Hey guys. Welcome to Gabbing and Grape View, the podcast for appreciating the good and lighting up your day. We're your hosts. I'm Susie. And I'm Claire. And we have a passion for heartwarming stories. Well, Claire, today we're gonna chat about a bunch of things. Yeah. How are you doing? What's going on? I, in grape view. I am doing good. It's really beautiful here in great view. We love spring. Don't we love spring? Yes. It's so good. Yes. Spring has come to a close now. Yes. It's the first day of summer. Yes. Oh, gotta love that. Oh yeah. Little bit of rain warm. Two days of rain. Oh, I love it. I want the rain. We need it. We do need it. Things are looking gray. Forest fires. So, how am I? Well, I'm doing okay. I fell last week. What? Yeah, I fell down doing the laundry over at the Hideaway. Oh no. Not claiming any. Insurance claims here for the business, though. I was going down the stairs in the garage. There's three steps. There's a railing on both sides, but I was carrying the wet laundry in my arms, so I wasn't grabbed onto any railings. Oh, oh. And I wasn't really aware of where I was in space because I had this big giant. Load of wet laundry in front of you. You can't see. I couldn't see. I couldn't see depth perception too. Yeah. And so, and I had like this to-do list in my brain and like, check this off. Move on to the next. Yeah. And so I was thinking about the next like three or four things that I had to get done while I was doing something and not totally paying attention. Yep. And I missed the last step and down she went down, boom. Luckily. The wet laundry broke my fall a little bit. Oh. Kind of protected me. But I twisted my ankle a little bit and really hurt my foot. Sprained a bone in the, or like the ligaments around my pinky toe. Did it turn purple Bone bruise. I used Arnica right away. Do you know about Arnica? No. Arnica is this great. I think it's an herb. And you can take it orally or you can use it as a topical. And I have this spray and it has Arnica and CBD, and it's kind of like a cooling spray. Oh. And it helps with bruises, it helps with muscle healing and bruising. So it makes your bruise like not really come, like it gets green right away and like it moves on. Oh, okay. So I use that right away. And'cause I knew it was gonna be a big bruise and I had a big bruise on my hip that I used it on too. When I would remember. Foot was easier'cause I could look at it and be like, oh, foot hip here in your pants. So I fell down and I woke up the next morning and I told David, I think we should go to urgent care and just get it x-rayed to just make sure. Because I needed to be able to use it and walk around, and if it was broken, I probably shouldn't have been doing that. And I just needed to know. Yep. I never had any sharp pain or anything like that, so there was no snapping feeling. If it was broken, it was gonna be like a little fracture or something. So we went, Belfair Urgent Care, I think it's San, it's the Franciscan. Yep. Oh, loved it. Good. They're great there. Doctor was great. Staff was great. The x-ray tech loved her. Were there people waiting? We got there right when it opened. Perfect. And so, no. I think there was one other person that was leaving when we got there and then, like a mom came in with a kid behind us. There was a couple people waiting when we left, but not super busy. It was a Friday morning and yeah, they gave me a little post-op shoe to wear for a couple days, which totally aggravated my Oh, plantar fasciitis, that's what it is. No. Or I think it's a, I think I actually have Morton's neuroma, but I haven't been diagnosed, so who knows. But I got foot issues in that foot already. And know what's really crazy is the week before I had an energy healing with my shamanic healer that is in Pennsylvania, and I'm over here in Washington. So we connect on Zoom twice a month. It's amazing for anybody that's in therapy and it's just not working for you. I highly, highly, highly recommend Shamonic healing'cause it's faster than therapy and it works like on a subconscious, unconscious level. Does she hypnotize you? No, we, but we do like deep meditation. And it's, we talk about things in a, in a therapeutic kind of way. Wow. She's super safe space for me. Her name is Nas and I love her. And if anybody's interested, just shoot us an email and I'll connect you. But I could feel when I had been in acupuncture that my energy was kind of stuck in my left leg, and I talked about that with her. Three days before I fell, two days before I fell, I think. Oh. And I told her, I said, the energy in my foot feels stuck. And so we tried to move that energy and wouldn't, you know, it was the same but. That I like hurt, and now all of my energy, like all of the blood in my body, like immediately went to my foot. It felt so tight and like, so swollen, like all like in instantly that I