The Spiritual Grind
The Spiritual Grind is a candid, down-to-earth podcast hosted by Dr. Jenni Emery, PhD, RN, CHLC, CH, and Rev. James Emery, MHSB, exploring personal growth, mindset, belief systems, leadership, and real-world transformation.

Their conversations move beyond theory, offering honest insight into how beliefs are formed, how patterns repeat, and how intentional awareness can create lasting change.
Rather than promoting labels, dogma, or shortcuts, The Spiritual Grind focuses on clarity, responsibility, and personal agency—meeting listeners exactly where they are and giving them tools to move forward with confidence, depth, and authenticity.
Each episode blends thoughtful dialogue, real stories, and grounded perspective designed to support growth in both personal and professional life—without hype, pressure, or pretense.

The Spiritual Grind
Finding Gratitude in Life's Everyday Moments
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Appreciation carries a frequency that can transform your entire reality, but many of us get caught in negative thought loops that keep us stuck in patterns of lack and limitation. In this intimate conversation, we explore how shifting your perspective from complaint to gratitude creates profound changes in every area of life.
The secret to escaping financial struggle isn't necessarily making more money—it's changing how you relate to the money you have. We share the startling statistic that 92% of upper-class individuals (making over $220,000 annually) still don't have six months of savings, revealing that prosperity is about mindset, not just income. When you approach your finances from appreciation rather than scarcity, you interrupt the "if you think broke, you'll be broke" cycle.
For those deeply entrenched in negative patterns, we offer practical strategies to begin the shift. Start with appreciating something as simple as your morning coffee, a houseplant, or your ability to walk. These small appreciations build momentum, gradually rewiring your neural pathways and energy frequency. Though it may feel artificial at first, consistent practice leads to genuine transformation.
The appreciation practice extends beyond money into relationships, health, and personal growth. Rather than focusing on what your partner isn't doing, appreciate their presence. Instead of lamenting physical limitations, be grateful for what your body can do. This shift in perspective isn't about toxic positivity—it's about consciously choosing where to direct your energy.
We also announce exciting new offerings, including our Salty Tarot store featuring oracle cards, merchandise, and spiritual tools, plus our upcoming 16-week "Power of Positive Thoughts" workshop in Florida. Use discount code "podcast" for $5 off your first store purchase!
Ready to break free from negative loops and experience the transformative power of appreciation? This episode provides the roadmap to start your journey, one small gratitude at a time.

Welcome to The Spiritual Grind
Speaker 1Good morning everybody. Good morning, Welcome back to the Spiritual Grind video edition. Yeah, we've been doing this for a year and we're just not doing video. That's kind of crazy.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think just one baby step at a time until you get there. Yeah, that's okay of crazy. Yeah, I think just one baby step at a time until you get there.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's okay, though. It's all good we're just starting the attraction and that's good.
Speaker 2Well, I mean, and that's what we teach. Yep Is one foot in front of the other.
Speaker 1Just keep on plugging. And if it's not time, then and you know, we've always said if one person gets something out of this, then it makes us happy right but we want a million people to do it now well, I mean, yeah, it's just a, it's.
Speaker 2It's such a much more pleasant lifestyle.
Speaker 1I would love for more than a million to do it oh yeah, totally no, I mean, don't get me wrong, it was just plugging out there, you know, putting a number out there, tangible.
Speaker 2Well, yeah, because it's not hard to become a million and I tend to be a very literal type person.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean our podcast has been listened to in 54 countries.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1We have hit all of the thresholds that Buzzsprout says we should, Right, and we've had downloads and now we're really starting to get traction because Buzzsprout said they're going to start. You know, they start promoting your podcast after so long.
Speaker 2Right Once you get to certain milestones.
Speaker 1Yeah, right.
Speaker 2They start incorporating more of their program.
Speaker 1Yes, how do you all like the studio? You like the studio. It's a mobile studio. We really like it.
Speaker 2We do. We're having such great fun.
The Topic: Appreciation
Speaker 1We are, it is, but anyway. So the topic for the day. Are you ready for the topic?
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm curious to see if you're going to change it up.
Speaker 1I am changing it up today.
Speaker 2If we're sticking with the previous topic or what we're doing.
Speaker 1Well, you know, I woke up this morning with the thought of and I didn't bring it up at our coffee talk because I wanted to save it for the podcast- Okay. With a very appreciative, appreciative heart.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Of where we are, what we're doing, how we're doing it. You know we're doing what most people won't do because their fear yeah, they have, and I was one of those people for many years. I was fearful of a lot of things when it come to jumping out on a limb, and why I was there, I don't know, because when I was younger man, I didn't wasn't scared of nothing. You know, I was ready just to take on the world.
