A single agenda item can reveal what a town is really made of. We start with a request from Raynham Giants cheerleading to place a memorial megaphone for Emily Wilbur on the announcer’s booth at Benton Court Memorial Field, alongside existing memorials. Hearing Emily’s story of coaching through a devastating osteosarcoma diagnosis puts the room in a different frame of mind, and we talk through how to do the tribute the right way while coordinating with the right boards and the schools.
Then we shift into the day-to-day reality of parks and recreation management: capital planning headed toward town meeting, timelines, and the uncertainty of what funding will actually be available. We also share a childcare program update, including licensing renewal steps, staffing changes, and how we support the staff who keep things steady when a team is stretched thin.
From there, we look ahead to fall programming and logistics, including Trunk or Treat planning and what it takes to host an event that can bring hundreds of kids through in one night. We also dig into a big operational question for local government: how we go paperless responsibly. Tablets, cloud storage, servers, e-signatures, Microsoft licensing, record retention, and backups all come up because modernizing public records is about trust as much as technology. We wrap with commissioner updates on gardens, fields, horse shows, and what a regional animal control change means for town facilities going forward.
If you care about youth sports, municipal recreation, community events, and practical local government decisions, subscribe, share this with a neighbor, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.

Call To Order And Minutes
SPEAKER_01Uh approval of the minutes. I'll make a motion to approve the minutes at the second rate meeting. Oh second rate?
SPEAKER_10Can I? Yeah. Yes. You ahead? Okay. Okay. Yes, you're here. Okay. I know I missed one recently. Oh July. Okay. All right.
SPEAKER_02Good. Hi. Hi. Organizational representative, town officials, community member, everybody.
SPEAKER_07Hi Katie. Hi everyone.
Request To Add Memorial Megaphone
unknownHi.
SPEAKER_07This is what I just wanted to talk about.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. If you would just give us uh your full name and your address, please for the record.
SPEAKER_06I am Katie Demetrick and I live at 817 North Main Street in Rainham.
SPEAKER_08Thank you. Welcome.
SPEAKER_06Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER_08So uh just want to tell us, I know you're not going back and forth, but just want to fill a commission uh while you're here, and uh what are your thoughts there?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, okay. So um I'm here representing Rainham Giants cheerleading. I'm here to um ask permission to add a memorial megaphone for Emily Wilbur on the announcers booth at the Ryan Beton Court Field alongside the other memorials. Um Emily was a Ringham Giants cheerleader for many years. During her eighth grade year, um she competed with us. And on a Saturday and on Wednesday, unfortunately, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Um, in the middle of receiving this terrible diagnosis, she never she was more afraid of letting her team down than let than what she was um told by the doctors. Um she didn't let that take away her time with the Giants. She continued to coach for us the remainder of her eighth grade year and then came back the following year and actually coached a team that went on to a championship. Um, unfortunately, she has since passed on August 24th of this year. So um, you know, I feel like Emily, the the community just rallied around her so well. Um and I think that you know her story is important to my name. So um I would ask the approval to be able to add a megaphone with her name on it or um whatever criteria you guys ask us to meet um and put it on the announcers booth uh by the board.
SPEAKER_10Silly question, but did you talk to Fort Paula by the way?
SPEAKER_06Um no, I didn't talk to Ryan. I don't I can though, I would.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I mean I know uh you know I know it's Mary Lou's up there. I don't know if there's another megaphone up there. I can't remember.
SPEAKER_06No. And also Mary Lou's could use like a refurbish. So when I got Emily's, I would also review Mary Lou's if that was something that we need a notice. Um so they both look shiny up there and right now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_10I mean I certainly I'm certainly not opposed to it at all. Uh I think it's uh I don't think it's appropriate. I just would uh I would loop in uh Ryan or whoever on that board ahead of time.
SPEAKER_07Sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_08Um that's my thoughts. Like I said, our discussions, I think it's a wonderful idea what you guys are doing. And uh you have I supported tool. Thank you. And I'm sure Ryan's not gonna either, but I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_06In passing, but not officially. We haven't talked about it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I don't have any problems with it. I think it's a great idea.