was just like, wow, that's a mind trip. Because we were trying to get the energy to flow and like my body was like, Nope, we're concentrating energy here and this is where it has to go. So, and let's, let's move this up real quick. Yeah. And it's now, it's a priority in my life. I have to take care of my foot. I have to put special ointment on my foot. I have to have the chiropractor do work on my foot. I have special exercises for it. It's like all this concentrated care and love going to that. Place that was affected by that energy. Yeah. Being moved. Wow. Or maybe it didn't get moved or whatever, but it was kind of crazy. So, and then I got to go to Pilates and Kelly, Kelly, I love you. Thank you so much for helping to heal my entire body after that fall, because I don't know if the, I've mentioned this to the listener before, but I have fibromyalgia and so like a fall is really not good. Because it activates your nervous system and you start to get really sore everywhere. Oh. And all the other things kind of get kicked up a notch because of that. So I really appreciate you, Kelly. Thank you so much. I love you. And then I went to Watson's. Also, I keep hearing about Watson's. Oh, Watson's is great. It's in Puyallup. What is it? It's a greenhouse nursery. And you can get like any plant really that you want. Basically they have it there. Do they have a, a deer repellent section or the kind of deer don't like? I think anything that, like the grasses that we have, deer don't like those because they're sharp on the edges. But I feel like that spray, you gotta use the spray, the deer spray. You know what I've been using. You've been using pinwheels? They've been working amazing. Oh, that's so good. Yeah. Well, we bought a couple little doodads but no pinwheels.'cause they were kind of pricey. I was like, if I'm gonna get a pinwheel, I just need to get the dollar store version of it. I just got'em at Amazon. Yeah. Yeah, you, same thing. Whatever you decide. Cool. I'm trying not to shop on Amazon, although I did just place a large order because I had been saving up all the things that I, all the things that I only get from Amazon, like my loofahs and earplugs and all the stuff. For the Hideaway. Yeah. Like that kind of thing that I use. So, but yeah, dollar Store. I'm hoping they have, maybe have some, maybe they'll have some like USA ones or something because it's almost 4th of July, so Cool. But how are you Suzy? What's been going on with you? Doing great. Very good. But it's been a busy week. I've been making ice cream. Ooh. And using an old ice cream maker that I had. Classic. What brand? Cuisinart Oyster. Oyster. Oh yeah. Great. Is it oyster? Mm-hmm. Okay. I think I don't say that would be my, something you knew that you learned. I know I have that. It's pronounced, so did that old school electric? Mm-hmm. Where you put ice in. It was awesome. But then. My daughter-in-law cl my daughter-in-law, Kaylyn, they and Kevin don't, didn't have one. And I thought, oh, they need one. I'll give them mine and I'll buy a new one. There you go. So gave them the old one. And then the new one I got is a Cuisinart. Okay. And they don't use ice. They're buckets. Oh yeah. With the, this gel that you freeze, you put it and it's the, is it the Costco one? Did you get it at Costco? No, I got it. This is. One of the learnings I was going to talk about, it's a Cuisinart, it was$50. I knew what I wanted, but you could go to different sites. It's the same thing. It was$90 at Macy's and it was on sale for$50 at Walmart. So I did, they didn't have it at the Shelton, Walmart, so I just ordered it online. Okay. And it came and, yeah. Exact same product. Exact, so anyway, you the chocolate ice cream with the Reese's Pieces mini cup thing. Ooh, it, it, it's just wrong. It's so good. It's just wrong. So good. But it's something I've wanted to Perfect. So Yeah. Yep. We'll do that. And that's so yummy. Yeah. Ooh. And the kids, can you make sorbet in there too? Yep. And frozen yogurt, which is probably not, I love it. I have frozen yogurt. Do I need one of these? You can't buy frozen yogurt in Washington in the grocery store. No. I keep hearing, what the hell, I don't know they have what? I don't understand what is going on. Tillamook. Tillamook, I'm talking to you. I don't Everyone get out your pens. Stop your cars if you're driving. Start your letter to Tillamook. Say, dear Tillamook, I want frozen yogurt. I demand it. Start producing it. I will buy it. I think Trader Joe's might have some frozen yogurt bars. Oh yeah. You can buy the bars, but I don't want the bar. I wanna get more ice cream. Or I'll get frozen yogurt than the bar. I will come up with something. Oh yeah. I'm gonna have to get my own. If you can make frozen yogurt. Oh, you can. Yes. It's, where would I put it? That's my biggest question. Oh, you've got so much. I have zero