Speaker 1And then I think over the years we get taught that you know you're supposed to calm down, you're supposed to be this person that conforms to working five days a week, a nine to five job. You're supposed to do this and that you know? You have all these societal top beliefs and I don't care to think that way. I'm very appreciative where we are in life and I think today's podcast is about appreciation, and appreciation for everything and recognizing everything and really appreciate it. Recognize the stuff that you have done and what you will do. You know, because you know our dimensions are already lined up. All we have to do is jump into it.
Speaker 2They are. They're somewhat lined up. There's that free will aspect that lets you go in some different directions. But yeah there's some contractual things.
Speaker 1And don't worry, guys, For all of you out there, we will continue the spiritual sex comment or the podcast. We've had comments on it about how they're intrigued.
Speaker 2Yeah Well you know it's a big question out there and not a lot of people are comfortable conversating about it. It's still a very taboo topic.
Speaker 1It is.
Speaker 2And act. It still is a very taboo topic and act and not easy for people to communicate about honestly.
Speaker 1And you know what I'm appreciative of.
Speaker 2What.
Speaker 1Them, those that have listened to us.
Speaker 2I agree 100%.
Store Announcements and Discounts
Speaker 1I very appreciate that. Very much appreciate it and just for that, by the way, the Salty Tarot store will be open today. It will. I have like 15 minutes left to set up on it and that's it. But for those listeners I created a discount on the store. You can get five dollars off your first 40 purchase.
Speaker 1Just use the checkout discount code podcast oh, yeah, very good and, uh, you, you can go to the store and order their spiritual grind stuff. There is the Merc Center stuff, there is the Salty Tarot stuff. It's all branded products from all of our different aspects of things that we do, and what's really cool is some of the Salty Tarot shirts are pretty cool.
Speaker 2What about the? Did you put the one on for the podcast? Yeah, with the carrot sandwich and stuff.
Speaker 1No, I haven't got there yet. No, I just had to get. I got everything. Now I have everything set up. All I have to do is confirm the tax rates.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And which is already all done. I just have to go back through them one more time and bam, publish that baby.
Speaker 2Right on.
Speaker 1But anyway, remember checkout code when you check out. Use discount code podcast and it's all lowercase and you'll get $5 off your first $40 or $10 off your first $60. Very nice, and so there is podcast and I'm appreciative of that, I'm appreciative of the store, I'm appreciative of all that.
Speaker 2You worked very, very hard on that. I am appreciative that you did the hard grind, because that is not my area of interest or specialty at all.
Speaker 1Definitely a big learning curve, man. Definitely a big learning curve. But you know, the thing is, you jumped out there and tie yourself how to do it. I did, I went through it.
Speaker 2You know, there's embrace the learning curve of it.
Speaker 1I fell into that trap of following some of the commercials on Instagram and Facebook. You know I'll set your store up for $20. And so I'd go through the video and they're like yeah, it's $20 for us to set it up for you. If you like it, you have to pay $2,000 to publish it.
Speaker 2To actually get it to function.
Speaker 1You all bait and switch people.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I thought there was laws against that, but I guess there's not. Online. That's all taken away, but anyway. So I went through. I watched so many videos which the store is kind of a basic store, it's quick and to the point. Which the store is kind of a basic store. It's quick and to the point, and maybe down the road I will change that. I don't know, we'll see, but right now I just want to let people get on there Because the Salty Tarot cards are available on there to order. You'll be able to order the actual Oracle cards.
Speaker 2They're actual Oracle cards. Yeah, they're Oracle, not Tarot. Yeah, they're not Tarot cards. There's a. Yeah, they're not tarot cards.
Speaker 1They're oracle cards. It is a 40 card deck that Jenny herself designed. Yay, it's the first edition.
Speaker 2It was lots of fun and she's already working on the second edition and the tarot deck. Yeah, I am in the process of doing the tarot deck.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Tarot versus oracle, so oracle is a much looser term deck yeah um not so stringently strict you have to write like the cups and the towers right yeah, the tarot cards are more of a structured platform. Yeah, oracle cards are more free and you know you could do three cards or just one, or like there's no rule hard and fast.
Speaker 1Yes, I get it.
Speaker 2With tarot, Traditionally there's like a five and a seven and it like we're traditional.