SPEAKER_01You know, I think it, you know, I didn't know her personally, but from what I've seen, whatever she's seen, you know, like her just a staple uranium giant shear, and you know, those kids seem to really look up to her, and all the parents really wanted to, so I would be that I think that would be a great thing for her.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_10What was her name again?
SPEAKER_03How many Wilbur?
SPEAKER_10Wilbur.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_08You guys held that really nice event last year during how you guys did a wonderful job on setting right now.
SPEAKER_06So the community rally, yeah. It was so moving to see that. I mean, it wasn't just the Rainham Giants organization, it was like the town rally we came out and support her. That was just awesome. We even just had a um link a candlelight ceremony at our house before she passed. And again, just a community rally people I've never met before, which is you know filled her front yard.
SPEAKER_10Well, I'll make a motion to uh approve uh the request of the Ranger and Giants cheer program to add a megaphone to the announcing shed at Benton Court Memorial Field. I will second that motion. All in favor.
SPEAKER_00Aye.
Installation Plan And Who To Loop In
SPEAKER_08And like I said, Katie, maybe want to talk to uh Ray Milan, and he might be able to help you get that megaphone.
SPEAKER_10I I don't know where they got the those helmets, and that was all Derek Perry and um so I don't know where they I I would imagine Ryan knows where those footballs and megaphones were made. Yeah, but Derek Perry had those all redone back when they maybe about 10 years ago when they redid that top that the top that shed up top there.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, or Jeremy Milleski might be.
SPEAKER_10Jeremy and he and Jeremy. If Ryan doesn't know, yeah, definitely they yeah, Jerry, Jeremy would definitely know.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_10I can I'll text him right now.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I was yeah, we're very close.
SPEAKER_10Oh well tell them I said hi and fun though. I will.
SPEAKER_08So you know, that'll be great. And if you need anything from us, please uh don't hesitate to reach out to me and I'll help you in with that job.
SPEAKER_06Yes, um thanks guys. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_10Not that uh any work that gets done down there, just make sure the schools are looped in, the principals.
SPEAKER_06So I was thinking obviously we're going to need a lift of some sort to get up there. I don't think a ladder is going to reach, so I'll need to get a lift. Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_10You don't know, you think uh I again I would talk to Ryan when the time obviously he's gonna agree to this, but when the time comes to install it, just make sure the schools are on board. I don't think you can need a lift down there. I think one person one or two guys on a couple ladders. Oh you know, I don't know if I'm assuming it's just a few screws. Yeah. You know, driven into that that T11 flywheel and solved.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_10Shouldn't be two different. Just let the schools know. Yeah, they might not even let you do it during the week. Yeah, if you do it on Saturday and Sunday, you don't have a problem.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Right, but if it's if somebody at the sign maker says, okay, we'll come and install it on Thursday, just make sure the school knows or tell them to do it on the weekend.
SPEAKER_08And I can help you with the schools as well. I can talk to the principal. Yeah. So do you can just reach out and say that you know, can we call them all next Wednesday, for example? So you know I can reach out to all the principals and talk to them.
SPEAKER_07Okay, great. Awesome. Thanks.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_07Thank you. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_02See, aimless.
SPEAKER_07I'll scooch out now, maybe it's gonna figure you out.
SPEAKER_09Scooch away.
SPEAKER_07Thanks so much. Have a great day. Thanks for having me. Bye guys.
SPEAKER_09Good.
SPEAKER_10Cheer dad.
unknownYep. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was it was my because my wife was very close with the family.
SPEAKER_10What was the diagnosis?
SPEAKER_02Uh can I don't know the exact term, but cancer. Yeah. And her thigh. Yeah. It was yeah, my my daughter was friends with her stupid. Yes. I yeah. Me and like kids, stuff like that, that bothers me.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Yeah, me too. Sorry. Yeah.
