Remodeling is never as simple as HGTV makes it seem. One moment, you’re picking out tile; the next, you're wondering how you just blew past your budget (and why your contractor is suddenly talking about permits, change orders, and an "allowance" you never really understood).
In this solo episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on the hidden costs of remodeling—and, more importantly, how the Designing in 5D Process is the antidote to budget nightmares. Spoiler: working off of allowances is a terrible idea! It leads to stress, scope creep, and way-too-expensive surprises. I'll break down why allowances set you up for failure, how to plan for the unexpected, and how a solid design-first approach can actually save you money (and your sanity).
