Speaker 1:

Good afternoon, good afternoon, welcome. Welcome to the 243 report of honor celebrating our most recent Eagle Scout. He's very busy at the back right now. We're so pleased that you chose to join us today to recognize this major milestone. We'd like to extend a welcome to the extended TOSS family. A lot of folks traveled in to make an ear, A lot of siblings came. It's fantastic and we have a few special guests. Kelly Zumer, our state senator. She had time so recently sworn in just a month or so ago.

Speaker 1:

So brand new, it's fantastic. And then she still had time to make it to this, so super appreciative. I haven't seen is Joe Pacheco in the crowd. I don't see him. Okay, so we have a selectman from the board of directors and then Lucas' grandparents are here. Paul and Maureen Johnson traveled in and for years volunteered in the Boy Scout Council, the North Bend Council where they live, and they have set a standard for the Toss family. As you can see, their legacy is kind of pushing through here. Surprise, yeah, so we're here to celebrate an Eagle Scout Within youth scouting. That is the pinnacle of youth scouting.

Speaker 2:

But once you get past that there are other awards.

Speaker 1:

They were both recipients of what's called the Silver Beaver Award, and that is the most distinguished adult volunteer award that you can earn within a council. So it's impressive that they set that standard for their families. So welcome. Paul is also a district commissioner and a member of the vigil rank in the Order of Arrow. Order of Arrow is the honor society within Scout. It's fantastic when we learn that. You guys will be here for that.

Speaker 3:

Thank you All right please, mr Kevin Deacon.

Speaker 1:

Kevin, if you would, would be willing, if you can, come up and offer an invocation for sure they were the father, son and Holy Spirit.

Speaker 4:

Amen, heavenly Father, we ask you to continue the blessings you have given to Lucas, his family, continue the integrity that he has learned from scouting and continue to keep the integrity going here at St Ann's and that they may continue scouting through the years to come, even though changes are coming in leadership and all the members, and we ask your blessing as we pray in the prayer that you taught us Our Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom, come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom, come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen, the Son holds true, amen, I'm going to sign the phones for Team Matt.

Speaker 1:

All right, I'm going to take one quick. Mr Pacheco, you're welcome to come on in. This is the chairman of our board of selectmen here in town and while he's rolling in, if you just take a quick moment, if everyone can check your phones, make sure your phones are going vibrate, silent, whatever works for you. Thank you for joining us. All right, please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance and we're going to have our color guard. Post the colors. Okay, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United.

Speaker 3:

States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Speaker 1:

Thank you, you may all be seated. Scouts, please remain Scout side. Please recite the Scout oath. I'm my owner. I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to obey the Scout law, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. Thank you very much, and back when you prepare for the next party.

Speaker 5:

As one of the 243 Assistant Scoutmasters, it's my pleasure to officially declare this roast of Lucas Tost to be open. This is not a roast, it's a court of honor. Court of honor, not a roast.

Speaker 1:

Nathaniel. Nathaniel is Lucas's brother. I'm sorry, I'll give you your money back later. Alright, awarding the Eagle rank. This is an important and serious matter mostly serious. It's the highest and most coveted award in all of scouting. It's the goal towards which these scouts have been working for years and only about 2% of all scouts make it to this rank. In order to achieve this final rank, the scout has to fulfill many requirements, including earning merit badges.

Speaker 1:

Serving Scout has to fulfill many requirements, including earning merit badges. Serving his troop in a leadership role and carrying out a substantial service project for the community, demonstrating the skills and ideals of Scouting all along the way. In addition, there are Scoutmaster conferences, boards of review with the rest of the leader team to confirm that the Scout has earned each progressive award. Consequently, today is an occasion for great pride and joy. As we gather today to celebrate Lucas' achievement, we recognize his hard work and dedication. As we share stories today, you won't be able to miss the fact that Lucas lives up to all that is good about the scouting program. His wealth of skills cross between outdoor survival, good citizenship and leadership.

Speaker 1:

To understand the significance of this accomplishment, we first need to start with the foundation of the scouting program. So we examine the journey to reach Eagle. It's fitting that we start with the fundamental principles of scouting the scout oath and the scout law. So the troop just joined together to recite the oath, so now we'll light candles and then progress forward to represent the three main sections of that oath. Gentlemen, when you're ready, please start the progression procession Duty to God, God of the Spirit.

Speaker 1:

3. God, god, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, you do this out, thank you. Those three commitments combine into a solemn pledge to live a life in a defined way, and across generations scouts have been reciting that oath as a regular reminder and promise to live up to the high standards. Scout is trustworthy.