Capital Warrant And Town Meeting Timing
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_08Old business. Old business. Uh quick meeting tonight, guys, which is a couple of things. Uh, first of all, I want to let you know I submitted my final paperwork today to the uh finance office regarding what we want to have on the agenda for, I'm sorry, on the warrant for town meeting, which is on November 17th, uh, for capital. I'll find out at the end of October if we even have a shot at that, because a lot of the money that's in free cash right now is earmarked towards the public safety bill. So we'll hopefully we can have enough for us, but we're gonna see what we're gonna find out. That's been all submitted by just an updated number, so we're also gonna do some engineering. So we're gonna reposition the core a little bit so it's more parallel with the road and also expand the the area just a little bit. So everything looks good there. I'll keep you guys informed on that one. Again, uh town meeting is set up for Tuesday, November 17th at RMS.
Childcare Licensing And Staffing Changes
SPEAKER_08Uh, just a quick update on childcare. Uh so far, so good. Uh right now we're just waiting on our licensor to come because we are for renewal at the Liberty.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Uh no real major concerns, just have to go through the process as we always do. Uh and as you guys know, uh Bethany is no longer with us. Uh it's gonna be something that we have to look at uh while we're placing the acquisition or some other ideas, but that's something we can cross that bridge. Right now, tonight is on the agenda with the selectmen to give us permission to hire somebody. I have to go through that process now. Uh and then uh we can figure out if we want to do some reorganization or hire and then go from there. Okay. But also want to thank Sammy, who's been doing some morning hours helping us out, and uh Heather Nix has been helping us out as well quite a bit in the afternoon as I'm bouncing around.
SPEAKER_10So thank you both, Sammy and in the absence of that director and keeping in mind we have two other staff members working beyond their uh beyond the scope of their responsibilities, is there a way that we can provide person and um Heather with some additional compensation?
SPEAKER_08We have been able to do that. Okay, that's been in the uh it's been in the on the time, so yeah. So right now they aren't getting
Supporting Staff With Extra Hours
SPEAKER_08more compensation. Yeah, okay. And uh it's up to them if they want. I can either pay them more out of the child care budget, or if they decide they want comp hours, they can do that as well. So right now, everything's been good. They disagree with that, Sammy. I'll ask you it's all been very appreciated. All right, so again, thank you, thank you, thank you. Yeah, thank you. All right, that is it for old business, guys. New business.
Trunk Or Treat Logistics And Crowd Size
SPEAKER_08New business. Uh, just a quick reminder that we have our our big event of trunk or treats. Yeah. Uh two weeks from Thursday on October 22nd. Uh right now we have approximately 25 cars still working on getting some more staff to help us out like they get to at least 30. But last year we had approximately 500 kids come. And uh it's a great event, a lot of fun. And we set it up for pre-K through second graders, but if more kids come, that's fine. But we got to put up the whole town. I don't think we'd have enough parking onboarding colony for to handle that. And also also the Dairy Me Jr. there that night selling food in the parking lot, you know, for people waiting to get through or have some dinner on their way home. And the pass play of the bears that night, so let's keep it. It's gonna be a busy night. Yes, it will be. Yes, it will be. So that's it for a trunk of treatment.
Tablets To Cut Paper And Save Space
SPEAKER_08Uh the next thing I have on there, guys, is uh technology equipment for the programs. We are really running out of room storing all files, paper at the office right now. If you if you're gone upstairs, the bathroom, a couple of the extra rooms we have upstairs are being filled with files. And by law, we have to keep trials on up to seven years. So we're running out of room. So I did get some quotes from the town regarding getting some tablets which will allow us to keep track of attendances, have parents sign out on tablets, and if I have to bring up the records or to print stuff out for the state or for anything else, I can still do that. I wanted to get your thoughts, and if you're for it, get your permission to move forward so we can get more of the technology and save on all this paper that we're wasting, I shouldn't say wasting, but storing because it's piles and piles of it, whether it's summer program, childcare, just wanted to get your thoughts on that.
SPEAKER_10My only concern is that if you lose a drive, a file, you know, uh uh electronically, what do you have for backup?
SPEAKER_08That'll go into the cloud that we'll have, you know, regarding the system that the guys are going for, because that'll all be in there. That's what I was talking to uh MX Consulting so that stuff can get stored. If we if I have to go back, you know, you have to pay a fee? It's gonna be part of the a fee base? Yes.