room. Have you seen my house? Yes. Fred. Love him. Great house builder storage designer. Eh? No. Gonna give him a low grade on that one. He doesn't? No, he's not even with our house, because he puts all his stuff in his garage. Right? Garage. It's a huge shop. Yeah. It can fit like two buses. It's raining. Oh, we needed it so bad. So that's the noise you'll be hearing. The little raindrops. Yeah. I don't think they'll be able to hear it'cause we've got pretty good microphones. But I'm curious to see if any water comes through that little vent I have on the top that's open. If it hasn't yet, it probably won't. Oh, so ice cream, super yummy. What else did you, well, I went to the new Mission Impossible. Oh. Did you get Popcorn Final Reckoning? No, but I, diet Coke. No nachos. Nothing. Nothing? No, I didn't, no thin mi or what are they called? No. Junior mints. Yeah. I just don't, I wasn't, you don't do it. Do you pregame get a cocktail before? No. Nothing. No. I just wasn't, growing up, we didn't have money like that, so I'm not used to going to. The movie theater and eating. Ah, if we did, I would make popcorn it at home and I would bring, pop myself and pack it in the bag. Is it hailing now? No, it's just rain. Okay. So that that wa, I recommend everybody see that movie on the edge of my seat every time. Was it as long of a chase scene as the first movie? Yes. Yes. Oh, it was two, the whole movie. Two hours, 40 minutes. Oh, it was good. Yeah. But like a three hour chase scene. No, not, but you were on the edge of your seat. I bet. And sometimes I was telling myself, do you like that feeling? Yes you do. Yeah, it was good. You welcome it. You're like, I want a thrill. It just means I have to see it more than once because I miss things uhhuh. I have to. And then the second time I see it, oh, I didn't see that the first time, then the third time. Yeah. I love it. Yes, we want, we watched the first one. We waited till we could get it at home. We're not big movie goers.'cause I do like to eat during the movie and I like to be able to pause it, get up, use the bathroom. You know? Yeah. All that sort of stuff. I like a movie theater. This was imax I, and also, I'm not a huge IMAX person. Oh, it was so good. And I've done the one where like bullet train with Brad Pitt, where it was not 360, did 60 go my mom. Oh, nice. How about this one by myself? Just by yourself? Yeah. I took CC to grooming, did the Gig Harbor imax. It was good. Nice. Yeah. And then amazing. I did see the CNN Goodnight. Good. Yes. How was that? It was great. Great. Perfect. For our times. Just shows you one. It just takes one person to speak up and say no, and then others will follow and be brave as well. So it was good. Good. Mm-hmm. I love that. Yes. We haven't been watching much tv. I've been planning a, I think I might have mentioned this. You did last. You did. But I've been planning a car baby shower for my friends who just got a Porsche and it's been a lot of fun. We are gonna have a. Race track charcuterie. Oh wow. Who's doing it? I'm putting it together. I think I'm gonna go get a what are the little cars called? Matchbox? No, this the speedy ones, the racing ones. I nascar. Oh. Come on, Claire. David told me it takes me a really long time to think they're not Matchbox. I don't know anything but Matchbox. Well, I think that may be the style of the car, but it has a like a brand name. Hot Wheels. Hot Wheels. There we go. Okay. Hot Wheels, Uhhuh. I buy a Hot Wheels and then on her island in her kitchen, we're gonna put the Hot Wheels set up and then build the charcuterie board around it. Oh, fun. And I'm just gonna buy like any snack that I think is fun and we're just gonna. Do it good. So there might be like sweet snacks, salty snacks, but it's just gonna be like a. Grazing situation. Good. And then a pasta wheel. A pasta salad. Oh yeah. I love those. Those for wheels. Mm-hmm. Couple special things coming too, but super fun to plan a baby shower for a car. You gotta have a soundtrack. Yes. I'm not in charge of the music. I'm only in charge of the snacks. You can do like studio soundtrack from the movie. That's what the. That's kind of the plan. Oh, that's great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So lots of fun stuff going on there. It's gonna be July 5th, the day after 4th of July, so that weekend. And I can't wait. I think maybe everybody's gonna wear red'cause the Porsche is red. Oh my. At least I am gonna wear red and I think a couple other people are so. It's gonna be super fun. How about you? You're prepping, are planning for 4th of July. Whatcha guys doing? Yeah. Prepping 4th of July heading to Long Beach. Nice. Yeah, so Kevin and Kaylin are in Long Beach, and that'll be his, we like rituals and traditions, and so he claimed 4th of July. Okay. Yeah. So a long time ago or just this year? This year when he moved here. Okay. So 