Speaker 6:

A scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is trustworthy. The scout tells the truth. He keeps his promises. Honesty is a part of his code of conduct.

Speaker 7:

Unlike atoms and molecules, Lucas doesn't make up everything.

Speaker 1:

Let's pause for one second. Pause. The procession we jumped a piece there. I just want to explain what's going on here. We're moving into the scout law now. The scout law is kind of the fundamental pieces of the scouting organization, the different traits that we try to live up to, and so, as we go through this, our senior patrol leader will offer some context for each one, and then, because Lucas is such a fan of dad jokes, we're also going to offer a little extra context for each one. Go for it.

Speaker 6:

A scout is loyal, A scout is true to his family, friends, scout leaders, school, nation and world community.

Speaker 7:

Lucas is as loyal as a calculator. Both can be counted on.

Speaker 6:

A scout is helpful. Scout is concerned about other people. He willingly volunteers to help others without expecting payment or reward.

Speaker 1:

So Lucas once stopped his brother, nathaniel, from eating a kid's meal at McDonald's. You should have seen how appreciative I can't parents well.

Speaker 6:

A scout is friendly. A scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to all other scouts. He ceases to understand others. He respects those with ideas and customs that are different from his own.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, lucas is friendly. All right, he likes to tell jokes, but his pizza jokes are too cheesy. His joke about a broken pencil is pointless and his pun about phones Totally uncalled for.

Speaker 6:

A scout is polite to everyone, regardless of age or position. He knows that good manners make it easier for people to get along with each other.

Speaker 10:

Lucas is so courteous that he knocks on his refrigerator door before opening it in case there's a salad dressing.

Speaker 6:

A scout is kind. A scout understands there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. He does not harm or kill anything without reason.

Speaker 9:

Do you know why Lucas is so kind to dentists? Because they have feelings too. A scout is obedient.

Speaker 6:

A scout follows the rules of his family, school and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner, rather than disobey them.

Speaker 9:

Lucas usually goes along with all of the rules, but when we asked him to stop impersonating a flamingo, he finally had to put his foot down.

Speaker 1:

He'll be here always the filming go. He finally had. It goes for town. A scout is cheerful. A scout looks for the bright side of the way. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy To be as cheerful as Lucas. You have to have a lot of patience. Coincidentally, I think that's why he may already be a successful doctor. A scout is thrifty.

Speaker 6:

I think that's why he may already be a successful doctor. A scout is thrifty. A scout works the biggest way to help others. He saves for the future. He protects and conserves natural resources. He carefully uses time and property.

Speaker 5:

We tried to explain the difference to Lucas about being cheap and being thrifty, but he wasn't buying it.

Speaker 6:

A scout is brave. A scout can face danger even if he is afraid. He has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right, even if others laugh at him and have him afraid.

Speaker 10:

If Lucas ever considers being an organ builder, we know he's got the guts to make it happen.

Speaker 6:

A scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He goes around with those who believe in living by these same ideals. He helps keep his home and community clean.

Speaker 7:

One summer day, Mr Frank was washing his truck with Lucas. Lucas went along with it for a while, but finally gave it and asked if they could use a sponge instead.

Speaker 6:

A scout is reverent. A scout is reverent. A scout is reverent toward God.

Speaker 9:

He is faithful in his religious duties and he respects the beliefs of others. Lucas was once asked to help him on a Christmas pageant based on puns.

Speaker 1:

He jumped to the opportunity, as he knew it would be a great play on words. Those 12 points are ingrained in the minds of all scouts to anchor their thoughts to the high moral standards of the scouting movement. Please reset the lights, gentlemen. You can recess back. Lucas, will you please join us at the front as we begin to dive deeper into the significance of the event?

Speaker 1:

The pathway to EGLE can be described as a steep trail with several plateaus that lead toward challenging terrain, eventually reaching the highest peak. The path leads through seven ranks, which serve as checkpoints that involve leadership responsibilities, merit badges, service projects and the practice of scouting skills and principles. As requirements are fulfilled, the journey passes through the ranks of Scout Tenderfoot, second Class, first Class, star and Knife, before eventually culminating with Eagle. For those Scouts in the crowd still on their journey to Eagle, I hope you recognize what a special achievement this final step represents. Lucas was once in a position once in your position at that point and chose to keep pushing himself to reach this goal. It's an accomplishment that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

Speaker 1:

In addition to the rank advancement, merit badges are a core part of the scouting experience. These awards introduce and build proficiency in a wide variety of topics. Some badges focus on valuable life skills, while others examine subjects that may become future hobbies or careers. To earn Eagle, a scout must complete at least 21 merit badges, with 14 specific topics being considered Eagle required. If you notice on his sash there, there's some that have a silver lining around it. Those patches demonstrate the baseline knowledge and capability of the skills considered most useful for a scout.