Speaker 1Like we're traditional.
Speaker 2We do nothing. Basic and more structure, actually how you pull the cards and stuff like that. But it is coming, I'm working on those.
Speaker 1Yep. So they'll be ready to go in the coming weeks and the links will be on there for our books. Yeah, there as well. Yep, um, I have. I have sent the link request in and for approval, and so cause you have to get it approved to be able to link Amazon links into your own store.
Speaker 2I see.
Speaker 1Um, because we we did publish our books through KDP. I have another book that I'm really close to finishing. Jenny finished her second book yesterday.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And then we're also going to have the Granny Grimoires come out.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I'm appreciative of all this. This is all fun to do. This is all. We're just having a blast and I hope you guys will take advantage of it, because the Granny Grimoire book is going to be awesome. It's a it's kind of a daily spell book, I guess, kind of like yeah, you know, I just want to create content and many different modalities.
Speaker 2Yeah, because it honors each individual person's journey you know some resonate with the oracle cards, some resonate with spells and rituals, some resonate with just reading content in a book. So my agenda or intention was to just put the information out there in as many ways as possible, yep, and as many different forms.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And tonalities and personalities as I could.
Speaker 1Because she has a couple of them, personalities. That is Right and just so. You all know she's always cold, so this is not, she's always cold, she's always wrapped up like this I am.
Speaker 2It's a little rainy here today, and that to me chills the weather just a bit, so I've got my little granny lab coat.
Speaker 1It's still 91 degrees outside.
Speaker 2I've got my sweatshirt on.
Oracle Cards and New Products
Speaker 1But anyway, so what I'm really appreciative to it for, I've got my beautiful.
Speaker 2I'm appreciative of this guy. Yeah, your selenite ball, that's selenite, it is good to cleanse and open up channels and it just really feels good.
Speaker 1So the granny grimoires. Let's finish it up real quick. The granny grimoires is a gonna well if we get it worked out and we're working on getting it leather bound.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And it's got like a spell for every occasion and it's also going to have some rituals and some what do you call them sigils in it Sigil energy.
Speaker 2Yep, that's where you take the symbol and either draw it out or just visually carry it with you and it holds a certain kind of energy. And it holds a certain kind of energy, like, if you're going to go into a meeting that you feel like is a little heavy, you can take the confidence sigil, for example, and draw it out and put it in your pocket. Yeah, eventually I'm trying to create some links where you can print it off, if you want.
Speaker 2Okay, some links where you can print it off if you want and I might convert them over into little sigil packs where you can buy them in like little pocket carry cards. Right, and I'll be adding to them. Yes, it also has, like granny talks to nature. Yeah, like granny talks to nature, and so she talks to the flies and the dragonflies and butterflies and the bees that attack me and the bumblebees, and so it has little folklores in it think of it as a witchy poem book.
Speaker 2Yeah kind of it's got herbs in it that are the traditional it has. Think of it as a witchy poem book. Yeah, kind of. Yeah, it's got herbs in it that are the traditional herbs.
Speaker 1Excuse me, ma'am, we're trying to do a podcast on here.
Speaker 2What they are and kind of how to use them. And you know, it's just a compilation of a little bit of everything. A true grimoire is a family heritage that's handed down and that's where granny kind of sticks all of her stuff. You know, like if she uses a certain herb she'll slide it into the book and it may get dried out and be in the book, and then all grannies have some kind of a ritual that they do like my granny used to.
Speaker 1She was a big canner and she had a cellar.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And she would like if you went into the cellar during certain times of the year. She was sticking her foot in your butt Because it was a no-no. It was a no-no, yeah, because she was down there working.
Speaker 2Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1And who knows what all she made, but I just know that who knows what all she made who knows. I know at one time she had a steel down there, but that was many years ago. She was making I could definitely.
Speaker 2Are you talking about your grandma or your great-grandma?
Speaker 1My grandma.
Speaker 2I could definitely feel the vibe of that.
Speaker 1Yeah, that was pretty crazy stuff because she had run her exhaust out the top of the ground, and so she moved it up to the air vent, and so there was no fresh air coming in, because she was blowing her smoke out the top of it.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Anyway.
Speaker 2I appreciate a good ritual as a mode of, you know, detachment, release, energy bringing. And what I mean by ritual is, you know you may take a couple of candles they represent some aspect of it String, et cetera, Herbs, and I know when the kids were growing up I had this whole little very cool wooden cabinet that was hand built. I found it in like a garage sale and that's where I stored different ingredients.