4th of July is Kevin's, and he's a couple blocks from the ocean. Wonderful. So they have a huge fireworks display, but we've got our. Food that we traditionally have. 4th of July, I do the peach raspberry cobbler. Ooh. And then we're, we have, we do razor clamming. So we'll have clam chowder, yum. And all the goodies that go with that. And then they're doing a shrimp boil. Ooh. And that I know it's food surrounded by food and steak. And we'll do ice cream with the peach, raspberry slap. It's just pie on a. Yeah. Yum. Oh yeah. That we've had it for years. That's be great. Are you gonna use your old ice cream maker or bring a new one? Yes, probably. Ooh, maybe you'll bring mine. And we'll make two kinds. Oh, we haven't talked about it. Because they just ideas, they just flow. I, and then last night when they ti me, they made ice cream and it was fruity Pebbles. It was the whole Fruity Pebbles ice cream. So you made a chocolate Reese's Peanut butter cup and they made Fruity Pebbles? Yes. Now, did they put Fruity Pebbles in it? Yes. Or did you just taste like Fruity Pebbles in it? Okay. They loved it. Okay. It's dangerous because you're, it's on your mind. Hmm. I'm kind of hungry. I'll just have a tiny little bowl of the homemade ice cream. Yeah. It's like it catches up cake that's on the counter. The water. Yes. And you just keep slicing it. You just keep slicing it. Yes. You know what I'm talking about. I do. Yes. The people they know. Yeah, you've done it too. Don't, don't shame yourself. Yes, it's fine. We all do it. So we'll, that'll be it. And then we'll probably watch some bass. Oh no, it's the the break. Baseball breaks. Baseball break. Yeah. So what? Yeah, we'll do, we'll put on a movie. We hang out and it's fun. It'll be nice though. And you've got two babies, you're not gonna put a movie on. Yeah, well sometimes like Christmas time is die hard. How long will you be at Kevin's? Well, arriving the fourth. Leaving the fifth in the evening. Oh, just one night then. Yeah. You're not gonna watch a movie? Oh, I don't know if you do. You can tell me I told you so later, but Okay. I doubt it. And then we got back from camping too. Yeah. We went to Whiskey Creek. Ooh, whiskey Creek. Where's that? It's way out west past Port Angeles. Okay. Not too far in a little town called Joyce, but it's along the Strai of Wanda Fuca. Okay. And they have with this Whiskey Creek. Beach RV resort. They've got cabins. Oh, nice. So it's kind of like an Airbnb feel. Okay. Self check in the, the whole the same thing. Yeah. But they happen to have tent sites, which are amazing, and they have RV sites, which are not organized. Oh, the RV site's not good. No, but the camping and the, the cabins, the cabins and the tent look amazing. But you're right. Was. What was unorganized about the rv? Well, you'd really have to think is it a backend or a per a pole view? Pull through. So, oh. And there aren't that many, maybe 10. And it's kind of, was it pull? Yes. Okay. With mostly RV people? Yes. But the cab, nah, I would say half and half cabin people were coming and going. Okay. But in the state of Washington, to have a cabin right on the beach is amazing. Oh yeah. It it, you can't, the ocean is like a quarter of a mile because there's beach and dunes. So do you, do you know that I don't like sand and I'm not a huge fan of beaches? No. Did you know that? No. No. Hmm. Well now you do. Okay. I do like a pool and a mar a pool. I like a lake. I'm a big lake girl. Okay. I don't mind a little lake sand'cause it's a little bit more like stones, you know? Yes. I'm not a huge fan of sand getting everywhere. Oh. I like, we lived in Venice Beach many years ago. David and I, it was our first apartment together and we lived like, I don't know, a block and a half from the sand. And it was just all over, everything. Everywhere you looked, there was sand in my microwave. How did sand get in my microwave? Susie? Probably hands, I dunno, hair as you flung it sideways, who knows? But like I, I just didn't really love it and I didn't really love the. Jarring ness of the ocean. I like to listen to it. I like to look at it. That's fine. But like going in, not so much, which is why I like the oceans here in Washington is because they're not really for going in.'cause it's so cold. Yes. But yeah, that sounds delightful. Delightful for those who, but these beaches are that experience, these beaches are rocky. They're rocky beaches. So it's, the state of Washington is different. Yes. Then Oregon and the further south you go. Yeah. So we're Rocky and this is a strai of Wanda Fuca, that inside passage. Mm-hmm. Puget Sound. So these cabins are right there. Right on the water. Yeah. Beautiful. Like so 30 feet from the water? Yes. Wow. That's close. So anybody wants that experience. Great. And they have solo wood stoves, outdoor. Oh, cute. On the deck. Yes. Is this a, this is a private campground. Yes. Nice. Yeah, so that was fun. Very nice. That was tons of fun. It sounds like it. Yeah. And it was nice weather for you. Yes, it was great weather. But you're on the, I mean, it's cold. You've got the wind coming up. Yeah. And you've got eagles. Were beautiful. Aw. And, and people were nice. And we did have fun, but it was cold. With that wind, and then it was in marine traffic, so you could see cruise boats going up and back and forth. