Black is Beautiful
Black History Month is celebrated in February because it started as just a week in February starting in 1926. It remains in February as a whole month because it includes and honors Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. So, no Dick Gregory, they didn’t just give black people the shortest month of the year!
