Diogenes' Lamp
Guest Speaker Series: Ep. 5: The Second Italo-Abyssinian War
Hey Everyone, For todays episode, well be talking about a place a bit down the ways from Greece, but with connections and roots to Hellenism that go back thousands of years: Ethiopia…And well specifically be talking about the Yekatit Massacre which occurred during the Second Abyssinia War This was when Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935, and occupied it until 1941.
Obviously a topic like this is completely out of my wheelhouse, so I brought in an expert on the topic, and a good friend of the Pod, Julian McBride who has written about and researched on Ethiopia extensively.
Julian McBride, is a former U.S. Marine, a forensic anthropologist and independent journalist born in New York. He reports and documents the plight of people around the world who are affected by conflicts, rogue geopolitics, and war, and also tells the stories of war victims whose voices are never heard. Please enjoy while we take a closer look at this largely forgotten conflict.