Speaker 3:

The required badges cover topics such as citizenship, outdoor skills, communication and emergency preparedness.

Speaker 1:

And Lucas happened to also find a little known requirement to earn more merit badges than any older scout siblings in the scout community. That's just a bonus. Scoutmaster Sandro Ferrante will now share about Lucas' Eagle Scout service project.

Speaker 5:

Of the 142 rank requirements on the scouting journey, perhaps none is more daunting or valuable than the Eagle Scout Service Project. It's a scout's opportunity to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project that is good for his community. Eagle Scout Service Projects are evaluated on the benefits of the organization being served and on the leadership provided by the candidate. So Lucas looked for a need in the community. What could he do to benefit the community, to improve the community, and he decided to assist the random public library. He's always had fondness for the library. It's a pillar of the community.

Speaker 5:

A lot of people rally around the library and lucas had the unique experience of going through scouting during the pandemic, when a lot of things and services and activities were shut down. He saw the need to have maybe an outside place or environment where people could still enjoy the library in a comfortable atmosphere, and he approached the library to discuss creating an outdoor patio. As he experienced in that project, there's a lot of red tape. You have to make adjustments and make compromises and you have to see what different departments in the community feel about this project. It probably was a good trial by fire. You know, introduction to how a lot of bureaucracy and renting exists in life, and how you can be persistent and determined and see it through to produce a beautiful patio at the front of the library.

Speaker 5:

Any of you who have driven past the random library since June of last year have seen this patio with the chairs and furniture and the plantings all, I would say, arranged or facilitated by Lucas. Now, the challenge of an Eagle service project is that he really isn't supposed to do the work. He directs the work, he gathers the funds, he gathers the list of materials. He then organizes volunteers to do the work. So that's probably one of the biggest challenges for Lucas, because he is always helpful, he is always getting his hands dirty and for him to step back isn't in his nature. Lucas showed dedication and perseverance and true leadership in directing others and creating what is, I think, a beautiful patio, outdoor reading space and benefit to the community.

Speaker 1:

So we've been discussing the importance of the Eagle rank from the scouting perspective, but the high regard for this award extends far beyond our organization. Principal leadership skills of an Eagle Scout are widely recognized as connected with positive community and society impact. We'll now take a moment to invite community and government representatives to share any congratulatory messages. Senator Dooner, if you would like to come up, Good afternoon everyone and thanks for having me.

Speaker 2:

Lucas, I first wanna thank you for your love of dad jokes, as I equally share that in this ceremony that I certainly will not forget. You know, being an Eagle Scout and the rank that you achieved is such a monumental achievement and you don't get there by just doing the bare minimum. It's your commitment, your leadership and your dedication to your leadership and your dedication to your community that got you here. And I won't speak for myself, I'll speak for everyone in this room that we are so unbelievably proud of you and this major accomplishment that you have achieved.

Speaker 2:

So, on behalf of the Massachusetts State Senate, I've brought you a citation that I will read Be it be known that the Massachusetts Senate hereby extends its congratulations to Lucas, in recognition of your outstanding achievement in attaining the highest rank in scouting in Eagle Scout. And be it further known that the Massachusetts Senate extends its best wishes for continued success. That this citation be signed by the president of the Senate and attested and copied thereof transmitted by the clerk. And we are all so proud of you. The skills that you've learned doing this are going to travel with you for the rest of your life, whether you're going to college, going into the workforce or learning a trade. Everything you've learned as an Eagle Scout is going to carry with you, and it's so great to see youth involvement, love that. So congratulations, lucas.

Speaker 1:

Is there anyone else that wanted to step forward?

Speaker 8:

Hello everybody. My name is Lauren Cloutier. Some of you might know me as Miss Clue. I'm the owner and chief instructor at Legacy Martial Arts and Fitness. They say that you should never meet your heroes, but Lucas Tost met me. August of 2021.

Speaker 8:

Where I had the opportunity to judge the second-degree black belt test. For those who don't know, the black belt test is a 10-hour, two-day skill and endurance test. It's a rigorous test of the mind, the body and spirit and at only 12 years old, this was Lucas' second black belt test. He's sitting small through three. His instructors and peers spoke very highly of him. I was impressed by his skill, his willingness to push forward under the most difficult circumstances and his utmost respect and loyalty to his dojo.

