You're listening to the Alliance Goldigger Podcast. Here we explore the best practices for prosthetic and orthotic candidates, users, referrals, and clinicians. We sprinkle in inspiring patient stories and cultivate a mindset of Easy Plus One. For goal setting and achieving, we're so glad you joined us today. On today's podcast, we will unpack who is Alliance and what is a gold digger. My name is Rachel Oyer and I'm married to Jason Oyer. We will be married for 19 years in July of 2025. About eight years ago, we started Alliance Prosthetics and Orthotics together after a vision to own our own prosthetic and orthotic company. Jason and I believed that patients can achieve personal mobility goals, so we started a program called Goldigger and built a company around that one idea. In 2016, we used all of our life savings to open a small clinic in Brazzleton, Georgia. We didn't know if anyone would come. Around 2017, uh we were running out of money and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to keep our doors open. And so every day Jason would come into a therapy room and he would pray and ask God to provide and that he would bring patients to us. And I was at home with our four young sons at the time, and I would sit in a chair and I would ask the Lord to send people off of the street. And sure enough, we had a prosthetic patient walk in who said, I need a new device. And he came in off the street and just found us. And we knew that we were going to make it. And February of 2017, when our advisory board and us met, we told them that we were gonna have to close our doors. We weren't sure what was gonna happen. And when we started our company, we gave the first check that came in. That February, we turned a profit for a hundred times what that check was. Uh and we believed that while we know we've been entrusted to run Alliance, that it really is God's company. Every patient that comes through our doors, we believe it's a moment of trust that we've been trusted to care for them. Every uh team member that is a part of our team, we know it's a act of trust for their professional development as well as their ability to grow skills and to love their families through working. We are so thankful for these past eight years. One of the best stories I can tell is uh when we opened our Gainesville location. So we actually didn't have a person who could uh work at the Gainesville location other than Jason. And we knew we were supposed to open the second office in 2019, and we did it with just one clinician, Jason, and some team members, and began just seeing patients in two locations to the best of our ability. From that time of 2019 till now, 2024, the Gainesville location is our most successful location with patient care, and we've been able to this year achieve 1,000 goals between Brazzelton and Gainesville. The ability to host a gold digger banquet every single year, honoring the patients who have sacrificed their time and attention to achieve a personal mobility goal after uh walking through a very difficult season of life. We have patients who have children who are forever going to be in braces, or they are short-term needing to achieve a cranial diagonal difference that matches what is uh the standard of care. Or we have patients who have been in terrible accidents and are told that they probably will never walk again. All of those patients get in one room together and we celebrate the year that was and what achievement happened that past year. Referral sources, their loved ones, everyone comes and we all get to celebrate that we are still here. We just believe that every person matters, and therefore having patients come and celebrate with those that they love charges them to go out and do the same wherever they go. One of our best marketing uh techniques is our patients. Patients know that they're cared for and prepared. We prepare for them. So they go out and tell everybody about us. Recently we had a referral call and say, Why does everybody come to you? And I'm able to proudly say it's because we're prepared, because we believe that every person that comes through our doors is an act of trust by the real owner of this company, and we've been entrusted to care for those that need us in this time.