SPEAKER_10Just for just to make it once maintaining it. Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so you're paying for space. Or it's no different than if there was a flood or a fire right now in the building.
SPEAKER_10Well, if there's a flood or a fire in the building, then you're gonna lose both your electronic and your paper. Well, the electronics sort off site. Yeah, it'll be in the flood. Yeah, no, I mean currently. Yes. Yes, present. I mean, I don't know, what do they want or charge, but I mean I I'm just trying to think. Would it be cheaper? Who's the IT person for the town? It's MX Consultant. They work for the town? Yes. So we don't have the ringing, does not have their own IT person?
SPEAKER_08No, we'll actually used to be uh Tim on. Tim Graybard, yeah. Thank you. Tim Graybard is but now the town for several years now has been using MX Consultant. Really? Yes, sir. Oh yeah. This one has two IT people. Yep, so I I've got we've gotten to know them pretty well, would you say, Sammy? Yeah. MX? Yes. Because our office just with uh the wire, you know, it's being an older building, we'll have like the what do they charge? I'll have to check with the town, but it goes to the the servers are at town hall if they charge for that, but I can figure out where they're gonna charge for that.
SPEAKER_10The servers are at town hall, yes. So where's the cloud located?
SPEAKER_08Well the cloud would be somewhere else, but I'm gonna find out.
SPEAKER_10So it's being stored on two services.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, with town server, yes. So just just uh just a thought. Yeah, trying to figure out a way because we are just running out of space desperately. Can we store the paperwork over at North School with all the other town's paperwork? If we need it? I could ask. I don't know how much space they have left over there. Because I know the police are eventually gonna be in there pretty soon, so I don't know what's that's what that's what I hear, right?
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Yeah. So I'm just I'll just out there in case anybody wants to. You never know. No, I I agree with that, sir. Well, we could use the Chincana building to store files.
SPEAKER_08That's a whole nother conversation conversation. All right, all right. That's a whole other conversation. Keep my mouth shut. And uh that's really it for new business because we're up the there were no fall permits came in, because we're at that point of the year where we're coming in, we're not coming into the season, and we won't see many permits again until uh the first of the year. But I always keep that on there because you never know what you fall thought. And we do have that event just to give you guys a heads up on November 21st. They're gonna have the squirrel BMX race out here on uh the Saturday of Florida before Thanksgiving. So that is it for new business. All right.
SPEAKER_10You gotta
Cloud Backups, Servers, And Security
SPEAKER_10buy you have to buy a license every year for each one of those tablets? Microsoft license, yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_08Of course, the whole tablet we have to do that for basically every if you want to use Microsoft. Yeah, there's that's Microsoft, and then there's another very different one on the uh what's the other one? Samsung? What's the other one? Yep, Samsung was the other tablet. Oh, these are two different quotes on the same thing? Two different types of tablets. One's more advanced, and uses a workstation off site. Uh Samsung cannot, Microsoft can. But they both do store and I did check with uh Myra, who our that's our vendor for our recreation software. We can sign and store all information on there as well.
SPEAKER_10Do you also have to each one of those tablets has to have uh do they all have to have a subscription to Verizon or anything like that?
SPEAKER_08That'll all be part of like the uh packages working on for us. We just add to our Verizon bill, which we pay through the town phones over again.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Schools don't have Wi-Fi, do they?
SPEAKER_08They do. How how good is the times? That's another story, but they do have it.
SPEAKER_10Well, as long as the teachers are staying off of uh Instagram.
SPEAKER_08That's a huge difference. Yeah. Massive difference, isn't it? Yeah. It's double the price, yeah. 2.25 to be precise.
SPEAKER_02It seems like the Microsoft wants a laptop that they use an as a tablet. Yes. Whereas the Galaxy is an actual tablet.
SPEAKER_09Yes. What do you want to do? Where are you leaving?
SPEAKER_08I've gone back and forth on this, to be honest with you. I hate to say it, and I know it's gonna sound bad, but I think the Microsoft one case where you get more information would be better for us when we're off site.