Speaker 8:

Soon Lucas became my student, my right-hand man on the mat and a good friend of mine. Through the last few years, I've not only had the opportunity to teach Lucas, but learn from him as well. His passion for whatever he applies himself to is admirable. He inspires my students daily by coaching both on and off the mat. He's a natural born leader, teacher and, overall, pretty swell guy. On behalf of myself and my students at Legacy Martial Arts and Fitness, thank you, mr Lucas, for your leadership, your coaching, your loyalty, your friendship and your incredibly convenient and much appreciated handyman skills. Please note that I am not thanking you for your sense of humor. From all of us at Legacy Martial Arts and Fitness congratulations, mr Lucas. Thank you. We have some that came in by mail.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to show a few and read a couple. Senator Warren from the US Senate sent a certificate of special recognition. We've got a few from the scout world. This is National Chair of Scouting. President and CEO. I'll let you read that on your own later. President of the National League of Scout Association. Northeast District District Executive. The Bristol Lodge Masons this is the group that was there of the night here. Order review. The American Legion this one came through.

Speaker 1:

Dear Eagle Scout tossed. Congratulations on the great milestone and honor be burning. The Boy Scouts highest rank. Rising to the rank of Eagle Scout is a remarkable and outstanding accomplishment, one which demonstrate the highest qualities of leadership and character, requiring hard work, principled dedication to service, community and direction. These attributes are essential to improving our shared civic life. You and your family, and each member of Troop 43 should be very proud, lucas. With this honor, you join a class of highly distinguished Americans, including members of Congress, governors, company executives and other public citizens, setting an example for your community. Your leadership efforts, as well as the dedication of your troop, help us all look forward to a bright future, signed by Maura Healey, the governor of Massachusetts, and Kim Driscoll, lieutenant Governor.

Speaker 1:

Dear Lucas, congratulations on being nominated for the rank of Eagle Scout. This is such an incredible achievement and a testament to all the hard work, dedication and leadership you've shown throughout your scouting journey. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is no small task. It takes perseverance, determination and commitment to making a positive difference, not just in your own life but in the lives of others. Your Eagle Scout service project in particular is an impressive reflection of your ability to lead and give back to your community in a meaningful way.

Speaker 1:

This milestone is something to be incredibly proud of, and it's clear you've earned it through your character, leadership and commitment to the values of scouting. These qualities will continue to serve you well, no matter where life takes you. As you celebrate this well-deserved honor, know that your family, friends and troop are all proud of you, and so am I. You've accomplished something truly special and I have no doubt that you'll go on to do even more amazing things in the future. Once again, congratulations. Keep aiming high and well on your way to making a lasting impact on the world and be great Do you know who it's from, mr Brian Shaw.

Speaker 1:

Do you know who it's from? Mr Brian Shaw. I have one, you don't. Just as a side note, mr Brian Shaw is the world's strongest man, or at one point was the world's strongest man, extremely into good fitness good setting goals for yourself.

Speaker 1:

But when you look at his resume, nowhere on there does it say he beat Mr Charlie in an arm wrestling match. Anybody else that we're missing? Anybody else want to step? We'll give these all to you. Actually, we'll set these all out, everyone can check them out, and then we can talk to more of you about it. We'll give these all to you. Actually, we'll set these all out, everyone can check them out, and then we can talk to everybody. Our troop leaders, charlie Himmel, jeremy Vince Galkwick and Sandro Ferrante, will now explain the obligations of an Eagle Scout and how each is represented in the physical Eagle badge being presented today.

Speaker 7:

Good afternoon everybody. Okay, so the Eagle's obligation, so the foremost responsibility of an Eagle Scout is to live with honor. To an Eagle Scout, honor is the foundation of all character. They know that a Scout is trustworthy is the very first point of the Scout law. For a good reason is trustworthy is the very first point of the scout law, for a good reason. May the white of the eagle badge remind you to always live with honor. The second obligation of an eagle scout is loyalty. The scout is true to their family, scout leaders, friends, school and nation. Their loyalty to their troop and fellow scouts makes them pitch in and carry their share of the load. Let the blue of the Eagle badge always inspire your loyalty.

