Ep 073: Princess Bombyck on Faith, Courage, and Trusting God’s Plan

Sheila Layton Episode 73

What do you do when choosing faith costs you everything—but opens the door to everything else?

Princess Bombyck’s life has been shaped by courage, prayer, and relentless trust in God. Born in Liberia and raised in a strong Christian home, her childhood was marked by war, separation, and uncertainty. When conflict forced her father to leave, her faith journey took unexpected turns—eventually leading her back to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, even when that choice was deeply misunderstood.

Coming to the United States for school happened faster than anyone expected—a miracle she sees now as part of God’s plan. But choosing to stay true to her convictions came at a cost. When family members opposed her decision, Princess found herself without a home… until a prayer on a porch was answered by a phone call from the missionaries.

A family she barely knew took her in—despite facing their own hardships—and became her guardians for two years. When that season ended, another began. More prayers. More uncertainty. Then another miracle: a scholarship, a job, housing, and a path forward.

Through it all, Princess kept moving. Today, she’s a graduate student, entrepreneur, and advocate—founder of Juah Apparel and the Health Impact Alliance—using fashion and community to break barriers and expand access to health and wellness. What began as survival has become service.

She knows this much: when you recognize God’s hand in your life, you remember who you are, why you’re here, and that you are never walking alone.

If you’ve ever felt stuck between fear and faith, this episode is for you.
