Episode 3 | Jayleena | Stories from a former dancer turned bartender and investor
For our third episode we interview Jayleena, a bartender and former dancer, and future entrepreneur here in Charlotte, NC.
We talk about how she started going out at an early age at 15, and tells us how being in the limelight lead her to start dancing. She recounts her time and adventures dancing in different cities like Atlanta, Miami, Tampa and Charlotte. She also tells us about some of the wildest nights in Miami and some of the best money she's ever made while dancing. She informs us on how both beef and relationships can forms inside these strip clubs and how competitive and cut throat the environment can be.
She explains how a relationship she formed with someone got her to start bartending and tells us stories about being spoiled as a beautiful young woman. She tells us about her early experiences bartending, through school and working at a local, private event space before working at 4800.
We both reminisce on our experiences working at 4800 and why each of us eventually left. Some highlights are how managers should not take advantage of their employees and staff and some comparison on how much money each of us had made there as male and female bartenders. We remember some of the celebrities that came through 4800, some bad experiences with promoters there, and a crazy story about how a car crashed into the building when it was packed one day.
I share some of my own history about my first promotion company and how that inspired me to DJ, but I also explain how I gave up on it then behind losing money on a fraudulent DJ equipment website.
In closing, she shares with us some of her future plans for investing and entrepreneurship, some funny stories about dancers being sent home for poor hygiene and having and odor, and a pro tip for any make up artists who are looking for work in the clubs.