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, and cargo ships, and we have our binoculars. Fred does really good ones. So that was fun. That's nice. Yeah. It felt good to get out. Do you. Keep busy or do you relax when you're camping? I relax. I feel like I'm on vacation. Do you read a book? Fred gets up and gets you a drink or we Yes. He's cooking. Yes. You're chilling? Yes. Okay. We do all that like vacation? Yeah. Nice. Like get away. But this time, because he grew up in Joyce, we visited his old. Places. Oh, nice. Yeah. Frenzy grew up with a local grocery store that has aisles and aisles of candy still. Oh, wow. Yes. And just way the heck deep in the woods. Like, Ooh. There's one place where people never went. You just. Drove past it because you just don't go there. It has its own compound. Yes. Okay. But it was fun. Felt good to get out. Nice. And his brother Bill and his wife Stacy came and that was fun. That's fun. Were they, they were at the campground with you? Yes. In their own rv? Yep. A trailer. They bought a new trailer and it was fun. It felt good to get out and they brought their bikes and. Yeah, great. We're planning the next one. Not sure where it is, but you have a trailer, you gotta use it. You can't let it sit. Yeah. Speaking of trailers, this Airstream that we've been in little country living story here for the people I know. So I like to snack a lot. It's like how I get energy throughout the day. I am not a big giant meal eater'cause my body doesn't like to digest. Lots of too much information, whatever. So I snack a lot. So in my Airstream, here is my office, and it's where we do the podcast. And so I'll snack while I'm working and I keep snacks in here. And I have them like nicely tucked away in a cabinet. So it's not a mess. They're in a container, they're sealed, da da, da, da. Wouldn't you know a sneaky little mouse? Found my snacks? Just one. I think it's just one. So this mouse came in and he ate through my smoothie pouches that I have. Oh, they're like shelf stable smoothie pouches. Yeah. They're just like those little kid apple, mm-hmm. Sauce things that they have. They're in the box. They're all sealed up. Oh, no, no. He chewed through. The pouch and went right in lots of fiber, lots of good healthy stuff in there for anybody, and then pooped all over. And then he peed and pooped all over in the cabinet. So I found this and I cleaned everything out, and I sprayed it all down and he comes back and so then I take everything out. I spray it all down. Oh no. And he came back again. No. So twice. So he's fool me months. Yeah, he's, well, three times now. So I had a first time I call the pest control people. We make an appointment. They're coming out. So after the third time, the pest guy was here and he put those little sticky pad things. Yes. Yeah. Oh, so we got the mouse. Just one. Just one. I have another sticky pad in there and it hasn't. Wow. Showing up any mouse, but yeah, little country living for you. Well, you go getting into your camper. Yeah. And eating your smoothies. I had a raccoon. Speaking of country living, we need to do this every, make it a segment. Country living. Yeah, country living segment. There's, there's a raccoon. Just, I, I'm like, Fred. Fred. Look at that raccoon. It wasn't afraid of me. No, it was not. It was looking up like, Hey, what? You get close. Was it Oh, oh. From here to the trees outside. So like 10 feet 12, 20, 20 feet. Yep. But it usually a raccoon won't come out in the daylight that you can see it. Yeah, and if it does, it'll just zip. This one was waiting for food. He's looking at me like, what you got? Oh yeah. And I, I told Fred and he said, yeah, someone's probably feeding it. It's used. Oh, I know who it is. Oh, well that's, it's not that person who shall not be named. Okay. That's not good. Some of my listeners know who it is too. Oh. Yeah. Oh my God. Well, it's more of the fact that it's old, moldy, gross, not good for anybody food, and she. Just tosses it in her yard.'cause Daisy would come over having eaten something and gotten sick. Oh no. Well, no. They were looking for, she. Just, but then they get aggressive, like, oh yeah, I could see it was se having second thoughts. Hmm. Maybe I'll approach her. Maybe she's got some french toast or something. I don't know. Old bag of, oh my moldy bread maybe. Oh, for pe. Anyway, that was, but those RAC raccoons do come out in