On Point - A Line Too Far

I was a child of the ’60s and a teenager in the ’70s. I grew up watching America wrestle with its conscience. I saw signs come down, doors open, and wounds that still haven’t fully healed.
Now I’m a middle-aged, conservative Black man. I believe in strength. I believe in accountability. But I also believe in dignity.
When a sitting President depicts a former President and First Lady as chimps, that’s not toughness. That’s tapping into one of the oldest racial insults in this country—the lie that Black people are less than human.
You can debate policy. You can criticize leadership. That’s democracy. But when cruelty replaces character, we’ve crossed a line.
Leadership should elevate the country, not drag it backward. Some lines were drawn in history for a reason.
And this is one of them.
This is A Line Too Far.