Speaker 9:

The third obligation of the Eagle Scout is to be courageous. To a Scout, bravery means not only the courage to face physical danger, but the determination to stand up for what is right. They look forward to the challenges of each day, seeking to do their share of the world's work. Let the red and the eagle badge always remind you of courage. The fourth obligation of an Eagle Scout is to be cheerful. To remind the Eagle Scout to always wear a smile, the red, white and blue ribbon is attached to the scroll which has its ends turned out in a smile.

Speaker 5:

The final responsibility of an Eagle Scout is service. The Eagle Scout extends a helping hand to those who still toil up Scouting's trail, just as others help them in their climb to Eagle. The performance of the daily good turn takes on a new meaning when they enter a more adult life. Continuing service to others. The Eagle stands as a protector of the weak and the helpless. They uphold the rights of others while defending their own. You deserve much credit for having achieved scouting's highest award. Wear your award with humility, ever mindful that the Eagle Scout is looked up to as an example.

Speaker 1:

May the Scout Oath and the Scout Law be your guide for tomorrow and on. Thank you, gentlemen. I would now like to invite any Eagle Scouts in the audience to join me at the front to represent the lifelong brotherhood this man has joined. Now call upon Joe Harnoy, former troop committee chairman to deliver the eagle charge.

Speaker 10:

Lucas, you have been judged by the Boy Scouts of America as being worthy of the highest rank in this great movement. This position, as you know, is one of honor and responsibility. As an Eagle Scout, you assume a solemn obligation to do your duty to God, country, your fellow Scouts and mankind in general. This is a great undertaking. As you live up to this responsibility, you will bring honor to yourself and to your fellow Scouts. Therefore, I charge you to undertake this obligation and your citizenship with a solemn dedication. Do you promise to uphold the ideals of scouting, the scout oath and the scout law in your everyday life by seeking and achieving this rank? You are charged with continuing to live with honor, loyalty and courage. You are charged with continuing to live with honor, loyalty and courage. I am confident that you will be successful in that effort. Now I look forward to seeing you soar as an Eagle.

Speaker 1:

We challenge you to enter this Eagle Fellowship holding ever before you, without reservation, the ideals of honor and service. While the words are similar to those used without your scouting journey, they'll mean more now than ever. When you pledge yourself on your sacred honor, you will be sealing your eternal loyalty to the code of Eagle Scout.

Speaker 5:

Scoutmaster Sandro Ferrante will now administer the Eagle Scout promise Lucas, please raise your scout sign and repeat after me. I reaffirm my allegiance to the three promises of the Scout Oath. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself the obligations and responsibilities of the rank of Eagle Scout. The obligations and responsibilities of the rank of Eagle Scout. On my honor, on my honor, I will do my best. I will do my best To make my training an example. To make my training an example, my rank and my influence count strongly. My rank and my influence count strong. My rank, my influence. I'm strong for better scouting, for better scouting and for better citizenship, for better citizen in my true, in my truth and in my community and in my community and in my contacts with other people, in my contacts with.

Speaker 1:

To this I pledge my sacred honor. To this I pledge my sacred honor. Thank you to those eagles who joined to bear witness to the eagle charge and promise. And certainly the words that were just shared stir memories of your own eagle. Let this moment also serve to recommit your spirit toward the ideals of this highway. Once an eagle, always an eagle. You may take your seats, thank you. We now invite Frank Taryn Tost to join us for the pinning of the eagle badge Came off. It's got to go back on. No one will ever know the countless acts of self-sacrifice and helpfulness from the parents of this Eagle Scout. To honor your love, encouragement and assistance over the years, I now ask you to send the last time. Thank you, scoutmaster Sandra Ferrante will now present Eagle Certificates.

Speaker 5:

The official Eagle Scout certificate is a rare piece of honor bestowed upon the Eagle Scout, along with the Eagle patch and the Eagle medal. This is our gift from the troop to you to show what you have achieved in a short time in your life. You are still 17 and you have done quite a bit in those 17 years. So, with humility but also, I bestow this upon you.

Speaker 1:

Lucas, this is not the end. It's not the end of the trail, but rather the beginning of a new era in your life. You ventured into an elite brotherhood of scouts who have made a commitment to the scout oath and law. You will always be an Eagle Scout and will be expected to conduct yourself accordingly. Strive to live your life so that if people discover you are an Eagle Scout, they will be impressed and unsurprised. It gives me great pleasure to present to you True 43's newest Eagle Scout and quite possibly someday, its future Scout, master Lucas. Toth Lucas has asked for a moment to share his appreciation for those who have helped him on his journey, so floor is yours. When I was awarded my pin from council, I also got three more pins. I got a pin for my mom, my dad and a pin to give to an Eagle mentor that has helped me along the way. I went out and I purchased more mentor pins because I felt one person didn't just impact me in my life.