the daytime because I saw them playing in our pond last week. Oh yes. Two weeks ago maybe. And they were fogging. Yes, they were looking for frogs to eat, and it was pretty cute. There was two of'em. One was a little smaller than the other, so I didn't know if it was like a male female situation or if it was like a mom offspring situation. But yeah, the raccoons, they're crazy. The sheep. Our neighbors with the sheep. She definitely does not feed them and is not into it either. And, but she was telling me this is a cool story that that baby deer that we saw, yes, it was born right in her yard. She saw it. Being born. Really. And that's the third one. That generations of deer come to that spot in her yard to have their babies. They feel safe. How beautiful is that? Yeah. Oh, I loved it. That's country living. That's country living. She also said that we could come over anytime and hold the baby lamb. So let me know when you wanna go. Okay. Alright. Thoughts fun to me. I'll do that. I've been so, I taught first grade. I've done so many pet You've done, you've done. I've done that. Well. If you wanna go. Okay. Yes. Yeah. So tell me, you mentioned that you, when you were at the movie that you dropped CC off at the groomer. Does Cece have a new groomer? Yes, it's groomers are hard to find in. In great view. Yes, they're, so we expanded the Radius search Search and found one about half an hour toward Gig Harbor. It's in Purdy, which is right before you cross the bridge. Yep. So it's called Hollywood. Hollywood, Hollywood Grooming, and it was great. You do as you're heading toward. I don't, as you're heading toward Gig Harbor, take a left into the driveway. Great. And then I wanted to take a left that left to get out into that driveway. I know that road, that is not great. I've had to stop for people taking a right into that driveway before. Oh wow. So that it, that's not, I mean, it's a popular spot. People need it for sure and they do a great job. But when you said that you had gone there, I was like, oh, how was that left hand turn, Susie, you just have to be patient. I know there's two lights. There's the purdy light before you cross the bridge and then there's one on the other side as you approach. I don't, not be fair, but I don't know what that little town is. It's, it's not union wana. Yeah, yeah. Wana. So La Lake Catherine Intersection, if that's what we call it. That's right. Yes. So, I know there's lights. I just have to be patient and. Eventually it will work out. Yes. And so yeah, it, it was fine. Yeah. Well-oiled machine, they get you in. They get you out. Yeah. They're very popular. Yes. It was a great, it was a great clip. They do boarding there also. They do, yeah. So, Hollywood. Yeah. And cece's a little dachshund, long hair, silky Dachshund. Her legs are short. She doesn't have a lot of time. No. Or it doesn't take her a lot of time. No, and I just wanna trim, I don't want a shave because I've, oh god. Anyway, they did a good job. It's a trim. Yeah. A bath and a trim. Yes. Nails. Yes. Oh, don't do Daisy's nails. No. They may have to give her a little like sleepy pill. We're gonna try giving her some CBD next time and see if that works. Oh yeah. I've done it. I've had a dog. Lucky was like that. Yep. Yes. So lots of stuff going on with the Airbnb business. Yes. You have some news? I do. We selected our teacher for the teacher giveaway. This was a four night stay at the Hideaway, and the lucky winners are the borders. From Fur Crest Bortles. Yeah. Yay. So it's Peyton and their mom Nicole. And it's just gonna be the two of them. No pets, extra rest. Right. And then they said they might have a couple friends come one, one other night. Wow. But yeah, it's gonna be just like a mom. And I'm not sure if Peyton is, a boy or a girl's name. So I'm just gonna use, I've had both general, general gender neutral terms and say, mom, child experience, child mother experience feels good. So I'm super excited for them. They're gonna stay in August, so they grabbed a. A week that I had open and I have weeks open on my calendar. If anybody out there is interested and needs a little break ski, I'd love to host you. What set them apart from the others that submitted? I liked the tone of her application. I thought she was transparent and thoughtful. Also the amount of. Doing that, Nicole does in addition to her job. Oh, is a lot. And Nicole needs a break and Good. And Nicole's been school counselor for 20 plus years. Oh my Over, I'm guessing in for Crest and she just, if you're a counselor, you really care about the students. Right. It's not just like I'm trying to teach them math and I care about that. Right, right. It's like I care about you and your success as a student. So I'm assuming that can be. Very enjoyable and very taxing at the same time. Yes. Yeah. So she needs a little rest and I'm excited to give it to her. And