Lost, Educated, or Executing: Your Next Step.

Jay Rhodes Episode 74
Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back to another episode of Train for a Great Life. I saw an Instagram post this morning that was so good and so simple and so spot on that I'm actually going to record a podcast about it and I'm going to flush out some thoughts on it, both on why it's important and like what the anti-goal would be. I think it's going to simplify things and really simplify a lot of confusion that people face in terms of, like, next steps in wherever they're at. The first one is, if you're lost, the answer is education. The second one is, if you're educated, the answer is execution. And the third is, if you're executing, the answer is consistency.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so, whether this is fitness, family, business or building wealth or improving your finances or just personal growth, these are three stages that we find ourselves in Okay, being lost, being educated but stuck, or executing, but needing consistency and not getting distracted. Let's unpack, okay. Number one if you're lost, the answer is education. We've all been there stuck, frustrated, feeling like we have no clue what the next step should be. If this is you, your solution is education, and I don't mean reading a book or browsing Instagram quotes for motivation. I mean actively finding someone who is doing what you aspire to do. Pay attention to them Better, pay them for their time, take their course, get into their group, talk to them. Never in the history of the world has access to expertise been easier. The barrier is not information. Today, you might have to be able to discern what information is good and what is not, and that's where getting access to someone who's already done the thing can help you. It's your willingness to engage and commit. You can shortcut years, decades of wandering by leaning into someone else's expertise. Why try to figure out everything on your own when the answers are literally at your fingertips? The anti-goal here is to stay lost by trying to do everything yourself. Don't ask questions. Convince yourself that those who are successful got lucky or cheated somehow, or that they don't deserve it. The scarcity mindset will ensure that you stay stuck. Number two if you're educated, the answer is execution. Okay, so you've invested in courses, read the books, listened to a thousand podcasts. You know the next step, or at least one very viable step, but you're paralyzed by endless analysis. Here is a blunt truth you don't need the perfect next step, you just need movement. Stop thinking, stop pondering, stop weighing endless options and just start doing. Progress happens through action, not contemplation, and learning happens through action. You learn along the way. You don't just decide to do the next thing, know everything about it and then do it. It doesn't work like that. Don't fool yourself into believing that constant research is productivity. It's only productive if it leads to action. There's a lot of people in this spot, a lot of smart people, that are stuck. The anti-goal here is to stay stuck by constantly searching for the perfect solution. Evaluate everything, feel productive without actually producing anything. Convince yourself that you're smarter than you actually are without proving it through action. Ouch, that one stings. I have been there. Number three if you're executing, the answer is consistency. Okay, so you're taking action, you're moving, you've built momentum Awesome. If you start jumping around chasing distractions, shiny objects, the woman in the red dress, you'll sabotage your own success. Consistency is your multiplier. Okay.

Speaker 1:

Einstein called compounding interest the eighth wonder of the world, saying he who understands it earns it and he who doesn't pays it. This is not just about money, it's about life. Fitness routines compound into stronger bodies and clearer minds. Do you think that makes things easier? Good habits compound into easier, healthier lifestyle. Unfortunately, the inverse is true as well. Good habits compound into easier, healthier lifestyle. Unfortunately, the inverse is true as well. Bad habits compound. Alcohol tolerance, addiction, complacency, poor choices they all get easier to make as you indulge in them. Let's talk family Consistency in spending real, undistracted, loving time with your family. That will compound as well. Your partner and your kids build core memories around those moments. Have you seen the movie Inside Out? Do you think they got it wrong? You're building these things and they're shaping how the next interactions happen. Even if you don't see it immediately, the small, consistent actions add up. Your kids learn that you're present, available and engaged. They feel safe and loved. That's powerful compounding.

Speaker 1:

The anti-goal here is to chase distractions. Follow every new trend, dive down every rabbit hole and dilute your focus. Sacrifice your best habits for immediate gratification. That is the fastest way to lose everything you've built. So, wrapping it up, the quick takeaway if you're lost, educate. If you're educated, execute. And if you're executing, double down on consistency. Avoid the anti-goals. Stay aware. It's a huge piece of this staying aware and keep building toward a great life for yourself. Thank you for listening. I'll see you in the gym.