Speaker 1You just recently got rid of that.
Speaker 2I did yeah, and that's where I stored different ingredients and stuff. Yeah, you just recently got rid of that, I did. And Surprisingly, the kids always referred to it as my little.
Speaker 1Witchy cabinet.
Speaker 2My witchy cabinet.
Speaker 1Oh my.
Speaker 2Are you in your witchy cabinet?
Speaker 1doing witchy stuff again, yeah, so yeah, that's kind of how the grimoires came to be but anyway, so that should be coming out pretty soon. Um as soon as we find a leather bound, because a good comparison for that book would be like if anybody ever watched the show charmed, you know they had a spell book up in the attic and it's kind of it's a good comparison to that.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly, Except we don't like to demon work.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, no no, I like that. But the other thing that I'm going to put in the store to show you know, is products that we actually use and I'm going to link them into the store and I'm working on that collection now that we put up, you know, like you have used a product for your skin cancer.
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1And I have you know. If we can, I'm going to try to work that out to where we can load it in, because it works and it's non-invasive, no side effects.
Speaker 2Right, it is all. It's herbal.
Speaker 1It's definitely over-the still comes with pain.
Speaker 2Yeah yeah, no it. You know skin cancer is no joke. Yeah, and it, it, uh, it's. It's painful at times. It's a journey like, I use a supplement that you know product itself I I have used, and am currently still using, on one small little spot left Right, but I vouch for it all day, every day. I had literally no side effects from the product, and that's such a big key for me. My body is already under stress dealing with the thing itself.
Speaker 2The last thing I want to do is put a product in my body or on my body.
Speaker 1That causes more side effects.
Speaker 2That's going to create additional things I have to deal with Correct Called side effects. Yeah, and I definitely lean more towards the herbal side of life.
Speaker 1Oh, and holistic Most definitely. I do most everything side of life anyway, oh, and holistic, most definitely.
Speaker 1I do most everything I never really believed in it much until my teenage years, yeah, and when I started hanging out in the native world and they would flat out teach you you know, go dig this root, go boil it in water, you know, or eat this fruit, and it was. It's crazy because most of the time, from what I understand now don't quote me on this but from what I understand in the medical world, medicines the side effects actually come from the additives and stuff they put in them yeah, that's um for sure yeah you know well, first of all, modern medicine derived from the plants of the earth.
Speaker 1Yeah, totally.
Speaker 2But in wanting to advance or speed up the process of getting from it what you want, sometimes you have to add fillers. You've got to figure out how you're going to get it in the body.
Speaker 1Make it digestible.
Speaker 2Right. So that brings about capsules, and what are the capsules made of?
Speaker 1You know.
Speaker 2A good example that comes to mind is if you have a gluten sensitivity and you're taking a supplement or a modern medicine, medication that is put into a capsule, or coating that uses gluten because it's a binder. It's a very good binder and you don't know that One of your side effects could be inflammation or something, simply because it has just enough of the gluten in it that aggravates your system.
Speaker 1I'm going to challenge the modern medicine world in this podcast to quit producing things and putting them out in the world when they have more side effects than they have benefits.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's a whole other podcast, that's a whole nother podcast, but I'm appreciative, I'm appreciative of them.
The Power of Appreciation
Speaker 1That's the topic of the.
Speaker 2I'm appreciative of what they do. You know what you know they. They do have their positives.
Speaker 1They do there's, there's, time and place for it.
Speaker 2My goal is to marry him. I spent many years in the modern medicine world as an RN.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And they do have their place. Yeah, and I think that it's time for society to start looking at holistic and modern medicine as alliances and meld together.
Speaker 1Well, they really technically have. For years Metaphysicians for a long time have really pushed things and for a very long time.
Speaker 2They're still.
Speaker 1you know, when you're running around in the circle, there still is this segregated energy Does anybody find it weird that metafields are online and they're like supposed to be the number one thing to search what Metafields. Metafields are online and they're like supposed to be the number one thing to search what MetaFields, metafields.
Speaker 1MetaFields. It's like a SEO search for online stuff. Oh, metafields they call them MetaFields because they're kind of like the granddaddy, and then the SEO goes to that, and so it's kind of like a subject, and then the SEO is the topics below it and does anybody find it? You're called a metaphysician, and meta kind of like the first thing, and metaphysicians have kind of pushed the regular physicians for years.
