with your arms. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so just been trying to work on like say all my problem areas, really, and trying to be a bit healthier. I mean, we've been eating like shit the past few weeks, because well, we've been like I've like for me with work and that I just don't want to cook when I come home and the weather isn't helping. So the last thing I want to do is stand over a red hot stove and cook a dinner. So it's like myself a pasta meal deal. Healthy rock. Get the water the big Volvic water bottle, and you can uh once it's empty, you can fill it with alcohol for the festival. It's not a bad show, not a bad show at all. But uh, in terms of the co-op, speaking of that, Nikki is now a member, I'm gonna become a member, but the co-op in Shrewsbury, where I work, yeah, is awful at the minute for food because they have nothing in. You go in there, and anything that was in there, the teenagers have all took because they get there early and you're like for fuck's sake, so is it a blue one or is it a green one? It is a blue one. Cool. Oh, I have no more blue co-ops near me. Not ideal. Yep, the nearest one is like towards Shrewsbury. Yeah, that'll be the one where I work. Yeah. Is that the one off Amstry? Uh I don't know, but that's the that is the nearest one. That'll that'll be my work one then. Don't go there, it's shit. Yes, it's just me. I go there for lunch both days, it's crap. Like what, 40 minutes from me or something? Yeah, it's about 15 from here, so yeah. But no, um, yeah, that's kind of life really. I have whipped out my old PS2 as well. Nice. Um, so I've been playing on it, Ratchet Clank, Jack and Daxter. Oh, I haven't told you this bit. I loaded it up. The oldest safe file I have on there is from 2002. Nice. I was like, holy shit, I feel old. Read that. I was like, that was 23 years ago. 23 years ago. I was like, Christ, okay. So time flies. Yep, time flies when you're having fun and paying bills and all that shit. But uh yeah, so that's personal life and other news. Sleep token's new album has come out since. That's been out for a week now. I am enjoying it. I am too. I must say that my favourite song off that album, besides Emergence, is Guestamain, or however you say, I think it's how you say guest guest guest main, guest guest. I don't know. Something like that. That one. I love it. Absolutely love it. Oh god, he's gonna play it. No, no, I'm just getting the album it. Yeah, so I I I've also been looking at their stats on Spotify. This is amazing, right? Oh no, the one, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was always the one that's got the pink Floyd bit. Uh yeah, I'll quit. Oh no, that's that's infinite bath that's got the pink Floyd bit, but that's great too. Yeah, I always always look at number nine track number nine and go. Get seamen. Yeah, people say it like that as well, but I think it's nice to me. Yeah, probably. I think. I don't know. I'll have to Google it afterwards and figure out, but what I will say, my only criticism of the album is that to me, although the lyrics are very vulnerable and open, I kind of feel like that's a little forced. If that makes sense, because in the past they were open, but they were done in a way where it wasn't obvious. Whereas now this feels like very on the nose, and I feel like that's you know, cool that they're a bit more open, but it's it's lost that mystique around what they were actually talking about. Whereas now it's more direct and obvious, which you know is cool, like I say, but for me personally, I I do miss that mystique, especially that you got on, like you know, Sundowning the first album where it was like proper, you have to kind of really dig into it and figure out what was actually going on. Um but apparently, from what I've seen, because I'm in a lot of groups on Facebook, they reckon that there's gonna be another album. Yep. So my odds are on that they'll announce it at download. Fingers crossed. Because or they'll do like you know how when well you weren't there, but when Bring Me the Horizon headlined, they had like a whole visual thing and it announced a second album at download. Yeah, like the follow-up album, they announced it beforehand. So I reckon Sleep Token might do that because if you cast your mind back to when they were announced, they did a thing saying be there at this date because that's when something's gonna happen and it's not been done before. So either that or they're gonna unmask themselves, which if they do, I'll be really upset if they do that because I don't want them to. I know who they are. Yeah, I refuse to use their actual names because I think that's disrespectful to them and the concept, but yeah, don't do that, guys, please. I know they'll probably never listen to this podcast, but please don't do that, because you know, don't be a dick. Don't be penish. Uh but yeah, I mean I think for me, trend listing-wise, it it goes emergence because I love that song. Um then I think Guestamain and then Infinite Baths for me are the top three. Okay. Um, what about you? So I'll I mean when I went through the entire album, I didn't really take too many of the songs first