I'm gonna have a couple special things I'm gonna do for her as well. Oh. That I'm excited about. But I won't talk about it on the podcast'cause I don't know if they listen. I don't think they do. And it's a surprise. You want it to be a surprise? It's a surprise. But if you do listen, congratulations, Nicole. Yay. We're so excited. Oh, good. So that is exciting. And then I had a guest that stayed at the Hideaway a few years ago. A couple years ago, I think she came twice with her family and she just booked Lisa's house for a week in August. And that was a really great moment for me also because. I had been thinking, Hey, I need to alert all my past guests about this new Lakehouse, and maybe they want like a Lakehouse experience. Oh, okay. But they wanna make sure they're gonna have a good time and have a good host. So I need to let them all know about it. Right. And she just. Must have picked up on that thought.'cause I never even sent the email yet. I'm planning on it, but she messaged and she's booked for a week over there. That's great. So I loved that because it's giving her that lake experience and it's giving me that little like, nudge, Hey look Lisa, she's doing a great job bringing in, you know, people for you. So good. I'm excited about that one. But I wanna know if you have any grape view updates.'cause we didn't talk too much grape view stuff today. Well, I, I really like the history of grape view and one of the things that impresses me about this area is probably the history. There are generations that stay. Yes. And there's new people coming in too, like you and I. But there is this historical knowledge that you really. They have kept, they they have a great view community association. It's really organized, scheduled events, and they build community and they this legacy of storytelling and connection is really. Really obvious. So, there's one lady I've wanted to meet. Her name is Louise Nik, and she's a friend of Fred's and she's 93 years old. 93, and I think she was married to her husband. I think it. Ed and he was one of the pioneers, his family, and she was married to him maybe 60 years. Wow. Maybe it was a very long time. But we rode our e-bikes and we stopped by her house. She's just amazing. She's so vibrant. She doesn't move as fast as she used to, but sharp as a whip and the best stories. So. I'll talk to her more. I'll pick her brain. I invited her. Can you give us a story, like just one of her stories? Do you remember? Oh, no, I, there's so many. Okay. We stayed about an hour. Wow. Yes, and she, so she's married. She married. Ed, who's family is tied to the pioneering of great view. But does she have children? Yes. Are they here in Grape View or are they other places? She has two as far as I know. See, I didn't get into that part. Okay. So I don't wanna speak to it. I just don't wanna speak wrong, but I'll Sure. I saw an article. Of her volunteer activities and it was in the Kitsap Sun, so I'm going to pull that up and get some good information. But I invite invited Louise to come on. She's, oh, no, no, no, no. But that's understandable. It's, I mean, oh, of course. Yeah. It's yeah, she just didn't really, we can't get the information from her that we're interested in though, and explain it here. Yes. But just from a historical knowledge, she, I have not talked to anyone as knowledgeable as her, and they partied, but it was a social thing where they would have picnics and barbecues on the beach and they would go, it wasn't a party, it was more of a social gathering. Yeah. Groat, I feel like party means like. Booze and loud music and. Oh, who knows. What else? Well, they probably had booze, so, but that was fun. And she, her memory is great. She remembered Fred has a friend me, who's a retired teacher. And so it was fun and I think Fred really enjoyed. Seeing her again and she invited me to bingo because Where does she do bingo? At the Horton Center right next. Oh yeah. Yes. The community center. Does she walk there? Oh no. No. She'd drive I think. Yeah. Does she still drive? Yeah, I think so. Unless someone, what kind of car does she have? I'll watch out for it. No, I'm sure it's fine. It's, we rode our bikes to her house. It's right behind the fire station. Yeah. And the post office. Just a amazing spot. Really. I love that. Post office. I had to go there later today. Yes. So that, that was fun. And invited me to Bingo and I said, well, we're camping, but I'll give you a call on Thursday. Thursday morning at nine o'clock. Nine o'clock she called Fred. Fred, is Susie coming to Bingo? Oh, cute. Oh, yes. So did you go? No, because we were camping and I got home too late. Yeah. But which brings me to the next event. So I looked online at Great View Community Association, and I think that Louise is in charge of fundraising. So they have these events, I don't know if they're fundraisers, but