The Arizona-born, LA-based artist has had one of the most fascinating evolutions in modern music: starting out in hip-hop, collaborating with the likes of Travis Scott and Kid Cudi, before pivoting into critically acclaimed indie pop and rock. Now, Kacy is embracing a vivid new chapter, leaning into country-tinged storytelling with her upcoming EP But Anyway, No Worries!, due out August 27. Its lead single, “The Garden,” is a stunning portrait of heartbreak and a powerful introduction to this new era. In today’s episode, we chat with Kacy about what drew her toward this sound, the creative threads that connect her genre-spanning work, and how she stays grounded in her identity as an artist.