Speaker 10:

I wish I could give a pin to all of the leaders, but I can't, so I'd like to invite Mr Joe Harnois and Mr.

Speaker 5:

Simon Fronte up. Thank you.

Speaker 1:

Just to continue the awarding of pins, we would now like to present Lucas with the final recognition of his youth scouting career. Eagle Poms Not every Eagle Scout gets Eagle Poms. We have some Eagle Poms. Eagle palms Not every Eagle Scout gets eagle palms. We have some eagle palms. They're awarded to those Eagle Scouts who remain active in their troop, continue to live up to the Scout oath and law and have earned more merit badges than required. In his last few weeks, lucas has upped the pace of merit badging. There may have been some competitive juices fueling that. These are past people and other things. That's all good. Each palm represents five additional badges, so Lucas ended up with 36. So he ends up with three palms. Order that these are presented in there has to be a history to this. But you receive bronze first congratulations, then gold, then silver. Thank you for your continued dedication to our troop after earning your Eagle rank and setting such a quality leadership example for our members. In addition, to.

Speaker 10:

I think you should let an eagle actually pin them on. Oh, can you get them in there?

Speaker 1:

I have one of mine. These can go next to yours.

Speaker 3:

Wait, where is the eagle? These can go next to yours if they want. Wait, where is the next one?

Speaker 1:

Oh, there's the big one. In addition to honoring our latest Eagle Scout today, the troop would like to take this opportunity to honor Lucas' parents, our longtime Scoutmaster Frank Tost, and our recently retired troop treasurer, karen Tost. Frank has been with the troop throughout both of his son's journeys to Eagle. For years he has supported all the boys in the troop at meetings, campouts, service projects, fundraisers. His commitment, guidance and humor have been appreciated throughout his time with 342. And beyond being the guiding motherly force behind two Eagle Scouts, karen is the reason we have such an organized process to track our wreath sales, bottle redemptions and scout accounts. She's kept us all in line, financially and otherwise. Our current Scoutmaster, sandra Ferrante, will now share more about her appreciation.

Speaker 5:

Brad Tost, scoutmaster when my son crossed over from a Cub Scout to 43. And at the time when he crossed over I said hey, if you guys ever need a hand, just let me know. And I thought that was the end of it. I made the mistake one night of driving my son to the Scout meeting and Frank was there to intercept me and ambush me and said hey, remember what you said. And so started my life as a Scout leader.

Speaker 5:

Frank has always set the bar, I think, for all of the leaders, in terms of his level-headedness, his humor, his cheerfulness. I think all the scouts have a fondness out of respect not only to Lucas's achievements but to Frank Toss' leadership, and we can't begin to thank him for his years of serving the truth. I think he's earned some time to step back and you know maybe not have to wake up early in the morning on the weekend for a change, or you know have to go out into the cold and camp once a month. You can take it easy for a bit and if he so chooses, we would welcome him back. We do have a token of our appreciation for you, frank. It is a troop flag signed by all the current scouts and a couple of the former scouts and other leaders, sabina and such. I see some others in the audience who crept in before we could get you to sign, so we're going to leave this out with a marker. So please, other Eagles and troop affiliates, please come and sign as well before we let you take this off. Thank you.

Speaker 5:

A round of applause for Mr T. Now, as good as Frank is, he's only as good because of his partner. Mrs Tots has been there every step of the way, helping him to perform his duties as Scoutmaster and helping the troop function. She stepped in as Packmaster for the Cub Scout Pack when he moved up to the troop and she also then continued to help with the invoicing, the billing, the logistics, all the things that go on behind the scenes that very few scouts realize are required to have the pack and troops function. So we cannot begin to thank you for all you've done, mrs Thomas, karen. So please accept this gift from us for just a little. Thank you for everything you've done. Thank you. One more Thank you.

Speaker 1:

That's not it that have a stain. This formally closes our Court of Honor. Deacon Kevin, would you like to join us again to offer a closing comment? Sure.

Speaker 4:

Amen, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen, heavenly Father, you and you alone know which to us is the better scale, so we will not debate that any further today, but leave that in your infinite wisdom. I assume we're ready to eat so we can do the blessing of the food now too. So we ask the Lord to bless all these future scouts, to bless Lucas in his continued career, and we ask the Lord to bless this food as we pray. Bless us, oh Lord, in these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty. Through Christ, our Lord, amen, amen.

Speaker 1:
