SPEAKER_00Hello and welcome back to another episode of Train for a Great Life. We're gonna talk about the open the open magic has struck again. When we talk about the open magic, um you really see it come out on a week like this week too, 26.2 versus last week 26.1. And it's all about in how a workout is structured. So week one, week one was beautiful. It was a great test, it was a big test of the engine. Um, you know, leg endurance, shoulder endurance, breathing, heart rate, your ability to kind of move and stay uncomfortable. Um, you know, but the test looked a lot different than this week. This week you've got the bottleneck movement. Everybody is going to get to a part in the workout where it's your bottleneck movement, whether it be your your jumping pull-up, your pull-up, your chest of bar pull-up, or your muscle up. So it's there's two workouts really. There's everything up to that point, and then that movement. And then you find yourself in a in a bit of a fight with this last movement of how soon do I try again? You know, assuming I can make a rep, how soon do I try again? Right? Maybe you're trying to figure out technique on the fly of how to get your first one. There was, oh my goodness, the the amount of firsts in this in this workout this week. It I don't know the total, it's in the dozens, and that doesn't happen. That doesn't happen on a normal day. That happens when people are put in a situation where maybe they don't make it, right? But they've got you know, they're they're doing something they've never done before. So, like the the you have to have belief that you can do it, you know. There might be a little, even a little bit of expectation that you can't do it, but then you get a little closer, you get a little closer, someone sees something, you give some feedback, right? The coaches were super helpful. Um, you know, I can think of a few people that I worked with just within the context of the workout that were able to get their first ones. Um it's a it's a beautiful thing. It really, really is. It's such a moment for that person. And it, you know, maybe, maybe it sounds silly, but it's something that a lot of these people are gonna remember for for the rest of their life. Um, you know, there's there's a few that you know, you'll hit the first rep, and like I know um Haley burst into tears right after hitting her first chest bar pull-up. Like it's meaningful, it's it's emotional, right? Like you're you're that then that's a beautiful thing to because it's not just like oh she's a crier. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's because she got her first pull-up a couple years ago and has been through another pregnancy and just hasn't been able to do them, did all of the pull-ups and got first chestabar. Like it's you you're you're putting yourself on the line, you're putting yourself out there, right? Similar to like, you know, um training, training, training, and going to run a race and like going for it, right? Similar to um, you know, maybe being put into a a situation where you have to perform a music recital, dance recital, something like you know, and where you just nail it. You you you know that you just nail it and you walk off, and there's just this release of of this energy that everything you've been doing is kind of working toward that. So um I love, love, love the open for this reason, you know, and and it's why one of the first things I said about this workout was you've got to like this is the week to put yourself in the position to be there, where maybe you make it and maybe you don't, right? Maybe you get a bunch, maybe, maybe you you fall short where where of where you were hoping to, but it's not the week to just go for uh easy easier standards and see how fast you can go because um you you'll get you'll get a great workout, you might even score some points in in the intramural open. All of that is secondary to like the moment that is created um when you're when you're in that that sort of hot seat and you're challenged with something that you can't do. Um it's I'm still it's uh Saturday morning, I'm still kind of on a high just reading through all of the the notes um about people's experience with it. Um it's pretty special. Um I hope you guys had as much fun with it. Um it's so great to see so many people in on a Friday. I said, I'll say it again if you don't come in on the Friday evening, there's just an energy there that um it's not there. It's you get it three times a year. Um, so even if you're not doing the workout, then you know come in and watch. Like it's it's special. With that, I will see you in the gym.