round. Past self was my my first one that I'm like went to mostly. Um and then I went to uh well well technically I went caramel. Yeah. Uh Democles I do like. Um yeah. Emergencies was a good one as well. Um but the rest of them just haven't grown on me enough yet. But the more I listen to it, I'll uh I'll get more into it. Yeah, I think it's like uh unlocking new areas of a level. Yeah, in a way it does feel very um everything's everything just feels different. Yeah, it does, it's a very different album. Like the the it's a similar trajectory to what they were doing on um Take Me Back to Eden, but it feels like a departure from the first two albums. Like for me, my favourite Sleep Token album is the first one. Like, overall, that's my favourite one because that that first song, The Night Does Not Belong to God, it's just iconic. It's an iconic album. It's just it sets the tone of exactly what's gonna happen. So for me anyway, that's my personal take, but uh yeah, um overall, very, very happy with the album. I think it's really good, yeah. Um and yeah, I'm just I've I've listened to it a lot, uh probably about ten times now since it's come out, but uh on the first day that it came out, I didn't listen to it, I listened to it the next day. And uh I listened to it four times in a row. And my theory on the album ego, put your tin foil hats on, is that you're supposed to listen to it in reverse order. Okay. So you start at infinite baths, guest domain is a call back to take me back to Eden, in the sense that it references uh Eleuclid on it because it has that same vocal melody. Yep. Um, so it's kind of like it's a call back to it, and then obviously you've got like caramel, which is like you know, it's a bit shit doing all this stuff, but you know, it is what it is kind of thing. And then look to windward for me is kind of him after he's emerged for himself, which is the song before. He's then come out from underneath sleep, and he's like, woke up on this beach, and he's like because in the lyrics it says like he's like got like blood in his mouth and whatever. It's like the leftovers, it's like him saying, like, and this is like will you haunt this haunt this eclipse of me? It's his way of saying, like, you've eclipsed me now. Stop. It's like the final fuck you to sleep, basically. So that's why I think you should listen to in reverse order. Um, that's my take, that's what I took away from it. But apparently I called more on on the group chat when I put that in on um on on the sleep token thing. But the fans are very, very possessive of their ideas. I've noticed that. Yeah, if you disagree with their ideas, I'll call you a dick. And it's like, dude, it's just a theory. I could be completely wrong, I probably am, but you know, the only people who know it are the four who made the music. So very true. Uh yeah, have you got any thoughts or theories on it? I'm I'm not that deep into it really. I'm just just just enjoying it as much as I can. Um I know most of the lyrics from uh Morve Everyone, uh past self. Um the rest of them I don't know the lyrics too well. That that's just because not gotten into them enough. No, that's fair enough. I mean, in terms of like what I think um, you know, we we can expect coming from potentially a follow-up album, because when me, Connor, Talia, and Nicky all went to the Shepherd's Monument in Sugborough, you you figured out the puzzle and it made you pick a house. So there was like the you know, the feathered host, and then there was um House Viridian. Now I picked House Viridian originally, which was the um the the green one with the I think it was like a crossed pair of axes or swords. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I did both. Yeah, well Nikki did the other one. So logically, the feathered host was Vessel. Apparently, this is a theory. And the other one, House Viridian, was Sleep. So the theory goes that we actually ended up picking this album over the other one. So the theory goes that there's two albums and it's a double album, and we picked which one we got first, so we ended up picking as a collective. That's very cool. The first one, which is even in Arcadia, so the second one, because apparently on the Apple music version and the lyrics, some letters are capitalized on the songs in the lyrics, and they actually spell something out, but no one's figured out what it is yet. Oh, okay, okay. So, but apparently people reckon it is like the house must endure or something like that. Oh, this is gonna be uh Which is the slogan of House Viridian, so it's the opposite to it. This is gonna be uh a very interesting year. Yeah, I mean I think it is for music. I mean at the minute, you know, you've got you've got quite a lot of bands coming out with loads of shit, and I mean, you know, I'm I'm looking forward to download because this year I think I think it's gonna be very different from all the others. I mean, there's so much shit to do there now, download this year, like they've really ramped it up, which I'm glad they did, because it it seemed like I said before, way back in the early episodes, I think it was episode three, um, you know, they need to do something that's