SPEAKER_02So with the laptops, are you able to supplement them with your desktops? So, in other words, get rid of the desktops and you all just have a laptop.
SPEAKER_08It would work for me to have one, it would work for Heather, but the other two I would have down at the sites. Keep there, to keep there, and whether we lock them in one in Bethany's office and the other one in the cabins we have with Meryl so they can pull them over, because that's would have to be signed. Yeah. You know, because we don't have the only reason we're doing this, if we do go forward, is to have the ability to try to one catch up with the times, two to eliminate all this paper that we have everywhere and just make it more simple for everybody. The first few weeks, obviously, I'd be doing, if we did go in this direction, they'd be doing both to make sure the testing is working. But once we got through the testing, move forward.
SPEAKER_10Have you inquired as to whether we're responsible for keeping products?
SPEAKER_08I have. Yeah, say we have to keep it for seven years.
SPEAKER_10Um talking moving forward, you want to buy the tablets or the laptops that get rid of paper.
SPEAKER_08Oh, so like new paper that we create?
SPEAKER_10Are we required to continue to no because it would be on the drive? I understand. I just want to I want to make sure that when there's not a requirement to keep a paper copy.
SPEAKER_08No, no, no, no, not that I'm aware of because everything now, even like the state, all there we go through for real license, everything is through the computer, all the paper copies. I do I double up just for my own safety for that stuff, I have binders, but everything now is through me. They only want to see a hard paper copy.
SPEAKER_02Everything goes into the computer and my my previous position at my current deployment. Everything was paper until you finalized it, and then it was digital, all on a thumb drive. But you still have to have the banker's boxes of paper. It's like But I just gave you a thumb play. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09The thumb drive suffice.
SPEAKER_10Well, I asked because at my current employment, they we have boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes of paper, and the managers continue to dual doal dual work. They're entering it into the computer, but they're also printing it on paper and storing it. Well, and that's you know, that's a corporation. So that's why I'm asking.
SPEAKER_08And to me, that defeats the purpose. If that's the key, if it's from what I've been told, we're fine with everything being saved on the on the drive. I mean, there's still things I have to purchase I can physically sign. Yes, I scan it in, goes to the computer, and once it's on the drive, it's there.
SPEAKER_02Does it require a wet signature though, or will a uh digital signature suffice?
SPEAKER_08E signature will suffice.
SPEAKER_02So you can theoretically do away with all people.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. I mean, I'm on board as long as you checked every box, yeah. I just want to make sure. No, no, I should check it out.
SPEAKER_02Get a parent that's got a question, sign something, send the email, and then come back within seconds. It's great. Having the ability to pull up a document real quick. It's awesome. Until it's the way the world's going.
SPEAKER_10Well, what happens if you don't have any power?
SPEAKER_02Then you've got bigger issues to worry about. But is does the town require a power redundancy?
SPEAKER_10I don't understand the question.
SPEAKER_02So, in other words, town hall loses power. Are they required to keep their servers up? They but they they do.
SPEAKER_08They have a generator.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they have so they have a backup. So then the servers won't go down.
SPEAKER_08And the schools have backup generators as well.
SPEAKER_02If it's all if the class is at town hall, as long as the town hall's got power, the servers have power.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_02But then if the resident doesn't have power. That's on that.
SPEAKER_09That's a different celebration.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Yes. And when power goes up. But as a but as a as a town, we're we're required to help our residents. So if we have a resident that can't do anything because they don't have power, that would be good.
SPEAKER_02Well, TMLP is great at responsive, so I'm not worried about it. I wish I had TMLP I think.
SPEAKER_08I will never live in a town, but he's crystal.
SPEAKER_00Embarrassing.
SPEAKER_08It's half my bill every month. And I have sore.
SPEAKER_02That's a topic for another discussion. Soleil? Jamie East. No, that's a rabbit hole we go down for days. Utility bills.
SPEAKER_08I'll take the MLP over what I have. Yes. A day and a week. That's all I can tell you. Yes. Middleboro gas allowed. I had that one I lived in middle Walton. Yeah. They did a great job.
SPEAKER_02Alright.