they, they may charge, but the 13th they had. A Hawaiian themed potluck and bingo, which is what I was invited to. Ah, and then July 11th, they have a hotdog roast with s'mores, and that's at the rouse shirt field. Nice. Yeah. And then the 26th, this one's huge. The Great View Water and Art Festival. And that's June 26th. July 26th. July 26th, June 13. So all of these are July, June 13th was the Hawaiian. July 11th is the hotdog roast. Got it. And July 26th is the Great View and Water Art Festival. All right. Yes. So that, i, I just got this total rat pack vibe from her. I just love it. Love her. And I, and that's my, that's my jam. I listen to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and so I just got that vibe from her. I loved it. Amazing. So more to come on that. I have been listening to a lot of music from the mid nineties. Yes. I'm not sure why I feel kinda like Teenagery or a. You know, angst, angsty. Yes. Kind of. So I've been listening to a lot of ni mid nineties music all over the board. Like from like pop music to like death metal nineties versions. Yeah. To like, I dunno, Lilith Fair, like fem rage along horse set, you know, stuff like that's, oh, it's been a week for you. I love it so much, but. I had a thought, and I'm curious if anyone else is thinking the same way I am or at least sees my point of view. Saturn is an Aries currently, it just moved into Aries. Saturn is kind of the rule maker of the skies of the planets. That's, it's like, I don't know, dominant, not dominant rule maker. Okay. Like it ha, it's like. About like laws and governance and things like that, right? But Saturn and Aries is what was going on in the mid nineties, and so I'm wondering if I'm feeling a little angsty because of Saturn and Aries and the music is reflecting of that. I would. I would agree. You think so? Yeah. Okay. But mine is just my kid, Kevin told me that Spotify has a music radio called Wine Bar. Ooh. Yeah. Yeah. It's really great. And then I thought, huh, I wonder if Amazon Music has a wine bar? No, they have martini bar. Ooh. Which, that's the one I like because it's so rat pack issues. You're Amazon music girl. Ooh, I'm, no. Do you all think Apple? I'm Apple. Apple Music. Apple. And I'm Spotify. And also Amazon, it sounds like. No, I don't subscribe. Listen, Pandora. No. How do you listen to the martini radio if you don't have Amazon? Apple. Apple Music. Oh, apple Music. You said Amazon. Oh, I did. Sorry. Sorry, apple. That's the thing too. Apple. Okay. I was surprised. I was like, oh, really? That's interesting. No, you have an iPhone. Why are you listening to Amazon? Yeah. No, no. Apple begin with an A, I guess. Apple Music Martini Radio, Spotify. Wine Radio. Wine bar. Wine bar. Yes. Okay, so that I just dig that rag pack. Love it. Vibe. Is that your, did you know? No. What's do you want me to do? My, did you know? Sure. Alright. I don't care. I didn't tell you what it was. Mine's about the solstice, so I'm sure everyone's excited about that. Mine's about a word, and Louise used this word when I was describing Cece because she has short legs and she's a dachshund. And then she said. Oh yes. She likes dachshunds. She had a friend who had one, and its little tally whacker was dragging on the ground. I loved that tally Whacker said Tally whacker. I didn't ask, but then I went home and looked it up. Of course, I. It's what I thought it was. Is it what I think it is? Well, yes. It's a little genitalia Tally. Whacker is a slam term for male genitalia. I laughed. Tally whacker. I hadn't used that. Heard that word in so long. I have a couple people I'd like to use that word. Oh, it was so divine. It just was a, I love it. A blast from the past. Yeah, so that's my learning. Tally whacker. Tally whacker, male genitalia. I love it. That's amazing. Oh, I feel like we should leave it there. That's so funny. Okay, so here's my little fact. So y'all know that the summer solstice is the longest day of the year, but did you know that it's not the latest sunset or the earliest sunrise? No. Yeah, me neither. This is the day before and the day after. Yep. The earliest sunrise happened that I, before the summer solstice and the latest sunsets happen after the summer solstice. It doesn't say what day before or what day after. Right. But it's not the actual day. Okay. A little trivia there. Just a little ffy, just a little trivia. Happy solstice, everyone. We love you. And we thank you so much for listening. Yes. And 4th of July. Love that. Do we? I love 4th of July. Yeah. Okay. I have mixed feelings. I'll say that. Okay. Well, we'll get, we'll we'll do a. A recap of our 4th of July. We'll, after that happens, yes. Well, it it'll be close. We are not sure what happened there, but the last minute of our podcast got deleted and we just wanna say thanks for listening and we hope you have a great week and bye-bye.