Speaker 2Oh, I've always said that the metaphysicians of the world give the scientists something to explore and research. You know, we're the ones that come up with those woohoo ideas of WTF yeah. Who ideas of WTF, yeah? And because we're comfortable and okay getting that funny look from people when we come up with a concept that is completely off the wall yeah. And then when the scientists of the world get to a place where they've had a minute to let it marinate, then they start thinking hmm, I'm curious about this.
Speaker 1Well, that was really cool.
Speaker 2Let's do some research. So metaphysicians are the ones I think that bring those crazy Twizzler moments to society and give the scientists something to chew on.
Speaker 1Yeah, I agree, I totally agree, and I'm appreciative of the metaphysicians.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Especially my wife yeah.
Speaker 2It's changed my perception.
Speaker 1You know my perception on life, that's for sure. It's changed a lot of things Of course. Being married to a metaphysician, it's changed things.
Speaker 2Appreciation has a very high vibration. It does of position it's? Changed things appreciation has a very high vibration. It does, and the reason it is so very important is the perspective that you come from always has a frequency. Let's break it down for a second and get to the nitty-gritty, and so depending on what frequency you're carrying is going to create the way you see your current reality.
Speaker 1So you can see.
Speaker 2your current reality is oh my God, I'm victim this is happening to me.
Speaker 1Yeah, you focus on the negatives.
Speaker 2I have to do this and this, and how am I going to do this? And if you can just stop for a second and you can twist it around and you can say, yeah, I may have to do all those things, but even like so, I'll dial in.
Speaker 2This is a big one, I can't afford to really do that, and because I have to use my entire paycheck for my bills, so there's not many left over for me to go and have fun. And people will say that how do you afford to go and buy all that scuba equipment?
Speaker 2who said I could afford it well I mean, and that's the thing is, you know we're, we're not multi-millionaires in the real life, we just find the different focal point. Momentary fun and everything so in our life, the conversation goes more like this I am so grateful and appreciative that I have the financial means to pay what we call bills.
Speaker 1The financial means to pay what we call bills.
Speaker 2I'm grateful that I have the money coming in to be able to pay for my lovely fun motor coach and the decorations. I am grateful that an appreciative that I have food in my cupboard and made some really good food last night. Yeah.
Speaker 1That chicken was good.
Speaker 2Yeah, did a chicken for you on the grill and a.
Speaker 1Cheeseburger. Beyond Plant based, plant based Beyond, beyond is my. That's a product that you actually use, and so that's what I'm saying and that's like kind of like, feeding back to the store is being able to feed those products into the store so people understand what we use right and how we live right, yeah, yeah, I I totally agree with you because, um, I think people want to know from other people oh yeah, how was it?
Speaker 2how does it work out? What is it? What does it look like?
Speaker 1I mean, I wouldn't have 600000 people following me on my Google restaurant reviews if people didn't want to know what other people think.
Speaker 2Right, exactly.
Speaker 1For sure.
Speaker 2And we're appreciative of them right Right yeah. So you know, appreciation is very, very important. Um, so you know appreciation is very, very important. Um, and so if you can practice moving your perspective to place appreciation yeah, rather than looking at it as victimhood or lack, right, we will.
Speaker 2It will start to change your reality. It'll start to change your heart rhythm. It will start to change your reality. It'll start to change your heart rhythm on an energetic level. You'll start to feel I want to say heart rhythm what I don't necessarily mean your EKG pattern. What I mean is the way you feel inside of you. Yeah, instead of it feeling like a begrudging chore to go write the checks or pay the bills or however you do them right to pay your bills.
Speaker 2You, with practice, can get to a place where paying your bills is.
Speaker 2You can find gratitude in doing that yeah and so when you do that, the mechanism of the universe is okay. Always, no matter what frequency level you're at on the emotional guidance system, you will always bring more of that frequency in with you. 100%. Start practicing appreciation, which is, you know, it's very, very high up there. It will begin to change and so, instead of drudgingly going and saying, okay, I got to pay this bill, and watching the money dwindle away back down to nothing, Right.
Speaker 2Come into that place where you are actually so appreciative and so grateful that it almost gives you a sense of oh, you know what, I'm going to go pay my bills.
Speaker 1Yeah, this is cool. You know, and that's where you know, one of the books that I actually have started written is called If you Think Broke, you'll Be Broke. One of the books that I actually have started written is called If you Think Broke, you'll Be Broke. Yeah, and the habits that we have is we lose our appreciation for the things that we can and cannot do with our money, and we appreciate it when we can't do things, and this is where people get misguided through society.