Commissioner Updates And Seasonal Plans
SPEAKER_02Commissioner's reports.
SPEAKER_00I just am looking forward to the trick retreat. I dragged my uh folks at home down there, they love it, and I'm looking forward to just hitting that again. Everybody did such a wonderful job of it, so I'm looking forward to this year and looking forward to the different things and stuff. So awesome.
SPEAKER_09I got nothing. Okay. I'm good.
Community Garden Close And Offseason Ideas
SPEAKER_05Um just letting you guys know the garden closes on the 31st, which is a Saturday, I believe. Um I'm gonna send out an email to the residents, but some people have already turned in their keys and it looks pretty clean down there, so I have no concerns. Um we talked about possibly weatherizing that, I think, in the term later in the future. Some residents inquired about that for next year so that can be up for discussion. Um they wanna essentially pay for their plot to keep it and maintain it until the year so that it's ready to go come the next season. Which if it means we have users, I don't have a problem with as long as we are keeping and monitoring it. But um you never know. I mean, we already had an issue with someone trying to steal some stuff out of a resident's garden a few weeks ago. So they were caught by the resident like a couple pump plants and pumpkins or something, they they caught the fence and do it. So I'm not sure how we feel about it. Um it's just an option if some residents are willing to pay for it. I think that's another story if they want to that bad. Um, I don't foresee a lot of people doing that. Um, and I think that they would have to be approved and apply for that so that we can keep an eye on which residents are going to be there. So we can talk about that another time, but I would just I want to put that in the guys' head on for this upcoming team because I do have a few uh full-time gardeners that teach you really care. And I don't think it would hurt to have people down there. Um they really care about that area, so I think we'll get sure.
SPEAKER_10It's good to know that people really care.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and maybe next season get some wagons out there so they don't have to go back and forth. It's just silly little things I want to just keep improving. Um we're almost there. We did we did really well with the fence and the locks and uh that kind of stuff to keeping them from driving out there, but there are just a few other things on the list that I'd like to get done. So we got plenty of time to think about it.
SPEAKER_08Sammy said they put the split rail fence up because we did have some residents driving to their plots. And in the past, we've had some people hit the spigots causing geysers, so we did put up uh Olson's thank you to them. They did put up some nice new uh spigots for us this year. And uh trying to put other people's cars and not actually. How the hell did they get a car with a gate locked? They have the keys for what they have keys to get in there, they were allowed to go in through the city.
SPEAKER_10Oh, so the act the people that were actually gardening in there drove their vehicles in there. Yes.
SPEAKER_05So they that select resident was actually non-resident, but we approved to let non-residents in this year. Yeah, yeah. Um everyone else was fine, um, but we had the same multiple complaints over one single resident. So that's why I think that if somebody wanted to spend all year out there, they would have to additionally apply for the permission through a forum of some kind so that we can say, Yeah, yes, we trust you.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. You know. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. But that's just something to think about. We don't, and if it's a no, it's a no, but just a thought, because I know some would really like to do that, so but that's all we got.
SPEAKER_08Thank you, Sammy. Just a couple of quick things
Fields, Irrigation, And Horse Show Notes
SPEAKER_08for me. Uh with all the rain we've had, we have the irrigation turned off. Water is still turned on, but right now, no field right now needs any water. It's it's doing fine. Trying to grow grass. True, true. My long hit by some type of disease and required, so I'm not happy about that. But uh, you know, we had to leave the water turned on until early November. Give the leagues a chance to clean out both concession stands once they're years over and then we'll turn it off officially for the season. Uh, just so you know, there's gonna be a makeup horseshoe this week. I have reached out to uh Mass Ruff Risers to remind them, keep your trucks and trailers parked high because down low it's still it's gotten better, but it's still soft, just to keep them going.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's uh the area was taped off a rainy day or whatever.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it wasn't as bad as I expected. We walked it, but it was still soft. And anybody could put a car on it.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I was gonna say earlier in the year when it was dry, it was not bad. Actually, there were trucks parked on it when I went by during the uh one horse show and I just stopped and spoke with them. Yeah. So they knew to be careful pulling out of there and also not to park there in the future.
