Ep 057: When the Miracle Looks Different: A Story of "But If Not..." Faith

Sheila Layton Episode 57

A story of loss, hope, and learning to trust God’s hand—even when the miracle looks different, and “but if not...” becomes the deepest kind of faith.

Sunny Mahe, a former volleyball All-America, mother of ten, and speaker at BYU Women’s Conference, shares her powerful story of faith, loss, and miracles. When her daughter Elsie passed away in a tragic accident, Sunny’s family was faced with unimaginable grief. Yet, through prayer, temple worship, and the Spirit’s guidance, they found peace in knowing "Elsie could leave this life as a hero and our pain could be transformed into someone else's joy."

Sunny also reflects on tender experiences—like seeing God’s hand provide when her husband was out of work—and how living with “but if not...” faith has shaped her. Her story is a reminder that God’s hand is present even when answers don’t come the way we expect, and that His love and purpose are woven through every struggle.

🙏 Take a moment to reflect: ✨ What do you do when life turns upside down in a single moment—and the miracle doesn’t look like what you prayed for? Where have you seen God’s hand in your hardest moments? Share your experience in the comments or with someone who needs this reminder today.