Speaker 2They trip up. Yeah, yeah, it's a trip up spot.
Money Mindset and Gratitude
Speaker 1And so when you start thinking, oh my gosh, I got paid today, my money's all gone because I had to pay my bill. Yeah, the very minute, yeah, the minute that energy comes into your reality. You got to grab a hold of it. You do Because your cup will never get bigger until you start thinking bigger, yeah, and you start thinking bigger yeah.
Speaker 1And you start allowing the energy to flow, because you'll never find it. Money is energy and it comes and goes. The more it goes, the more it comes. The more it comes, the more it goes, don't matter. Like I just read something this morning this morning, 92% of people that live in the upper class live in the upper class still don't have six months of savings In the upper class. Think about it, the upper class people. So these are people that are making in excess of $220,000 a year, but they still don't have what's considered the societal top belief of six months and of their, of their bills, in savings yeah, so, and so that can be a trip up it is that it's a trip up.
Speaker 1So I wonder that's where I was going as it is when you get to the point to where you understand that you going through life and you identify your spot in life as I want more money. This is why I want more money. I want to live like that person. I want to live like that person.
Speaker 1I want to live like that person Instead of appreciating you, living like you you get caught up in the mix, and so it doesn't matter if you live paycheck to paycheck when you're broke, because if you don't change you when you're rich, you're going to live paycheck to paycheck when you're broke, because if you don't change you when you're rich, you're going to live paycheck to paycheck. That's right and when you and being appreciative in that spot where you are, will change life. Yeah, it changes everything.
Speaker 2Not only in the money relationship, but in your human relationships. Oh yeah, in your own body relationship um appreciating these guns, these guns appreciation can go in in all sections of the life pie yeah and it it is necessary it is, it's a necessary and it's such a good. If you want change, yes if you really want true change.
Speaker 1Appreciation is is a very, very big key to unlocking, because I guarantee you, every one of you if you stop and think back through when you were happiest in your life, and is when you weren't thinking about bills, you were going out and just living life. Yeah, you were just living. And because worry is a bad emotion, appreciation and positivity is good emotions. They're not good or bad, but it creates positive energy.
Speaker 2Right, I mean it does.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But I don't want to get into that place of. Oh my God, I have this worry and so now I'm a bad person.
Speaker 1No, no, no, no. I don't want to drag people into that. No, it's just habits, weird place, patterns, beliefs.
Speaker 2Of labeling things good or bad. Right, it's a good place of labeling things good or bad, right, why not?
Speaker 1It is just. Aren't you the salty tarot?
Speaker 2I am on some days, but today I am a wise teacher and guide.
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2And I don't want people to punish themselves.
Speaker 1There's enough of that going on.
Speaker 2I agree. You know, this is all a self-paced learning program.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2And if you are in the place of worry, I want to gently teach you some practices on how you can be aware that you're doing it and change your habit. To create a different habit and appreciation is one of those ways, and at first it's going to feel like shit.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2At first it's going to feel like a big fat lie when you say, oh, I am so grateful that I can pay my effing bills. I am so glad I got a $300 bill this week and you're going to be sitting there making out your bills and watching the money disappear and at first, because you're in the habit of finding the negative concepts in life, your monkey mind or your inner dialogue is going to be like girl, don't even kid yourself, this feels like shit.
Speaker 1You know, in its mindset, and that's okay. Here's like shit, you know, and it's mindset, and that's okay. Here's proof of mindset. Here's proof of that mindset right there. And I brought up the electric bill. Oh my gosh, I got a $300 electric bill this month. Well, we have a gentleman that used to work for us. He's from Russia or Macedonia, yeah, and I was in a conversation with him, another person one morning and she said man, our electric bill is crazy this month and it was. He's like it's 400 something dollars and she's like did something go on? It's like the energy. She's asking all these questions and we're just all sitting there, you know, talking. And he looked up off his thing and he said I didn't have electric in Macedonia until I was 35.
Speaker 2Because he couldn't afford it.
Speaker 1They didn't even have it in his village.
Speaker 2It wasn't available at all, it wasn't available until he was in his 30s. Wow.
Speaker 1And he said so. You know, for me, paying for an electric bill doesn't bother me. You know pretty much.
Speaker 2Right, because he's in a state of appreciation of just having it. And that's where we get able to access it where it wasn't even an option.
Speaker 1Yeah, like he said, americans have it so easy. You know, he said that because we get so used to expecting to have these things that when we pay for it, but yet we want it we forget to be appreciative that we have it.