SPEAKER_08I believe that'll be their last show of the year, the last one they uh they reached out to me and uh also had it when I was away on vacation, so they asked me to do one more for a problem, and the weather's nice.
SPEAKER_10That I guess that would be my commissioner's report, but now that I'm thinking about it. I'm I'm ecstatic about the horse shows that they do down here. If you if you're down here and you see that they they get something on stick around and watch some barrel racing. It's very entertaining. The barrel racing is awesome. Yeah. And if you have a dog, bring your dog because my dog loves watching it. He just sits there and watches it. He can sit there and watch it. No dogs at Bentoncourt field. No dogs anywhere, no dogs in any field, right? That's what the sign says.
SPEAKER_08My dog hates horses. Somebody was walking taking a horse down the road the other day. First time she ever saw one, went nuts. Hair spiked in the back.
SPEAKER_10The big animals.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's no idea what it was. My dog's not that smart.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, she loves it. Just sits there and watches it.
SPEAKER_05That's awesome.
Regional Animal Control And Building Options
SPEAKER_08Uh and Chris, just to go back to something you brought up regarding the uh ACO building, Jim Connor. Uh as of this Thursday, Rainham is officially partnering with Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, on a over regionalized ACO. And all dogs are going to be going to Lakeville. So, right now, the ACO building, if any dogs go in there, is just for the day. It's not going to be overnight, anything more. And there's going to be one ACO person, and that's out of out of Bridgewater. So they'll be taking care of all three towns. It's a matter of it's something that we want to look at. What are we going to do with that other side? I know I talked to Greg, had some brief conversations regarding what the other side may be. But if you guys have any thoughts when I have my next conversation with Greg about the ACO building, what do we want to do? I mean, as you know, that's still under our perfume. We're in charge of that building. Do we want to keep that? Do we want to look at other options? What is a department that we want to see happen to that other side? Just something to really get your minds on.
SPEAKER_10I don't even want to talk about it. I go over that. I'm disgusted. So spent over 250,000 for nothing. Because of one person, one of two people's personal agendas.
SPEAKER_08Alright. So just something you guys know. Yeah. Putting your minds in the background, we'll have more conversations right now going forward.
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry, Mr. I just thought of this. But is there any way that the town excuse me, the town would remodel to approve to help? Like, I don't know if there's anything we can put over there that helps you with the horse with the horses that it's already designed so for animals. I mean there's kennels out there that's not going to do anything, but is there any way that if they put in the money for that, they are able to maybe utilize the imperial more?
SPEAKER_10Is that what you're talking about?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like I don't know, for grooming just something as simple as troughs, grooming, something we can put out there to help the horses that use the building on that side if they're gonna. I mean, it's already half built for animals, but I mean they're a lot smaller than horses, which is something to consider.
unknownI don't know. I know.
SPEAKER_10That was that was where my brain went right away. It was like it's the Gicana building is there for horses. That's where they're sold.
SPEAKER_05Something area, some kind of something for the horseshoes, like a little blacksmith shop. Yeah, like something, yeah.
SPEAKER_08A little kitchen so they could, you know, sell during their shows. Yeah, food or something, yeah. Yeah, because we used to have that kitchen in in the old one, as you remember. Yeah, and they use that. That was a big part of it.
SPEAKER_10That's they they raised a lot of money selling food. Yep. So maybe we maybe we should have a discussion with reference. They seem to be the only people that really use it.
SPEAKER_08We've had a couple other people, you know, uh Skip Crossman did some meetings out of there for training of umpires. Yeah. We've had a couple other meetings, but unfortunately that that space over there isn't big enough to really hold a meeting. The boy scouts came to me, but they have like 25 people who want to be there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I said you I'll gladly show you the room, but it it's too small. They have using the line squad, which is a lot more space for one for that. So I just wanted to put that thought in your head, guys. So that's where we're at. But that's
Final Thanks And Wrap Up
SPEAKER_08it for me. And again, a big thank you to Heather and Sammy for all the hard work over the past few months, especially with the child care and helping me get everything ready. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Alrighty. That's it for me, guys. I'm ready to welcome you right.