gonna make it a bit more um have a bit more legs, a bit more life in it, and I think now with the new bands coming in and the new people coming in, it's like okay, well, how do we cater to new people? And I mean, even on the accessibility front as well, they've nailed it this year, like looking at what they've got planned for like you know, disabled camping and stuff, they've got a fat franc specifically for that on site as well. So they've got a normal fat franc, so they've got that one that you know caters to people with disabilities and stuff, so it's you know, it's it's becoming more of a more of a spectacle, I think, and I think this year it'll be good to go around and compare what it used to be like back in 2014 for me, and obviously last year to you, because you'll have the most year as well, so well, yeah. So you will only have that to compare it to, which is a good benchmark because I've seen it change, so to me they might not be as immediate, yeah. Because when I went back from 2014 to 2023, which is nine years of not going, I was shocked at how different it actually was. Like I was convinced where things were gonna be, and I actually got there, I was like, oh fuck, that's not a thing anymore. When did that change? Where's this? What's that? So for me, I kind of went in a bit blind because I didn't do any research, I just assumed it would be the same, and then it wasn't, and I was like, oh fuck, right, okay. I'm gonna have to figure this out quite quickly then. So you know what's really shocking? Go on. What's that um big metal festival that's in um Paris? Well, France. Hellfest. Hellfest. Do you know how many people attend that? No. Half a million. What? Half a million half a million people, guess that? 400 and That's twice as much as download at capacity. Yeah. Fuck. I mean to be fair, the lineups are always slaps. They are, and I was thinking how many people is too many people that I don't want to socialise with. Well tally will have a fucking nightmare because she's dreading downloading. Especially French. You know. Wow. Sorry, French listeners. Yeah, sorry. Yeah. No, sorry. Um I don't know, it's just I I I've got some French people that I'm uh I've made friends with in the in the past, but you know, I've fixed them partially. Fixed them. Wow. But I can't fix a whole country, so it's very difficult. I mean, we can't talk, our country's completely fucked. I I I need to see the sus the uh statistics on how many French people actually attend. Although there is one thing I will give the French that I really do admire is their ability to just strike on a sixpence. Oh yeah. They just go, they just go, you've pissed me off, fuck you. I'm just gonna turn this car over and glass your house. Yeah. It's like fuck me, right? Okay, that's that takes balls. Well, we wouldn't do that, we'd just go, okay, and then carry on. Oh yeah. You know, if they're not happy about something, you'll fucking know about it. But um, speaking of the French as well, a bit of a detour. I watch Moto GP. Um, because I like motorsports, specifically motorbikes, but um I grew up watching it and all this stuff, but Johann Zarko um won the French GP, the Le Mans GP. Oh, I thought you could say stranded. Wow, wow, savage. No, but um he won, so fair play. Um, yeah, it was uh it was nice to see because he's not won anything for fucking ages, so okay. But yeah, uh no, I I I do think that they will announce the second album at download. I think it'll be I don't know how they'll do it, but I I'm convinced they will now because knowing all this stuff. I'm like, that's the only place that makes sense. It's on Home Turf. It wouldn't do it in America because, well, why would you if you're a UK band, you'd do it in the biggest festival, and the only time you're gonna headline download, possibly. Well, I don't know now because they're quite big, so maybe they'll do it again. But uh who knows it would make sense to do it. That's what I would do from a PR standpoint. Do it at download if you're gonna do it anywhere, do it at download, make it a spectacle, like Bring Me did. Like to me, though, Bring Me the Rise and that set they did is still the best headliner I've ever seen a download. Hands down, like no one comes close. Well, speaking of Bring Me, uh, after this uh download, I am tempted to go to Reading Festival. Yeah, we were talking about going for a day, weren't we? Where Bring Me will be headlining. I still think we should go, you know. Me too. When is it? Yes. Great. I need a date because I need to know what I'm doing with work. If it's in if it's in July at the end of July or August, then that's fine. Uh so I think it's in August if memory serves. I believe it is. So I was looking at Leeds and Reading. Leeds is a bit further than than Reading. Um but whoever's got tickets, we will go to that one. So it is Where the hell are you? Wow. It's nothing like the download website. So maybe keep an ear an ear to the uh to the walls. Yeah, that's actually a point. So I I didn't go to the dog out last year. I I very, very, very rarely hear anyone playing airborne and in the in the vlog in the bar with the the bike on the top, what was that called?