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1So if you don't want to pay for it, then don't get it.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1But be appreciative when you can pay for it.
Speaker 2Well, yeah, and I mean you know that's a very key he even talked about water.
Speaker 1He had to go out and get buckets of water because they had a big well. There was four houses. Every house, every four houses, had their own well. And they would go out and crank up their water.
Speaker 1What it brings up is that you complain about the the electric bill, but it still is a choice yeah, you can live without that your interest rate on your credit card is high, but you're the one that signed up for the credit card there are people out there that live without electricity and without water and so it still is a choice like that guy and we. What was the name of that book? It's Amazing what you Can Do when you Don't Know that you Can't or something.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1We met him at that lecture that time and he was talking about how he went to South Africa Right and how he was totally amazed that not only did people not have electric, they didn't have vehicles and they didn't have running water.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And anyway to make a long story short, but they still thrived.
Speaker 2But they still thrived, yeah.
Speaker 1Millions of people, millions of people.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1But it was a pretty interesting conversation that he told us that when he came back, how much differently he looked at life. When you're over there and you can't find a coke or a pepsi because they don't sell them, right? You can't get candy bar. Yeah, if you want to, if you want a snack, you go out and you find your sugar cane that happened to us a little bit on the cruise yeah, I did, I know right we like we're pepsi people didn't have no pe, no Pepsi, on my cruise.
Speaker 2And they didn't.
Speaker 1Offer Pepsi.
Speaker 2Was it Pepsi?
Speaker 1Yeah, they didn't have Pepsi, there was only Coke products.
Speaker 2You had to drink Coke, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, and so I didn't drink Coke, I drank root beer or Dr Pepper.
Speaker 2Yeah, On occasion we would drink the Coke products Like I'd get Sprite and you would get Coke.
Speaker 1But when we got home it was like oh my God, this Pepsi tastes so good, and they didn't have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on that ship.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Who doesn't have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the?
Speaker 2comforts of home.
Speaker 1I know right, Because I have to have my peanut butter at night.
Speaker 2How are you ever going to go to other places?
Speaker 1I'll take some with me. What do you mean, miss? I sent two cases of water to Maui before I went there.
Speaker 2Hey, I'm just preparing so that I don't have to be in that boat. You could have shipped some Pepsi over to the ship.
Speaker 1I didn't know. They didn't have it. I assumed they would.
Speaker 2Do your research.
Speaker 1I had never been on a cruise before, remember, do I didn't?
Speaker 2know they didn't have it, I assumed they would Do your research.
Speaker 1I had never been on a cruise before. Remember, do your research. But anyway, so, being appreciative, I mean, I was appreciative that we were on a cruise because that was my first one.
Speaker 2Yeah, you know. It's easy, though, to sit here and say, oh, you know what. The key to all this magical woohoo is just bringing in appreciation. But you know, when you're in the deep throes of shadow work and really have a perspective that your life is, shit yeah. You want to tell those people to F off?
Speaker 1And it's so easy to focus on the other negatives it is when you're in that habit.
Speaker 2It really is, and so, with this one, you may very well be in a place where you've got to take t90 tiny little steps right, and what I'm telling you is is that we've all been there yeah and it is possible to train yourself to have a different thought process, a different pattern of habit. Yeah, and even if you can only do one tiny step at a time, it does, it does it does help count and be appreciative for the time.
Taking Small Steps Toward Appreciation
Speaker 2It does add up and it will eventually, with consistency, it will begin to change your uh awareness and your perspective, because what happens with your system is, if you're in a habit of noticing the lack component, that's your norm, and so you consciously have to start making a decision that you want your norm to be different. Yeah, Agreed. And so when you find yourself feeling that kind of crummy way and if you're living it actively right now, you know what I'm talking about that really just heavy pessimistic shit lick on the world around.
Speaker 2You agreed, yeah, if you will do the tiny, microscopic steps of, even if it feels like a lie, even if your monkey mind says you know what, oh crazy b.
Speaker 1why are you doing this, crazy B?
Speaker 2It's not working. Try to ignore that and still make yourself work through it.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Find something every day that you can appreciate, even if it's tiny, yep, tiniest little thing, because it's a loop.
Speaker 1It's a. It's a loop. When you start focusing on the negatives, the next thing you know that's all you're focusing on.
Speaker 1And it can sneak up on you. Because you know I got caught in that trauma loop, doing that trauma crap, where I would focus on the bad things that traumatically have happened in my life and kept reliving it and telling people the stories and going through that loop and I was like, until you said something like how long are you going to keep living in that loop? I'm like son of a bitch. She's right again. Dope, dope, can you get that knife out of my back? Where's your button? But the whole shebang behind it is. We get caught in that loop and that's what I wanted to bring to everybody's attention today in the podcast is, even if you have to struggle or fight a little bit, stop and find something to be appreciative for.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1You know like, there's this relationship couple that I worked with one time and she was complaining all the time that he was on his phone.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1He's on his phone all the time. I get no attention. I get no attention. Yeah, okay, so let's stop and look at you.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Because, for one thing, he's sitting in the couch with you, he's sitting in the living room with you.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Are you appreciative that he is sitting there with you? Yeah, because it is a choice for him to sit there with you.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And so if you're so worried that he's on the phone with some other girl, you should stop and say or work, or whatever. You should stop and say he's made a choice to come sit with me, right, and you should be appreciative. And what are you doing to show him that you're appreciative, that he's made that choice? Because it's a choice, yeah, and so find the appreciation. You can find the appreciation if you just think about things differently. Yeah, look at it in a different way.
Speaker 2That's what I said Appreciation across the board works in every relationship in the life pie.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2It really does. And so find some section of that life pie that you can remind yourself of. You know what, golly, I am really really glad, or appreciative, or whatever word you'd like to use to bring in and recognize the frequency of that vibration that I have this or that or this or that. It may not be right now your budget or your money, so stay away from that section of the life pie.
Speaker 2It may be that you bought a new house plant and you love it to death and it looks amazing and you've been wanting it for a long time, and that may be the only thing that you can find to appreciate right this minute is the fact that you get this tiny little succulent that costs $1.50, and it sits on your sweet little desk and you just look at it and that, for right now, may be the only appreciation that you can wonder in. But that frequency, finding that frequency by revisiting that little succulent, by revisiting that little succulent, is you training yourself to find the frequency of appreciation so that you can bring more of that energy into your life and into the other sections of the life.
Speaker 1Pie, that's how it works, and you're rewiring not only your frequency on an energy level but you begin to rewire the neural pathways in the brain so that for you for for those of you that don't have video and you're just listening I'm hand speaking right now and I whacked the microphone but and so and here's an easy place to start If you're having a hard time figuring out, like you just said, it's little baby steps, even if it's just the fact is, you know what? Thank you, I can walk today. Thank you, I can blink my eyes today, some people are not even there.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean just whatever that is, because, like, don't take for granted, like I had, we had former customers of ours. She was telling me one day her and her husband had been together for almost 45 years and about 20 years ago he had a massive stroke and he is now wheelchair bound and he's you know, his attitude changes, everything is different. And she actually said to me one day she's like I'm appreciative that he's here, yeah, but I am regretful that I didn't appreciate when he was the way he was before.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I took it for granted and because you know, life changes and life can change, and so be appreciative of today, be appreciative of who you are.
Speaker 2Some people are not there.
Speaker 2Yeah, just whatever little bitty thing you find there's some days where all I can do is really zero in on the robust flavor of my coffee that morning and really be appreciative of how good it is, hitting the spot this morning, and some days that's where literally I have to start. Yep, some days that's where literally I have to start If I have woken up with a wonky energy or been doing some deep belief work or shadow work that's, you know, kind of got me brought down just a little bit the morning when I get up, yeah, bringing myself to the, to the now and to the awareness of actually honing in on what the coffee tastes like and giving recognition to the fact that, wow, you know what this coffee tastes really good today and I am really appreciative of that right this minute thank you, hubby, for making it and that may be all you can do for that day.
Speaker 1Yeah, agreed, and so start there. Yeah, start, just whatever it takes, just find something.
Speaker 2Yeah, until you can make bigger steps and bigger steps, and bigger steps.
Speaker 1Well, that was a quick. That was quick. They went by, didn't it? It's crazy when you start appreciating things. I'm fat, the time flew by already. That is insane.
Speaker 2Yeah, it does, it speeds by.
Workshop and Service Announcements
Speaker 1But anyway. So don't forget, the store will be open. Thesaltytarotmyshopifycom. I'm going to put a link on our website so you can click on it and you'll be able to pull up all of the products online.

And everything you all buy on there does support the show. That could be a great little start in it, and everything that y'all buy on there does support the show. You know that's really. It supports the us continuing to spread the word for education, metaphysical education and spiritual life coaching throughout through the web, and and we hope that you'll join us in that journey.
